I am with Zypher on this one and I am probably in for the same amount.
If you could log in invisibly then how would the 100% rep guilds be able to enforce their rules?
14 chars
12 lvl 80’s
12 map completions
No to any more instanced content please. Instances lead to elitism and exclusion, all you have to do is look at the posts about dungeon groups demanding x build or y class only. The people who casually play this game should not be excluded from an organized festival event just because there “may” be a person or handful of people who are going to intentionally grief their event.
I enjoy logging in and finding an organized event, pavilion, Teq, etc. occurring that I can join and would be greatly saddened if all the organized events ended up being just instanced “raids”. Not all of us play every day or have a stable enough schedule to plan for a time to join a scheduled instanced raid.
Personally I have not seen any intentional griefers in the pavilion up to this point.
I support the idea of a utility belt item for consumables.
People are crying about this, really? Good lord. They are trying to reward skilled players whilst promoting pvp. Oh noes!
This playerbase needs to get a grip and drop the insane levels of self entitlement.
If anything they should introduce a great deal more content like this, skill based only, items/rewards that should only be available by winning spvp tournaments or soloing dungeons etc.
So true!!!
This sounds like the guys who stand around town on their rare mount wearing tier 25 armor trying to impress someone over their “skill” at a video game. Just hoping for whispers from people who want to know how they got their “cool” stuff to justify their own self-importance.
Real money -> Gems -> Gold conversion has been part of the game from day 1, didn’t you know?
But did you know that the focus on gemstore is actually increasing so much?
But did you know that their jobs depend on people spending in the gem store and not just providing free content?
I love the LS.
I love the PvE, especially after mega server.
I love doing world completions.
I really love that Lion’s Arch was destroyed so that people are actually seen in other capital cities.
I love WvW.
There are a few things I dislike, like shared WXP, now every character has mastery on some type of siege.
I dislike the difficulty in doing large guild missions/events with the mega server, this is something I hope will be addressed.
This idea would be like sharing WXP across your account. Then I wouldn’t even have to play my ele in WvW to earn arrow cart mastery…
As long as dueling is sheltered off in its own area I am all for it. I would rather not see it, be bothered by it i.e. the spam invites, or hear about it i.e. zone messages saying “Superleetdude just beat GunnaPwnYou in a duel”.
I play PvE to just relax, and yes this kind of stuff would bother me.
I really think we needed more dailies before this change, I would rather have the option of continuing to do dailies after I finished the first five to get a few more acheivement points. Now I have to go PvP or WvW to get any more.
It was kind of relaxing knowing that once in a while I could spend all my playtime in an evening just doing mindless PvE dailies.
I would enjoy having fishing as a gethering activity, to those who do not want it just dont do it.
And, if you’re concerned about where Anet uses there resources, they can stop wasting time and resources on the sPvP as I will never use that anyway.
Placing the tools in my inventory before talking to him worked, thank you all for the help
I have heard that there is/was an NPC that will convert your soulbound gathering tools to account bound. Does this NPC still exist and if so where would he be located. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I play in a rather large guild and we did a guild event last night, about 50 people, that did run into some hang ups doing guild missions, people in the incorrect overflows and other guilds in the middle of guild missions. However, doing large scale guild events are the extreme minority of my play time and those “hiccups” are well worth it when the majority of my playtime I actually have people to do the random PvE events I encounter when just working on world completion.
People can still farm money, I think there should be no “best” way to earn money, once you have tht then a lot of people will gravitate towards the “best” way. With no best way you can now “play how you want” without being pigeon-holed into constant dungeon runs, champ farms etc.
I don’t think they nerfed anything, as such, they just made some activites as profitable as the rest.
Cool system, works great when i checked out fields of ruin. Good to not be the only person running about.
Totally agree with you, was fun again in Timberline Falls last night.
TL;DR I want an item that not everybody can get so that I can stand around in town with it equipped and wait for whispers to ask me how I got it so that I can feel superior to others.
There is no other reason to ask for what you are asking for.
There exists a group of players, like myself, who really enjoy logging in and just having fun. We do not min/max, we do not care about consumables, and we do not necessarily equate defeating an encounter as the only way to have fun. If I have fun during the encounter and it fails, I still have fun that is great, fun is the only reason I log in.
That said, during my “online time”, I do not want to waste it researching encounters and checking other people’s builds, etc. I just want to play. All I hear in this conversation is, “Anet please do your best to force others to play the way that I want them to instead of letting them have fun their own way.”
The leechers and such will always be there and if they want to play that way so be it. I have not played an MMO where somebody did not figure out ways to leech. I do not care what reward he gets for doing whatever he is doing. I just worry about myself.
I dont really see this as an issue, other games have had no penalty for off hours coverage and I did not see floods of posts about unfairness. There were a few complaining about alarm clock raids but I don’t remember any about unfair coverage.
I don’t see anywhere that says ESO is going to shut off WvW during your off hours so what difference is it going to make to go there instead? I guess people could then flood their boards about how “unfair” it is.
I would like a refund of all the karma/gold I spent on exotic armor that is now RUINED because I was unaware that you were going to introduce ascended armor, which became BiS. All the karma armor just sits in my bank gathering dust.
That is by choice. It is not required for you to buy the new one. There are other means of getting the sprockets. The old pick works fine as it was advertised originally.
The previous pick was advertised as “The last pick you’ll ever buy”, so best in slot for all eternity. And it was priced accordingly, as for a full set of them you’d almost pay the price of a full game.
Now there is another pick that is better. Thus my original purchase is wasted and worthless as it is no longer best in slot.
Seriously? That is how you read it? They never said nor indicated nor implied that the molten pick was BiS forever. Since buying a molten pick for every character on my account I have never bought another pick from an in-game vendor, thus exactly as advertised.
If they were to add this then a gem refund should be made available to all accounts that have purchased a set for all their characters so that they do not have to transfer the tools back and forth.
Anything that helps me escape reality for a while. Some days it is as simple as running around doing hearts or just harvesting.
I am still waiting to get my hint done for opening an acheivement chest. Playing since the headstart.
I coulda done without the “It is disappointing” though. Don’t pay money to impress you, ArenaNet. And considerin that I’ve been a bit disappointed about design decisions in this game too, that really puts us in an awkward place where apparently we’re just standin around bein disappointed with each other.
The community reps have a very odd “familial” tone they use that I’ve noticed. I think its meant to be taken as a “we’ve given you xyz chances at this” but it comes off like some sort of mother-figure scolding you for a getting a C.
What’s disappointing is the treatment of this community since day 1.
To expand upon this: Are we even supposed to be competing in WvW or is it kum ba ya time? Playing DAoC, everyone used the VN boards. I would see things every day that would make a sailor blush. No one even thought twice about it, we just ignored foul mouthed trolls and moved on.
VN boards best MMO community all time.
Correct, while playing DaoC we posted on the VN, not on any official forums. This only supports what Anet is doing.
The problem with that logic is that the only reason the VN boards were popular was because there were no official forums. If that had been their stance on WvW discussion from the beginning, fine, great, it worked wonderful for DAoC. But they waited a year and a half, on top of telling us they were “disappointed”. It just reeks of a PR disaster, and I think Anet is a better company than that honestly. Sure we complain about fixes and updates, but at the end of the day, Anet is still one of the better companies out there to manage a game imo.
So Anet makes a mistake by having a WvW matchups subthread, admits that it is a mistake, they should still not attempt to correct it because “the horse is already out of the barn”?
…what? They didn’t admit to anything. All they did was slap the player’s hands and say no pudding for you! And I don’t think having official forums is a mistake. It’s a boon to developers because they get hands on with player feedback rather than searching through 20 pages of some random board.
They did not say they were taking away the official WvW forums it said the WvW match-up sub forums. They are not getting player feedback from those forums as they are pretty much filled with flames and chest thumping and I would hardly call the WvW discussion forum a “random board”.

While the thread is amusing maybe it is time to stop feeding the troll. With all the explanations and help offered in this thread there is no way he cannot understand what is going on in WvW.
Our usual thought when a legendary is spotted is, “Hey, he thinks he is better than us, get him.”
More than a monthly sub here.
Gems to gold
Never wasted time farming or TPing.
Really? We need another thread about how people need an item that they can equip and stand around Akitten LA so that the “common” people can stand around in awe of their greatness?
30 people pressing 1 is a ridiculous amount of dps incoming. I really don’t care if I never get through to you “large scale is better because you win the meta better” this meta still sucks. Just like WAR gw2 will fail because it’s capture point objective based “pvp” where people care more about the points than they do about learning to beat better players. Sorry, will never sell copies after a year or two. It’s Been proven by war hammer online rift ect.
Tell us about how “war is large scale in real life and therefore should allow me to feel like general Patton when I log on” and always get stuck following some blue Dorito who may have less experience than you do, but got to the Hundy gold mark b4 you did.
In the end, you’ll never compete with good mmo pvpers. And the games like unchained that will require personal skill to develop in order to be successful in game, you will all cry and leave because it isn’t comfort land like Anet has so provided the masses to sell the most copies. Hellooooop wow 2.
Warhammer Online died almost immediately after the patch that was intended to break up the zergs. By allowing small groups to easily take any objective the zerg was forced to leave individual groups at each to hope to defend long enough to flip the zone. So by having your zerg broken up into small man groups at each objective the enemy just rolled in with multiple groups to take one objective and cause the zone timer to reset once they take the objective back.
After that patch some of the larger guilds, mine included, left Warhammer. Breaking up the zergs is what killed Warhammer.
Well nvm talking with “oh i got downed” babbies. Hf getting downed in future. As for thief..i insta gibbed 9 ppl as war letting 2 other ppl stomping them into ground.
You sound so beast and pro.
I agree, I wish I was filled with half as much bad kittenery as this guy.
Gee…I’m so glad that Anet took an amazing franchise and turned it into a money grubbing RNG fest. Remember when cool items used to cost time, and not money… Glad to see all the people running around with these weapons and know that they spent no effort to get them at all, but instead just opened their wallet.
You answered your own post, you can spend “time” for the items. Go farm gold, turn the gold to gems, then obtain your goal. Now you have spent time to obtain your items and you can feel good about yourself that you know you didn’t spend any money to get the item.
Obligatory: They are a business and are in business to make money, not provide you with free entertainment, your first 60 dollar purchase notwithstanding.
I do not display any title, they definitely do not represent any sort of prestige, all they appear to be for is to “show-off” so you can make yourself feel better than others who may not have the title. Or it may just be that they also do not display the title that you also have because they do not want to show-off.
P.S. Anet please give us the ability to turn off these ridiculous titles. Thanks.
I don’t know, maybe a brown dye?
I bought it with cash.
Hurry up and release the infinite sickle and infinite axe so I can buy whose with cash too!
Agreed, $160 more from me once they get released for my 10 chars.
Title should read “Some Players Want Duels”, dueling is just a horrible addition to any MMO, it serves no purpose AT ALL. Don’t start reciting how you are “testing” builds and kitten. People are looking for more ways to grief others.
Even if there is an option to auto decline duels you will still have the kittenbags who run around hoping to find someone who is unaware of the option and will try to get them to “accidentally” hit accept just to grief people.
People really don’t have the patience to actually just wait for the bounty/dungeon/event for which they have chosen to wait?
Not sure on the total, but the game price of $60, enough gems to cover all bank slots, 6 char slots, extra bag slots on the characters, and I continually buy gems to exchange for gold.
Big plus one to this suggestion!
5) “do it well or don’t do it at all”
This they have done. The statement “When it is ready” was thrown at us for months before launch and I again state that this game had the smoothest (though not perfect) launch of a game I have even encountered in my 20 years of playing MMOs.
I’ll agree with you that the game’s launch was a smooth one. The game, the engine, the world was all very polished at release. There were bugs, as to be expected. But seven months in, the honeymoon period is now coming to a close. That some of the bugs present at release still persist is starting to be an issue. It’s past time to clean up things like nonfunctional traits.
I have all classes at 80, except my necro who is at 70 yet, and played since launch and I cannot name even “one” bug that has persisted and became an issue. I definitely do not min/max but not one of my characters has any problems at all completing any of the content in the game.
I guess that, even if there are abilities or traits that are not functioning the way they should, the game is playable without those traits/abilities and therefore not really an issue that they do not work as intended. While they should be fixed, still not an “issue”.
Lol, how come every time someone claims they are going to quit, the game is “dying”?
At least the rest of your group/zerg should make up for the 50% haste reduction. At least they are not balancing for solo play.
The way the game is set up I do not think I would pay a monthly fee, that being said, I do spend more than an average MMO monthly fee in the cash shop anyway, mostly just to convert it into gold.
Fortunately, if immersion is running CoF path1 all day, you can still run this dungeon as many times in a row as you want. I have not yet been locked out of the dungeon just because I ran it over and over.
This sounds more like"I can’t finish the WvW completion in one sitting so it is unfair". I got the WvW completion, yes it took time. I got most of the points as the server cycled through the different colors. Each time we had a different colored map I could go grab the points I did not yet have. No, nobody controls what color you currently have, had the same color for like 5 weeks for me.
