You have an issue with the way ranking people in a competition is done.
If there is a tie at first place, the next ranked one is third, absolutely not second.
To get it simple, your place is determined by adding one to the number of people that did strictly better than you.

Ah ok, so if JQ/BG tie for first then the next spot would go to someone in 3rd and no one would get 2nd? Is that what your saying? If that is what you’re saying happens, that sucks, but would also mean that if that’s the case then SoR definitely would not want a tie between BG/JQ. So that being said then you can almost guarantee SoR would team up with BG in week 7 to secure a tie for second(as long as SoR beats JQ in week 6) with JQ. Let’s face it, if you’re getting rewards for your rank you’re going to want to rank as high as possible and do so by any means. Interesting…

Do you know much about the BG/SoR history? We pretty much hate BG. Go look at the SoR/BG/SoS thread… Also people I talked to preferred to help JQ win over BG. I only speak for myself but I don’t care about the rewards for seasons. Some may agree some may not.

I’m on SoS and I agree with most of my server. I would prefer to help JQ over BG since BG has been acting like a bunch of deuches since the start of seaon1.

ive actually been trying to help people from other servers when ive gone in. If im on the ruins i try to help constant cap them so ppl can finish their AP if they need it, same with the sentries making rounds and taking turns flipping them, etc etc… the only time ive ever fought someone is if theyve made the mistake of attacking me first Im always down for some good fights and duels but atleast have some respect :P just type /e your words here, to communicate :P

Spawn camping a complete minority with a bunch of siege in their own BL. That isn’t good PR. Moving a 30+ man zerg to crush 1 dude trying to get his dolyak achieve in his own BL isn’t good PR. Having a small zerg camping in the JP in someones BL isn’t good PR. A group of 10 kept on ROFL Stomping me in the ruins on my own BL while I was trying to get the achieves. I actually had to go to JQ you get them. These are just a few examples of what people from your server did you ruin your rep.

In our fight with JQ and Mag, JQ actually helped us get a karma train going so that people could get their achieves and have a little fun. That is good PR. Several of them were actually courteous enough to allow me to do the JP in their own BL. I though that was very nice of them. Most of the time their zerg doesn’t go out of their way to steamroll 1 guy. You actually have to be in their way.

In your sarcasm you have hit the nail on the head. This is exactly what needs to happen.

Given an imbalanced match, and if the population disparity cannot be fixed (and I believe that it cannot) Anet must introduce handicapping mechanisms.

The handicapping mechanisms won’t give the weaker server(s) a chance to win. But they should give them a chance to have successes and will make the match more fun for all three servers.

Can’t. Then in close matches Server A chooses critical time to tank and get the handicap. or if it’s weekly, they tank out of season to get the handicap in season. If it’s monthly, they throw a season to get the handicap and dominate next season. You might think it’s silly, but it would happen.

And populations are equal. Just not WvW populations. The solution is….

So, now how does the server that falls behind ever catch up to that big bad server if the PPT is capped at 230???? Or 400 or whatever. The big bad server is always going to lead by a RELATIVE amount greater than what is mathematically impossible to catch up to!

What you really meant was “I want the ability for my server to push a button and PPT cap the server in the lead, but never PPT cap us. All big servers should be hobbled so my server can win too!”

While we’re at it, let’s make it so season 2, everyone wins and gets 3 reward chests and at the end we all get legendaries.

In fact, those folks with a legendary weapon have a distinct WvW advantage because they played PvE while I slept. There should be a ‘Legendary progress Cap’ that rewards not playing and punishes folks who play more than 4 hours a day so that I can be just as powerfult with 1/10th the work, ya?

Oh and another thing, Castles and keeps is hard, brah. Make every objectives in WvW worth 50 PPT (capped at 20 PPT) that way I don’t have to spend as long capping stuff, and make the achievements just ‘number of things done’ so that will be done quicker too.

I’m tired and I don’t want to play anymore.

Look, it’s been real fun, but if I have to fight you all again next week, I’m going to pee on my laptop and set it on fire. So, let’s all put our quarters in the wish machine and hope that one of us, at least, gets to play 2 new opponents, that we everyone at least gets a chance to face one new server.

To be fair, it should be SoR who fights 2 new servers. Then, there might actually be a chance that those new servers would band together to take down SoR or at least make it a good fight.

Lets face it. Scores haven’t been close for a while. Even when BG gets new guilds, it doesn’t seem to help them get closer. The only thing that will bring interest back to the ‘lesser T1 servers’ is new blood. It’s no fun pulling out all the stops and playing to your best ability only to have someone just throw more bodies at you to win. When you beat that havoc squad and then 20 reserves show up, so you beat them back then 50 more reserves show up. To take a camp. That your guarding with 5 people.

So, hopefully JQ and BG will get a brief respite from the Hoard of Rall and get to fight even numbers for a little while. I mean, seeing as how neither server will even consider helping the other against SoR ever.

But if the oh so predictable matchup happens again (we all know it will), then I think we’re going to see a lot of attrition due to boredom from all 3 servers… At least on JQ/BG we have the challenge of beating the superior numbers and craptastic double teams… what does SoR get for a challenge? A door? Those 5 guys standing in the way of your 50 man zerg at spawn tower?

I’ve been on the top server before ticking 600 against zero resistance and it’s no fun. How long before SoR gets bored? because even with a new match up for them… there won’t be much better competition than BG/JQ. It’s the curse of being the top server. SoS saw it, JQ saw it. Now, SoR folks are starting to see it. There’s nothing special about being first when you have twice as many players even in prime time…

Let’s see if they can survive the death spiral!

So far Gunnars hold is the match winner with +56 rating points, Riverside is second with +23 points and Piken the looser of the match with -72pts.

Rating is what you are fighting for! Rating is the thing that remains with your server when the match is over. GH currently fights over expectation, and that’s why you win most.

And this is nice in the new system! It has different challenges for you. It can be either
- Defend your rating by dominating a weaker server (Piken fails to do so currently)
- win through in an even match (Riverside does this vs Piken)
- Resist the domination of a stronger server (GH’s does this well at moment)

In fact you can have every mixture of the above as you have 3 sides in the match.

Both scores matter. It hard to motivate anyone except the hard core on increases in Glicko.

We are being very careful which server to move to as our GL has stated this will be our last move. So, we want a stable community type server on which we can do WvW and not feel like we are doing the carrying, etc.

Then come to JQ. In all seriousness, we’d love to have you. We don’t tell you how to run your guild, or when to play or for how long and on what map.

We just like to beat folks up. We need the help. If you need to get an inside look at our server’s culture, have one of your scouts on JQ register at jadequarry.com and get verified as a resident so you can see the ‘not for public viewing’ threads we have there.

People from outside of JQ can bash us all they want, but there’s no way we’d have survived as long as we have and been competitive in T1 if we didn’t have an awesome, fun loving and kick butt server community. The results speak for themselves.

Other servers fold when they start to drop off. Not us. Because we actually like playing together.

If you bothered to read what the devs said in the WvW Forums (Which you are in, i would hope you know) They have already stated they over shot the damage on ACs and will be reducing ASAP.

5 Patches have passed since the complaints started. They could easily fix it by now. Even right now if they wanted.

I was told “Oh give them some time”. How long has it been? They nerfed AoEs to 5 targets. Do the same for ACs and drop the damage down to what it used to be plus a 5% nudge for the skill.

They didn’t want AoEs dominating the game they changed it instantly.

This is taking way too long.

And God forbid I make a post stating my opinion on the matter in the WvW forums about WvW issues instead of just going “Oh, I guess I’ll just sit here quiet and not say anything.”

I have no problem is someone posted “Hey, guess what. Anet is saying they will reduce damage.” then linking the post that says that. But your over the top snark is not necessary. You can make a point without being snarky, even on a forum. It’s hard, but folks do try.

And to that other guy, NO I am not going transfer to a lower server. All of my friends are on this server. I play the game with friends. They should fix my game. Yeah, so instead of resting folks, run 24 hour zerg-athons with no chance of losing a battle because you have 70 players dry humping each other.

I liked you guys a LOT better when you actually DID have to fight.

I hope next week you draw TC and DB and are bored stiff in 3 of 4 time slots and realize that the only thing that kept you guys fighting for so long was having to earn it. Now? Enjoy the slow, painful bleed out as folks get tired of killing gates and NPCs.

In the beginning, WvW was a novel idea that was nicely balanced and fun to play.

In mid October, we saw the meta shift and changes created favored large zergy type groups. Okay, not quite as much fun, but still using my character.

Now, it zergy arrow cart groups.

We don’t actually use our skills in WvW anymore. Nope. We use siege. Because we all know that we spent all of that time and effort getting out gear and our traits and our weapons and all those pink jewelry pieces so that we could build siege and stay still and hit 3, 2, 1.

Arrow carts have more affect on a battle that strategy, player skill, equipment, leadership and tactics. Players? Oh those are the people that stand in front of the arrow carts in case enemies try to destroy them.

I was thinking we could add another character race to the game. Siege. You could actually start as a lowly Arrow Cart with 1 arrow to fire and level all the way to 80 and become a Superior arrow cart! You could even have a deployable NPC to fire you, like a pet!

I can’t possibly think of anything more fun than standing still and pressing three buttons over and over…. can’t! So awesome.

I have this crazy idea tho, because I know some people actually want to get back to playing their characters….

Seeing as how ACs are now more powerful than Golems and Trebs, how about making them cost the same as Golems and Trebs?

Or are we going to just live with cheap buildable long range nukes than make players a side note to any large battle?

I’m a little late to this party because work blocks this site so I haven’t had the free time to complain (hee hee).

Arrow Carts: I love the idea of having arrow cart WvW boost from WxP. But the implementation is all wrong.

1. The range is way too long. When an AC can out distance a catapult, that’s junk. Not only does it defy logic, it makes catas useless in a game where rams are now useless as well (see 2)

2. The damage increase. WACK! Rams, golems and players melt from AC damage now. I could kinda deal with this if it weren’t for the fact that catas are within range of ACs too so there’s no way to ‘siege’ a tower.

3. Combine this with the end of rotating alts through JP to get siege, and unflappable camps due to RI Supervisors and you have a game where Arrow Carts are better than PLAYERS because siege and supply are more scarce and Carts out range and out damage ALL PLAYERS and cannot be countered if positioned right.

Please please please half the bonus range, and scale the damage way back.

I’m not here to argue about this. Jut add my two cents, so no one needs to respond because I will not be bothering to get into a discussion because this is how I feel about it and it isn’t going to change.

I have been on many many many times SEA and there are only queues on whichever map FOO decides to hop to. Not everyone gets in when they hop because they fill up the queue really fast.

If your already counting on JQ moving from the tier let alone the number one rank you are in for a rude awakening, we will just push harder and I am actually one of many excited to be able to have some more pressure put on us. Good battles last night on SoR BL, lots of fights all over between your groups and SF/WARD, had a fun reset night!

The last time SF was under pressure they jumped ship to JQ. Their former server SBI is actually enjoying competitive WvW in a lower tier without them. I think the rude awakening will be for the people on JQ if they ever have to face how fragile such luxurious coverage in first place is. Winning by a comfortable margin makes the fair weather types and egos happy, threaten that and things can go south quickly.

Even if you still win the week (maybe even with a comfortable margin) being outnumbered during NA will be bad for the morale of players at that time (and the map momentum of tower upgrades will impact on other coverage times).

I agree that one guild leaving isn’t a huge loss for a server, but these things don’t happen in a vacuum. It will be interesting to see how many guilds (if any) get poached by the people leaving, it’s the primary reason for what happened to SoS (even without FoE, Agg and MERC the server would have been fine in tier two at the worst, still contenders for tier one). It was when guilds kept getting poached by others leaving that the server had real problems.

The coverage on JQ is still strong enough to take first without EMP (although I suspect the NA will hurt a lot more during the week days without EMP when the weekend warriors aren’t picking up the slack). This alone probably won’t put the server in a threatened position (the server is just that stacked). Hopefully for JQ the bleeding of guilds ends with EMP, once that domino line starts toppling there’s not a lot you can do.

Don’t lose any sleep over it. We’ll be just fine. We’ll miss EMP and they will leave a hole, but we’re still solid. At least now folks can shut up with the whole JQ unlimited coverage nonsense.

Thins is, we don’t CARE about 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or T2 or T3 at this point. Those of us on here who are friends aren’t leaving. EMP has their reasons for doing this. From what one EMP member told me, it has less to do with JQ than it does with EMP expanding their horizons. Good for them.

For everyone saying our NA is doomed it wasn’t we were left unorganized on reset night for two reasons.

1) We asked EMP are you guys going to be on map (we knew they were transferring) noodles said yes they wouldn’t be transferring for 3 weeks. Take it how you will
2) When reset hit we had an empty map and a troll from EMP spamming it kitten people off. This isn’t reflective of the guild as a whole but when a leader such as rawnoodles who wants to leave on good term’s doesn’t even have the courage to tell his server mates that he’s leaving and not covering a map then what kind of guild is that truly?

That’s all I will say about the matter. I will say that those EMP who stayed behind to fight on JQ will always be welcome here they didn’t abandon the server.

I was quite impressed at how well all the quarrians rallied together to put JQBL back in shape, I know most of TW was quite surprised when we took garrison at reset from a outmanned JQ. Overall it was nice to see you guys pull together and get that BL semi under control.

If snark were a measure of skill, we’d have some pretty tough players in this thread. Do any of you honestly think anyone is going to suddenly change their mind, or that some neutral party will be like “Hey, that guy with the clever insults is awesome! I’ll join his guild!”

I have respect for some of the posters involved, but not for any cheap words traded on here. We all know who would win that GvG, but don’t ever expect the lesser of the two to admit it. Very few guilds would admit they’d lose a fight.

Oddly, the guilds that can admit they’d lose a fight are the ones that scare me the most in game…

I’m sure VotF would beat us some and we’ d beat them some. I’d love to have the opportunity to fight them again because those times we have fought, win or lose, were all awesome in their own way. And I don’t think that would ever change were we to meet again.

As for the rest, how else am I going to get people in my Self-Defensive classes if I don’t showcase the lessons?

lol as would I, too bad veil and charge don’t work anymore.

I don’t think you know how veil works. It’s not about going forward all the time. Sometimes you go left and in extreme cases you might even go right and maybe, just maybe, you use a second veil and repeat the entire process.

Veil is also a combo field you can shoot through. Maybe I should keep quiet about that. Don’t want folks learning actual tactics here. No no!
