I tend to float my group or groups around Invalid or Yumm on Maguuma. Whenever we hit that threshold of population on a map they’ll tackle the back-end parallel to the offense.

Demoting Commanders

You can ignore a commander icon, but you can’t ignore the lack of numbers on what you’ll be working on since the populace will be with that icon. I can see a bit of leadership to trust in leadership taking shape slowly but I still think that current commanders should get a full refund and raid squads with the squad mechanics should be instituted.

Thief Lord Build (PvE) Idea...

I’ve tried different combinations. I’m currently using my usual S/D template with a few alterations with Ambush. Thieves guild is nice, but as someone mentioned the cooldown just doesn’t warrant taking it over Dagger Storm….still, I use Thieves Guild often regardless but I really can’t recommend it over the other. Those thieves disintegrate fast in aoe so I think that Ambush coupled with my S/D field control works best for myself at least.

It’s difficult to even consider putting Ambush on your bar if you WvWvW often, but after using it for awhile now and assisting my thief with crowd control and lockdowns on top of my own damage while it assists me with skills and combos I don’t have on my bar has opened up some fun sequences. I’ve ganked some siege here and there with Ambush and Thieves Guild as a quick force multiplier though any heavy aoe defense there and I’m toast.

My mind must play tricks on me with this one, I’m sure I don’t notice any evasive effect. I’ve gone to only using it cruelly on a lone downed player or just throwing it into thin air to reset Steal. It certainly doesn’t pick up on your weapon damage so it does little for me damage wise.

I’ve begun using SoM with S/D recently and trying out Assassins Reward. A.R probably fits snugly beside SoM but I might switch to Pain Response often as well, I’ve used that before and the regen is decent coupled with shaking three conditions was pretty huge for me. I understand it’s 45 second cooldown and the trigger is out of your hands but I used Hide in the Shadows with P.R with HitS for my controlled heal+condition removal while P.R seems to be right about where I need it at that 75% health trigger.

Perma-Stealth During Combat Thief Glitching

So a thief like myself who rarely stealths and never uses back stab will have to listen to the crying until the entire class is nerfed to nothing? Even if I relied on stealth for my entire sequence, I wouldn’t care much about the concerns of other classes until their particle effects are put on a scale.

Do you use daggerstorm spec?

Thiefs Guild to help tackle artillery and hopefully pop some fields and whatever else for my team while I’m locking people down.

What do you do to defend against a zerg?

I’ve actually been in a 30 vs. 5 defense scenario before (actually, it was closer to 5 vs. 60). The way we did it was have 2 catapults set up. One behind the gate to shell those trying to break it down, and one on top of the supply shed, strategically placed to hit the areas just outside the front walls.

I had rangers on the ramparts calling out my shots as I shelled the zerg outside. Eventually, they broke off because they were taking too much damage.

2 catapults in the right places can easily defend any tower in the game.

If they build their ranged artillery close enough, but chances are, they are at max range, which will be just out of range of our catapult a foot or two behind the wall. It’s still a good idea, at the least you can thin out the door knockers enough to crowd control break fast to the cat shooters which will most likely be around three to four people and dps burn what you can.

I consider people as loot mostly. If you spike someone down and they have to res, they can just run directly via waypoint short cut to the current most important hot spot anyway. If they died right here, chances are they got themselves killed by creeping across the road without looking both ways in the first place and they’ll just be right there to loot again if their buddies revive them.

MG doesn’t even seem to be represented other than a good push a few hours ago then they lost everything again.

We didn’t have many but it was a good surge of energy. At some point it must of been bed time or something because like 90% of our people suddenly went poof like mesmer clones and we were back to our starting waypoint again.

A few decent sized, active, guilds could really turn Maguuma around. We have awesome commanders and some proficient people backing them up, but we have almost no back end to manage what we have. I know everyone want’s to get into the action right away so they follow the zerg, but I roll in karma and badges on smaller scale fights holding and waiting out the attack/repel events. A solid guild in every structure would give our commanders the buffer they need to make some ground.

The other thing that we need heavily on our server are people to drill in tactics for our puggers, strategy alone won’t get us there. A few reminders occasionally about capitalizing fully on combo fields instead of spreading around in a circle, aoe’ing the gear icons on top of walls when attacking, and not being lured away by a couple of badguys helps in the long run.

FA especially seems to understand this on a broader scale and though I think we can match them toe to toe with our dedicated players, we don’t have an counter to enough of their attacks currently.
