Wintersbite - Remove from Loot Table

This is an economy. Yes, anet can influence it by changing drop rates. Look a ectos.

And hate to break it to ya, this happens in RL too (Steam summer sales….)

I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make. Wintersbite is not a normal drop, it is a unique mystic forge skin… Adding something that was ONLY crafted to the Claw of Jormag loot tables is more than changing drop rates….

Precursors cost even more on the TP. Are you ok with those coming from the chests?

Precursors aren’t special skins that are crafted in the mystic forge, they are 1/4 of a legendary weapon, so you can’t compare the two.

…are you sure that someone wasn’t just trolling you by pinging his crafted weapon after Jormag?

Look on the TP, why would 24 people craft and list Wintersbite for 200g less than it costs to craft it. The only logical explanation is it drops from the Claw of Jormag event, which is something I’ve read here on the forums…

Is Ranger A good solo profession ?

I don’t understand how you can all claim the ranger is the best solo profession. They’re terrible at fighting alone.

We are the easiest class to level, and the easiest to solo open-world PvE content because we have pets to tank/distract. Unfortunately, pets fall short in high-level PvE content, which is why we are regarded as the worst profession.

Wintersbite - Remove from Loot Table

in Suggestions

Posted by: jwaz.1908

jwaz.1908

I recently discovered that the ice bow Wintersbite drops for the Claw of Jormag meta event. While I don’t oppose unique skins from dropping from such events, I find it insulting that such an item (one that could only be crafted from the mystic forge) now simply drops from an event.

I’ve personally crafted a Wintersbite, and spent around 250g to do so, but now its only worth 90g due to the number of them dropping. The worst part is the shortbow version, Wintersbark, doesn’t drop so is still around 250g.

Please remove Wintersbite from the Claw of Jormag loot tables, since you’re alienating those of us who crafted them before they started dropping, and defeating the purpose of crafting one in the mystic forge.

Edit:

For any one who does not believe me, Wintersbite does in fact drop from the Claw of Jormag meta-event, here’s evidence…

HoTW p2 is not difficult.

The so-called ‘elite’ speed runners don’t like it because players actually need to fight mobs, particularly underwater.

If you have a decent underwater class, p2 is a faceroll.

You’re correct, HOTW p2 isn’t hard at all. I think the main reason people don’t do it though, is cause it takes longer. Even if you skip the first champion marauder, the second one still takes awhile to kill. Also the final boss can be a pain.

Actually it’s not bugged/flawed. Robert Hrouda has mentioned on multiple occasions that he purposefully allowed Jade Maw to target pets/minions/clones, in case people wanted to use them strategically as a temporary relief for players.

GS Ranger, what makes a good secondary?

in Ranger

Posted by: jwaz.1908

jwaz.1908

As previously stated, it really depends on what content you’ll be playing, since each has its own applications.

  • Shortbow – SB is an extremely versatile weapon, while it has good CCs and suvivability for PvP situations, it also has good sustained damage that has PvE applications as well. So SB would be a solid choice for either sPvP, WvW, and PvE.
  • Axe – Due to the bouncing auto-attack, axe is better in cooperative PvE like dungeons, since it may be hard to optimize in PvP situations. In addition, axe has very little survivability, making it worse for PvP where evades are a ranger’s strong-suit.
  • Sword – Opposite of axe, ranger sword is more of a PvP weapon, since it has built in evades, CCs, and generally more survivability. Good for both sPvP and WvW (roaming, not zerg fights).
  • Warhorn – Like shortbow, warhorn is great for many types of gameplay. The speed boost is invaluable in WvW zerging/roaming and the party-wide fury is great for dungeons.

Some other posts mention torch, which I have little experience with, but it seems like it would be good in any game-play. All in all, it really just depends on your play-style and what content you’ll be doing. My descriptions above are more generalized statements, so take them with a grain of salt. All ranger weapons have their uses, I carry greatsword, axe/warhorn, shortbow, and longbow all for doing dungeons, switching when necessary.

I have to disagree with you here. Unless you need clovers, doing the clover recipe is a huge waste of money. While yes, if you get 30-40 blood or dust you’ll be making a profit, almost any other item you receive (other than lodestones which are very rare) will be a loss.

You’d be better off selling your ecto/mystic coins and buying the mats. But since you need a stack of ecto for the gift of fortune too, I doubt you’d want to gamble them away or sell them.

EDIT: Let me clarify… Legendary weapons and unique weapons now retain their original names, so a transmuted legendary will still have purple text and its original name. It will, however, say transmuted rather than legendary under the weapon type, and there is another bug that, when you unequip a legendary, it will state the name of the exotic rather than the legendary in the chat log.

With time I’m sure these kinks will get worked out, and when they release ascended weapons, they’d better upgrade all our legendary weapons, not just the lame PVT originals.

Lightning Reflexes - Break Immobilize

in Ranger

Would like it if we could have a few variants of the skill. Take the suggestions above, redue the cool down a lot and then add the following. Lightning Reflex right, left, backward, forward, for ward right, forward left, backwards left, backwards right.

This would mean we are still stuck with going one direction but we could choose what direction we want to have on our hotbar. And if enemys became familiar with us we could slot a different direction. This would also make it so it was a lightning reflex and not a slow ground target type move etc.

Interesting idea, I think it might work better though if Lightning Reflexes acted like a dodge roll, and sent you in the direction your moving (or the direction you point your arrow keys).

Like, can you kill Tequatl, Fire Elemental, Ulgoth, and Eye of Zhaitian and get a daily rare from all of them? which can you kill and still get another daily rare from which others?

It’s one bonus chest, per day, per account, per event. So you can get a guaranteed rare (or exotic) from each meta-event per day.

I would like to see dyes that add metallic colors to the game (shiny, metal). Colors like silver (nice reflective chrome-look), gold, copper, bronze. You can even make shiny base colors like Metallic Abyss (shiny solid black) or Metallic Celestial (shiny solid white) or even a whole series of Metallic Midnight colors (deep reds, blues, greens, and so forth) for those metallic heavy armor looks.

This would utterly defeat the purpose of “The Juggernaut”, since what you described is the effect it applies.

So while yes, dyes with crazy effects or finishes would be cool, they shouldn’t implement them at the expense of legendary weapons.

T6 scales have shot way up in price since April 1st for whatever reason. If you’re planning to buy them with gold, it might be a good idea to wait on those.

Go to gw2spidy and check out the stock amount. That is why it went up. With everyone telling someone to just go farm CoF and buy the materials, its forcing the prices to go up since the supply isnt being returned which forces the player to farm CoF more to be able to afford more of the mats. Also take into account SAB is taking people’s time out from farming Orr.

Problem is, it’s more efficient to farm gold for these materials, rather than farm the materials themselves.

The Ranger - The Master Class

in Ranger

Posted by: jwaz.1908

jwaz.1908

We can get quickness without using an elite. One every 48s-60s and another 15s-20s depending on traiting.

Without any traiting we can get chill from- Axe mainhand, pets, traps and give AoE frost aura.

We can dish out perma(even AoE) cripple with pets, elite, trap, weapon skills.

We can do almost every elementalist field, and make them last as long/longer. 5s/8s Fire Field, 5s Frost Field, 15s Water Field.

Also one condition removed per 3 seconds, plus insta for yourself on cast. Healing Spring is a beast, and if someone has put an AoE on it, just roll or run through it. =D

Sure, we have the best cripples and chills, but those are only important in certain PvE situations, unlike many of the very powerful utilities (feedback, wall of reflection, etc…) that are extremely powerful in a variety of situations.

What I’m trying to get at, is that rangers are worse for any dungeon role, whether it be tank, support, glass cannon, or a mixture of two. If not purely worse, then it is at least a lot, lot harder for rangers to successfully fill one of those roles.

Actually I recently found out they can be amazingly supportive, however that is if you trait for full BM and for full healing gear/traits/utilities. I recently did some pvp and fought a ranger + elementalist duo, where the ranger sent their pet in for damage (luckly they sucked at micromanaging it) however their supportive skills for the elementalist + the elementalist healing support made them immortal, 3 vs 2 couldn’t get it done because they kept on healing each other so much. I think I saw this build somewhere… apothecary gear + runes of dwanya? Anyways just putting it out there.

The situation you’ve described is purely sPvP, and I’m strictly referring to organized PvE circumstances.

Who knows, maybe I’ve just been playing the class entirely wrong for quite awhile, this is just what I’ve discovered and experienced.

The Ranger - The Master Class

in Ranger

Posted by: jwaz.1908

jwaz.1908

I’m sorry, but I have to disagree with you, pets aren’t bugged, the system is just clunky and not easy to manage until you get a hang of it. It does need to be improved. Rangers aren’t for Zerging, if you want to be a part of it, stand right at the back and rain arrows or Rapid Fire from as far as you can.

Dungeons and Fractals-
-Ranger can survive most things besides Agony, lets me keep the rest of my party from wiping. Jump over to my downed Team Mate, pop Healing Spring and revive them with QZ and quickness bursts from my pet switch.
-Traps bring brilliant control to the group, Cripple and Chill are invaluable controls and so is Muddy Terrain. We can perma chill/cripple mobs and bosses combining pets.
-We have Search and Rescue and Guard which are highly under rated skills in group game play.
-We can provide a Water Field, Fire Fields and an Ice Field.
-Healing Spring is probably the best heal skill available for party play, Regen, field and condition removal. It can also be traited to provide Vigor on each pulse.

The reason a ranger is not wanted- they are hard to master unlike the other classes primarily because of us being very trait and pet reliant. Which means not many can bring much to the table and have made a bad reputation for the class. Hence, threads like these are made. Which gives ideas to help players get a hang of the class, learn what’s what. Serbant has made a brilliant thread to compare rangers to other classes.

Rangers are the hardest class to master but have potential to be the master class.

Yes, we can quickness res, but mesmers can quickness res better. Yes, we can chill mobs, but elementalists can chill better. Yes we can create water, fire, and ice fields, but again, elementalists can do all these things better. Yes we can apply aoe regeneration and condition removal, but yet again elementalists can do these better.

The only thing that rangers do better than other classes is evade and survive, even if played well, rangers do not offer many of the extremely powerful team-based utilities such as reflection, deflection, aoe blinds, etc…

Basically, we don’t tank better than any other class, we don’t support the group better than any class, we don’t glass cannon than any other class.

Ah, I see, unlimited stack. Why should they redesign how stacks work and add a whole new category to an area that is not simple to check on the go, when they could more effectively just add a row to the currency section of the inventory, which is already “infinite capacity,” for dungeon tokens and fractal tokens and WvW tokens and all the currencies we already have that aren’t represented in our currency section.

Woo, and that was all one breath too.

This doesn’t work since they added Jeweler recipes that use dungeon tokens to craft rings and accessories, but I agree that they shouldn’t/wouldn’t change their stack size.

Instead, they could make multiple rows for each dungeon token, as in 10 slots for 10 stacks of 250 per dungeon, or something along those lines.

Sun Spirit - Explosion hits enemies nearby for fire damage and inflicts burn. Burn Field.
Frost Spirit - Explosion hits enemies nearby for frost damage and inflicts chill. Chill Field.
Stone Spirit - Explosion hits enemies nearby for earth damage and inflicts cripple and bleed. Dunno what kind of field we could do for this one if any.
Storm Spirit - Explosion hits enemies nearby for lightning damage and inflicts vulnerability and daze. Lightning Field
Spirit of Nature - Explosion heals allies nearby (dependent on Ranger’s Healing Power) and gives Vigor and Regen to allies. Water Field

There is a trait that already (kinda) does this, making a spirit activate its ability on death.

Honestly I was completely shocked when I found out spirits had health (or can be killed), they’re spirits, non-terrestrial beings that should be immune to damage. Seeing that spirits are a ranger’s only support option, they really need a major overhaul, either buffing their abilities to actually being significant, or making them immune to damage (or just AOE).
