Nemata Sapshield – Dragonhunter
Lillian Estre – Tempest
I finally decided to equip it last night and quite annoyed with it. The effects are so buggy. 40% of the time I couldnt get the aura to work, had to weapon swap multiple times.
I’ve rarely had issues with the aura showing, and I’m pretty sure that’s not just Howler and all legendary auras. The only actual glitch about Howler I would say is it howls forever at night-time, but that’s easily remedied by just auto-attacking once.
Congrats on soloing one of the easiest bosses in the game?
Sure its lv48, but still this boss is kind of a face-roll, as long as you don’t mess up and get hit by his agony it should go pretty smoothly no matter what, and being a guardian just makes this boss even easier to solo.
There’s a lot of lore behind this tower, especially from gw1. I linked a video below that should explain it pretty well.
If you’re doing this path casually, I would suggest bringing a great-sword as a mesmer for this part. The auto attack on gs is one of those unique ‘laser’ type abilities that doesn’t get stopped by the fire bubbles, whereas other projectiles get blocked. This is true for guardian staff auto as well, but since you can aegis through the fire bubble, a guardian shouldn’t be ranging this part.
That being said, it is annoying that clones and pets instantly die to the fire bubbles, but it’s more of an annoyance than a game-breaking mechanic.

HotW gives glacial cores/lodestones
^ This guy is right. HotW gives glacial, not corrupted
The chests from Hotw drop glacial, but the bosses themselves (and maybe the mobs) have a chance to drop corrupted, albeit the drop-rate is beyond atrocious.
There is not a lot of sympathy to be had from the other 99% of the player base for improving the lot of folks with legendaries… Especially with the announcement of Legendaries becoming stat-morphing Asceneded weapons later this year. Its an elegant solution to a serious coding issue (how to upgrade all the existing legedaries that have been skinned on to other stat-lines) but I don’t know that there needs to be even more incentive to get them.
I see your point but at the same time, if someone spends the time/effort/money to craft a legendary weapon, they shouldn’t be limited to having it on only one character. Currently there is a way to move legendary weapons to another toon using 2 fine transmutation crystals, but after they implement the swappable-stat system I doubt you’ll want to/be able to transmute them, so making them account bound at the same time will still allow character swapping.
P.S. It would also prevent people from putting legendary weapons on lower than lv80 characters, if the legendary weapons are un-transmutable, account bound, and restricted to lv80 exotic/ascended stats.
I support this.
Awhile back they updated a few weapon icons like the ‘mist’ weapons, but neglected to give volcanus and a few of the other conjured weapon skins unique icons. Since some of these weapons cost 200+ gold, it only seems fair for them to have unique icons to match their unique skins.
You have a Legendary = You have NO problem
What a completely useless comment….
Anyways I agree with the OP, legendary weapons should be able to be moved from character to character without wasting fine transmutation crystals. I’m wondering if Anet is going to make legendary weapons account bound when they introduce the swappable-stat system.
Also since GS on warrior isn’t really optimal in PvE either (since Axe/Mace overshadows it in sustained damage), you might think of going for Frostfang or The Moot.
I don’t think so, and i don’t hope so. Transmuting should be a choice and a risk you do. If Anet did change everything it wouldnt be fun. I would be like: “OH im just gonna destroy my legendary, because Anet will bring it back later”… Thats not how it works. Your choices is your choices and it will have consequenses
Also, i don’t get why people transmute their legendary… If you have full zerk armour + trinkets ONE WEAPONS doesnt matter that much… if zerkers really can’t stand having PVT why do they even go for a legendary?
the precision lost out on a 1hand weapon is 3% crit chance, thats like 200 effective power alone, not to mention the 5 crit damage which is another 75-100 effective power.
Then you have 2h weapons which is 6% crit chance and 9 crit damage, a rather large amount of effective power as well. Also from someone like me who has put in the effort to make 4 nearly 5 legendaries I would like the same ability to swap on the fly, you know since mine cost just as much as someone who didn’t transmute.
This.
The whole “you transmuted at your own risk” argument is filled with so much ignorance and is just a slap in the face.
That being said, an anet member on my server said that they’re probably going to reset/upgrade all legendary weapons, including transmuted ones. I just hope they make them account bound on use at the same time.
I have Frostfang myself, and I’m not sure you’re suggestions are necessary. A passive chattering noise might get quite annoying, it already gives Whirling Axe a trail if Frostfang itself is in your offhand, enemies already display chilled death animations when they die, and the breath is pretty balanced where it is.
The only changes I think are important, is to give offhand Frostfang the ice arm effect, and maybe make the trail of Frostfang’s attacks be a passive effect (as in a constant trail like sunrise/twilight).
An easy solution to your problem is starting your own group, and advertising that it’ll be a non-glitch run.
Use http://gw2lfg.net/ if you don’t already.
I agree that fractals among many other things should be account bound, namely story dungeon completion and dyes but that’s beyond the point.
From the sounds of it, it sounds like they’re only bugged on Sylvari men
I recently chose the Radiant Mantle through my achievement rewards, only to find it to be 2x larger than its suppose to on my character. Below are pictures of my character, and how its suppose to look.
Anyone else have this problem?
….plus trying to dodge the trees attacks. If you have any specific tips on clearing the spiders (especially after reset) I’d love to hear them.
You know the Nightmare Tree itself on this path doesn’t do anything right? As in, its attacks are ignorable, the only attack the tree does that is important is when he shakes, which spawns the spiders.
The entire point of this fight is just to find a way to deal with the mobs of spiders, whether it be kiting and circling the tree in 1 direction, or face-tanking with reflection.
No.
The reason why it is called explorable is simply because you are exploring what happened to the place after the story mode was concluded.
I see what you’re saying, and I understand how they are ‘explorable’ in a sense, but I would still like to see some open-instance dungeons, or maybe a mode where every dungeon path is open?
These “explorable” dungeons are designed to be grinded (just take a look at the number of runs it takes you to get even 2 pieces of armor, let alone a full set)….
It’s funny you say the explorable dungeons are meant to be grinded, due to Anet’s strict no grinding policy, but I can see where you’re getting this from.
….and a dungeon that you could explore would be much to easy too be repeatable..
I’m confused by this statement, are you saying that a truly explorable dungeon would be too easy in difficulty? Or too easy to repeat multiple times per day? If you meant the first, as far as I’m aware the ‘dungeon’ instances in GW1 like DOA, UW, FOW were all extremely difficult, but also gave good rewards.
(edited by jwaz.1908)
So I was watching some videos of GW1, like DOA and such, and realized that the dungeons in GW2 are not actually explorable. Calling it an ‘explorable’ dungeon means its free world or open map, and you’re actually able to explore and run around to different areas; whereas in actuality, explorable dungeons in GW2 are just harder story dungeons, with linear paths and NPCs.
I would really like some more difficult, actually explorable dungeons or modes with no NPCs, no paths, and story.
coe p2 p3 are faster than p1 if you know what you’re doing and they provide more rewards (t6 dusts p2+p3, des lodes p3).
Provide more rewards? Ya.
Faster? Nah slower by a couple minutes.
How hard is it to add a single bank tab ._.
Then for the other bosses, they all literally just sit there doing nothing while you whack them to death, it’s an extremely easy dungeon.
This isn’t entirely true, but I do agree that the dungeon is easy if everyone knows what they are doing. For example, on the golem boss, chaining knockdowns/stuns when he is going to spin is crucial to ensure a smooth kill, and on the plant boss the mesmer using temporal curtain to pull in rogue golems also makes things faster/smoother.
Oh and guardian putting up aegis when the destroyer boss casts dragon’s tooth, or else everyone goes boom.
Dying particle effects is hard? Apparently not.. maybe Anet should think about allowing us to change the colors of certain weapons/armors. Imagine a green or yellow Anomaly or Volcanus.
I don’t really do casual guild runs. If that involves Rangers shooting with a bow and not being useful, then there’s probably no reason to take one. Spotter and Frost Spirit are huge. If you don’t play with Sigil of Perception, you probably aren’t going to be getting close to 95% crit chance unless you are a Guardian with 30 in Radiance. It’s like having an extra Banner of Strength / Discipline. Ranger can be a very good candidate for replacing a Warrior, especially because that 3rd Warrior is pretty much a place filler. That does require a build like this, though, and I don’t expect every pug or casual player to adopt this… Although maybe it will motivate them just a little bit.
1. I’m fairly certain frost spirit has an internal cooldown that causes the damage increase to be more like 3.5% than 7% to the entire party.
2. That ‘3rd’ warrior slot is much better filled with something else than a ranger (LH ele is a good candidate).
I realize this is somewhat of a troll thread, but I would still like to point out how easy it is to kill the destroyer in one try with an optimized set up (even with 4 people its easy), so with a ranger it isn’t all that impressive.
It’s not really a troll thread. The point of the video is that Rangers aren’t as bad as people seem to think they are.
Alright, so you can do average dps with a ranger so what? Doesn’t change the fact that every other class can out dps them, and that they offer no sort of party support or useful utility (as you said).
The main reason why everyone hates rangers is due to the type of people who play them, aka people who’d rather sit at a safe distance and range targets. I can say from experience (I’ve played ranger for 1900 hours or so) that rangers support laziness and bad party awareness.

You only had 40 AR? What level were you doing, as far as I know 35 AR is doable on FOTM 48, just gotta time guardian tome properly.
Please do not listen to rubbish like this.
@OP as I stated above, as far as pure gold per hour dungeoneering/exploring/meta events etc there is nothing close to cof in terms of GPH/Day
Even grinding cofp1 for hours a day it will still take you a huge amount of time to amass enough gold for a legendary and its materials. Therefore my statement was in fact, very accurate. Elitists will always try to belittle you subtly because unfortunately they have already invested the time and effort prior to times that are now and have completed their grinds before things were nerfed.
You’re right I was lying. Cof p1 will always be the only way to make money in this game, I’m just an elitist who thinks there are other dungeons to make money.
This is something anet is working on, they said it’s still a work in progress but they’re actively working on it.
Spirits need more work than just that, but it would be a start.
Just an FYI though, frost spirit has an internal cooldown on its 10% damage proc, while I don’t remember the exact numbers, it was something like frost spirits improves damage by 3.5% whereas a warrior banner improves damage by 10%. Those aren’t exact numbers but you get the idea.
and then turning into a disaster and a waste of time.
Usually though, it only turns into a disaster due to people not knowing how to skip through mobs properly, since there aren’t any skip parts in dungeons that are impossible.
I wouldn’t suggest making and selling something like Aether. If someone wants a skin like that, they are more likely to make it themselves since it’s cheaper that way.
As Esplen suggested, doing dungeons is the best way for a new player to get gear, through either dungeon tokens or the gold you’d make.
If you don’t take my advice though, here’s a couple websites to help you figure out the price/profit of making and selling a special skin:

Would groups be accepting of a Guardian or a Thief in Zerker gear?
From my experience, speed run groups aren’t too keen on accepting zerker guardians, I wouldn’t know about thief though.
I don’t know much about necromancers, but this sounds like a cool idea. Maybe offhand torch or maybe even mainhand torch as a ghastly/spirit weapn. Just a thought.
If they were going to go that route, it would make more sense to add another slot in the equipment screen just to add an item that gives your character and glow/particle effect to the current armor or make it only for a chest or head piece.
This would be my choice for implementing legendary armor, and I suggested the same thing in another similar thread.
Make the legendary piece JUST the particle effect upgrade that can be applied to any armor piece, so we don’t have 35 million people running around in the same armor set just because it has purple text.
This game is about aesthetic customization, after all.
I disagree that legendary armor should just be a slot for a particle effect. I think if anything, legendary armor should just be the best looking armor in the game, or have something interesting about it rather than just a particle, in fact adding a particle effect would be harder since it would clash with any given by legendary weapons.
Somehow when you rush into it, the boss spawns 4 recluse along with a number of smaller spiders. Those are the things that kills us. As soon as we kill them, they respawn back. Or are we not supposed to kill them?
You’re suppose to ignore the mobs entirely, and just DPS the Nightmare Tree down as fast as possible. If you stand inside reflection and melee the boss from the start, you can easily defeat this boss before more than 1 or 2 mobs spawn, since their spawning is actually tied to an ability of the Nightmare Tree itself.
Please refer to the videos I have linked above to see this strategy done properly.
If you didn’t like the skin/effect why did you make it? Unless you’re referring to other people that you have seen.
I personally love the skin/effect and don’t see a reason to alter it. While yes some skins have ‘sheathed’ forms where some particles don’t show, it wouldn’t make sense for The Anomaly to operate the same way.
Yeah unless you want to run CoF p1 a million times, theres really no way of making a decent amount of money…oddly enough.
I do run fractals and I can get a handful of gold a day 5-10, but cof p1 is like 4g an hour alone.
It’s just an odd feeling no matter what you do in this game, you don’t feel like anything is helping you progress toward a legendary, like you’ve hit a wall. Unless you do cof p1 of course. Still, I don’t want to do that and blow my brains out a week in.
This isn’t entirely accurate. There are other ways to make money in gw2 than cof p1 (and I’m not referring to playing the TP). While these ways might be slightly slower or require more effort, they’re kitten ring so that’s always a plus.
Also as far as I recall, cof p1 is more like 6g per hour, are you finding bad pugs or running it sub-optimally?
Fractals of the Mist needs more revisions than just adding more fractals, but that would be a good start.
Our attempt to finish Forward/UP =/ 6 attempts but no chance.
2 Warriors, 2 Guardians, 1 Necromancer
All I saw was you guys playing extremely badly, and not executing the strategy properly. If you watch either of my guild’s videos, you’ll see that this boss can be done easily with that strategy as long as you do it right.
First off the video wasn’t of your first attempt, which is crucial for this strategy to work, you don’t get to mess up and try again. Secondly, the guardians didn’t chain reflects properly, AND even when Wall of Reflection was up 3 of you were behind it, rendering it completely useless, which was human error not bad boss design.
I’m getting tired of the QQ and people claiming this boss to be impossible. Sure this boss can be hard if everyone is ranging, if you have condi builds and run whatever professions you want, and most of all, if the players executing the strategy don’t know how to play.

I don’t understand, is this a troll thread? OP posted a pic with a bunch of invisible people in it, and said culling is removed. Yet so many are confirming, so…plz explain.
I am not trolling, as Ayrilana said I’m running on lowest graphics settings. The screenshot is suppose to show how every nameplate is now shown (instead of you only being able to see the names/people around you), in addition, the closest people to me are using basic character models now.
While I really appreciate something like this, I can’t help but wonder will it cause more damage to the performance.
I saw no decrease in performance, although like you said I was running on lowest graphics. I would really like options to alter culling too though, similar to wvw.
Same on SOS, at Jormag too.
I wonder what people will call the Claw of Jormag when the real Jormag is in the game.
Hmm? Don’t you mean the opposite?
Here’s some more:
– Banner of Discipline
– Banner of Strength
– Empowered Allies Trait (Warrior)
Me and a guildy just noticed that during jormag, we could see everyone and they used basic character models, guess anet sneaked in this fix? Graphics options would be nice to alter the culling though, and it seems culling hasn’t been removed from lion’s arch yet.
I would really like Caladbolg as a greatsword skin, which is sylvari-ish, but I doubt anet would add a way to get it.
getting higher AR would made 40-49 way easier.
You get mostly oneshot with current AR.
Its the reason why 38 is so easy compared to 40+
In the higher levels though, you pretty much get 1 shot no matter what, so it becomes more about prevention (dodging/reflection/aegis) than tanking with AR.
No offense, but that’s a horrible idea. While ascended weapons may be hard to get, I doubt they’d be harder to get than a legendary, so you’d just be wasting time, money, and a perfectly good legendary.
use a ranged weapon. stay out of the room. let the npc die. if you pull any spiders, kill them off.
even 3/5 people in a group all using skill 1 on a rifle / longbow / etc will bring the tree down inside 10 mins. it’s a little boring, yes, but it still takes almost no time.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but that’s bad advice.
This boss can be done in 1 minute before the even spider mobs spawn if you just go in and melee from the start. A guardian or mesmer putting up reflection always helps if one or two spider mobs do spawn though, just gotta know when to put them up and rotate them.
Boss being done in 1 minute without armor on…
Cof P1 should, at worst be around 8 minutes with a speed run group, the record being around 4:55 minutes or something like that.
If you don’t want to run with ‘elite’ players, don’t join speed clear groups, because they are looking for people who know how to maximize DPS.
That being said, there are a few parts where downing happens, so in the first instance the guy overreacted it seems. That also being said though, downing is (usually) a result of not knowing or being capable of dodging, so in order to run a full dps build you have to be on the ball with dodges.
Seeing that Anet capped fractals at 50 , and how agony scales exponentially, I’m not sure how necessary/valuable the extra agony resist would be. Recipes to infuse amulets and accessories would still be nice though.
lol could you imagine the materials needed to craft an entire set of legendary armor
If they were going to go that route, it would make more sense to add another slot in the equipment screen just to add an item that gives your character and glow/particle effect to the current armor or make it only for a chest or head piece.
It wouldn’t be that hard actually, the mystic forge recipe would be for a box containing all the armor pieces, instead of just each individual piece.
That being said, I don’t really want to see legendary armor in this game.
Congrats, I’m a big fan of Kraitkin.
It’s funny how everyone is making underwater legendary weapons now. Two people in my guild made Kraitkin too recently, one is almost done, and I just started crafting Kamohoali’i Kotaki.
