for a Direct Damage version of this build you could go GS+ A/A i think that would be sexy time.

Im firmly convinced that every single employee of Anet plays a thief. of course the thief community will scream otherwise..but until missing,being dodged, or blocked takes a thief out of stealth…i will continue to believe that the class is being coddled by the devs.

after the patch im liking the fire drake as my DOC Drake of Choice. the Direct damage seems to hit almost as hard as the lightning breath..then the burn is a lil extra.

I have no data to support this. so i could be wrong..but ..I like it thus far.

I tried it briefly and it seemed to work fine..although the 10sec ICD is lame..it should work every time you roll imo. or if they want the 10 sec cd it should be independent on poison and blind.

ill try it again tonight and see if its broken

im able to take on 4 people without issue. if they chain immobs it can be a lil rough…but AFAIC this build is kitten near perfect. 2100 toughness and 20k hp and 1200 healing is pretty awesome IMO

yeah…i feel you on all the “on death” stuff…it seems to me that some kittened dev thought it would be great to have a class that has a ton of “downed utility”…

But alas..the only downs i see is the down syndrome from the Ranger dev in these regards.

I dont think thats what he is saying at all. he was just letting people that were previously playing a BM bunker that it is still a viable choice.

this patch has the ranger community in an uproar..and in all reality..it took me 20min to discover a new build that is even better then pre patch.

for those who have a Chub for Short Bow, this is a small setback. so its time to think outside the box. find new ways to close and open gaps..new ways to snare and root..pull..push ect.

Faux is like my Ranger Super hero..it always seems that he and I are always smoking the same pipe in relation to Build ideas ect. he is alot better with the equations and whatnot . Mine always seem to be a more laymans approach to the builds

A couple updates.

For the folks that said Settlers is too hard to get, you can Run Apothecary Weps and Armor, then run settlers trinkets (which are dirt cheap and available at the BLTP)
this will give you more healing and less toughness..but only by 100 or so either way.

In regards to pets ive been running the Fire Drake and Wolf. Drake for the blast finisher ( which is amazing in my healing springs and really adds to our group support)
and his f2 does the same amount of pure damage as the other drake attacks..but then does 3k/5sec Aoe Burn..which is Sexy Time! The Wolf is nice for mad CC, Fear/KD when you use Guard in conjunction with wolf…it springs the KD on people without knowing. then you can Entangle/Bonfire/fear/t4/flamebreath….end of story!

at this point i am in love with this update…it did exactly what it needed to for our class… only bad is SB should be 1k yard and LB should be 1500..with reduced damage if in shorter range.

ive had a chance to fight about 8-9 Bow rangers since the patch and they seem to panic like the changes they have received have them like a deer in the headlamps..none lasted more then 12 seconds…

we can make all specs work..we just have to come together as a community.

ok here is the build..but since the site isnt updated there are a couple things missing.

it is not showing the Settlers Weapons or Armor so its light on toughness.

and the new traits arent updated, so i left the 30 pointer for the regen/swift on shouts out.

..you know how you walk into a dumpy bar and in the restroom you see a mark on the wall that says… for a good time call susan…. well this is the Ranger equivalent to that…. if you want a really good kitten kickin time… just push the buttons baby!

ok..i know this is going to come across as a trololol…but you folks that were condition using SB…switch to an A/T + S/D build and have some fun.

I love my ranger and will never main another class…and i would say ive yet to be beaten in a heads up 1v1. and always last till the end in 5-10 man skirmishes …so dig your heels in and have some fun!

if your stuck on using a bow…maybe we can add a couple more strings to it and make it a harp..then you can roam the borderlands strummin your sad tune 8(

you are correct its 45 boon duration and 40 condition duration. for weapons im using Settlers. S/D + A/T

Im guessing you could also do a direct damage version of this build. which would be fun to try with GS + A/A

Salutations folks! i cant tell you how excited i am with our changes! i have adapted my condi-gen313 and Faux’s new build and giving it the name Re-port331 (regen/support 0-0-30-30-10)

Besides changing around the build, i removed my settlers trinkets and went back to apothecary (all other armor/weps are settlers)
Im running Altruism Runes. ill post the actual build shortly but this is what it gives me

2100 toughness
20.5k hp
1500 condi dmg
1150 healing
40% cond duration (this is buffed with food and stuff)
25% boon duration

permanent Regen and Swiftness (with my traits my regen is always above 1min and that goes the the whole group!)

with the runes im able to give might and fury with my healing spring. Suddenly my ranger has the same damage ( sans the pet) and survivability except now im able to load the group up with amazing buffs!

now my pets while doing a little less damage..are lasting way longer because of using guard me.

my 7,8,9 are ltn rflx,guard,regen signet with entangle elite.

my weps are S/D A/T with on swap Bleeds for both sets, and End fill on foe demise and corruption sigil on the other.

So far i prefer this set up more then i did my condi-gen313 …and i loved that one!

I have had a chance to run some camps and fight some folks ( thieves,mesmers and guardians) and I am able to drop em faster then before and despite not having the dwayna runes and only 10 in BM (loss of healing power) I am staying full hp most the time.

ditching the dwaynas…what does that do for healing and regen app? your depending totally on the traited “guard” to put your regen on?

also..what exactly does guard do? just stealth your pet and give it prot right?

its funny this is being mentioned. because with that new condition coming out ive been looking for a more reliable way to dump conditions immediately rather then every 10. So ill be dropping the run speed signet in exchange for the condition one. then dropping the condi removal trait in lieu of 20% sword recharge.

ill tell you what i would like to see…after you use S2 for the initial jump until you jump forward if it gave you a 2-3 second stability…that would be sexy time. Anet needs to hire me! haha

If you have a hi dpi mouse and veer out a lil before you cut in for the turn around. im willing to bet its just as fast as a swoop..and will get you further…all while evading.

Im not changing from my condi-gen313 build ..but i am rolling a second ranger to do a DD-Gen A/A + GS build….which im really looking forward to

heya Fo Sho..ive been thinking about rolling a second ranger and running a similar build to what i have now. but going for damage/regen instead. i was thinking about running A/A and GS ..for me to pull it off. what gear would you run?

one thing i can say is if youre running a condition-regen build you will not want to be using greatsword. if youre running a bow and need a second weapon set..then i guess its fine.

to the person that said swoop is faster then the S2+2/ltn reflex i would have to disagree. im able to do it almost instantly and me turning around takes zero time. ill post some vids of escaping and juking…i love a good ole fashion juke..its like parkour for rangers!

im able to open or close 2k yards instantly, while evading most the time. if you add in my 2 dodges its probably 2.2k

what you do is use lightning reflexes, then sword 2 to jump back then spin around and use it again. you are able to open or close large distances…but in order to do it you have to be handy with the keys, being able to spin around super fast and in the right direction.

ive had eles try to catch me with RTL and they end up SOL.

also if you want to juke someone out of their shoes…use sword 2 to jump back..then again to jump in then Ltn Reflexes to jump out again..then dodge to get back in. then sword 3 dagger 4..and back to sword 2….

by that time they have either gone into an epileptic seizure or counted you out as too hard to catch…plus its funny to imagine them screaming at their monitor…

im not sure if this helps…but perhaps it was entertaining.

Puandro, thats pretty awesome that you run solo. i try to do a bit of it every morning before the masses come on.

i have a question. when your fighting a thief or a mesmer, you would rather have a little more dps rather then knock downs ect? i find peoples different methods intriguing.

Salutations folks, seems our ranger community is in an uproar. Some cheering and some have gathered sand in their naughty bits. It seems the main point of contention is Pet Damage especially in BM Bunker.

The pet that really seems to take it in the shorts is the jaguar, which im guessing alot of folks were using. but IMHO at the end of the day offered no support to their team in the form of utility. ( in WvW)

On my Condi-gen313 ranger, i choose my pets for their utility, not their damage and its been working pretty well for me. having the wolf for fear and KD and the artic wolf for chill, cripple and KD is sexy time.

at the end of the day if people would take the time to stand back and see what they can offer to their group in the form of utility. I think our builds would be in a better place. ( again this is all from the wvw perspective)

So get out there before the patch and mess with those pets, change around some of those traits and stir the pot a little bit. as a whole our community is quite good at making a silk hat out of a sows ear..So lets give it a go.

Im a bit confused. why are people saying Bunker builds were nerfed? just because of pet damage reductions?

In wvw i gave up on the Jaguar a while ago as it serves no purpose to the group you are in. IMHO utility is the name of the game. So ive been using River Drake for the Finisher they use, regardless if its in my HS or my BF it really adds a nice dynamic to the skirmish at hand.

for my second pet i run Wolf , for the fear,cripple,KD.

(got a lil long winded there, sorry) So whats the scoop? why are folks saying Bunkers are nerfed?

you dont remember? we are weak on every single reset except for the past couple ones when our numbers were the same but our enemies were less resilient.

As far as all this xoxo stuff goes , its funny you mention calling in the zerg because we were fighting you guys and you fell back into your goof troop zerg and blended into the masses. Not that i blame you…i mean who isnt going to take cover and/or call in reinforcements if their on the under side of the engagement.

and lastly …all this kitten kitten on our tactics…ive seen 15 Isle follow their commander off a cliff to their doom to avoid an engagement..we all do it, so lets not fling turds here.

I’ll flat out say that DH and IOJ have shown the least amount of individual skill out of every matchup I have seen so far.

You have absolutely no individual or small party people roaming, and your zergs during EST prime time have zero situation awareness. In IOJ’s favor, at least they try to fight outside of camps when they only “slightly” outnumber me, or the small party I run with.

DH on the other hand, holy hell you guys hide even when it is 2 to 1 odds, while I was solo on a warrior of all things. In our guild mumble, I don’t even call you DH anymore. On my thief (stealthless build btw), I now just call you free loot bags if I see you running around solo or in a small party.

Hopefully we get matched up with BP or GOM again, so that there are some guilds that know how to fight. I’m convinced that DH would be bottom of tier8 if they didn’t have a sea of stupid to throw at walls and doors.

Lol this is Funny….GRIM has dispatched every small force we have come across ( we have also been beaten) Darkhaven has lots of small skirmish sized groups. and I promise you fallyse and togo have made love to your sofa a few times as well.

so lets not fake the funk about DH not having good small man teams…it just makes you look like melon heads and Hair Lips.

lol just Ran into a camp by myself and 2 NSP from RMPT are there. So while im there fighting them and the guards i kill one and the other gets me down…im expecting a bow but instead i get a Spam tea bag…from the one i killed no less..

You can also just kill the roots. Several swings of you sword is all it takes.

True, will take a few extra swings if you have a condition damage based setup though and if you don’t have a cleanse avalible and need to instantly get out I find a petswap and setting pet on the roots is pretty effective a Jaguar will free you literally instantly, good thing to remember sometimes.

ohhh not a bad idea! i run river drake and wolf. so if i switch to drake focus the root and have the pet attack he would do his whirl finisher and kill the root and hurt all the idiots trying to jump on me. ill have to give this a whirl.

Also on a new topic…..when i get downed i try to switch to wolf and fear the people off of me….IT NEVER WORKS! lol is there a secret to doing it correctly?

i dont think the tiers or rating points mean much anymore. it seems like they just keep flipping servers around to keep things “fresh” the only constant i see is that they keep the high tier servers to themselves and all of us lesser folks in our own group.

I just pray we get to fight AR/BP again soon . I truly feel that we have grown as a server and we would be able to offer those servers some great competition.

as far as NSP and IOJ go, i hope you folks can squash your lovers quarrel and team up to give us a fight. the past couple evenings ive gotten so bored of the Rinse and Repeat that ive actually gone AFK to watch Bridezillas…..

salutations folks. I threw a dwayna rune in my water helm to make sure i receive the 6 piece bonus even underwater but here is the issue.

if you scroll over my armor it says 7/6 Dwayna …and its in RED. so am i not getting the full effect of the rune set because its bugged out and not reading “6 of 6”? it seems that when i have 7 of 6 there is always something off…it doesnt feel the same. is it in my head or could the 7 of 6 on the runes be making it read like it doesnt have the 6 piece bonus?

there are several variations of the “BM Bunker” build all of them are fun. Since i started playing mine, i havent touched another character..

and yes the playstyle is a blast, the skill level required to play it well is quite high but once you have it down…you are certain to be Effin couches in no time at all!

lol Im a huge fan of the bottom two servers fighting over scraps. Come on guys, everyone else has tag teamed us! now its time for a lil “Isle of Shiver Peaks” action!

as a side note, our GRIM skirmish team had some amazing battles lastnight. Gave us a chance to work on field prepping and synchronized finishers ( thats what she said!)

so Lets keep up the fighting and make the magic happen!

Abusing a couch in a borderlands near you!

Salutations folks, Im running my Condi-Gen313 build with S/D A/T and i love it…except one thing….if i get rooted to the ground im royally Effed…

Im running entangle so i dont have RaO…what are my options? does the signet that removes conditions get rid of being “rooted” to the ground? I thought my lightning reflexes got rid of it because its a stun breaker..but nope…any immob. kicks my kitten unless our group guardian is around.

If i can solve this issue my build will be fundamentally perfect. So let me know if there is a way to gain stability or a skill to use to prevent from being immob’d

lol if im fighting one with my melee Condi-Gen313 Ranger i try to do it with a little flair! If they are on the other side of the trap i run up to the edge of the trap and use S#3 and the animation takes you along the outside of the trap and stabs em in the face. then i entangle and use sword 2 to backflip over their trap. I then switch to axe/Torch and light em up…

once they see how you danced around their trap , panic sets in …then its just a matter of time hehe.

Sautations folks! i was doin some PvE and i saw Ogre rangers with Raptor and Griffon pets.. Has anyone mentioned adding some pets with some flair?

or perhaps some ways to make our current pets flashy with some armor or changes in their bodies as they level?

When I said out played I wasn’t talking about them having more people then us. aR and BP have some great players and they are very respectful.

I find it funny that every time a server loses its only because of numbers ,nothing else…it’s silly that people can’t say they were out played.

Since we faced them I don’t feel any of the other servers we have fought have that kind of cohesion and skill. What you tend to see is one or two good players in a guild then the rest of the lesser players riding their coat tails and talking smack.

I truly hope we can get back to gentlemans engagements..with killer fights and respectful banter on the boards.

Well, just for fun I’m going to try a sb/lb build to do some comparison. I’m pretty certain that for the skirmish grups I run my condi-gen313 build will be far superior. But bench testing is what makes the wvw world spin.

What build would y’all suggest for a roam/sm scale skirmish build based on lb-sb..?

Well thanks for all the replies .i was really curious about the viability of bow rangers as it seemed to me they were quite squishy.

So let me ask this. Do y’all feel a condition/regen bow build would work.or would the lack of s/d take away too much of the defensive ability?

Well I can say that I’m sure glad sorrows furnace is gone. After we peed in their Cheerios that first week they lost their gusto .

I wish we could fight AR and BP again ..those are the only servers we have faced that I feel out played us. But with this new system for matching it seems tiers and colors don’t matter anymore…so who knows where we will end up.

Anyhow,just wanted to say that the small scale stuff has been pretty fun lately.its been great practice for what’s to come.

Salutations folks, I have observed something over the past month or so now that my ranger is my main. Every time i see a Ranger with a bow they go down super fast. regardless of the skills the use it just doesnt seem to matter.

does running the bow require you to make a super squishy build to be “viable”? Im quite interested in hearing some opinions on this because i have fought bow rangers from DR,IoJ,GoM,NSP and so on and it seems to be the same.

for a point of reference i am running my Condi-gen313 build with S/D A/T

i was thinking about trying out a bow just for fun..but id like to hear some thoughts of our base first.
