It’s not because you think that your password is the most secure thing on earth that they don’t have to worry about all other passwords.
I like this system. What if someone hack the database of gw2 ? how will your uber secure password help in that case ? And if you use the same password for 50 other applications on the internet, you take a bigger chance to get hacked. So yeah 1 password for each app is the most secure you can do. If you can’t remember them, then it is YOUR problem. The system can’t increase your brain capacity to remember stuff :p

I used the ssd for windows. All the other stuff is on seagate hdd.
For now the maps are loading pretty fast. Maybe it will load 1-2 seconds faster with fancy techniques, but I can live with that.

Better use a third party program. There are some cool ones, who let you store all big files at the end of your disk, with all parts in 1 block. Files used more often are put in front.
So yes defrag will boost the speed of the HDD, and so the speed of loading maps.
It’s easier to find data when it’s ordered. Go to a library to find a book when none are sorted by alphabet…
And yes updates can mess it up, but if you do a defrag every 2 days it will just take 30 seconds. Don’t wait until you have half of your disk colored in red squares :p

Even with a modern hdd the loading time is already fast.
I have a HDD 7200rpm, 6gb/s if that isn’t enough to load a map…

Maybe the hard drive where the game is installed needs a defragmentation.
Or maybe is to full to operate at 100%.

Well DocNuas, they can’t check every single inappropriate combination a player can make. But the name the OP used is kind of inappropriate. Maybe it’s meant to be funny, but for players who have kids or friends like that, then it’s not funny.

Hi Gaile, I would like to use that so called ‘mobile’ authentication app, but I don’t have a smartphone that advanced… It has wifi and all. So Am I doomed to stay exposed to hackers just because of that ? (Not that someone already tried to hack me, but just pointing how players like me can do more than just emails since they already got the password once we get the email)

As long as you deny (and I hope you did) they can’t get on your account. So go change your password.

Maybe, but they can add the ticket number of the support in here so that the staff can handle quick. Not just telling that he was talking with person X since nobody can check that. But I hope that they will be unbanned.

Maybe your ‘friend’ did exact the same movements as a bot will do. And from that other topic, the reported areas are watched. I’ve farmed a lot too but not in a certain pattern.

What people tend to forget is that the video card requires 400w all to itself, leaving only 100w for the rest of your system to work with. This is extremely stressful on your system and will cause it to shut down randomly because of the strain of maintaining GW2 when things start to pick up in the game. I would suggest getting a whole new power supply. You can get an amazing silent power source for $90 at Fry’s Electronics made by Thermaltake and provides 1000w of power.

You can see that the max is 64 W just for the card alone. If yours is using 400W at any time, then go check it …. It’s a graphic card, not a freaking microwave :p
It doesn’t require 400W, it’s recommended to have 400W minimum for the hole system. If you don’t believe me, just go see the link and see how much you need for the best card nvidia can offer.

Take a 72 hour break :P But yeah a ticket will be the best in this case.

My dilema is the following:

• Going Intel and staying intel for atleast 4 years since I will have to replace the whole mobo AND cpu. The reason is to guarantee a good performance for GW2.

• Go AMD since it really can be said that it is more future proof as I only have to change to steamroller/excavator cpu as it seems that both will be compatible with am+. Not only that but certainly games will start using multithreading in the next year or so. (PS4)
BUT, by this route my only solution is to pray that GW2 optimization improves; especially for amd…

If more games will use multithreading, then you will not have any problem with amd. Since amd has already more cores than a i7 they will have better performances.

Yeah and just look at intel… less physical cores, less Ghz, they all bet on their hyperthreading stuff, this isn’t going to work well since it takes to much time to make applications using that technologie. It’s more easier if you have more actual units.
And amd socket don’t change like a pair of socks like intel do. Also if you really have to buy a motherboard, you definitly don’t want to go for intel because you will end up with twice your budget… and maybe not that good.

Well hyper-threaded quad cores aren’t that good too you know.
Look at amd, they have 8 physical cores… that’s much faster in multitasking than 8 logical cores. Go try to run 2 vm’s has good has the original machine (same ram, same cores)…
It’s not because you can add 2 virtual cores on 1 physical that it will be better. You still have to share all the hardware, shared ram, shared bus…

Wierd, I have a dynamic IP too… But i’ve noticed that it allowed a range of ip’s for me.

Nvidia has something called physx… It can be good, but most of the games don’t support that and so the card will boos your game more than it is supposed.
And it will use some of your cpu to do that too… not very clever if you ask me :p
I have the sapphire vapor x hd 7970 3Gb, it’s maybe higher in price, but it’s pretty much the best card for that money.
Anyway, you can still look at this forum, and see how many nvidia players have posted a topic about crashes/lags/black screens…. Yet some people thing it was because they had a crappy CPU, but i thing the GPU has something to do with it too.

That one beats the i5, but not on Guild wars 2….
The game is not really optimized for multi-threading. But I guess you will not use your computer only for playing 1 game :p
Besides, the new playstation 4 will have a amd cpu… So that means they are still better than intel i think :p

I used that tweak thing too… maybe that’s why. Anyway If you have a lot of crap running, and not that much ram or high end cpu, it can help indeed

I’m not telling that you shouldn’t complain, we are after all costumers. But look at this forum, there are hundreds of topics talking about this problem. Like I said, I don’t think they just ignore all this.
Maybe you are right and they just ignore it. They can do that if out of 2 million players, a couple of 1000 have this problem. But by time more and more people will notice it, and they will be forced to do something about it. Or maybe they are already doing something about it, but aren’t sure yet so they are not telling us about it.
I’ve seen some moderators and other staff replying to other topics, so just encourage them to fix it instead of putting an arrow in their chest.

Why would i be outraged for something i can’t change ? Look at how many topics there are for this problem. I can’t believe that Anet just close their eyes and pretend that everything is fine. Let them do their job. That is all we can do about it.

If your pc can’t run the game with max settings, then don’t blame anet for that…

You are the ones who try to play the game higher than expected. They used the same engine as guild-wars… how do you expect all that to go well ?
It would be the same if WoW was made with the same engine as the first world of warcaft ever made.
Yes it sucks for all of us, but for now nobody can do anything to fix the problem. I guess the developers also know that now. It’s just pathetic that you don’t play the game because you can’t run it like you expected. With my config i can run it pretty well in pve, or in WvW. Ok, but what if i build a robot who press the keyboard in my place and i’m standing near it with my cup of tea ? How will you know it’s a bot and not actually a human playing the game ? This is just again one of those endless stories. If you look at the site of Logitech they offer profiles for a lot of games.
Playing any game with a mouse where you can change the dpi is cheating then ? I suggest we all go back to the basic mouse with a huge ball in it, and only 2 buttons. Because yes, some have infra-red mouses, others high speed laser ones, those are cheating as well then….
How about those with a touchscreen ? Should they ban to because they actually don’t use a mouse ?
Maybe we should take the screens in the story too. There are screens with less than 2ms response time… that is cheating as well if you follow the same philosophy. If it was completely not allowed, i guess anet already would contact Logitech to remove the profiles who are free to download.

I have a coolmaster haf x tower. The cpu runs default at 4.0 Ghz, I don’t see a real need for now to overclock that.

Anyway, changing ram is not an option yet. Maybe when i make a second tower, i will consider taking normal ones. So for now the watercooling is my best option if I understand you both correctly.
The OP has in any case a point. Keeping the temperature down will increase the performance of the cpu. The basic cooler from amd is not that bad, but it is limited.

I have tried to find an air cooler tall enough, but couldn’t find any. The Noctua NH-U12P is already pretty high, but still under the 2". Maybe it will fit, but i don’t like the have the fan touching the ram if there is just enough space :p So yeah I’ve been looking for a water cooler. For now the basic fan still keeps the cpu under the 40°c so i’m pretty happy. But summer is coming… and the room can get hot very fast

So you guys are pro’s about cooling ? I need some help for my computer too. For now i have the basic cooler mounted (yes shame on me) But i have an ASUS Crosshair V Formula motherboard, Corsair Dominator Platinum 16 Go (2 × 8 Go) ram.
Now the ram is pretty high. Like 5cm (2 inches for the few country’s who don’t use metric units :p).
So I was afraid to by a huge cpu cooler like a Noctua NH-U12P SE2 would not fit with my ram. I know a can put a watercooling system, and if i really don’t have a choice I will take that, but first i wanna know if there is any fan cooling system who fits in. It still cost less than a watercooler.

You can do that if you want. But try to pick 7200 rpm or more. If you don’t have an ssd who can serve as cache, a 5200 rpm hard drive will slow you down like hell (So best is a serial ATA 6Gb/s) I have 2 hard drives of seagate barracuda (1Tb and 2Tb). Pretty nice stuff. And both have 64 Mb cache. For me, having 2Tb under the 90€ is pretty nice. Maybe not the cheapest, but they are reliable, and last longer.

You can get a Sapphire Radeon Vapor-X HD 7970 GHz OC 3GB DDR5. In belgium that one is at 384€40
The GTX 680 is around 495€69 here… And has only 2Gb DDR5 ram.
I have the radeon and i’m pretty happy with it. Farcry, Sleeping dogs, Hitman, Crysis 3 runs pretty nice on max settings.

i agree with rickswarrior. Yes maybe intel does a better job for this game, but if you look on the same site SolarNova shared (http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpukittenml), the fx-8530 is the only high end cpu under the 200$… So for what you pay i’m pretty sure it can follow any intel at that lvl who cost 2×. Some must understand that when you want to compare 2 cpu’s you need to take the same price too. You can’t just say that the I7 3930k is better than the fx-8530… well I hope for you the intel is better, you pay actually 3 times more for it. So please compare it to the same price categories. There is no better cpu at that price at the moment. The single thread is maybe not that good, but i don’t see any Intel with 8 physical cores. And besides a game who only uses 1 core, 8 cores are still better than 8 logical cores. Maybe not every one want to spend 700$ on a cpu, then again 700$ for the motherboard because yeah no low priced motherboards support that new socket of Intel.
I’m not telling that intel is not good. But you can get for the same price much better stuff with amd.

I first wanted to go for intel with an Asrock extreme 11. With one of the latest i7. But i ended up with just those 2 parts almost twice the price of what i have now. It’s a pretty nice board, but pretty expensive :p
But you need a budget, and then see what you can get with it. Mine was 1700€ in total. So far totally worth the money. But again, i didn’t picked the cheapest stuff. Maybe people will say that i payed to much for that and that, but i don’t care. I know the PC will last for 4-5 years. Within that time i can still buy other pieces if i want.

So why would you put 2400 MHz ram on it ? It will be downgraded anyway…

If you can put a few 100$ more, you can take a sapphire 7970 vapor x. It has 3Gb, and run default at a higher frequency than the normal ones. But it will not affect your graphics for GW 2. Just a plus for other games :p

Well just lower the graphics if that is the case. Since my new computer, i don’t have any lag in a dragon event. I’ve also started WvW and it’s pretty nice. i’m not dropping below 40 fps. And my cpu is only 4.0 ghz without overclocking. But yeah if you take all the time the highest settings as default reference, nobody can ever play this game at a correct speed. Lower your standards, and the game will run smooth like butter.

If you are looking for a pc who can run on high settings in WvW, you will need a lot more than what you can get now. I don’t think there is 1 pc powerful enough on earth to do that. (maybe some server park from nasa can do the job)

While i tell this post, they maybe can ban me, but look at my own name i use…. There is a beer with a similar name. Not written the same, but the pronunciation is almost the same. Yet nobody has ever banned me because I didn’t wanted to make a reference to that brand. So if you wan to be called after a cake, just don’t put the exact some name and you should be fine. I almost never use a beta version of catalyst :P Gives me only problems. I’m now using 13.1, and looks nice.

Probably it is an i5 first generation too. They were good 2 years ago. Now they are pretty low in speed. Buying a laptop who will run GW2 with full options will not be cheap….

If you have sata hdd of 6Gb/s i really don’t see why you need 32 Gb cache. It is already pretty fast. I have 16 Gb ram, and all hdd are sata. Maybe i need a few seconds to load a game, but i’m fine with that. It is still faster than 60% of all players.
Those 16gb ram are already enough i guess for compensate the speed on the hdd.
I have a ssd where windows is running, so when i’m just on windows, the hdd go in sleep mode. They are less used that way, and last longer.
16 gb is already a little overkill, so 32 is really a waste. By the time you gonna need all that they will be old and dusty :P (maybe when that time come the frequency is faster.) But all this stuff is just a matter of how much you want to spend in the computer.
You can spend 3000$ for 64gb ram and some other bad kitten stuff. But you will still only use 50% of the power you have. So i prefer spending 1500$ now to get the best, and in 4-5 years, buy new parts who are better than those you bought in the 3000$ pc.

Next stop will be to actually go to the house of the player and see if he didn’t build a robot to hit the keyboard for him ? Some stuff can’t be checked. We can’t uses a macro to do skill 1,2,5,8 in sequence with one push of a button ? How can the game know who actually pushed the button ?

It’s a nice idea. But isn’t there already a system to use a ssd to do this kind of work ?
I wouldn’t by all that ram if i can get a ssd for the same money. having 16+ Gb ram is totally useless or the next 5 years (or more) Better spend money on something else first.

Indeed, but gddr5 cards have more often a beter GPU on it. And that still matters if you want the game look pretty nice. I think the problem with GW2 is that there are so many players to render. It will hard for any game i think to get 500 players in one map, with HD graphics.
When i upgraded my computer i was amazed how awesome all the details look like in pve. The landscapes are great. And that’s why i love this game.

I’m pretty sure of it Rampage. DDR3 memory is not fast enough to properly use 2 GB of memory. It’s not even enough to use 1 GB. So you would definitely be better off with 1 GB of GDDR5 rather than 2 GB of DDR3. But ok, maybe you know only GDDR5 ,that’s ok i forgive you too :p
Oh and btw, ddr3 ram is used on crappy low end cards.

2Gb ddr3 for a graphic card is not that much today. Most recent ones already have ddr5 installed, so 1 gb ddr5 is already better than 2Gb ddr3. Ram doesn’t have a very high frequentie. For a desktop, it is pretty low. Anyway it will run paint at 60fps without problem

Maybe you can save money, and try to buy a newer cpu. first generation ones are pretty bad nowadays. I have 16gb ram, and even with 3dsmax + photoshop i’m not hitting the 50%.

Yeah i see, after going to some other places those lines appeared too here. But not so hard to see has on your screen. Lowering the graphics didn’t changed anything for me about those lines. Maybe it is a game design problem :p

i made one now from the same place has the first screen. Still no lines.
I’m running the game with every setting at high. So i have no idea why some have it, and some doesn’t :/

On your second screenshot, you checked the ‘tmp’ file, not the .dat…
