The most sensible thing would be the skin can be purchased and applied normally as we can now i.e double click the skin item mailed to you to apply.
After that it will be in the wardrobe for you to apply on other armor using charges.
Thanks and sorry about that. I actually saw the thread when it was posted and forgot about it entirely. The question didn’t cross my mind then
After some consideration, I’m gonna get this after all. Cos Mistfire is just friggin cool.
However I have questions regarding the golem banker. When does the two weeks timer starts?
Upon
- Purchase?
- Collection of purchase (from mail probably)?
- Activating the golem?
I wanna save the golem for future use.
Transmutation Crystals can be directly converted into charges, and Transmutation Stones can be converted at a
three-to-one rate.
I suppose CAN means we have a choice? We can still retain our stones to use for < lvl 80 items?
Refund? No.
Consider stones to charges conversion a PRIVILEGE.
Unless you think it is better to throw away your stones. Of course, you may.
This is the problem with mixing and matching armors. It isn’t just about colors, but materials too.
Reducing the amount of skills that area ground-targeted. Looking at you, Grenade Kit.
There is an option for ground targeting where you can cast on where your cursor is pointing. Only downside is you can’t see the aoe circle before you cast.
It is a must have for me.
Devs, is it possible that after we purchase a skin, we are given an option to unlock it right into our wardrobe (and maybe get back respective number of charges) rather than having to apply it onto SOMETHING.
I mean, yes we can apply it onto a useless white item if we wanna keep it for future use. But that will waste a charge. Keeping the purchase in the bank takes up a slot.
Braham mace and shield.
Shut up and take my money.
LBs are really more of a sidearm in gw2.
Be it warrior or ranger.
Even an archer ranger will fare better with SBs.
Anet had considered our gaming health and I truly appreciate that.
I like the R key autorun feature. It saved my finger/wrist muscle.
And the autocast function for skills.
There are also 10 ob shards and icy runestones. But I hope there are more options for other items as well. Like sometimes to fulfill the karma vendor dailies, I buy karma food ingredients which I have to click many times as well.
And like the OP said using essense, pots and bags in stacks requires strain on finger muscle. Of course opening 250 bags at a go requires lots of free inv space.
For some who doesn’t know, Microsoft Accessibility allows you to assign mouse click to a key on the keyboard. I assigned it to NumPad 5 with NumLock off. I still have to double tap the keys but it is healthier than clicking the mouse.
Yea I wonder what are they thinking of? I am sure if the wardrobe thing was announced earlier these skins will sell better.
Like for me I will buy the kasmeer staff skin even tho I have no intention of using it now.
Because I bought a few skins I like and store them in the bank.
Costumes too.
Won’t they earn more money that way? Isn’t sales their main goal?
I am pretty sure by the time they read this (if they ever do), the wardrobe system is more or less completed and ready for release on April so this is not going to change.
However, I do hope that at least this is taken into consideration and perhaps work towards future releases.
I like the idea of commander having a battalion with several squad leaders.
Perhaps have a seperate pin for squad leader tags (maybe color?). Players who purchase the Commander’s Compendium can toggle between commander and squad leader.
Also, perhaps wvw ranking can unlock squad leader slots. So new commanders cannot command huge zergs.
No I don’t mean duplicate costumes. This has nothing to do with wardrobe annoucement (except that now it is announced I really want it back T_T).
I mean costumes I’ve bought and somehow gone which I suspected deleted along with one of my characters.
I remembered I bought the pirate costume a year ago, but now I can’t find it on any of my characters. I think I might have deleted it accidentally along with one of my older characters.
Does Anet entertain such requests to retrieve it? I bought it a year ago before I took a year break from the game, and I have no idea when it was lost. I hope the purchase log still kept it.
Contains one random armor dye from a pool of 25 colors, including six exclusive new color.
Means when I open up one, I will get one out of the 25 palette.
Minus 6 exclusive new (which I supposed are those 6 enamel dyes) means 19 random in the pool.
I suppose those 19 can will be anything from rare to master to fine which are all pre-selected already.
Am I getting this right?
How do we know what are the 19 colors?
I open up 5 and got 3 fine, 2 master. Not even a rare. Did I got unlucky and hit 5 of the 19?
Or it can be ANY colors from the 400+ colors?
Hylek!
No really…Kodan or Tengu.
Or both.
But for certain upgrades, the pricing is WAY too high. Specifically, bag slot expansions, bank tab expansions, and to a lesser extent as its been newly introduced, collection size expanders.
Try not to look at it that our banks slots and character slots are farmed.
We BOUGHT them. Like we buy an ice cream or a movie ticket. Like we buy the game itself when we pay at the checkout counter.
I am sure they know.
Unless they say those items on sale sold like hot cakes so far.
You cannot sell lower than the highest offered price.
If someone wanna offer 1s for your shredded rag, you can’t go sell it at 50 copper. That rag will automatically be sold to the highest offer and you get your silver.
The weapons look really nice. They will be pretty rare as they are rewarded via tournament tickets, only 1st to 5th will be able to buy one of those awesome skins:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/get-ready-for-wvw-spring-tournament-2014/
I can live with that.
What I don’t like is that these new and cool hair styles are locked behind – AGAIN – Gem store. Why can’t we use those hair styles upon creation or like in WoW going to a hair dresser and change our hair style for in game gold?
There is nothing wrong offering cosmetic privileges to players who pay cash.
And you can convert game gold to gems.

Actually, why don’t they make the recipe sellable like Light of Dwayna? Just wondering.
I take back my remark on the ugly rifle being ugly in game. It looks awesome from dulfy. It was my graphic settings.
Once you’ve changed the color once, you cannot change it again? That’s lame. Mine is green and I want it blue. Why is it such a big deal to change colors more than once??
I didn’t know which one would make it blue, to be completely honest.
Ah, whatever man.
/facepalm
Humanity is hopeless.
Uh-huh.
Uh-huh.
Search around for answers is the standard answer you gonna get. And useful cos they offer more indepth explanations.
But if you want some quick answers:
GW2 is a “when in doubt, go berserker” game. Mesmers can’t really go wrong with zerkers.
You gonna need GS cos down the road you gonna get lazy and press 1 from range.
But don’t do that in dungeons or you gonna get booted. GS is a subpar weapon.
Sword x2 or Sword/Focus is a standard safe bet.
Runes…when in doubt, use jewels first (in this case ruby). Then look for answers slowly or discover them yourself.
Boosts
All boosters are a waste of $$$. I don’t think Anet is stupid but I still don’t know why they put them on sale. Oh well, I am not complaning. Just don’t buy them.
The only reason why anyone uses the boosters is because they dropped from BL chests and are now taking up a bank slot.
Toys
These are subjective.
Personally I feel they are rather expensive. Especially the musical items. $10 ohmygawd.
Still, when I am bored, I do stupid things with money (like I do in shopping malls.)
I don’t understand minis. They are a completionist trap. Why the hell you need so many minis for?!? Barely anyone notices them if you carry one around, and for sure no one cares if your bank tabs look complete or not. Not for that price.
Quaggan minis are different tho. Because quaggans
Upgrades
Digital Deluxe Upgrade. $25 for bunch of useless stuff. You get a dumb mini a useless skill to show people you bought it.
Or $25 for a nice dinner with girlfriend. I’m having a hard time choosing.
Basic Ore Node Pack. $10. 3 copper, 3 silver and 3 gold ores everyday. A very easy way to get your daily gathering achievement. OR, you can find the nearest rich ore. This is very useful if you’ve mined all the copper, silver and gold ore in the entire world and somehow need 3 more of each.
Finishers are dumb. In Wvw, no one knows your name. And at $8 apiece, I don’t see why I wanna put a cow on you and run off.
Okay the better part of Upgrades section.
Character slots. At $10 a character I feel it is totally worth it. Most of us will NEED a few.
Bank tab and collection expander. Okay these are almost essential. BUT VERY EXPENSIVE. Yes it might look cheap at first. But it adds up.
11 bank tabs – $82.50
5 collection expanders $50
Total it is $132.50
Is it worth it? Well…yes if you are playing the game long term. These are permanent and it is very hard to play the game with only 30 bank slots.
Personally, as an artist myself, I know these work needs to be paid in dollars and cents. I take it I’ve paid my year of subscription and the rest of my life too. But if possible, wait for a discount.
P.S By the way there is really not many reasons to get collections expander since you hardly fill up 1.5k items except for a few you farm regularly like ori ores/ancient wood, bloodstone dusts/dragonite ores etc. I use them up or sell them the moment they fill up.
For market flippers, yes they gonna need them. Many hold a few thousands ectos on hand and other random stuff.
Bag slots. $5 a slot/ $15 a toon max.
I say while it is not expensive (kinda worth it) it is not neccessary for most people. Maybe on their main and that is it. I got it on 3 toons and I barely fill up except my main.
Also, it will be great if bag slots are account bound. If I want to delete a toon that I expanded bag slots on, I will love to be able to transfer them to a new one.
Or maybe pay some gems to recover bag slots from a toon.
Style
Armor sets are worth it. For $10, I get some sweet looking armor. Personally I don’t feel the one time use a large problem since it is very unlikely I need multiple copies. If I do, I don’t mind paying another $10. It will be cool tho if these armor skin pieces can be MFed. Sometimes we don’t use every piece and perhaps 4 leftover pieces can be forged into a random armor piece skin.
Single armor piece skins, backpack skins, weapon skins. Some of these items are a hit while some are just meh. Price wise, I am rather comfortable with it. $6 for a quiver is totally cool for me, but eyepatch…maybe not.
Town clothes are underrated. Although I feel they are a little costly, I love them and will buy them if they are cool. Like for the pirate outfit, the cannon skill is awesome! When are we getting wedding gowns?
Special
Most of these items are worthless to me.
Mystic forge stone ($3 apiece?!), revive orb, normal transmutation crystal, dye pack etc. I wonder who buy these.
Metabolic primer might be the only thing that is worthy. And it is cheap. $1.50 for a 12 hours effect.
Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic is useful but a little expensive. Still, something that you buy and enjoy, and forget the $10 you paid. WvW zergs gotta love this.
Transmutation Crystal are almost essential to vain players. The price is fine too.
Transmutation Splitter. Important for transferring of soulbound items to another toon. For $3, you’d better transferring legendaries. Actually you need a transmutation crystal ($2.50) as well so a transfer cost $5.50. Worth it? Hell yea.
Black Lion Salvage Kit. Most of us get these from BL chests I bet. We don’t use it often only when retrieving expensive runes or salvaging exotics. It is rather cheap for 25 charges.
BL keys are subjective. Espcially the contents changes, buff/nerfs frequently. Love it or hate it, face it. Most of your transmutation crystals, BL salvage kits and booster comes from these.
P.S is there really a need for BL chests in the game???
Upgrade Extractor. Very important item for very expensive upgrades. It all comes down to how much gold $3 is worth. For now, not many upgrades are worth it. I’d rather turn the $3 into gold and use it to buy the upgrade.
Black Lion Introductory Package - $20. NO. MEANS. NO.
Services
Instant Repair Canister, Merchant Express, Bank Access Express,Trading Post Express. Okay these are not expensive…but I don’t really use them. Like I stock a ton of these for FREE from dailies and BL chests and even so I don’t use them.
Banker Golem (2 weeks). Fair price. $6.25 unlimited easy access of bank for 2 weeks is actually a ton of convenience for those who rain loots. Personally, I don’t rain loots and I’ve got more than enough bag slots. I don’t hardcore farm either so there is no need for me to stay at a place for hours without getting to a bank.
Custom Arena Starter Kit. Share it with a group of friends and it will cost you less than your breakfast. Almost essential for hardcore pvp groups. (Oh c’mon share it with 5 guys and it will cost like $4/person for a month!) Custom Arena Time Token add 5 more days for $2.
Self-Style Hair Kit/ Total Makeover Kit. Worth keeping a few at hand. New gem exclusive hair are added once in a blue moon so why not. It is a little pricey but just like the real world, looks are pricey.
Unlimited Harvest tools. Okay..these ARE expensive. Yea sure unlimited charges sounds good. BUT it is 1k gems here we are talking about. Even if you run all ori ores in the world in a single toon everyday, it will take you a LOOOOOONG time to use up 1k gems worth of pick. If it is convenience we are talking about, tool merchants are really easy to find. Watchwork Mining Pick was the only one I bought since it gives me watchwork sprockets.
Name Change Contract is expensive but I feel quite justified. Teaches us to think hard before we decide on dumb names. I keep one at hand to check for name availability.

I don’t see why there is a need for the dev to inform you to or not to hold onto event items.
Just like ascended rings, if they want they can make them upgradable into the whatever next rarity level they implement, salvagable or merely as useless now.
They don’t have to tell you. You decide for yourself.
Snotty? Welcome to the real world made of money.
If you have money, you can come into the game with 200 achievement points and 5 legendaries.
“These guys come simply used, cash. They have no game skill, and never been through farming.”
See that 18 year old university student who has never worked in his life driving his Posche into the campus getting all the girls?
You don’t have to be impressed by him. You don’t have like him.
He don’t need it from you either.
I’ve partied people wielding legendaries and have no idea how to even run CoF.
Someone was holding Bifrost with less than 1k achievement points, being a noob and a burden at HotW. I’ve been saving up like mad for the precursor Legend but for every 100g I save the price goes up by 200g. I am jealous and I am not gonna deny. I deserve the Bifrost more than him.
But no one will care. He got the Bifrost and I don’t. The Posche kitten got the car and girls while the poor goody two shoes don’t. The school principal will even like him more than you. That is all that matters.
People who pay cash for gems are income source for Anet. Their money fuels the company, keeps the artists and programmers alive. If you pay cash for gems, you are worth more than ten players who refuses to.
VFX company Rhythm & Hues went bankrupt just as Life of Pi box office passed half a billion dollars and won the best VFX oscar award. Hundreds of staff went jobless. Without money no matter how magnificent the work, is pointless.
An article I read some time ago about the real world.
Let’s say that the person you love the most has just been shot. He or she is lying in the street, bleeding and screaming. A guy rushes up and says, “Step aside.” He looks over your loved one’s bullet wound and pulls out a pocket knife — he’s going to operate right there in the street.
You ask, “Are you a doctor?”
The guy says, “No.”
You say, “But you know what you’re doing, right? You’re an old Army medic, or …”
At this point the guy becomes annoyed. He tells you that he is a nice guy, he is honest, he is always on time. He tells you that he is a great son to his mother and has a rich life full of fulfilling hobbies, and he boasts that he never uses foul language.
Confused, you say, “How does any of that kittening matter when my (wife/husband/best friend/parent) is lying here bleeding! I need somebody who knows how to operate on bullet wounds! Can you do that or not?!?”
Now the man becomes agitated — why are you being shallow and selfish? Do you not care about any of his other good qualities? Didn’t you just hear him say that he always remembers his girlfriend’s birthday? In light of all of the good things he does, does it really matter if he knows how to perform surgery?
In that panicked moment, you will take your bloody hands and shake him by the shoulders, screaming, "Yes, I’m saying that none of that other kitten matters, because in this specific situation, I just need somebody who can stop the bleeding, you crazy kittening kitten.
So here is my terrible truth about the adult world: You are in that very situation every single day. Only you are the confused guy with the pocket knife. All of society is the bleeding gunshot victim.
If you want to know why society seems to shun you, or why you seem to get no respect, it’s because society is full of people who need things. They need houses built, they need food to eat, they need entertainment, they need fulfilling sexual relationships. You arrived at the scene of that emergency, holding your pocket knife, by virtue of your birth — the moment you came into the world, you became part of a system designed purely to see to people’s needs.
Something I really like to have:
An item that allows changing of equipment icon/logo in inventory.
For those of us who has got multiple armor sets will know :P
Also, more quiver skins are always welcomed. The current one is pretty unattractive and matches few armor color combis. But I am sure more are on the way through events.
Yea why buy LV when Braun Buffel is good?
NO…I WANT LV >:(
Which part of the item description mentioned you can changed your name?
I haven’t bought any and I know you can’t.
I am surprised you need to buy one to find that out.
Or if they can implement infusion for amulets.
Infusion makes the item account bound again.
Using real cash to buy gems are for people who has an income and lesser time for the game.
Using gold to convert to gems are for those willing to spend more time in the game farming gold.
If you want to use in game gold, spend more time observing the exchange rate and change when the rate is good. Not change when there is a sale going on.
Don’t blame every f-ing thing on Anet.
Yes please nerf them.
Ranger are supposed to be bad. If they can beat anyone, something must be wrong and gotta be fixed
Do you think switching from fire attunement to lightning attunement is the same as switching from staff to D/D?
No it is not the same. No weapon switching is a handicap.
We have to plan beforehand what kind of fights we are facing and switch accordingly.
Of course eles are powerful classes and allowing weapon switching makes them OP. I am not asking for weapons switching, but please do consider this when nerfing eles.
We have to plan more, and press alot more buttons to achieve results other classes can do so with ease.
Simple stuff
====
Consider these two situations.
1. You are shopping for fruits and someone tries to sell you a hairdryer. He is telling you one day you will need one and he has the best one right there.
2. You need a hairdryer. So you went online did some research on finding a good one and purchased it.
Which one do you prefer?
Go play your elementalist, however way you want to. It is a fun class and don’t let just listen to my statement. Let the game prove it to you.
Stay in one attunement, and even if you are the only one in the world who does that, so be it. It is your toon. Why the !@#$% care about other’s opinion? Because you fear your elementalist will fail?
When you decide your elementalist is somewhat lacking in an area, go find out why. Experiment, online research, whatever.
Slightly more technical stuff
====
If you are wondering if it is possible, yes it is.
I leveled mine using 3 attunements Fire, Lightning and Earth.
3 attunements because I get bored not because I had to.
So when I got bored of seeing fire, I changed to lightning for flashy stuff. I stayed in an attunement for hours before I got bored again. If you won’t get bored, feel free to stay in fire all the way.
The technical stuff, and something you might not like to hear
===========
That was when I was leveling on PVE map. I do dungeons all day round and things are different.
Elementalist is a very powerful and versatile class. Without full use of blah blah blah yada yada…refer to 100 other posts above.
Fact: You will never be as good as other elementalists. Not a problem unless you are working towards world ranking #1 elementalist and there is a Nobel Award for that.
Now for something you might be glad to hear and try.
=========
Stick to fire.
Use tweak your build/play style to keep yourself alive.
When you don’t drop like a fly in dungeon, no one will notice if your playstyle. This way you are still welcomed in dungeon runs.
First of all, thanks for the prompt reply.
Secondly, thanks for pointing that out. My computer was indeed displaying a foreign time. It did fix the problem, so to speak.
Thirdly, with all due respect, this is unacceptable. I don’t see why game content has to be affect by computer clock. Windows can display multiple clock and only 1 date. It can display 2:30am, 10:00pm and as many clock as it like but it is Saturday on my computer yet it could be Friday depending where I am now. If my work dictates I set my computer time to a different timezone, I can’t do dailies anymore?
Pardon me, this thing needs a hot fix fast.
Still, thanks for pointing me in the correct direction.
4 actually. But I did complete the first day. However it reset in the afternoon after which I cannot complete anymore. Everyday, 2 out of the 5 categories will be bugged. There is no pattern to which particular ones, but always 2 out of the 5.
Submitted a tix and no reply. Already 3 laurels down and not sure when you guys are gonna fix it. This is not a farm-able currency. Everyday I can earn only 1 and every month 10. And each day I fail to complete is a laurel short. I am not sure if you are aware how scarce this currency is.
Fix it. Soon. Please.
Thanks.
You can’t look at them this way.
Crest/orbs gvies 20/14/14
So six crests/orbs gives 120/84/84
Runes give 165/50 plus a 6th special stat
Depending on your build, if you would give up 84 tertiary and 34 secondary stats for 45 primary stat. I know some would.
Are runes better because they are more expensive? Not neccessarily. It merely reflects the demand. I wouldn’t call runes top-tier items nor crests/orbs inferior.
My ele uses full crests while my warrior uses 6 runes and orbs.
Btw, you can slot crests into back item, trinkets and weapons as well.
<—- Lvl 80 ele, ranger, warrior, thief
Ranger is my second fave next to ele. She has the best survivability in PVE and even dungeons among all my classes. And I am not even using warhorn.
I bet they are thinking Legolas or Aragon.
They are somewhat lacking in pvp I agree.
Good job only being viable with an Bugged build OP, surely it says alot about the profession if thats the only viable thing at you,
NotI will ignore the bad grammar. I’m just sad that you were not able to enjoy the fun that is Evasive Arcana before it got fixed.
Then I am happy for you that you can start enjoying other fun aspect of elementalist, now that it is fixed.
Really? Seriously? The bug in evasive arcana is the only fun thing in elementalist?
<— dungeon elementalist here. Stopped using evasive arcana long ago. Do dungeons just fine with no problem of suriving.
Hi I am running a similar build.
Though I gave up the last 10 arcane on 10% more damage on fire. That is because I don’t find evasive arcana (or anything in the last tier of arcane very useful). Good thing since it is now nerfed (and bugged)
10% more damage on fire benefits more from various weapon combinations, especially staff.
I am running full PVT gears. I agree D/D benefits from many stats, but I chose PVT because more often than not I find myself RTL or burning speed into a cluster of dungeon mobs (it is my natual reflex I do this when I see mob cluster…too juicy to pass up!). I would need enough survivability to perform a series of combos and get out alive.
PVT gears would benefit me more than precision as it is good for other weapon combi as well.
My weapons all stay PVT, mainly because I am too lazy to plan other sets. Plus I am glad to take Toughness and Vitality over crits. Yup even for staff (you never know).
Trinkets are PVT as well for the same reasons. The only way to get full PVT exotic trinket set now is wvw.
I used to run cleric set, but seriously the heal on ele isn’t at all amazing. So I trade in heal for power and survivability. I retain the full water spec.
Indeed.
Elementalist is not the only answer to burrows. It does makes the work alot easier.
Once I ran ac3 with a group of pugs consisting of warriors guardians thiefs and rangers. No eles.
At first I thought it ain’t gonna work out, but the group was so experienced they clear the burrow part pretty fast with no problem at all. Gotta say I was very surprised myself.
It proves a group of people who knows what they are doing > level and class.
I feel for you bro.
Dungeon run is farming. No way you can keep doing the runs everyday for a month and enjoy every bit of it. I can do dungeon runs 3am at night half asleep I don’t see any enjoyment. I just wanna finish the path, meet my quota for the day and sleep.
Some people like it, others don’t. You don’t like it and yet you are doing it for your friends and fiancee. I’ve been through that too. Nothing like a smile on her face upon seeing these items even if the rest of the world think they are useless virtual items.
Running with pugs can be one of the worst things to go through. We’ve all been there, done that. Most of us keep quiet, finish the run and leave the party.
Still I have to say (probably mentioned 25 millions times already anyway), dungeon runs are just another way of obtaining exotics and yields the skin we work towards.
Stats are pretty standard, but Anet has made it such that different skins are available through different means. I say it is a good thing.
No doubt one of the best implementations, if it ever happens.
I can’t count how many times I wish I have an abyss dye to preview with.
