Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

jeezlaweez.6810

My feedback for this expansion is one thing apart from this. This is about Elite and Hero Points.

Right now, in PvE, the Expansion Pack rolls like this for a lvl 80 character with full map completion:

- Prologue + 1st Chapter
- Get XP for Glider, then use the glider to get 2 mastery points. Then get more xp to unlock these masteries.
- Start doing Hero Points. I Find out that 50% of the hero points at the “Starter map” of the expansion needs to be done with a group. Let’s get back to masteries.
- The masteries are gated by masteries that are gated by the story. Let’s do Story.
- Done Story until end of act 1.
- Got back to hero points, since now I have updraft. I find out that 80% of players with updraft are already at Auric Basin, a map that almost needs no Updraft. There’s a Hero Challenge in Verdant Brink Canopy with a Champion by the end of a puzzle that needs not only finger skill, but to get lucky and pray to your glider to open without lag, how can I call out other players, since they are leveling masteries doing events (and if they stop, they’ll get behind).
- So now I found a stuck. I can’t level my Elite, because other maps are full of champions in Hero Points, some Masteries are locked behind masteries, hero points locked behind THOSE masteries, your story is (was) locked behind an unreachable mastery at that point, but I need to do it anyways to unlock the last Mastery category.

I have a great Reaper incomplete, but because I can salvage from what is offered to me. But I work, I have a family, I have other stuff to do. This Elite won’t get advanced until I find out how to bypass the grind (it IS a Grind. By concept and by execution), since you have to complete 4500 events to fully unlock the masteries. You know how many events you need for Emergency Response Hero Achievement? 5000 events, but all over Tyria o.O. This is not an achievement. It’s repeating something over and over. And I don’t even get it. How can I see the content, if I’m worried about which champion will spawn next with 800.000 hp?

Issue Reports: Heart of Thorns [Merged]

Good evening. Here are some issues I’m having.

- 100% map completion characters don’t gain any chests completing Southsun Cove, Dry Top and Silverwastes. It also happens if you already completed those maps. My other characters have them just fine.
- I have 2 Guilds: one at level 6 and one at level 3. The level 6 one has access to Guild Influence Trader, The other one dont. It’s not stated anywhere that a guild needs to be at level X to get the vendor.
- Some “escort” events are kinda badly designed to work with the “Innactive warning”. The warning happens a LOT because of the lack of enemies around, even if you are inside the event area, moving around, and even healing some escorts. I was even prevented to get the rewards because one of the events in Verdant Brink hasn’t any enemy around for 2 minutes. The warning and the subsequent “disconnect” from the event participation should be for idle players, or if you leave the event area. Not for don’t hitting a single enemy for 2 minutes. Like I said, this happens a lot more than it should and interferes with chat and rewards.

Thanks in advance.

Suggestion: Secondary traits from stats

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

jeezlaweez.6810

First of all, since this is a suggestion, I would like to recieve positive critics and feedbacks. What I’m trying here is to have other stats combinations as something to aim for, even for PvP or WvW, or roles, as far as you can go on those here in this game.

Second: this should be applied to monsters/environment/etc as well, for they could benefit of styles variations and roles required against them. Specially veterans, elites and heavyweight bosses (PvE regular mobs should remain as something that can be killed by one capable toon).

My suggestion is to create a system where stats (power, precision, vitality… and so on) provide secondary traits when picked at high values. Those secondary traits should never outshine characteristics given by runes and sigils, but, in fact, serve as a complement to your build, a bonus. Something that could make other builds attractive and at the same time creating a sense of surprise coming from your enemy.

So here’s what I thought. Remember that it should be always on high values, say… above 1700 for the 1000 baselines (power, precision, vitality and toughness), and above 1000 for the 0 baselines: ferocity, condition damage, and healing power:

- Power could give 1-10% bonus to Hard Crowd Control durations, depending on its value.
- Precision could ignore 1-5% the enemy’s armor defense value (not the total value, only those provided by armor sets and shield), depending on its value.
- Toughness could give 1-10% reduced duration to incoming Hard Crowd Control durations, depending on its value.
- Vitality could give 1-10% reduced duration to incoming Conditions (not-Hard CC), depending on its value.
- Ferocity could give a 5% bonus on running speed (cumulative to other sources) OR 1-5% reduced cooldown on skills, depending on its value.
- Condition Damage could give 1-10% bônus to Condition Duration (excluding Hard CC), depending on its value.
- Healing Power could give 1-10% bônus on boon durations, depending on its value.

So that’s it. Tell me what you think.

Some “emotes” already have space into the program code, it seems. /taunt, for example, is one of them. They don’t return the “unknown command” message. I don’t know why they didn’t implemented.

The Six Gods Squad [SIX] is a helpful brazilian guild that started as a project to create a place so brazilian players could use as a looking for group tool, a chat to all those in need for information and help, and to help new players and returning ones to get updated with the game. We do not require 100% Represent and estimulate players to seek what they want to do within the game, helping them to achieve that. Our administration also has a fanpage on Facebook, where we translate patch notes to Brazilian Portuguese, elaborate guides, and help answer any doubts, doesn’t matter if a guild member or not.

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SixGods.GW2
Server: Crystal Desert based, but we accept any NA server within our ranks. We are usually online in-game by the night in Brazil, but we can answer any time in our Facebook page.
Type: PvE (and PvP in the future)
Culture: Heavily Social and Friendly (Portuguese language is required)
No need for any voice chat, but our members can use their own choice if they like.

Items: Royal Guard Outfit and Shields
Race: Human
Profession: Engineer
Gender: Male

Bug details: Royal Guardian Outfit clips a lot with several shields (see screenshots for examples) probably because the wielding arm in character model is nearer the body than it should be when using this outfit.

What about one skin from Hall of Monuments? Some of us didn’t play GW1 and doesn’t want to. One skin, though, would make your birthdays meaningful (including altholics with 20+ characters) and rewardable. 1 skin wouldn’t break the game.

Consider bringing the old trait system back

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

jeezlaweez.6810

OP is speaking for himself. I love the new specialization system.

- no ties between traits and stats anymore: the armor is more important now and you can freely choose your build.
- no useless or meh traits like “this only do this” or “I work only with one skill you use”. Neither placeholders traits only to get Grandmaster or Master ones.
- I don’t need to grind gold or time to unlock the traits, I choose what to unlock anytime I want.
- Builds are more tied to the character now than ever. I can grab two of the same profession and not feeling I’m running a clone.
- Elite Specializations NEED this new system to work and not break the game. You sacrifice one line to get the new benefits, a fair trade.

EDIT:
I have 16 characters, 2 leveling right now, 2 of each profession. From the 14 ones I have at level 80, 12 maintained the old build with better traits (since now they have 3 Grandmaster), 1 I had to change the armor because he needed, not because the new system per se, his build became viable, in fact. 1 I had to change because 2 of the traits were misplaced before (like… why would you spread Flamethrower traits?!?!) and now they belong to the right specialization.

This new Lion’s Arch is like playing OoT and Majora’s Mask, it made me smile. 10/10 I’ll go back everyday.

Heal. Power scaling like new Cond. Damage

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

jeezlaweez.6810

First of all, I would like to praise all the intentions and effort done by the team in creating a new mechanic for the Conditions and Condition Damage. As a Necromancer player, this sounds like Beethoven to me.

That being said, I would like to suggest that you guys take a look on how Healing Power and Healing Skills work as today, since Cleric and Nomad equips are heavily directed to characters that use Healing Power as a major defensive stat and should not be thrown out like garbage (specially Nomad’s, because it’s a recently inserted stats build and I know that you did have a plan for that).

Like Conditions Damage is now until the new update comes, the high base value that healing skills have gives offensive builds some advantage, because they don’t need to sacrifice something in turn to get a good healing (some healing skills even have low recharge, so at long battles, or even large scale+long battles, those healings can make a Full Berserker survive easily). Since Condition Damage will now scale much more from the stat than the base damage value, I guess that would be something to consider to do to Healing Power and Healing Skills. I know that the proposition of GW2 is not to have a Trinity-based classes or builds, but I think that finding a middle-ground is possible, so that Hardcore contents can benefit from a good balanced party and build.

Thanks in advance and I hope you consider this. The work you done on Condition Damage is great and I trust you’ll find a way so everyone can have fun.

Technically swapping stances in a revenant is no different than swapping attunements on an elementalist.

Technically they are different because swapping attunements out of combat still results in a normal cooldown.

Yes, they are different, but the major thing is that people often forget to read the rules:

“Your next attack after swapping to this weapon while in combat steals some health.”

Every weapon swap sigil has this rule AND the cooldown.

Getting to Know Your Fellow Posters Thread

Nice topic, OP, pretty smooth!

Well…. here it goes

- I’m 29ys old, and I’m goin’ to 3.0 at the 4th of July. No Kidding.
- However, I’m not from USA. I’m Brazilian.
- my name in-game is an homage to Star Fox, mainly Falco, that always says “Jeez Laweez, what is that?!”
- I played Soccer and Basketball, but never gone pro. Despite not being an american guy, I love American Football. I love the 49ers since I heard about Joe Montana.
- My favorite cartoon/anime is Trigun, but I love the old TNMT from 80’s, so much that I made my mind to name my son “Leonardo”. Well, Vash wouldn’t be bad either, but I don’t think it would make any sense.
- I have a wife and she plays GW2 more than myself, we both run a Portuguese-BR fanpage about the game on Facebook that is reaching 500 likes (yey)
- My main is Necromancer, but I almost went with Guardian. See I love Paladins since I played AD&D for the first time. But Guardian wasn’t a “paladin” for me when I started playing 2y ago… however, nowdays I play more with my guardian than my Necro, because I made him a Paladin ahaha Thanks ANET for boosting the Shield Skills recharge, btw.
- This is the only MMO that I play. It’s the only one that I really liked because it feels like a RPG. But I don’t do in-game RP.
- I play games since I was a 4-year old kid with a Master System II, Alex Kidd is unique until today. But my favorite console was the N64 and I still own and play mine.
- My fav color is green, but I like red a lot.
- I have a bromance with Hal Jordan, that kitten. And I love the secondary heroes from DC Comics, like Atom, Nightwing and Zatanna. I loved when Cyborg was included on JL, he is my favorite Titan.
- last, but not least, I’m an Social Anthropologist, and I’ve studied Religions mainly.

Have a pic of my Necromancer with my wife’s Mesmer, laughing about the “My job is better than yours” guy.

Humans don’t need 4 members to run at full speed.

Joking aside, I agree that humans are weakened now, but in terms. Humans that are not good with truce often become bandits, separatists and other villains, so if they could become a real nation, humans would be much stronger.

Every race has its problems. Charr, for example cannot really make Legions work as Cooperative force without some competition, which is why they cannot defeat Flame Legion.
