GW2 have less of those events because of the Living Story.
Except for the hiatus now, because of the HoT, we used to get new content every 2 weeks so if the added all those events along with the LS it would be just too many things at the same time.

you must have not played guild wars one at all . and there should be more of them and living story has not got a thing to do with this at all. and the same goes for hot as well it has not got any thing at all to do with this. and when a new pack came out in gw1 there still was events no matter if new pack came out the same time the event was going on or not. and so they can still do all this in gw2 plus events . that is how it was in gw1 . and us old time players miss that a lot in gw2 .

Most organized groups prepare well in advance and if they do leave maps, most do with plenty of time for the map to organize themselves. Teq is easy folks. You need very little time for set up these days. Triple trouble was intended by Anet to be for large organized groups. It makes sense that large guilds want to get as many of the people on teamspeak on a map to better ensure a triple decap. They have every kitten right to be on the map as you do. If you want to place blame, place blame on Anet for not giving us instanced content. Sorry, is an issue. and one that need to be addressed and put a end to guilds doing this to other players . that are not in a guild or are in a guild there should be no harassment by a guild on one or two players . not only that honestly there is no need at all for (TS)-team speak or any other voice chat as in my book . it is a major waste and takes away from the game fully thus said some of us do not want to nor will hop or getting on any ones TS just because you say its ok to do so some of us much rather enjoy our game with out voices in our ears .and enjoy the game for what it is . but yes your right on this one and only one point and that is this. simple organized groups that kill teq that is not the problem at all

The large organized groups that kill teq and TT do not harass other players and if they did they can be reported to the guild leaders because such behavior is not allowed or accepted by these guilds. If people are being mean and rude to others they should be reported for sure. But the groups I’ve run with have always been polite to members and non members alike.
there are a few out there that are doing this. but from what i seen so far not one thing has happened to them guilds for doing this. and iam glad the person that made this post about this problem did it. as it goes to show there is a problem and it is going on and being done by a few guilds .. and while we can not say names it will take you only one time to spot them once you came across them .

As for these smaller guilds that get upset at people for putting food and banners down… That’s just bizarre. I don’t understand that type of behavior. Alas I’m not sure there is much that can be done other than avoiding their maps.

and we are not saying any thing about smaller guilds get upset at people for putting food and banners down. as that does not happen . and we all are happy and welcome fully any guild or players putting down food and banners for all . not sure where you got that idea from . but it is not the case by any means . and it is good when guilds put down banners for all. and i make it a point to thank them for that as well as thos putting out food too be it a one person that has done it for all or a guild big or small that has done that for every one.

yes i know there is a few events in this game. but not as much as there was in gw1. and it would be nice to have it in gw2 . as it would be a good fit for the game and yes Winters day in July was a event that was half a event of the Winters day it,s self in December .and you got all the drops of that event and there was a few quests that went with it .giving a few good rewards for doing it. and it keep the maps hopping and the towns full of people . was some really good fun enjoyable events . with good drops and btw thos drops like the food the effect,s from them was great and even worked great for some skills like drunken master skill from eye of the north . being drunk and using that skill was a major hoot. and worked will in skill builds too

this has been ask before but yet . not like this so iam asking it . why is it Anet does not have events like they did in GW1 . like Canthan New Year ,Lucky Treats Week,Dragon Festival,Wintersday in July,Wintersday with drops from kills like they did in gw1 . where you would go all over the place working your hardest to get your drops you wanted like .
Shamrock Ale,Four-Leaf Clover,Red Gift Bags,Crate(s) of Fireworks,Celestial Summoning Stones,Crème Brûlée,Flask of Firewater just to name a few of the items you could get from kills and bosses . honestly i think it would only add to the fun of this game if Anet did this like they did in gw1 . and even tho we all know Anet will not do this. it brings me to ask how many of us players from GW1 miss these events and drop,s and would love to see something like this in GW2???? and like i said if anet did do this it would only add to the game and making it more fun yet once again .

I do Teq practically every day, lately getting there up to an hour early to organize things. Hello to anyone I have done it with, I am the person organizing in /map chat over on North Hills who is tagged up with a pink cheeto unless that color is taken, lately Sya Kello but I use different characters as the whim strikes. The whole reason for north hills is because I go to whatever defense needed people that day and/or the one before it.

I have done it once before with that guild awhile back while just on a defense team and I was more than happy to let them fully take the reins. Now with all the work I put into it every day my reaction would be more along the lines of ‘if your people can fill out the holes in our defenses, great, but I will not tag down and stop organizing because you are demanding I do and that you think you can do it better’.

your very right on this . and that is another thing these guilds try to do . and your doing the right thing . and for no reason what ever should you tag down . or out they do not like they should get there own kitten maps . and do teq how they please but not during server reset times at all . as that is i think and should be for the regular players who are not in a guild and can not spawn it .or the guild member who does not want to play with there guild or there guild does not do teq . guilds coming on to these maps at server reset times trying to do teq . is only making problems and harassment to all the other non guild players . and this should not be at all i say leave server reset bosses like teq for the non guild players. and or the guild players who do not play with there guilds at all .

To be honest, I don’t see why guilds even feel the need to host or organize Tequatl anymore. Aside from being one big advertising campaign for the guild itself, it seems pretty pointless. People already know what to do during Tequatl, and, outside of empty maps, I just never see it fail these days.

I myself have been on a map just recently where guilds say they are organizing the event and then they pull people away from the map, and you end up sitting on an empty map 5 minutes before the event starts. It’s a big inconvenience because getting onto a more full map with that little time left is quite difficult. They really should just leave things be and stop trying to manipulate everything for their convenience all the time, especially when they end up wasting up to 45 minutes of other players’ time, who have all been patiently waiting on the map to secure their place. If they want to have a nice organized guild event, then they should do it outside of Tequatl’s spawn time and spawn him themselves.

agreed here too there is no reason at all for any guild to even come on a map and host or organize Tequatl not one reason at all . as it only makes problems and makes it harder for the regular players to put the map together and make it work in the first place.

No, the problem IS those guilds that think they own the maps. If they don’t want to play with other people, then they shouldn’t advertise that their guild is planning on organizing the event. They should either immediately leave the map to join their other members or make sure to announce to the current map, that they have no intention of staying on with the non-members. To blame this on the innocent players that are just trying to participate in a map-wide event is absurd.

agreed this is just another thing guilds can do to fix the problem there self, s . and that is just one of the things these guilds do is blame the other players and harassment them in open map and pm chats till they are blocked . and all the innocent players are trying to do is enjoy the game for what it is and kill teq and move on with there goodies . just as it should be

I seen this at TT as well when (Edit out) or some guild was there at the start point and all ported away at last moment, and the world was left under populated and failed due to not enough players for a single wurm.

I think most major guilds that run TT usually map jump (which you might see as ‘port away’) around 15 minutes in advance, but they do camp the start spot since 1 hour in advance, usually after Teq. This is usually to get the map to be full so a fresh map is created, which they will then jump to en masse. The reason is usually to accommodate as many of the guild members as possible. Fresh map = more slots for guildies.

This might or might not cause the original map to be under populated, though, depending on the timing of the major guild’s map jump. I suspect this is also what happens to the OP’s original complaint (a major guild suddenly map jumped to a fresh map in order to accommodate more people from their guild in one map).

If that is the case, this is an inherent issue with the megaserver instance system instead of the guild trolling people (though it might look that way from the POV of the map that is left behind). Not sure how ANet can fix it other than allowing guilds to create their own ‘shard’ of the event map, though that might tax their server too much if all guilds start doing that.

now i got to agree with you on that it would be most helpful if Anet made this the way your talking about . and let the guilds do there own thing on there own maps .and let us regular non guild players do our thing on world bosses . i think it would fix the problem very well .

Without a doubt there’s one guild in particular that does this which I will not name. Once you meet them you should know better and move on to the next map but it’s pretty cruel to do to a map full of players who are ready to give 100%.

you are very right on this . and they just did it again tonight on another map. claiming they owned the map and all that. and Anet will not do one thing about this at all. just glad we can block them . and move to a map with out these too guilds in the map at all. with this problem iam glad i have not gotten nor will i get the new pack due to this problem . i will just keep my cash . and not bother with world bosses no more.

I don’t know about banning people for it. Players do have a right to play with their friends and guildmates. The taxi system does allow players to hop maps. They are not technically doing anything wrong. I suppose you could report them for griefing or interfering with your playing experience. But it would take a lot of reports from a lot of players to ban an entire guild, and I’m not so sure that they are purposely trying to ruin your experience. It’s more likely they are trying to enhance their own.

It’s really better for you to taxi onto a different map if you see this guild appear.

Personally I don’t even know if I’ll buy GW2’s expansion. MMOs sometimes feels like waste of time, with all the grinding.

I suppose other people may be thinking like that and leaving the genre for good.

Every MMO that promises “no grinding” back pedal on their decision, like GW2 and FFXIV so I don’t even believe such things anymore.

same here too as well and i have given thought to going back to the old days of when gaming was fun and enjoyable like Mario the hours i spent playing that game on end .and the fun i had with it . i will say iam tempted to go and pick it back up again . if i do not see any changes in this game and something that interests me in the new hot pack coming out.

First, we have to agree that there’s a problem; I don’t think there is.

Problem – perhaps not for all.
Annoyance for perhaps more – yeah I could go along with that

What ANET perhaps need to finally put some effort into is scaling and balancing such events so that lower pop maps are less reliant on having to pull everyone and anyone into it in order to achieve completion.
Then of course you can add into this the map lottery your left with when you get dc’ed or the game crashes… all that time and effort wasted cos you cant get back into the map you just spent a fare amount of time and effort in helping get the event to within a gnats whisker of completion.

So yeah problem for some not all I would say, but frustrating to many more I think for sure imo.

I think there is a shift towards game controllers – the Xbox/PS generation – and games that don’t use them don’t get considered by ‘youngsters’.

Essentially the proportion of game players who have never used a keyboard as a game controller is increasing, and I suspect such people are unlikely to consider using a keyboard in the future.

any time you like to use Tomes of Knowledge. at lest till you hit lvl 80 use them. they are great . right now iam saving up mine for a new toon. and when i get 80 of them i can just use them and then see what the game is like . being 80 right from the get go

I enjoy the Teq world boss. My favourite. I always do it in random maps. It’s challenging until you know what you’re doing, relatively rewarding for the 15-20 mins it takes and there’s always a possibility you will fail if you arrive on an inexperienced or disorganised map.

However, over the course of the week I have been unlucky enough to twice be on a map where a particular guild has posted in Map-chat that -our guild is managing this event, we have arranged defences etc etc (I’m sure everyone has seen this stuff before). They then depart en mass a minute before the event. Sometimes the random map can cope with the loss of a large% of players who were covering defensive positions, and sometimes they don’t realise until TEQ builds the bonewall that it’s all over.

So, is there a Troll guild dedicated to destroying the fun us PUG maps have in trying to kill TEQ? Is it rogue members actually trying to bring this guild into disrepute (they activated a guild specific hero banner) or is there a Troll Guild trying to mess everything up for everyone, starting with TEQ?
And I suppose my final question is would A-net actually care if I reported that an entire guild was “Spoiling my fun” when there are clearly more of them than me laughing at us PUGs and random maps?

And in case anyone is interested – I believe it’s a big multi-server guild but I reckon I can’t name names in forum.

great post and i have to agree fully with you on this . and there are a few such guilds like this sadly to say . which sadly to say should not be . in the kitten guilds have no place or need trying to set maps up at all during . server reset is when i find this mostly seams to take place. needless to say when guilds come on to a teq map during the server reset and teq spawns right after that .saying they are doing this event and setting thing,s up and got every thing covered . in the kitten that is just not right and sure in the kitten is not need or welcomed by us players . who just want to go to a event like teq right after server reset . and have fun and beat it and get rewards. and move on . also too the same goes for guilds coming onto other maps and saying hop on our TS and we are going to do this event on this map and so forth . and putting it over again in CAPS . in the kitten i say seriously not welcomed or need . and if you want to do a event on a map all fine and good . there is just no need for you to tell the whole map to hop on your TS . and join in your little guild event,s . when all some of us players want to do is just farm and map and do our own thing . with out being bothered by some guild filling chat up . with useless not need chat . that is what guild chat is for. sigh in the kitten the day guilds get this stuff in there heads . is the same day it will be that Dawn is given out for free to every player via drop,s system . also like to say when guilds come on to maps iam in and do this . i just block them all and move on . and has pretty much put a very bad taste in my mouth with guilds all together.

hoping not i will say the last thing this game really needs is any type of raid or raidings going on at all . much rather see more game improvements . and enjoy the new stuff with out too many patches needed

When the game came out 400 gems per bag slot was no big deal. Gems are inflated now and it still costs 1200 gems to upgrade one character to max bag slots.

For a player just starting out that’s somewhere between 180g-200g just to max out bag slots on one character. A little ridiculous for someone just starting out.

Would be nice if the 3 additional bag slots were given free or the price was cut by a minimum of 50% to a more reasonable 200 gems per slot making it cost 600 gems total for full upgrade.

i agree fully with you on this . and the same goes for unlimited harvesting tools too. as well as bank slot tabs . and even with lets say 200 gems for new bag slots or bank tab,s and 400 gems for unlimited harvesting tools. they still will be making money . who knows they might even have more toon slot sales from it as well too

i just enjoy the game myself fully for what it is . and like the fact i can take off by myself . and go all over the place if i like and not care and enjoy the game music and the game to for that matter . and not have to deal with some useless not need voice game chat in my ears while trying to play hearing more then useless talk . about how the game does not have this or they do not like that about the game . i just hop on and go go go . and always find something new to enjoy .

Just would like to say ANET can never solve everyones’ problems. It’s a good game, enjoy what it offers, enjoy what you get. Unfortunately, for me, I don’t have a lot of time to hunt up 4 Players for a Dungeon or invest in Guild Events. So, good by for now GW2, I’ll just be satisfied that GW is still active with henchmen & heroes. I’ll be back, but probably not very often. Hope henchmen comre to GW2 someday, but, either way, GW2 is a good game

indeed and i agree with you fully on this. in GW1 i got stuff done with heros and henchmen at lest . unlike in GW2 every one wants to get in a Conner or run off or they think your class is not good enough for them . and i gave up trying to find people to do dungeons with . it is just not worth the time and takes away from the fun of the game too with people with that said far as dungeons goes for get about it . and if they do put heroes and henchmen in this game . i will use them fully every chance i get.

i miss that too from GW1 but sadly to say i honestly do not see Anet doing this at all for us player.s but it would be a welcome shock if they did do this. and i see no reason why they can not . other then not having the time to do it. for the most part.

It runs as a process, not an application.

Both AVG and AdAware consider it malware, and I cannot access exceptions for it.

after reading your post i found your problem fully. and i will point it out to you . and give you a good recommendation for the easy fix . your frist and second problems are both one and the same AVG and AdAware that is your problems all together. i hate to say but they both have been fully well proven to be very useless and let back door viruses in as well as money hack virus too. the easy fix part is this go to amazon or the company,s direct site. and pay for the latest version of Trend micro . at lest you will be more then covered all the way around. and it updates at lest 3 a day . and it will not let you get any kind of virus if you use the recommend setting,s . in doing that you will be able to get back in game and forums too and much more.

One of the few cool things Xbox One has done is there game clip recording & sharing. Now that Windows 10 is here, Microsoft has brought this to the PC. It would be great to quickly and easily share goofy little videos, or awesome PvP moments easily with Windows 10, so I’m excited that it is finally here!

You can record any game just fine. The problem now is that games have to have some xbox support features implemented in order to actually share the game clip to the xbox app. Games have to be verified with Microsoft as a legit game so that people can’t just upload random porn or something to the xbox app.

If I remember from a windows 10 game dev video, it isn’t all too hard to get your game working with the app.

I hope Anet considers doing this in the future! Easy game clip sharing is something the Xbox app does well!

iam enjoying this myself as well too. and even tho i got the feeling Anet does not want a thing to with this or xbox for that matter . it would be a very much welcomed change if Anet did hop on the band wagon with this . and make it happen . but like i said from what i seen out of Anet iam not holding my breath . but sure do hope they will like i said .

just got windows10 myself . and so far not one problem at all not even with drivers . but i did have windows8.1 too not sure if that matters to a point. but yet so far everything is smooth as silk . and both Guild Wars and Guild Wars2 are playing very nicely . and i will say i think with Guild Wars too the video drivers have been up dated . as thing,s seam a bit more better and brighter even .

after learning on how to kill teq now. in a different way then i had done before the update . i got to say some times you got to try new tricks to reach your goal . and after dropping teq with 3:00 left to go . i got a nice drop out of it. and gold too. even old dog,s can learn new trick,s

These are the Guild Wars 2 official forums. We want discussions to be related to our game and have no interest in hosting an off-topic forum. I administered a busy OTF years ago and it was incredibly time-consuming and volatile for me and my team.

We encourage game-related discussions, and sure, those can head into areas that are more real-world than in-game. But a forum strictly dedicated to non-game topics simply isn’t in the cards.

this is great news as i too have I administered other forums of different topic,s and so forth . i found it to be a pain most of the time my self. and iam glad to see this company and game staying true to what it does and the game and game only . please keep up the good work . besides there is enough forums and web sites out there to find one to meet your needs as to what you wish to talk about.:)

just want to say thank for you the game up date and all the changes to L.A.you really made L.A. look great and so very nice compared to the way it was for months on end and so forth all around. also thanks for giving me a whole brand new game to enjoy fully. and can not wait for hot to come out !!!!:)

You mean the game which had expansions that were, in their own rights, fully fleshed out and playable games in and of themselves that only expanded the universe they were in AND gave free character slot upgrades to existing owners so they could hit the ground running with the new classes introduced in their games with RACH expansion? The price was 50 for GW1 expansions because they were stand alone games that included character slots…. This is just a rip off.

As for people who bought the game from the beginning, we basically are buying the whole game all over again.

I don’t think words can express how much of a rip off this is…

that is not noting more then a lie and is not true . as with guild wars one when you bought any of the packs you got that game only . but if you want to go to the other parts of the game you had to buy all the packs same for Guild wars 2 with this pack tho you got to have the main game and you do not buy the HOT pack and get the Guild Wars 2 game that is just not going to happen Anet does not roll like that

Best thing about GW2 for me is the music and pve stuff and some of the champ boss fights . and finding a new spot to check out i have not been to yet or a rare item dropping . but mostly its the music for me

one thing from GW1 i got to say i liked a lot this game does not have is you could change your stats on both your armor and weapons and so forth the only ones you could not change in that game at all was the Green / Legendary wep stats but still loved it

if the company holds to its roots and does like it did in GW1 there will be 5 new toon slots with the game. and i for one hope they hold to this

agreed that would be so nice and to all the npc stuff there like they did with GW1 and a few new add items to boot. like some good music to go with the hall that matches the setting of the halls too and be able to go all around and look every thing over like you could in GW1 i fully enjoyed the Elona halls myself
