Seems like the best course of action would be to revert #2 with #3. Elementalist is simply too strong in a downed state.
Tooltips are often wrong.

Except zerker is neither a build nor archetype, it’s just a group of passive stats that tell you how much you sacrifice for an offense. Your build comes from traits, utility skills and weapons choices.
PVE
saturday i played FRACTAL 50 with 3 guardians and a warrior using a full zerk mesmer.
Facetanking everything legendary archdviner, mossman etc…..
Now you know the truth.
Even if anet makes zerker harder to play, people will get more guardians. The more guardians you have, the easier the content becomes.
I take every class on my super scummy leetist stacking runs except necros.
:’c
I take every class except guardians.
Since when bow is a trademark of rangers?
It’s an understatement.
This is an interesting question. GW2 combat is of a very primitive form. It essentially describes the berserker battlefield where everyone enrages and simply goes for it. The trinity at least provides roles for combat. Consider IRL combat with infantry, artillery, etc. Modern combat is roles-based—it’s how humans approach solving problems in groups. The trinity at least provides a role-based format. GW2 combat provides nothing but the berserker, a fine archetype but rather unsatisfying as a complete combat system.
If only berserker was an archetype.
Feels like reading general discussion forum or January 2013 thread.
Blinds are especially good for bosses fights.
BLeh you just hate anything that actualy get trought a AI. Minion masters and ranger did nothing to you in pve why hate them so much? I think MM should hold a place of choice in a dungeon party.
Its prety much the world reversed
GW1 MM:
PVE: (We absolutely need one else we gunna get eaten by the mobs!)
PVP: (ahahaha look at the noob he got no corpse so he cant raise any minion then he try spamming echo aura of the lich!)GW 2 MM:
PVE: (god that guy deals no damage and only cure cond while buffing regen kick it)
PVP: (OMG we are getting swarmed by minion heeeeelp meeeeeeeeee ‘’strangled voice with sound of massacre in background’’)Pet is a build in its own right and deserve an actual niche in the game. Why a build would be destroyed so that yours can trive on the benefits of its death? Im sure Anet aim to make pet build as viable as other builds. They just have trouble doing it right.
Pet builds deserved to be used only by AI. AI controlled by AI, nothing else. Anet should murder those builds and never again make them viable. Game would become better, especially in pvp.
Please tell me they plan adding power scaling to necromancer pet, ranger pet and enginer turrets. those stuff a long overdue. And if not id realy like to know why they made the tooltip scale if they dont plan to add it someday because it would actualy make so much sense for pet users.
To be honest im dying to know what is the development team oppinion about pet zoo user and pet in general as builds in their game. A lot of people would likely want to know how the developement team think about the pet build right now.
Anet should nerf pet builds to the ground and I’ll be elated when it finally happens. As will the majority of the playerbase, especially pvp part.
It even has S/F+LH !
LOL !!
Poor Z, forgot how off-hand dagger looks like.
If only lh and staff builds weren’t so monotonous to play.
I’ve been kicked quite a few times in AC pug runs too. Once, they lured the spider queen but it went out of melee range, so I followed her in order to avoid the poison fields. Well, Pugs didn’t do so, she used the poison attack, I quickly dodged out and solo’ed her once the others died. They accused me of doing it wrong, because ‘stacking prevents the aoe’. However, we reach Kholer. All four pugs are going into that corner in the pillar where you can’t see kitten. I adapt, pull Kholer and run there. He gets into the corner, being totally covered by particle effects and does the pull. As I realize the CC, I teleport out, being the only one to survive. Solo’ing a bit further, as they didn’t manage to attack the mobs I fgs’ed down, they tell me that I once again messed up by ’not stacking so they all wipe, followed by loading screen.
Also fun when you tell people they should stop messing howling king add’s aggro up, they argue with ‘you die too so shut up’. When I tell them I could easily solo, they tell it’s impossible and I should show them. Doing so, all adds dying before reaching me, seeing loading screen at 15% boss hp.
Tl;dr: nothing wrong with stacking, it’s just the people who think stacking itself is effective, not understanding it’s the positioning which is important.
PS: From now on I’m going to kick anyone who’s willing to do Kholer in that dumb corner. There are so many better LoS spots, especially when solo/duo’ing with active adds.
Fight fire with fire!
Your fault…
This is a mmorpg…..in a mmorpg you are expected to pug…..
Could you show me what kind of dictionary you are using?
And balance team is expected to balance for pugs and not for you being the exception.
Let’s balance for pugs and have all guild members that like to play with each others quit the game because there’s nothing to do unless they pug. However, they don’t want to, which was the reason why they formed or joined their guilds.
Pugging is challenging and less straightforewarded….playstiles, party compositions, tactics are often different…
I can agree here, pugging is challenging… for you mental state.
if i played with the same people forever would be boring as cof1 speedruns.
Better boring than deadly for your health.
Elementalist build has antitoxin spray.
Pugs don’t have blocks, evades, reflects and cannot use cc properly. In that case we’re showing off. How can I consider balance from pugs pov when I don’t pug. I have no clue what they “invented” this time.
Try to find like-minded people instead of pugging for more 1.5 year.
- PvP has Wet Noodle Fights (Guardian vs Guardian at Mid); interspersed with moments where some player gets zeroed out in seconds. (Can anyone honestly say that they enjoyed the Burst Meta where whichever Mesmer got their Timewarp down first won the fight?) There’s no in-between of punch and counter-punch – TTK is ridiculously polarised in range from minutes to kill to seconds
I’m pretty sure most pvp-ers would say they actually enjoyed burst meta over this cheese that surrounds us.
Everything is avoidable.
Turned off autotargeting, I think I’ve seen enough!
In case you can’t figure it out. Any of these speed kills with super fast times, require a lot of planning and a certain amount of Lupi luck. You can’t get 7 7 7 7 runs back to back. It just doesn’t happen that way. Nor can you grab any 5 people with Lupi experience to pull this off.
Its a super outlier extreme case of killing Lupi. Yet you use it as a basis for change…
I’m trying to put this into his head but he appears stubborn. It’s like he thinks that people are doing that on daily basis.
If you think that going to retrait (about 5 minutes to retrait before and after the fight), stack sigils (1-3 minutes), position lupi properly (1 minute) and get good rng (few hours) is faster than just killing him in 1 minute, there’s something wrong with your math. No one fights this boss like it was shown in that clip.
Lupicus was never hard, especially considering that he was solo’d in Dec 2012. So why is he under the impression that the fight should last at least 2 minutes which by the way it does. It’s like saying jet-engines should be banned from being used on certain cars (1228 km/h) because they beat fastest cars by about 800 km/h (500 mph). Makes total sense.

I happen to seriously hate on game that makes boss feels like they are made of paper. Heres a list of game i played
World of warcraft (all expension up to MOP), Guild Wars, Everquest, Everquest 2, Neverwinter, Perfect World
None of these game focus on taking boss down trought sheer damage because its theoricaly impossible to do (save for PWI where a sin can solo from life leech but as a general rule its still a long fight and cost a huge amount of real life money to even be viable)
All of those MMO have systems similar to how guild wars 2 fight are done and by default save for the fact you can dodge and dont got a heal or a tank are in no way different in therm of mechanics. I dont think the dev would have bothered giving the boss so many telegraphed attacks and multiple phase if they where intended to be rushed trought.
Way boss are normaly done in GW 2: team kite around the boss and attack it while trying not to get hit. If a guy fall some teamate run to it and try to heal him.
Way stuff are done in a speed run: Team stack in the corner pull boss or mobs in then deal as much damage as possible and revive teamate as they fall.
You brought GW1 as an example? Do you know about elite missions done in 5-6 minutes where the last bosses (Urgoz and Kanaxai) were dead after 10-20 seconds during the speedrun? Lupi is usually dead after 30-40s during the speedrun.
Dear kyubi, I should inform you that in order to kill him in 7 seconds (which really isn’t 7 seconds, only damage was done in 7 seconds) you need to retrait in order to get completely unviable builds, get full stacks on sigils, food and then pray to goddes of rng. This fight shows how fast you can burn him down under almost idealistic conditions, it’s not how you fight him.
Instead of finding issues where they don’t exists, how about you make a thread how guardians allow zerker to faceroll 99% of the content? That would be an actual professions balance thread coming from you.
Id seriously like to hear the devs opinion about burn dpsing trought their content like if it was a Devil may cry game.
DMC games are awesome, there’s a reason I like this one and most of the DMC. Active combat.
Kyubi, I don’t know if you realised that, but this forum is called Professions Balance.
Or any warrior who cant find their evade buttons… sorry, but when i put a gs on my warrior its just to fill the ranged slot so i can swap, and mash skill 2 for adrenaline before going back to my axe
Seems like I overestimated playerbase.
I wish Ele’s could do that. Over half the attunement abilities are useless.
Yes, me too. But slight changes there and there and it should be okay.
(edited by Moderator)
EDIT: for it and for the times i use bow as 5th attunement, i also use water 4 with zephyr boons (fury etc)
But my dps is not to be discussed.
Someone said ele can dps and have defense because has focus
I answered focus lowers your dps by a lot
He ansered l2p use hammer. There is something wrong in that….. try to answer people derailing discussions rather on my build that is my choice…( i already used many “DPS builds of the month”)
I m not saying i could not do more damage…i said, that active and risky gameplay like the one promoted by D/D should have better numbers compared to 1111111 or 22222222 builds with most skills only used to get might OOC.
D/F build without conjures does similar amount of damage (if not more) to LH builds. You keep attached to D/D and want it to be dps set which is similar to playing pure axe warrior. Works on paper but any decent warrior will grab a greatsword for the evade, just like focus is preferred over off-hand dagger, because it brings utility. You may not like but it’s a fact.
I do not agree….
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Vital_Striking
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Piercing_Shardshttp://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Evasive_Arcana
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Elemental_AttunementI just skip traits centered around the use of a single attunement (fire) that as i said are totally boring and goes against ele philosophy.
And once again i remember you how that was called burst build and how a mesmer 0/20/0/25/25 was considered DPS.
You’re using piercing shards with d/d? That would explain your lack of dps. Do you use hard hitting skills like churning earth and swap to water in midcast?
Evasive arcana is 30 trait points spend on an additional blast finisher and boon duration, while elemental attunement gives your party 1 stack of might, totally worth it.
Fire magic line is taken for persisting flames, burning rage and burning precision or pyromancer’s alacrity, none of which are centered around the use of single attunement.
0/20/0/20/30 was (is) burst, with VI and X in air and a scepter in main hand with different utilities. And burst doesn’t matter in pve excluding few gimmicks, it’s about sustained damage.
Just don’t craft any assassin gear before ferocity revamp.
He changed quite a lot of builds then… i tried some and quit due to being extremely boring as i said.
p.S. and imho traits are almost fine….weaponskills needs work.
You’re putting at least 40 points into defense, don’t expect the level of warrior damage potential who spends 70 points into offense,
No i use that build because i don t want to play the dumbed down version of the ele i consider being the conjured elementalist…..
The issue is infact a build spamming the same attack being more efficient compared with one with way more combos, reaction and tactic.
(consider that build was called BURST ELE in pvp….and mine uses 2 more offensive traits)As i answered to richo’s “learn to play” post, there are too many factors that people ignores…
Reaction window
Cast+aftercast
Limited evasionsThe usual fantasy world where players have unlimited evades and skills are istant cast and effect doesn t apply.
But its easier to post stuff likes this and aovid any constructive discussion it seems.
Could you read further than first sentence next time? It will lessen the confusion you might be under. I’ve said I would have advised you to check Zelyhn’s build which doesn’t use conjures yet deals very similar amount of damage.
If I were you, I’d look at your 0/20/0/20/30 dps build first. No wonder you do so low amount of damage with that build. I’d check Zelyhn’s build (stickied on elementalist’s forum), not only it doesn’t use your hated conjures but it does similar amount of damage to LH builds.
And? How does that change what he/she said?
So many players playing eles that need to be nerfed. That’s why balance team is buffing them.
The build used in this kill is unviable for normal purpose in both pve and pvp.
(edited by haviz.1340)
Absolutely no. Reflects are fine and a great form of damage mitigation to any party. If reflects see revisions, then the mesmer class is effectively worthless.
Reflects would be okay if there was any kind of skillful applications of them. Having perma reflections is not exactly hard to achieve yet brings so much it is overpowered.
10s group vigor on a 20s CD.
Apparently, “no”. I wish I had that kind of no vigour.
Are you doing this on purpose or you don’t even realise what meta means? I wish an off-hand mace gave vigour, or maybe a greatsword.
Meta builds for warriors don’t use warhorn because they need no vigour.
It’s pve, mobs don’t move out of aoe.
Pve zerker meta utilizes mostly warriors who have no vigour so I don’t exactly see what that would achieve except making warriors stronger in comparison.
I might be wrong here but only 2 guilds (maybe just 1) take seriously speedkilling dungeon bosses (mostly lupi anyway) and I’m pretty sure one of those guilds is okay with positioning bosses before the fight because that’s not a speedrun. It should show some different tactics than doing rotations behind reflects.
They are even stronger.
I recall being told to make my own website with the rules if I don’t like them.
Oh, I did call it without using word ‘record’ if that hurts you so much.
Then why do we even bother agree’ing on rules, if we’re just going to make up our own as we go?
Whether or not you submitted it isn’t relevant. What’s relevant is that you’ve claimed it as the world record, using rules that weren’t agreed on by the guilds at the record meeting.
GWSCR didn’t make up rules only for GWSCR. The guild wars 2 high-end guilds made up the rules that they wanted to use for records of every sort, and GWSCR published them, and provided a place to share them. When you claim a world record, you’re expected to follow the rules that we as a community agreed on, not what ‘gwscr tells you to’.
What will you do when someone who didn’t agree on the rules claims a record?
Nah i just hate on something like this wich is near exploitlike
Nothing personnal, that you guys figured something this powerful and applicated is a tribute to skill. However such stuff generaly are a hint that something needs to be nerfed.
Ice bow rangers with a bear, obviously. Without a ranger it would have been impossible.
A team with a ranger can kill him 3 times faster than a team with just warriors and one mesmer.
Nerf rangers, they are obviously too strong.
Thanks for advertising those videos, kyubi.
Just don’t forget to ask for ele nerfs since they are so overpowered.
Kyubi, we used a ranger with a bear. Celebrate with us.
Pfft, exploits.
I don’t know if people realise but a standard pve warrior without a vigour has more evades than an elementalist with perma vigour while having 70% more hp and 13% damage reduction.
I would love to see Vigor gone from the game, or at least made very hard to gain as a boon.
The whole reasoning behind the current Berserker meta is because the ‘best’ players can dodge whenever necessary, removing the need to trait defensively. How can they dodge so much? Permanent or near-permanent vigor gained through extremely accessable traits and sigils).
For example, the fact that a guardian has access to essentially permanent vigor means that they don’t have to rely on their various blinds and aegis. Removing that vigor means that they have to play more cautiously and their party wide support is more greatly appreciated.
Thoughts?
That’s why most people play the warrior in pve? Because they have perma vigour.
