“it doesn’t make you spend hours preparing to have fun, rather than having fun”
Guild missions say otherwise.
Well, they are going to convert your previous achievement points into Laurels at some stage, so I think its not as bad as you describe. I think you’d be able to get on character fully specced at least.
For me though, I’ve been collecting ascended gear, and I’ll be buying a new bank slot to house this new amulet collection lol.
Those new infusions will be a problem. It might end up forcing me to stick to one build which will be a pain. My 3 characters each have 3-4 viable builds with exotic gear
Get out of here. Don’t touch my Shrouded Removal
I agree with what you said about crit chance, the rest of what you said has to be tested and retested… not in just a 1 vs mob scenario, but in real scenarios in dungeons… how does this effect the party’s effectiveness overall and such. Because vulnerability benefits the entire team, not just yourself… by acting as a debuffer, and 25% extra damage not just for yourself but for 4 other people sounds way better in my opinion.
If you’re the only one stacking vulnerability, perhaps. but I usually have atleast 1 other person stacking some sort of vulnerability (usually a GS warrior, which has vulnerability on autoattack and whatever that trait it called for vuln on crit, as well as ‘on my mark’), which when combined with your build would be excessive vulnerability on anything except bosses (who with their 1/2 vulnerability duration makes it pretty poor in it’s own right).
But anyway, just looking at simple numbers, with 55% crit chance, you have 16.5% chance per hit, with a second/ 2 second CD to proc 1 stack of vulnerability. With axe 1 you do about 2 hits per second, maybe a little faster, but assuming 2 hits per second that gives you a 30.3% chance to proc every second. (If I had a calculator on me I could then go on to figure out how much dps overall it gives to your team, but the ICD makes it a little hard to do in my head.) Against a boss that vulnerability will last 6.5 seconds (you only have duration bonus from traits, right?) which means you’ll be lucky to get 2 stacks of vulnerability up at a time with this sigil (if you have a calculator you can figure out exactly). Assuming all your party has the same dps as you, that one stack of vulnerability is 5% extra damage, or 1% extra damage across the party, which is the same as a sigil of force, which has no chance involved.
Not really sure what I’m trying to prove here though, either way It’s not a huge difference, but it’s interesting to look at, atleast.
What you just said puzzled my mind this early in the morning…
I did however successfully made the burstiest necromancer possible, me thinks… does well at single target ranged, does even better in melee range (melee-ers are suppose to hit harder, i explained in the video why) with dagger 1 spam. Not that suqishy… and has the highest possible single target DPS for the necromancer, about 5k at single target range and about 8k-9k up close single target… not bad all things considered…
This goes up against it’s opposite the conditionamancer who can’t put out more then 3500 on a single target no matter what, and has about 10-15k damage AoE on 5 targets… I see a fine balance here, i like it… i agree with it, and i tried to exemplify both extremities of it… as well as the hybrid.
Well hey now, burst necro’s have been around for a while now. Its nice of you to make a tutorial video and all, but there are contradictions.
A few posts above you claim that you are making a burst demonstration. Its not the burstiest necro around, its close; but if it was a straight up damage race you’re probably not use Spectral wall and Spectral grasp. These simply offer very little in the way of burst. You’d also be demonstrating it with a dagger (as you have pointed out). From what I see, you’ve made a viable, fun build that uses the axe, and these are rare really.
Then you tell War Mourner that you prefer sigil of frailty over sigil of force, because it helps out better in a team environment. This is a contradiction to your entire build because its support capabilities are minimal outside of piling vulnerability on a single target. Other enemies caught in the wall or well will have their vulnerability run out while the targeted enemy is getting destroyed.
There’s no way around it, sigil of frailty sucks. ¯\(°_o)/¯

Would you say ‘I hate Chinese people, they’re all liars’? No, that would be racism, and in many social circles the repercussions would be undesirable.
I am confused, are you racist because they are Chinese or because they are liars and happen to be Chinese? If you were racists you would hate their race and think yours is superior if even they all told the truth. Please think before you talk about racism, when you don’t know the definition of a word don’t use it.
I know the definition of the word. Stereotyping a race of people because of past experiences with an individual from that group is also racism. Spare me your patronizing. The analogy is well suited to describe the forum warriors here, who would hate a complete server, because of their individual experiences with several.
I find it hilarious people can even ‘hate’ another server. The blatant generalizations and accusations are a showing of the level of absurdity some people have reached. Would you say ‘I hate Chinese people, they’re all liars’? No, that would be racism, and in many social circles the repercussions would be undesirable. So I suppose if Arenanet has no monitoring for this behavior, the gloves are off? It’s essentially the same thing, hatred towards a specified group because of whatever reason you deem reasonable.
Score Update: JQ is catching up. SoS is fighting back hard! This week is gonna be a close one!

Thank you kind sir

I thought people skip him because of no chest, no silver.
I think this may have been brought up before, but I think some warrior skill-sets are incredibly similar, particularly the main hand skills.
Most weapons comprise of a distance closer, a ranged attack, and a cripple.
Now I realize these are all very necessary elements in playing a warrior, and the traits do change the end effect of it all slightly, but only very slightly. Think we can do with a change here?
Examples: coming soon!
Having perma fury (not hard) is essentially having 420 precision at lvl 80. 5 signets is 290 with the trait and signet of fury.
Signet of might is 90 passive. FGJ is 105 permanently. To everyone.
Guesting. Might be a shock to you.
If its a PVE build for killshot, I suggest not caring about precision at all and just put a sigil of intellect on your rifle.
Well, I guess the problem I solved was more to do with the horizontal aspect of the camera jolting. Maybe its a bit different for vertical
do you have another sigil that gathers charges? They might be conflicting. I dont have a bloodseeker but I’ve summoned a fleshreaver before via the sigil. Its actually really crap.
Ok, so for a while I’ve had issues with the camera jolting back and forth when I walk up narrow stairwells (halloween mystic forge) or vineyard fields or even the rows of chairs in the BLTC in LA.
I’ve put out my concerns in the technical support subforum, but they were no help, and never once replied. (my initial post was forwarded there). So I read up on what potential issues may be. It wasn’t resolution, I play at a fairly common 1680 × 1080. Now, apparently the FoV changes made last year fixed some camera smoothing issue but I know a fair few people who still have this problem, me included.
The issue actually stems from camera offset. You know, that one option in the F11 options interface? You can tilt your camera slightly to the left or right such that when completely zoomed in you have this, for lack of a better term – gears of war over the shoulder perspective.
So I tried readjusting the camera to the center yesterday. Its all good now. I think the old FoV’s camera smoothing moves a bit slower, so I still prefer that one, but it doesn’t jolt back and forth anymore.
Ok, so maybe no one cares, but if Arenanet added the option of offsetting the camera, I’d also like them to fix it so that its actually playable. So please, for those of us who like playing with the camera offset – please fix the camera smoothing for those views too.
AC is a great dungeon for money. With a simple omnomberry bar you easily pull 1gold per path, provided you kill Kholer.
Everytime a thief uses steal, he will steal all of the enemy player’s money, which will be transferred into his inventory
I can roll with that! Then I could chase off entire enemy zergs and watch them scatter like rats when the see me coming!
Granted. But now, every time a thief is immobilized he is put in jail (map release in march 2013), and will be tried in court. If guilty, all money is returned and the thief is kept in jail indefinitely for as long as the GW2 servers are up.
Before Nov 15, there were no ascended items. Ergo, the best items were of the exotic tier. Exotic gear can be traded on the TP. TP uses coin as currency. Coin can be bought through gems. Gems can be bought via real money.
.’. Before Nov 15, it was possible to buy the best gear with real money.
Thanks for posting this. It’s not how I’d prefer to play a Thief, but healing Venom is a very supportive way to play and doesn’t have the messy aggro issues that trying to stealth people to apply regen via traits does. I haven’t tried extreme healing gear with it, yet, but the build is pretty good even with modest +healing.
Hey, thanks! I’ll be posting up some solid numbers later just so that it may be more lucrative to other people
The day players can pay to have the best stats is the day I uninstall.
This was the case until nov15.
captain skyfarer regularly consumes Norn Tonics. He told me about it the other day.
Thank you Ari, good answer. But i just got my answer from Anet, was worth a try to ticket it.
what did they say?
I’d love this to be spectral AND corruption
What exactly did you kill? Some mobs don’t seem to trigger rally when I’m downed. e.g. the ghost devourers the cliffside boss summons
I hate that the skill is so good you’re pretty much forced to take it.
I’m already there. Got my last toon to complete all the pve maps last week, but leveled them to 80 some time ago. So I’m really looking forward to some new content.
can you show me your thief’s armor?
Substance abuse iirc isn’t legalized at any age (in most countries), whether you are 10 or 90. Responsible consumption of alcohol is different.
Not sure if serious or just trolling. So, it is illegal if we fed our character Omnomberry Pie to increase Power, Magic Find and Exp. Per Kill? Because that’s using substance to enhance our character.
Right, so ANet will rename Elonian Wine to Elonian Sparkling Water.
I believe a healthy diet (and exercise) would also increase your physical ability. Doesn’t need to be a ‘substance’. If I was famished and I ate meat pie, my power would probably increase too.
Why is everyone insinuating that I’m trolling? You’re not allowed to troll on these forums.
Because there are other higher priority issues that needs more attention rather than Bakestone Caverns bro.
If that’s the case, everyone is trolling. Necromancers think they need more attention than engineers, who clearly think vice versa, etc.

Sure, while they’re at it why don’t they remove the alcohol which you’re encouraged to have your character guzzle and get drunk (Even though the intoxication effect is either broken or not in the game yet/never will be).
Also, kids shouldn’t be playing this game. Notice the ESRB rating? Yeah? T? Mmmhmm, for teens and older. Guess what? Most teens already know the terms, so there’s no point in censoring it.
Substance abuse iirc isn’t legalized at any age (in most countries), whether you are 10 or 90. Responsible consumption of alcohol is different.
However not illegal in a fantasy setting.
I’m highlighting the point that the ESRB has little to do with the topic in question here. If people can take offense to ‘crown’ then Bakestone can equally be offensive.
ESRB has everything to do with it. A Teen rating guarantees that there will be subjects that are inappropriate for children under the age of 13, who we refer to as kids. A teen rating means that things like this are bound to pop up and you were technically warned; regardless of these things being offensive or not.
Since a proper warning was given out, I see no reason for these things to be changed.
(Edit) Used the wrong word.
Well that’s irresponsible. So they’ll shield you from ‘bad words’ but you’re on your own for substance abuse?
I don’t see any shielding, I see warning labels.
The censoring would be the shielding is what I’m saying.
NPCharacters cuss, there’s no censoring of the game there.
Only censoring there is is of the chat system, which can be turned off. ESRB does not rate online interactions either.
Try naming your character with any variation of flatulence and you will most certainly be asked to rename your character.

While we are at it we need to change the name for all cooking..
Getting baked, baking..
This should now be named ‘oven cooked’‘Cooked’ of getting off your ‘chops’ now needs to be changed
so it should be called searing meat with bone…
Meat & Bone means something else now so that should be changed too.
.. Stupid post.
That is properly contexualized. We have bake AND stone together.

Oh so you can consume alcohol responsibly but not other substances the government has told you are bad? You’re either trolling (which I seriously hope) or a complete kittening idiot.
Substance abuse isn’t as white and black as you may think. Simply the mentioning of drugs or terminology associated with can also cause someone who has abused drugs before to relapse.
Irrelevant. My point is your use of the phrase “responsible consumption” with regards to alcohol but seeming to think that illicit drugs can only be abused. Anyway, it’s obvious you have no real life experience of this topic so we’re done.
Consumption of any illicit drug outside of correctly prescribed medical recovery is never responsible. Don’t do drugs.

Substance abuse isn’t as white and black as you may think. Simply the mentioning of drugs or terminology associated with can also cause someone who has abused drugs before to relapse. Obviously the irresponsible consumption of alcohol is undesirable and is noted in-game, as highlighted by the Intoxicated status effect in game.

Looking WAY to far into things sadly!! Could it not be a stone you cook with? Why is it related to drugs right off the get go? Seems you turned something positive into a negative? Why?
Hey, I’m just watching out for the minors. Besides, Arenanet renamed Crown to Laurel, not sure how many people would have picked up on that.
True, but the actual bakestone is actually used for baking in stone stoves.
I think those need to be renamed too.
To be fair, it IS a really strong trait (or would be if anything on the axe did damage, except #2. Honestly, auto attack is useless on it). A permanent 20% damage increase, all the time, on top of any Might you have, and Vulnerability the enemy has.
That applies for all direct damage no?
I’d still like the 10 gold, tbh.
I have read everything you wrote. I’d like my 10 gold now please.
It’s been 1 week since I made this post, is there anything that can be done?
Are we getting more camera options in january?
Anything as long as they change the animation. I hate the current one. It looks like a bunch of condoms got caught in a gale.
never gonna run around and desert you…
You could say the broom serves the FUNCTION of making your character’s mouth go wide open.
You do raise a good point about using orbs though. Currently Rune of the Ranger gives:
165 Precision, +8% Crit damage, +5% damageAgainst Beryl (valkyrie) orbs:
120 Power, +12% Crit damage, 84 vitality. If you’re willing to take Precision from Runes, why not Orbs? You could run Ruby Orbs for the same Power bonus, same +12% Critical Damage, but instead of the Valkyrie, take Precision from Ruby Orbs.
Between the Rune of the Ranger and Beryl Orb, the rune will have better damage, as you’re giving up ~8% Critical Chance while gaining 4% Critical Damage. With the runes, full exotic gear, and your traits, you’re looking at 100% critical damage bonus, for a total of 250%. Thus, for each 1% of critical chance you gain, you will see an increase of 1.5% in average damage. So, that 8% critical chance will result in an average damage increase of 12%. The 120 Power is going to be almost a 1:1 change, although the rune is dependent upon on having a banner out.
Between the Rune of the Ranger and Ruby Orb… the delta is probably in the noise (the cost certainly isn’t!!!!). This is, again, because the 5% damage and 120 Power bonuses are roughly equal with your setup. The Critical Chance delta is ~4% worth ~6% in average damage increase versus the Critical Damage delta of 4%.
I appreciate you solving all the maths for me, because my maths is terribad!. I’m not adverse to using ruby orbs, but I generally don’t find orbs as fun as runes. I am rethinking Rune of the Ranger atm. When I make a build I tend to start from the extremities to see how far I can take the concept before using elements from the norm, in this case, ruby orbs. It’s certainly not out of the question either.
Thanks for your advice!
.
Heightened Focus gives me 12% at max adrenaline.I believe its 9% at max
Indeed! What was I thinking lol. However, I still prefer 30% crit damage over 5% crit chance. I think I don’t need to use adrenal shouts either.
Except they are Town Clothing only and only last for a limited time. You can only use the Witch’s Broom with Town Clothing equipped. And it only lasts for a few minutes before it vanishes and you have to recast it.
Not the same as a mount.
A mount in any game you can use at any time, regardless of your outfit. And they don’t have a time limit on them on how long you can ride it before it vanishes. They last until you unsummon them.
That’s your definition of a mount, and that’s fine. It doesn’t make TC’s definition of a mount any less valid though. I agree with OP. Cosmetic mounts all the way.
