I’ll probably be flamed for this, but it must be said Imo. The problem is skipping mobs, but not in an appropriate manner. There are groups in AC exp that even skip Kholer (not sure why you’d wanna do that to begin with).
You do a dungeon the first time for exploration, fun, achievement. If you do it again after that, your only reason is farming for tokens and 26s. If you can clear an explorable path in 15-30 minutes and gain 60 tokens, why on earth would you consciously double that time (and potentially increased repair costs) for so little gain? Especially when Kohler is such a terrible fight with bad mechanics to begin with? There’s challenging; and then there’s cheap. Kohler is cheap: not challenging. I’m not going to rehash why, because that argument has been done to death already by the player base.
So why bother with trash mobs and terrible, unfun minibosses like Kohler for a mere 3 extra tokens and “up to” 4s? Not worth the time. In that same amount of time, you could have cleared a different exp path for another 60 tokens and 26s.
It’s that simple.
Just want to say that bosses leave about 11s PLUS bag of goods containing up to 4s. Killing him is quite profitable atm, especially considering the fact how cheap he is.
Orr now offers 3g+/hr.
Please provide backup to this statement.
You can farm Orr for hours and not receive a single rare in full MF gear, whereas you’re guaranteed to receive 1.5g from AC.
What he means Orr that should be the Arah Dungeon. A party can kill two bosses in Forgotten path around 4-5 mins to get dungeon tokens. Two bosses drop 10 silvers each (with an omnomberry bar =14s) and one Bags of Wondrous Goods (3 tokens, 400 karma, 3s).
Exit the dungeon, repeat 7 runs in 30 minutes, , gaining 28s x7 + 6s x7= 2.38 gold, 5.6k karma and 42 tokens. Therefore, you can earn up to 4.76g or even more. The 3g+/hr is the min income. No point to finish the whole dungeon.
Currently, guild wars 2 is dungeon war 2, deletes all the maps, just keep dungeons and Lion’s Arch with new buggy FotM. Dynamic events is good to have 30 minutes gap to prevent farm or botting. However, it forces people to play the dungeons. Also, it will be the problem in some maps, which are some dead npcs in the town. I wish ArenaNet can spend more time on balancing and game issues. Not to mention the NPC glitches in Lost Shores event.
Perfectly true. I’m not finding anymore a group doing ARAH. Just a group of speedfarmer doing first 2 bosses farming like explained on the quoted post, reset.
Shortly, the old tokenfarm. I was happy arah was back to the glory closing the waypoint door trick for lupicus, now is back to a farm for newbies who soon will wear the complete set, running with MF armor, with any idea of what arah is and what was after first bosses. I remember when Anet devs was so proud to have found a way to get rid of token farmers, not promoting the first boss farm+reset anymore..
First boss(es?) gives only 3 tokens, as opposed to 8. So it’s much less worth!! But you’re right, those tokens should be granted later, definitely not after 1 boss.
Feel free to defend your overpowered build.
I actually main a Mesmer and have played many specs. As a previous posted pointed out, the DPS on this D/D Ele build is too great. When I bunker spec my Mes, I have negligable DPS — why should you get to be an armored cannon? Sorry, it’s too good.
If you have negligible dps as a bunker mes, you obviously doing something wrong! As a serious note, I can handle 3-4 players usually as a bunker mes and still kill them (well, they kill themselves). Also, playing mes is nowhere near hard Anet thought it would be. As of this moment mes is similiary in depth to a thief, in other words, it’s a faceroll proffesion. I know it because I have one and I got so kittening bored of it and being so OP at the same time I’m no longer playing one. It’s so OP it must be nerfed, no?
(edited by haviz.1340)
I would do that but I’m occupying EU serv ;<
The reason progress is character bound is to promote the design philosophy behind the game. This includes: no grind; letting the player have fun; letting the player play the way they want to.
It’s quite obvious actually.
What a troll … again .. sarcasm for the win ey ?
And yes fractal difficulty is soulbound so you are not able to run difficulty 20 with your alt which has no gear, etc.
Maybe our alt got a gear? Ever occured to you it’s quite possible, no?

So supposing I have a character at level 10, but now I want to use another class for fractals. It means I’d have to start from 1 again and grind my way back up to 10.
That isn’t game philosophy. That’s just hassle for no reason.
Mate, it was quite obvious what he did there. And I wholeheartedly agree with him.
Btw, I thought that inverse law of female armour was mostly applied for heavy armours. Might have been mistaken though.
That depends, is a chainmail bikini light or heavy armor?
Chainmail bikini is always heavy armour, is it not? ;p
Just had a long lesion in sPvP last night and noticed that wall of reflection does not seem to work against mesmers attacks.
Is this the case for others also?
It would be great if next time you had described what kind of mesmer attacks wont work against WoR. Because some do and some don’t.
Oh, and I thought that was the point of the whole concept of fractals. To segregate people. Surely designers must have felt that way, can’t imagine otherwise.
I would like to remove them from eles and transfer to engineer. Might function better with them, wouldn’t you agree?
Okay, but how is that activity described as a casting? Anyway, it’s not like you can’t use Distortion with mesmer.
Signet passive healing is a strong point of it, but active healing is really bad and as an ele you need some emergency heals. You already got an access to a lot of passive healing (regen, soothing mist).
MG is a ninja leap finisher. Next patch notes: removed unintended leap finisher from magnetic grasp.
I would like to see, removed unintended blow back from guardian wall skills. Especially when you get knocked down at the wall, and get stuck in a super stun lock without stability
Yea, they could just remove leap finisher to be in line with the tooltip. The thing is, it is an actual leap. Or not? To me it function like every leap other proffesions got access to.
I hope the fire shield you get from using magnetic grasp in a fire field NOT procc’ing auro traits (e.g., fury, swiftness, protection) is a bug and they get around to fixing it before next year.
If it’s an intended change, than that blows….
Em, I don’t know if you noticed but you don’t get fire shield after 15/11 patch. It says you get, but you actually don’t. Just check your boons/conds UI. That’s why you don’t get boons from aura traits, because you never get fire shield to begin with. Well, you get sometimes, like in 5% of cases.
Eliminating the nerf of Support/DPS potential from the discussion/argument. This simple change has removed the enjoyment/FUN FACTOR from many builds.
This UNINTENDED mechanic allowed for one of the most immersive experiences I have ever had in any MMO to date. It’s that simple, and Yes it could of been handled much much better.
I am one of the many considering D/D as illustrated by the view count of this post:
It has risen from 10k to 50k over this week. We are still here! We enjoy this class immensly!
Please divulge your thoughts and desires of this change/fix ARENANET.
Having watched that video, I can imagine the next profession patch notes:
Elementalist
- Mist Form no longer allows the casting of finishers as intended
- Signet of Healing’s effectiveness has been reduced by 50% to scale with other healing skills
- Swiftness boons on the Elementalist have had their durations reduced by 33%
When did mist form allow casting finishers? If I’m not mistaken, when you use mist form you lose all your traits so EA couldn’t have possibly trigger. You can use Arcane Wave but he doesn’t have it equipped. I’m just confused what did you mean by that.
Signet of Healing is already bad, there are better choices. Glyph should be pretty much a standard choice at the moment (especially in burst meta) with Ether Renewal picked when you would need extra cond removal.
No thank you.
You may have just finished level 12 with your guardian in full exotics and some ascended gear. I do not want to run level 13 with your new 80 Ele in rares that you suck at playing – An example, not aimed at you specifically.
- You can still pick lower than 13 lvl.
- Game is easy enough
- I thought gear doesn’t matter that much
- If someone’s level 80 they shouldn’t suck at one proffesion and be good at another unless you bought that level (crafting)
- If you think gear will carry you, you’re just bad
Agreed on whole suggestion. Finding people for other dungeons than fractals have become somewhat difficult. Everyone I know runs fractals to get new shinies. And since we’re on the path to become like a standard mmo, I don’t see a particular reason why not to implement that kind of system which is almost a standard feature there now.
Btw, I thought that inverse law of female armour was mostly applied for heavy armours. Might have been mistaken though.
Actually, AC is one the most easy dungeons out there, both in story and explorable mode.
This all exotics or no dungeon thing is completely idiotic. I have, as a test, run many dungeons in rare only. Not even MW. And been fine.
Skill > Gear any day of the week. Build right, don’t suck, and you’ll be fine.
Does MW mean masterworks? Because masterworks are worse than rares.
Please, no ‘LFG tools’. It would kill the social aspect as it did in WoW.
What social aspect? As of this moment you can take anyone who responds to you shout without even saying ‘hi’.
Gonna play a white knight’s role this time. You don’t have to do those dungeons. You have plenty of other content to do. They might be a little deserted but you can always bring your friends/guildies! That’s the beauty of the game without a necessary grind and whole game being the endgame.
Mate, I’m not going to bash on you for white knighting, but I bought this game to play for fun, in my downtime to relax. I don’t HAVE to do the content no, But I WANT to do the content, if I’m already being told I can’t do something because of some artificial boundaries that the company put up (fractal levels) in something I do for FUN there is a problem. I can say you don’t have to pvp or PVE, but that shouldn’t even be brought up, this game was advertised as play how you want. Not oh sorry now you can’t do something because you don’t have X. This goes against the foundation of this whole game.
Pretty much everything they implemented this weekend goes against the foundation of this whole game. But folks spoken and anet listened. Anyway, if you are on EU serv, I’m happy to run level 1 fractals, because for some strange design reason I have to repeat them for my other characters ;(
Why the hell is everyone saying its not made for level 80’s in this thread, IM NOT a lowbie. I have 2 80’s I tried to get in.
“But keep in mind, our aim was to challenge level 80 players. Going in at low levels is not for the faint of heart!” from https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/leah-rivera-on-the-new-fractals-of-the-mist-dungeon/
Were you expecting different outcome? It’s for levels 80 with full exotics. It’s an elite content, you can’t just wander in with level 2 with no skills unlocked, no traits unlocked, no weapon swap unlocked and most importantly not good enough gear. This game seriously needs gear checks. Less QQ, more pew pew. Get level 80 and appropiate gear first. Then you can enjoy gw2 to its fullest
Go back to WoW.
Great arguments there but you didn’t quite understand what I said. And for the record I have never played WoW or any other popular mmos.
Zergs are more intense. You’re fighting not only a horde of mobs but also an everpresent lag!
through forced pve gear grinds….lol.
Yes, through forced pve gear grinds. They wanted raids, more character progression and everything else that comes with vertical progression.
The people that picked up the game blindly without researching it at all want gear progression. Whatever will tide them over until the next WoW patch or FF14 or whatever comes out next.
The GW1 fans and the crowd of people that don’t want to play another version of WoW (people who have been following the game for years) did not want this. And we would have been way more vocal earlier if we had -any- reason to expect that this could possibly get dropped on us out of the blue.
Wrong !!!! nobody specifically said they wanted a gear grind, they just wanted something meaningful to do once they reached level cap, instead of farming plinx over and over……and Anet in its panicked, unimaginative state, and all the while hemorrhaging players, decided what we have now was the answer.
You are also wrong about GW1 players, they were some of the most vocal looking for change…they largely felt that in GW1 you could happily play at any level and still be doing something meaningful, unlike GW2…..its just that Anets answer was way of the mark.
Please stop with your silly “WoW” generalisation, it just makes you look silly and uninformed….most players came here from WoW, rift, DDO, LOTRO, LoL etc because they were looking for what Anet promised…and failed to deliver.
They delivered it mostly. With bait & switch.

Do you even know how GW2 is supposed to work? Maybe you would be better served by one of the many other gear-checking games.
When Anet change their philosophy, nothing is sure. Might as well add gear checks.

Then don’t upscale any player less than level 80 if that’s the scenario, why upscale them and then have them unable to get a group? troll much?
Maybe to run with a friends/guilds who won’t care if you are less effective? They said in blog post that you can go with lower level character but it’s designed to be difficult for levels 80.
lol. what we have here is a failure to communicate. read carefully. all other things being equal -traits, etc (everyone gets those), the gear gives significantly better stats. stats matter esp in small scale wvwvw. I should be able to get those stats by doing things other than dungeon grinds.
How is that a failure in communication. People wanted to have gear adventage in wvw. And now they have.
Sorry, if I caused any confusion. The starting zone battles and all were good but there isn’t much replay to them. This is the first(second if you count Mad King) endgame battle that gives good drop and is fun. Also for the amount of people that were there, which was a lot, it didn’t lag even nearly as much as the dragon bosses.
Fightning kholer with a group of people being there for the first time might be fun . Seeing them being pulled in and then just devastated is so freaking funny.

But with ascended gear idea both sides are satisfied. Content locusts will farm fractals while everyone else will work on their exotics. Isn’t that a beautiful design?
exotics aren’t nearly as good as the ascended. why bother to work on exotics now?
Because the content has been gated. You will need exotics if you want to pug fractals. Also, some exotics looks nice!

Power creep doesn’t work when you only need one set of gear… You get ascended then you start running regular dungeons for the cosmetic gear… The same thing everyone has been doing since September when they already hit the gear ceiling. It doesn’t change anything. The game is still easy and short.
Mate, no one runs dungeons for cosmetic rewards. People want shinies with stats, not just shinies. How many people actually transmutate dungeon armours/weapons? Probably not much. Check how desolate are areas with old dungeons, they became obsolete. Yesterday I couldn’t find 2 people for arah and once I did they wanted to skip every trash mob so they left -.-
I was running dungeons largely for cosmetics.
Of course, no reason to now.
May as well just wait a month or two until you can get Ascended gear.
Sure they said it would be a slow rollout. They said a lot of things.
I share your pain. I wanted 2nd shiny set of arah for my new guardian but it might be a bit too difficult to do with everyone doing fractals.

lol. no, unless you want to get stomped in wvwvw, this is mandatory. sorry.
Stomped? Ascended gear is slightly more powerful, won’t make you pew pew others in zvz (zerg vs zerg).
lol +20% better is hardly what I’d consider slightly more powerful, and this is just the beginning of the treadmill. some of us don’t run with zergs either.
Those are item stats. You still have your basic+trait stats. Besides, you can still overcome your enemy with skillful play!
Would you care to post your traits and equipment? I’m curious as a brother in arms.
Hey all!
I just went through the Ancient Karka battle and I have to admit that it is truly the first good Boss Encounter in GW2. It had decent loot and it was fun. ArenaNet, if you are reading this you should know that people really like boss battles like Mad King and Karka and that if you increase rewards (and not just add pebbles) people will really enjoy the endgame more. What my suggestion is that you fix the loot on the Dragon Bosses and then people will once again be pleased. The reason is simple- the Dragons are fun overall as a fights (except for some of the lagg and rendering which we are sure that with time you will fix) ,but if you add more loot and rewards there would be more incentive for players to repeat the content.
Best Regards,
Krion from KrionStudio
What’s wrong with other bosses? For instance, Giganticus Lupicus fight is pretty solid and engaging.
@haviz.1340:
That’s not white knight. That’s devil’s advocate.
Also if you want to have complete gear you need to do the fractal dungeons. That’s a major departure from GW1 and the stated design principles of GW2.Player segregation is bad design. I can’t believe anet wouldn’t see this as a potential problem, so they must think it’s worth the cost.
Gw2 is already a major departure. Almost nothing was carried over, maybe except name, lore, name of few proffesions and no monthly fees.

If they did that then there would never be any chance a new player could play teh dungeon in a month.
If they did not that then there would never be any chance a new alt could play teh dungeon in a month.
I think they did it the wrong way. Story mode should be MORE rewarding than explorable – but can only be run by each character once (as the lead). This way people will be jumping to do story mode, and when there’s no one running story they can idle through explorable.
Hope they change it that way anyway.
Why would something easy reward you better than something harder? Besides, what reward at level 30 (AC) could be better than tokens for 80 lvl exotics?
Hang on, if I’ve completed level 1 of the fractals that means I can’t just choose to do level 1 again? :/ Hmm this was in the patch notes wasn’t it… goes to look
Shinies starts to drop at level 10+. And people do FoTM for shinies.

What a horrible turn of events for this game.
Horrible? I thought people wanted gear progression. I must have been living under the rock.
That would mean that eventually no one would want to run lvl 1 unless they’re completely new to the game.
Playing clairvoyant now, but in about 1 month that will be an actual situation. And try to play then with your alts cause you got bored of all that broad access to numerous builds and playstyles with one proffesion.
Gonna play a white knight’s role this time. You don’t have to do those dungeons. You have plenty of other content to do. They might be a little deserted but you can always bring your friends/guildies! That’s the beauty of the game without a necessary grind and whole game being the endgame.
Try to tell that most people who believe that drop rate is back to normal. Unid dyes cost almost 8s on TP right now, so they’re not exactly back to normal. The price is more than twice of what it used to be.
It’s probably because of gathering of all heroes of tyria in southsun cove. Should return to normal situation after this weekend.
I support this in 100%. With each new feature we are closer to standard mmos so why not implement another standard mmo feature? Shouting in map chat is so old and doesn’t belong to truly AAA mmo.
Last time I checked I was in full MF gear, and mobs still died. QQ moar pl0x.
You are advocating that drops are not good enough and that gear is too good aswell.
You’re actually a prime example to show what’s wrong with +magic find.
Thank you for your outstanding input. So, we had rank elitism in GW1, now let’s introduce gear elitism in GW2? Thanks but no thanks.
You claim that it’s not as effective as other gears. (I did AC in green gear and nobody gave a flying kitten about it, yet we succeeded.) But let’s say you’re right and it’s not really as effective. Result? I go out and kill mobs a bit slower, and in return I got the chance for better rewards. Still can’t see the problem with it.
Also please don’t act like it would be impossible to do any dungeon if one member of the party is in full MF gear. It’s clearly not, even if all party members were in ful MF gear.
We already have gear elitism in GW2, even more severe in its prequel. Just check new content!
Another thing, yes you can complete dungeon with full MF gear losing 1071 in the primary stat. Even if whole group is geared up in MF gear. Splendid right? The issue is that you contribute less for more profit_. Besides, anyone who uses MF gear in dungeons has something wrong with rational thinking. How many mobs do you kill per path in dungeon when most people skip them anyway?
