I am conserned too… You just said that its not detecting my keyboard and mouse when I plug them in hdmi ports… Since when does a keyboard and mouse use hdmi plugs ? Do you have a lcd screen on both too or something ?
If it doesn’t work with a new PSU, then try the motherboard alone, if you can go into the bios then it’s fine, next add the CPU, and running it without heatsink is a pretty bad idea.
If that is still working, and you can go into the bios, then add the GPU, so you can test every piece you have. Use the manual if you have some trouble with the power connections. Plug every single one you can find on the board. So that the system has enough power for everything.
And at last, why did you bought a 500W psu when the old one is a 750W one ? You should have bought at least the same one, or a beter one. It may cost a little more, but you could use it to upgrade later. Now you will have to buy again a new one if you want a more updated system.

Or you can buy a supercomputer like the ‘Blue Gene’ Maybe that will run the game pretty smooth… Since you didn’t mentioned a price, that one is around 100 million :P

It’s still overkill to buy that graphic card to play on a resolution of 1280 × 1024.

Maybe you can even save some money by not taking a computer case. If you really want a cheap pc, use your old case (or one who a friend trow away :p)
I would pick a better PSU. That GPU requires minimum 550W …. I have some questions on how well the pc will run when the card is running at full speed. (Or maybe i’m looking at the wrong version of the one you suggest)

If it is your friend, just try to game on his computer… You will see quicker than the forum if he can run it or not

Can you be more specific about ‘computer crashing’ ?
Maybe there is a hardware problem, or a driver problem, or heat problem.
You should at least see something before the crash. If not well try on a new computer…

For some times, the game did this to me too. After loading quick flash, but it seems to be gone now. Using same card and same catalyst version.

Problem between this game and any other offline game is the dynamic events. They don’t use GPU, but CPU. Rendering players is all the job of the cpu. So yeah tomb raider is all pre-defined AI, so the CPU doesn’t have to work much.

17 inch screen is far to much for a gaming laptop. Go for a 15.6" one. Widescreen if possible so you can get pretty HD resolution (1366X768 HD). The graphic card will run far better, and you will play more games on higher settings. Bigger isn’t always the best on laptops. Since they must keep everything cool with one little fan.
And it will save you some weight, and space

well not really, fraps is running next the game, you don’t need to run fraps to start the game. I guess “overwolf” launch the game then add all the stuff on it. I saw you can see Facebook stuff in-game… If that isn’t modifying the game…

I don’t know if that program do something with the game, but you can use fraps for capturing screen/videos.

Check how much cpu usage is used when you play a game. Same for ram. Maybe some hardware components broke and run at half capacity.

Maybe the mistake was to remove the bad player from the guild… You should have left that one in but with no permissions. So when the account go back to the correct owner he can put the gold back if it’s still on that account.

thats a crock of what the kitten left in the litter box, the ONLY place I have seen any benefit to sticking to xp was on very old slow systems that really shouldnt be used for gaming today…..and even then…..if its that old, I would stick vector on it so i wouldnt have to suffer with buggy slow xp.

but Win7 owns WinXP in terms of multi-core utilization.
so, in case that you’re often running programs, which are capable of utilizing your 4 cores efficiently, Win7 is your friend.

7 has a better secduler and better optimizations for modern cpu’s then xp, and note, i have 8 cores :P

anyways, i kinda miss WinXP, but i’m glad i moved on to Win7. it’s superior in many ways and not nearly as bugged as it’s predecessors.

if you miss xp UI, then grab windowblinds and use the xp theme…..I do not miss the “fisher price my first pc” luna ui at all….infact i was in the xp beta…..i was the guy who coined that phrase (in quotes) funny enough it spread after release….lol

Espionage.3685: interesting, I have tested 7 vs xp on a large slew of systems, and if the system has 1-1.5gb ram I have yet to find a case where 7 wasnt as fast or faster even for older games.

You need to try it on a Acer TravelMate 2480 then with 2GB of RAM (my old laptop) :p

If I can recall the specs, it had an Intel Celeron M @ 1.6GHz, 2GB (2×1GB) DDR2 RAM, Intel 950GMA.

could be you needed proper drivers not the acer ones, could also be that the celeron m like all celerons is a slow pos…but would shock me if it was slower then that duron….then again the duron did have better then intel GMA for video….

one thing to note: with laptops, it can be a chore to find all the proper drivers updated, drivermax is worth a look in those cases……

That is your personal opinion… It’s not because people use xp that they are flagged as ‘id10t’. The reason why they still use xp, is because it don’t need 2 Gb ram to run like windows 7 does. It’s fast, and light.
But it looks like you lived 100 year, and are a guru of all the systems imaginable on earth, so I can’t tell you if you are right or wrong. Windows 8 is as good as the windows 7 or windows xp for those who use it. It’s just a personal preference, you can’t judge people who use this and that. Why do you have 32gb ram in your computer ? It’s just to compensate what windows 7 use and keep some fair big amount to do other stuff.

I don’t set mine at full speed… it’s almost a Boeing 747 who try to take off when they are at that speed
Anyway the increase to 1.2V is totally normal.

That is just because when your card isn’t working that hard, it just lower the v to save power, and increase lifetime. When you start a heavy game, it will run at full capacity so it will need full power too.
If you lose signal, then maybe you try to run the game in a incompatible resolution for your screen or graphic card. Or just a bad gpu driver
If you have hdmi and dvi, try on of the two, and see which one is the best for you.
Don’t think that hdmi is the allmighty best, it just can transfer sound too, and DVI can’t :P

Or you can flip the bread to burn the other side
That will save you a trip to the shop with all those high petrol prices…

You can blame others too if that really helps, like the brand of your screen, of your mouse, keyboard.
But since you still use DDR2 (…), maybe it is better for you to buy a new computer (or upgrade your old system.)

Personally I haven’t seen that here. Game is running fine, WvW is pretty awesome. Yes my fps drop too in massive battles but never stutters. Maybe you can try to play it on low….

Before blaming the game, the makers, your neighbor, the dishwasher, try to see if any driver you have installed is corrupted or outdated, see if your hard disks are in excellent condition.
Since you play it on a laptop, make sure he doesn’t get to hot. Inside there are copper pipes, so if there is dust in it, the heat can’t go out properly. So cleaning them would be a great + too.

But if everyone has this problem, doesn’t that make it fair to all of us ? :P
If you lose fps, try to find them again… they shouldn’t be hiding that far…

And yeah maybe a laptop isn’t the ultimate gaming device you can use to play this game anyway.

Anyway, if nothing is running when you power the pc up at the correct setting (110)
Then just change the PSU. Or just look in it if you can to see something broken. Mostly it’s a capacitor who popped xD It will be like a popcorn what the amount you putted on it :p

I suggest you go buy a new computer pre-made from a store and don’t touch anything on it :p
If you are lucky it’s just the PSU who is dead since you tried to put to much power in it… (I don’t even know why on earth you did that… that is pretty dangerous and only result you will get is a broken computer)
And yeah there are 6 screws for the motherboard… so use them… And why did you fried your only desktop knowing you can’t afford a new one ? I still don’t understand why you did such a stupid thing. It’s not that it will boost your cpu or anything since the PSU convert it anyway to 12 V (or whatever it says on it)

In any case, 15,6 inch is the max for a gaming notebook. Above it will need a better gpu, less you will need binoculars to see what you are doing :p
My acer is almost 3 years ald and it can run the game pretty well too. It has 8gb ram, i5 cpu, and an amd 5XXX hd gpu. I haven’t done any WvW on that one yet. But for pve it’s all i need. But again we come to the price. I paid that one back then 1300€ so that will be the lowest price you will find now who can manage the game pretty well. But getting 60 fps all the time… go try to buy a computer of NASA to achieve that :p

Well there isn’t a laptop who will run the game on high settings without lag.
Laptops are far inferior than a desktop of the same price.
But if you really want to have a laptop for gaming, go for a 15 inch. 17inch laptops are just to heavy. And think about your budget too, you will not find any laptop less than 1300€ who can run the game on medium without lag.
So find a nice 15" widescreen, they are far more powerful than a 17" with the same specs (since the resolution is smaller it can work better). But that is my opinion knowing i own an acer aspire 5740G who is almost 3 years old, and manage to run the game pretty well.

You can get that problem when you use a 14" screen on a big kitten graphic card who don’t support low resolutions (happens to me once when i upgraded a gpu xD), but i guess that is not your case.
