The trading post, unlike farming, does not generate money from thin air.
If someone makes 100 gold, someone else just lost 100 gold +15%.
Yesterday I made my first legendary with the help of my guild [RAID] on the last few ectoplasms and crafting mats. I really liked the flameseeker prophecies from an early youtube vid of it and although I have never actually seen anyone with it (everyone is running around with sunrise and twilight) I do know that there are a few people that have it.
I really liked the glowing effect when it is taken out (especially with guardian aegis over it
) but I’m wondering why the glow stops after you place it on your back. The legendary greatswords still glow when they are sheathed why not the shield?
I dont imagine the programming to let the shield maintain its glow would be particularly complex either. Although I do enjoy the shield as a whole I feel that the designers were holding something back when they made this legendary. I have heard that the legendary effects will get buffed in the near future so I’m really looking forward to an official statement as to when they will be buffed, which legendaries, and what additional effects. I dont care about the stats buff, prefer the effects improved first.
I think it has more to do with the type of core/lodestone you are farming. From my experience corrupted lodestones are typically farmed/dropped in frostgorge from lvl 80 mobs. I have never had a corrupted core drop for me but have had about 12 lodestones so far. I’m assuming most people farming this type of lodestone would have experienced the same.
This is contrast to onyx cores/lodestones for example, in which the core is much more likely to drop from TA explorable chests rather than the lodestones, meaning that you can save money by buying cores and combining. However regardless of which method you chose to get your lodestones I doubt that the savings you would make reach 15% (TP tax)
True i mean if it were something that was normally aggressive like a drake then i would understand and it would obviously be up to the players to take this into account. But this creep was a neutral one (so yellow by default). I mean I dont mind the animal being around the area in the first place I’m just judging the animal ai for deciding to walk into the path of a sword haha
I was playing a greatsword guardian and was in the middle of fighting another guardian from a different server. It was a pretty close fight so i had about 1/5 hp when he went down. While he was downed I was hacking him with my sword trying to get him to use the knockback guardian skill so I could come back and finish him (I was also close to going down). Suddenly, this random stag just shows up from behind me and just happens to decide to walk ON the guys body? You can guess what happens next. My gs attack cleaves the stag, I get downed and have the dude AND the stag both attacking me. Its pretty funny I suppose but left me wondering what the point of these animals are in wvw and why they arent 1 hit kill animals to prevent them from interfering with fights.
Dear arenanet,
I would like to take a screenshot of all 5 of my gw2 characters standing next to each other since I have put a fair bit of effort trying to get them to dress in a similar style. Obviously its not possible in a game environment like on a map but perhaps you can make this a feature in the character select screen? Thanks
confirmed to be the case from australia as well
@nachtnebel
Thanks for the info
But if that is the case, I must ask you then, why are the mobs in frostgorge farming corrupted colossus deliberately avoiding the area with the champion mob, even though the mob spawn there is higher?
Bots cant avoid champions. From what I have seen they are programmed to attack the nearest monster with a red label. Making them avoid a champion mob is a lot more complex in terms of programming.
For example, lets say a botter wants to make his/her bot avoid a champion mob. What type of path should it take. Champion mobs move around too so they would have to program the bot to conduct a specific movement (like moving around in a half circle) as opposed to “change from path A to path B if champion is in path B”. Furthermore, what if the bot moves to avoid a champion mob but halfway there is a normal monster? Would this conflict with the bots programming since it has both a code to attack a normal monster and avoid the champion?
Based on what I’ve seen now a bot cant even distinguish between a normal and veteran/champion mob and so if arenanet can figure out how bots work in terms of the programming then it will increase the number of possible solutions they can apply.
At the moment the bots have obvious names and dress in such nice uniforms like they are making fun of anet…
I noticed that bots cant handle champion mobs.
Why doesnt anet put more of these in areas where bots farm? Make them move really slowly and not have any disable skill so real players can run around them. Sure its not a permanent solution by any means but at least in high level areas people should know the game well enough to not 1vs1 a champion. Probably not applicable to low level areas since beginners will get frustrated from trying to take them on.

To be honest I think that all of these unpopular lodestones will be in very high demand once the expansions are released. I expect a lot of ice weapons in the jormag expansion and crystal lodestone based weapons in the kralkatorik expansion. Just my 2c tho not trying to affect the market in anyway.
There is no any other weapon except bows requiring a gift of ice?
So me and my gf both play gw2. I have been lvl 80 for a while but she has been leveling up a lot slower than me because she has been taking it easy and exploring a lot of the low level areas. She is now lvl 71 ranger and I want to get her a good weapon as a “present” when she reaches lvl 80.
Does anyone know any good exotic skins for longbows that I can give to her. Obviously the weapon cant be soulbound like a dungeon weapon. Also I dont have the time and resources to farm a legendary or something that requires “100-250 Xx lodestones” hahaha.
FYI we both play sylvari I’m a guardian and her char is a ranger.
Plz let me know thanks
P.s: also as a side question if i transmute a dungeon weapon skin into a non soulbound weapon is it still soulbound?

Hi there,
Why not give raiders of the mist [RAID] a try? We are on the tarnished coast, 35 members (quite small) and do a little bit of everything. We are currently working on upgrading getting the most advanced guild facilities through guild influence and if you’d like to contribute msg me back on the forum or in game.
Check out our website also: http://raidersofthemist.webs.com/
Thanks
True I usually do something else aswell but i just wanted to make sure that it would be enough to completely reset the code by the time i came back hehe
I have to admit i was one of those people camping the DB spawnpoint at EB yesterday. We had the whole map except for the FA keep that our zerg was attacking. To be fair though it was just 2 of us on our alt characters, a lvl 16 ranger and a lvl 30 warrior, so if DB had sent more than 2 people out at once we woulda got killed. They didnt. After we killed about 10-12 guys 1 by 1 (probably the same dude) we just sat there, set up 2 arrow carts, took screenshots, and played around with the legendary guards. We left after half an hour though because we got bored XD
I need karma and items and that is why I farm plinx.
Now, I am ok to move around every hour or so and do something else to not get affected by the diminishing return code but I was wondering what I could do.
Which of the following will remove the diminishing return code from my character?
1.) going back to login screen/changing character and instantly changing back
2.) afk for 10 – 15 minutes (like go on the trading post or something)
3.) go to wvw for 20-30 mins, then back to orr
4.) go to lions arch, do a dungeon run, come back.
Thanks guys
I have put in rare shields 5 times and gotten 1 exotic (since the update). Not saying the statistics has or hasnt changed in terms of item quality upgrade but it is still possible
add me please im lvl 80 guardian full exotic need lots of onyx for flameseeker prophecy hehe
I agree with the OP on the first point because of the boss camping going on in game (I do it too so yeah XD)
The second point I think they are referring to karma merchants (heart quests) who wont sell to you until you help them out. Some of the items they sell ARE important (cough cough cooking) and someone who hasnt done this quest cant get or see any of the vendor items. However since you can easily look up which heart merchant sells the item you need (on wiki or gw2db) it kind of takes away from that feel a little bit.
For the third point I think they are referring to areas such as waypoints that are contested or areas that are inaccessible unless the players do an event to unlock them.

You know, given all the negative comments in this thread reminds me of the SAO anime I am watching (sword art online), where the beta testers of this game managed to hog all the good farming spots, get the highest levels and the best items. Glad my life isnt at risk i n Gw2 though lol.

Hi, I was there a few hours ago watching you dance with it XD (how do u swing your weapon while dancing? I thought the weapons usually disappear when you type the /dance command). Got lucky enough to be there at the time it changed color (from the day/night cycle). Thanks and congrats
I’d like to know if anyone has studied tornado’s effectiveness a a whirl finisher, considering it has a quite a long duration relative to other whirl finishers. Considering the fact that a staff ele has quite a few combo fields, I was wondering how effective a combo field + tornado combination could be.

Wow I hadnt noticed that I’ll check later I guess although its not really a big deal XD.
Are you sure that you hadn’t clicked on another object/player. As far as I know your characters head will actually rotate to look at whatever you have selected.
<——— Imbalanced hero, duh, obviously your character was born to save tyria right? and judging by the Zhaitan battle difficulty you must be pretty imbalanced XD
Also, having every other player in the game refer to you as hero (because nobody wants to type imbalanced hero in chat since its too long) is awesome.
i named my ranger kennie Mccormick in reference to the character from the Southpark comedy series.
For those that dont watch it kenny is a character that dies in almost every episode but comes back in the next episode with everyone else in the movie forgetting that he has died. I thought it would be funny naming my character this as it reflects his ability to “respawn” every time after dying :P
The spelling was made like that on purpose because Kenny Mccormick was already taken
If you WvW for a while eventually you will realise which commanders are good and which ones are just rich but have no skills.
Personally I’d say leave the commander fee as it is, any good sink is good in my opinion considering the price of gems these days.
Having said that, I would like an option implemented so you can remove commander icons from your display minimap, without having to be in another commander’s squad
Its extremely annoying trying to attack volatile blossoms and having it say “obstructed” half the time for no reason. I mean seriously these things kill really fast so I’d prefer not to have this bug. Should be an easy fix for you guys I think. Thanks
No, sorry I disagree…
Have you been to that 1 website which shows the respawn time for all 3 dragons? I mean assuming they spawn every 3 ours then I would be able to get 9 rares by just camping the dragonspawns for 9 hours? I could do other stuff in between and wouldnt be doing anything else in game hahaa
They should make a mystic forge recipe where u can drop like 20-25 black lion chests in and it will become 1-5 mystic coins. I mean seriously the number of chests lying around is ridiculous.
Every group I am in fights this guy
1) waypoint is important
2) loots
3) he’s easy to beat
dunno why u are saying more and more people are skipping him, I would argue that the time you spend to kill him is made up by the fact that you can waypoint back to his area after doing the next part of the dungeon (in runs 1 and 2)

^ says it all, sometimes its not obvious that you need 5 of those exquisite jewels to make the item. I mean it wouldnt be exotic if it wasnt hard to make XD
Because if they dont, they should..
This would help encourage people to look for farming places where nobody else goes, spreading out the population across maps.
I run a max of 41% magic find nowadays (sigil of superior luck on my shield and peach tart for mf and power). mostly i do dungeons and i dont have any problems with any explorable paths so far. I admit i used to run 150%+ MF but I dont anymore. Here are my reasons why:
1) getting aimed and dying: magic find items only give dmg and no hp. This means that all mobs will pretty much aims you (and kill you pretty quick) unless there is someone on your party who is going pure glass cannon. Nowadays, most good dungeon runners know that survivability > dps, so the chances of you getting aimed with magic find gear is even higher.
2) related to 1, more dying = higher repair bills. With my current magic find I pick up on average 1 rare every dungeon run. With good magic find I might pick up 3 rares every 2 runs. So does the repair bill cost difference for 2 runs = the price of 1 rare on the TP? probably ( i assume between 15-20 silver)
3) People tend to expect to get lots of rares with high MF and it frustrates them when they dont. Have you ever been in a dungeon fight where you died multiple times (because the mobs aimes your sorry kitten low hp), had to respawn constantly and run back, and when you finally finish and get to loot, someone else gets a rare and you dont? I mean come on the other guy doesnt use MF at all, and he doesnt have a massive repair bill and three damaged armor pieces because he didnt die at all… Yeah
hence i no longer use high magic find. Having said that, I dont mind grouping with people who DO use magic find in dungeons, because if < enemies aim me = better for me
This isnt the case for lvl 80 items though right? I mean once people have lvl 400 crafting if you cant make a profit why bother making anything at all? Eventually all the crafters will stop making stuff, prices on the TP get more expensive, and crafters start making more stuff again.
Having said that, I have made a small amount of money by crafting green jewelry in the trading post
Well these are my fastest paths (because of skipping certain parts obviously). Most of it is the same as the OP
1) SE path 1 (mcskip inquest wave + spiderman to 2nd boss)
2) HOTW path 2 (skip 1/2 boss for the first chest, skip underwater part, gg)
3) AC path 1 (run past all the gravelings when collecting scepter pieces)
