I’d just like to quickly say to the OP that craftable berserker armor is about 3x as expensive as other stat combinations due to its popularity. Assassins gear does slightly less damage but is still respectable on many classes.
My suggestion would be to start with berserker trinkets (they are similarly priced regardless of the stat combinations) and weapons if you can afford them. For armor, start with assassins gear on your two main pieces (chest and leggings) and valkyrie on the rest to give you some extra hp which will help while trying to learn dungeons. Run the citadel of flame (COF) dungeon daily as you can spend the dungeon tokens on berserker gear. If you do it daily for about 2 weeks you should be able to fully gear yourself in berserker without spending any gold.
As for runes, strength or scholar has the most dps at the moment but is very very pricey. There are some much cheaper runes that still give good damage. My personal favorites are runes of the ogre (power bonus, rock dog = bestfriend, and a 4% damage bonus on the sixth rune) as well as rune of the ranger (precision and ferocity bonus, the 7% damage bonus with companion can be activated using a minipet).
One of the documents made a reference to a “moving” or “portable” waypoint. Since the arah story mission also has these moving waypoint (kinda, the ship is moving), do you guys think that some of the newer maps will have waypoints like these?

okay I managed to fix this problem for me at least. I think that the new patch did not install properly. Luckily there was an older version of gw2 stored on my external drive so I deleted the one on my computer and reupdated it. Fps and everything is back to normal.

I got this issue too
Help please before the patch i was having 40-55 fps on medium settings when i logged in again after the patch it had dropped to 15-20. Someone in game said that this is normal because so many people are downloading but I’d just like to post this so someone can verify if this is true or if there is a problem with my computer.
its brand new so the only thing I did between last playing gw2 and the new patch is installing google chrome (i checked to see if any chrome processes were in the background and there werent, tried to restart didnt help.)
Thanks guys
With regards to doing quests together:
You guys can complete heart quests together no problems.
With story quests, you can do them together and both get credit for it as long as your current mission is exactly the same. This depends on the decisions you make while creating your character and the starting race (class has no influence however). So if you guys want to do story quests together make sure that you guys make the same decisions when given the options.
Me and my gf just finished completing all the story quests together (charr warrior and guardian) so I will tell you now that some of the later story quests may bug and only give credit to 1 person in which you will have to do it again for the other person.
by kitten i mean forty five to fifty five dunno why its censored
ok guys the laptop came in today
runs kitten fps on medium setting on 1900 × 1080 resolution
if anyone cares or wants to compare with a laptop they are thinking of getting just post reply and I’ll add some screenshots
Thanks
Hi guys,
I recently ordered a new laptop from dell and am excited to see how well it will run gw2
http://www.dell.com/au/p/inspiron-15-7537/pd?oc=dx510441au&model_id=inspiron-15-7537
i read that the graphics card (GT750M 2GB) is pretty decent for a laptop but I’m concerned with the fact that its processor is only an i7 dual core instead of a quad. Having said that my previous laptop was having some overheat issues with gw2 and hopefully this new one wont. Also I’m curious to see how a hybrid hard drive deals with this game.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
I am amazed that gems isnt a key point in this argument.
More gold in economy =more gold converted to gems =higher gem value = more people spend real money = the most imporant thing for a non subscription game
less gold=less people buy gems = dead game.
Arenanets definition of a healthy economy is different from yours and thatss the way it should be
Gems are actually very important in this matter because gold-to-gem conversion is, along with TP taxes, the most important gold sink in the game (the fact that gem price keeps rising indicates that there’s more people exchanging gold for gems than the opposite).
Gem price will keep going up until it becomes high enough to balance both exchanges. Having more gold in the system doesn’t make people to get more gems with it, it just determines how high the exchaneg ratio will eventually peak.
The funny thing is that, the closer to the exchange balance, the larger the inflation becomes, decreasing gold value and making gem to gold exchange less interesting.
Relying on gold to gem exchange to keep the inflation at bay basically pushes against a stable gem value, which I don’t think it’s a healthy situation at all.
I am not going to pretend I know how the gw2 market works ( i dont play enough) but my reasoning is this.
If large amounts of gold earned by players resulted in arenanet earning less money then they would have nerfed the gold farm in a blink of an eye. But no, they didnt nerf the gold farm instead they nerfed the materials (champion) farming instead. That is all I have for my argument.

add parachuting/gliding so i can climb up to really high spots in the snowy areas and weeeeeeee!!
In order to encourage less TP flipping and more farming, I am suggesting that the TP 15% tax only be applied to items that have been previously bought on the trading post. This way, when a demand for an item increases sharply, people will be more encouraged to farm it since the income they make will be higher. More people farming an item = demand is filled faster = faster price equilibrium = less opportunity to flip.
Comments? No flame pls ty
Also apologies if this idea has been suggested alr (probably has) I dont really follow the forums
the thing is that ac chests tend to give a lot of useless dusts as well as lvl 35 items so if you take that into account then the rewards are pretty balanced. Fractals on the other hand has a lot better chests as well as loot in general.
Also, AC is the first and thus the most accessible dungeon for casual players. Having it give a higher gold reward helps these players from being disadvantaged by gold inflation
because of reasons ^^
I used to run AC for money and loot until the last patch..
Now im just devoting my dungeon time to COF path 1 and farm it as much as possible before it gets nerfed. I’m sure that other people are doing this too. Also, due to the boss chest buff a lot of people are just camping dragons and other world bosses (a lot easier than figuring out and wiping on a new dungeon mechanic). I mean dayum all the open world maps were practically empty before the last patch and now we’re talking about overflows!! all those ppl gotta come from somewhere
Every class can do all the things you mentioned as long as they are geared correctly. But since you mentioned that you liked playing healer an tank in other games involving the trinity, I recommend you play guardian, the healingtank of gw2
Hi,
We are a relatively small guild on Tarnished Coast (TC) with around 10-15 active members. We were quite lucky to have managed to gather up enough gold/influence to research guild bounties. However, it has occurred to us that there is no way we will be able to unlock the other guild mission types anytime soon. Therefore, we are currently looking for other small TC guild who have also researched guild bounty, so that we can cross represent guilds and earn commendation chests multiple times every week.
why is this needed?
Bigger guilds with 200+ people have the influence to do all types of guild missions whereas us small guilds will get stuck doing only guild bounties. By taking advantage of the “multiple guilds” system, we can keep up with the number of commendations earned by larger guilds, especially since big guilds either require 100% representation or simply do not have the member space to do this.
Rules of engagement
1. Upon the predetermined time each week, everyone joins guild A, guild A activates bounty tier 1, everyone joins guild B, guild B activates bounty, etc etc
2. Expect to repeat step 1 two or three times each week for members that miss out.
3. Make a special rank for members of other guilds collaborating with you, do not expect representation during any other time except when guild missions are on.
That is all, thanks for reading
Congrats on completing the guild missions. Some questions I would like to ask are:
1.) Are you able to attempt it again immediately if you fail? Since you guys succeeded, how long will it be before you guys can/are allowed to attempt it again?
2.) How tricky are these guys to find? Do you think that bosses from tier 1 bounties are easier?
3.) Any notable fighting mechanics to be aware of?
Thanks
Thanks arenanet
Firstly we arent even that small of a guild, got 40 members with 10 serious players and the rest casual/inactive. We are 20k away from unlocking guild bounties (already got art of war tier 5). Now people suggested that smaller guilds should merge to pool up influences together but everytime I post on mapchat trying to recruit new members some kitten from a guild with 250+ members decides to post 2 seconds after me claiming to have all the influence ready to go and events unlocked. I mean what the kitten arenanet did you not think of this before you released the update?
People still make these? Ever since they released those 20 slot fractal boxes i even forgot that the crafted ones existed.
Having said that, I agree with you that 10 g is too much for the rune of holding, simply because it takes way more effort to get a craftable 20 slot bag compared to fractal bags
Personally I judge the quality of players in my party by their total achievement points rather than their character level.
Although its not an accurate indication of player skill level it does say how long you’ve been playing the game.
For example, I have no problem running AC with a lvl 38 theif that has 3k – 4k achievement points. He/she’s probably got a few level 80’s already, done AC at least 50 times, and just feels like leveling an alt. If I’m really in a bad mood that day, I’d just ask them to use their lvl 80 chars and switch to the lvl 38 char on the last boss.
If a lvl 80 with 900 achievement points joins my party I’d ask them to link their gear.
Also, I think the people replying to this post arent really getting what the OP is trying argue. The main issue isnt getting kicked for using a low level char, its not being notified before getting kicked. How hard is it to nicely ask someone if they have a level 80 character? If they insist on using the low level character then its fine to kick them if you feel that you need 5 80’s to succeed. Otherwise I agree with the OP kicking without even asking somebody to switch is just plain rude.
Dont get pvt armor from orr temples. You should save up your karma for the soldier accessories (available from the temple of grenth). Stick to the dungeons for armor.
Guildie needs the last of his shards tyvm
When i get my worrair or mismor ill definitely join then one group for cof speed runs.
Actually all the stuff you highlighted are people doing path 1 speedruns. That dungeon path should be changed first before doing anything to warriors.
I raise you by 50k. 400k karma for ascended rings and amulets
Heres my line of thought,
Lots of people dont like having to free the cof gate in order to get into the dungeon. Why not make an server where everyone who wants to run cof can guest to? Since people can all pile on the same server due to guesting, the more people that are on the same map trying to get through the same gate, the less likely the bridge defence event will fail since there will always be someone outside at any given time.
Isnt there that one heart quest right above lions arch where you have to revive seraph soldiers and protect them as they limp back towards the medical station. Tons of revive chances there
Since you can only get 1 laurel a day from dailies and 10 from the monthly then it will be 3 weeks before the first person can actually buy and equip one of their ascended amulets. I’m sure that arenanet will do something about obtaining these things during this period (I’ve heard whispers about converting existing achievement points into laurels and thats pretty cool).
So back to my original question, do you think that the complaints on this matter are a bit of an overreaction? I mean the laurel vendor (for amulets) is essentially just a showroom for the next 3 weeks anyway. Plenty of things can happen in the meantime
I have nothing against skipping and I do a lot of COF speed runs myself.
however I do believe that not skipping in a dungeon should be more rewarding. Maybe make the chest drops from bosses more rewarding if you have killed the trash mobs in the way? Maybe give dungeon trash mobs a higher chance of dropping black lion keys? Who knows really but I do feel like theres a lot of wasted potential when people just run past half a dungeon
This is exactly what i am experiencing too. I run with an Nvidia GT540. Its really weird since the crashes only started in the last week or so. I’ve been monitoring my GPU temp and it seems to crash even at low temperatures. Once time I just logged in at mount maelstorm and rotated the camera angle before it crashed. Sometimes I can go 6 hours straight and its fine. Could someone please look into this thanks.
I just went to my local ebgames store and they’ve never heard of it. Can I get somebody from Arenanet to respond to this please? I want to buy gems but dont have a credit card. Thanks
To my fellow australians,
I saw that anet seemed to have left us out when they listed which stores would sell guild wars 2 gem vouchers. Does anyone know if EBgames sells it? I was going to ask them yesterday but my local store was closed already. Also is the price the same as that listed in game (when buying with credit card or paypal). Thanks
If i get booted to the character select screen will it continue to increase my age? Thanks
just a reminder that you can put dungeon weapons in the mystic forge for a chance at legendary precursor. I do it all the time since the worst case scenario I get somethign worth 2.5 gold to sell on the TP. Also for higher level dungeons like COF and HOTW you can salvage the rares for ectos. For lower level dungeons you can also go this route by buying the exotic shoulderpads and then salvaging (but this is less efficient). Hope i helped
you wouldnt happen to be on the tarnished coast server would you op?
especially in divinities reach it can be quite confusing haha
Hi there,
I also used to be in a similar situation to you. Me and my gf both leveled together, I’m a guardian and she played a ranger. Basicly in my opinion gear doesnt matter too much until you hit lvl 70 since the final areas can be quite tough without decent armor.
In terms of buying armor, you should always buy armor where the level requirement is a multiple of 5. This is because the armor and weapon crafting diciplines only allow the crafting of equipment with this level multiplier (hence a level 50 weapon has more options on the trading post than a lvl 48 weapon and will most likely be cheaper, since the level 50 weapon can be crafted whereas the lvl 48 weapon is a random drop). Now, most crafted items are usually of fine quality (blue) however every 15 levels they will be of mastercrafted quality (green), so levels 20,35,50,65,and 80. If you dont want to buy armor and weapons every 5 levels, I would recommend you at least get mastercrafted equipment on these levels. The reason is that lvl 75 blue armor is not much better than lvl 65 green armor, but there is a HUGE gap between lvl 75 blue armor and lvl 80 green armor. Hope this isnt too much to take in lol :p
Dont spend any karma until you hit 80 (except on food materials)
Now, if you would like to learn about dungeons, I wouldnt mind taking you guys through it (I’ll bring some guild members along to make it easier) you can add me in game and msg me when I’m online and I’ll give you a hand.
What kind of “skill” do you want?
Already replied to in one of the many posts adressing you that you chose to ignore.
Legendary weapons are something to work towards. You may be deceiving yourself into thinking “Pfft. If it doesn’t take skill, I won’t do it!” but what you’re really saying is “I don’t want to work for it.”
Nope. What I am saying is that what you describe as “work” doesn’t deserve any reward, much less a Legendary. Do you want to see a real life example? People who do mindless, simple jobs often work a lot of hours per day and yet get very low salaries – see Chinese factory workers. Meanwhile, skilled people get considerably higher salaries even when they work less than those Chinese factory workers – see Steve Jobs.
Grinding is just doing mindless things over and over, under the claim that this deserves a reward. Just as the Chinese factory workers are not going to get rich even when working 18 hours per day 7 days per week, grinders should not be rewarded. The skilled players, who actually know what they are doing, and avoid mindless repetition more suited to bots – those deserve a reward.
The biggest problem with making legendaries skill based rewards (especially in pve) is.
Step 1. Some guy who figures it all out first will post a youtube video
Step 2. In 48 hours, everyone will have watched the video and find out how to do it.
Step 3. in 72 hours everyone will have a legendary
Step 4. In 1 week people will have figured out exploits making it even easier
Remember the early days of release (not sure how long you have been playing this game) when kholer in AC used to be everyones worse nightmare, and that 2 weeks later people were speedrunning AC, and now people are glitching him? Yeah, thats the biggest problem with making skill based pve rewards in any game. Somebody will always find a way to make it easy. Unfortunately grinding and RNG seems to be the only way around it (at this moment)
How does a warrior who doesnt know what an elite skill is and doesnt know how to dodge make it all the way to lvl 20 fractal? Maybe the guy was asleep :P
weewt I got my armor set month ago already * dances *
So I am trying to come up with a daily dungeon routine comprising of COF AC and maybe TA using multiple characters. I would like to know whether or not DR would trigger during this routine.
Lets say
Character 1 – COF path 1 & 2 -120 tokens / 30 minutes(ish)
Character 1 – AC path 1-3 – Provided I do this immediately after COF, will I get hit by DR in this case?
Afterwards I would do
Character 2 – COF path 1 &2 – provided I did all 5 dungeon runs with character 1 in around 90 mins, how many tokens will I get with my 2nd char for doing COF, 60 or 30?
I have a fair few lvl 80 characters and so I usually switch around constantly and not pay attention to the dungeon DR so if anyone could answer these for me would be appreciated
As someone who has grinded out 800+ ours in order to obtain my first legendary, I have come to the following conclusion: The ONLY thing that needs changing is the method of obtaining precursors is the mystic forge (because kitten does it suck to get nothing useful from chucking in hundreds of rares).
I have no problems at all with:
1. Obtaining the fine crafting materials: These are farmable, you can also upgrade t5 to t6 or buy of the trading post. Does it take a long time to gather? yes, but the weapon wouldnt be legendary if it only took 2 hours to gather all the materials so shrugs
2. Getting the lodestones: Having had to gather 100 onyx lodestones myself I can honestly say that this grind HURTS A LOT. I wouldnt mind if anet increased the drop rate/farming spots for certain lodestones. However this part of obtaining the legendary is the most challenging and hence grants the most satisfaction once you manage to gather all the necessary lodestones (its an awesome feeling srs XD)
3. 500 tokens for the gift of battle. Dont like killing people in wvw? do the jump puzzles. The one in your home borderlands is usually free if people are camping the other ones. Only 5 tokens? Get on 5 characters and do it 5 times. This part can be done in 20 days just by doing 1 jumping puzzle over and over again. Easy
4. Mystic clovers. The chance of getting is 1/3. Now this isnt really that bad since when you fail to get a clover you usually get some useful crafting materials or even a lodestone if you’re really lucky
. However I do feel you guys who ended up going 5 or 8/100 attempts and to that im not really sure what to say :/
Suggestions for improving the method for obtaining precursor:
Gw2 has implemented the token system quite successfully and people seem to like it for the most part. My suggestion is this.
When combining 4 rares in the mystic forge give a 25% chance of returning a legendary precursor token instead of a rare or exotic (of course different types of precursor tokens should exist for different weapon types e.g: sword, rifle etc). Combine 100 tokens of the same type at a merchant to get the legendary precursor. This gives players a sense of progression towards obtaining their precursor rather than just dumping hundreds of rares with nothing to show for it. The difference between this token system and the mystic clovers is that I think these tokens should be sellable so if someone gives up on obtaining a precursor they can sell the tokens to help somebody else.
Any thoughts?

Hi
Why dont you give Raiders of the Mist (RAID) a try? We only have 43 members, with bout 10-15 active regularly while the rest are more casual. Mostly a dungeon based pve guild, with optional wvw once a week ( a few hours after reset). We have most of the guild facilities, currently working on getting the first commander tag (after getting our first legendary a few weeks back). Let me know if interested
thanks. We are on the tarnished coast server
Hi there,
Raiders of the Mist (RAID) is a small (43 member) closely knit group full of friendly experienced gw2 players. No rules on our guild, just have fun. I’m sure the people here will help answering any questions you have and helping you with any aspects of the game you are struggling with. Unfortunately since we are a smaller guild we cant boast about all the guild facilities we offer. Just completed the guilds first legendary and working on our first commander tag right now for WvW. Let me know if you are interested, we are on the tarnished coast server
Hi there,
Raiders of the Mist (RAID) is a small guild (43 members) with 10-15 regulars while the rest are more casual. Our regulars are a closely knit bunch and we do lots of stuff together. No rules on our guild, all about having fun. We have recently just finished the guilds first legendary and are working on a commander tag. Join us if you’re interested
. We are on the tarnished coast so no problems.
Also as a side note everybody here is in their early-mid twenties
Hi there,
Would you be willing to give raiders of the mist (RAID) a go?
We are a small guild (43 members) with about 10 people frequently active while the rest are more casual. All of our regulars are experienced gw2 players and very close. It would be awesome if you and your friends could join our small community. We have just gotten the guilds first legendary and are now working on getting our first commander
. Let me know if interested, We are on the tarnished coast.
Hi,
Why not giving our guild, Raiders of the Mist (RAID) a go?
We’re a relatively small guild (43 members) with about 10-15 active frequently while the rest are more casual. We have most guild facilities however and our active players are all experienced gw2 players willing to help you with any questions you have. Everyone is really close and we do lots of stuff (dungeons, pve, wvw) together so if you’re looking to make new friends you will love it here. We are on tarnished coast
Let me know if interested.
warrior, guardian, and ranger are generally considered the easiest for beginner, elementalist the hardest
if you want to dungeon but are below level 80, I’d recommend joining a guild to avoid elitist people (even though you can start dungeoning at lvl 30)
Join my guild
The 3 easy classes can solo story quests easily, some of the harder to play classes will struggle
they are stupid.
Support guardian is a valuable addition for dungeon running. Especially in PUG groups where you arent sure of the players skill.
Staff guardian number 4 skill (12 might stack aoe) is very powerful and more than makes up for your lack of damage
Hold the line shout is valuable to keeping people alive.
Not many people care about this this but using aoe movement speed buffs to make the npc move faster (like at the start of cof or ac paths can also shave off time for speedruns)
