Ok thats good to hear. This will definitely save me some silver.

As Plains of Ashford is directly outside the Black Citadel yes you can enter an AC run that’s “in progress” without paying anything!

You need to go to Plains of Ashford (the zone AC is in) and you will get the pop up to enter the dungeon you don’t have to actually enter the dungeon, just being anywhere in the zone is enough

Have not hit an overflow LA for quite some time now, last one was when the final Tixx stop took place.

It depends on server I guess, I’m always on an overflow in Gandara even very early in the morning or late in the evening.

Every Very High – Full world I’ve tried have been near enough dead.

Stormbluff Isle
Sanctum of Rall
Blackgate
Crystal Desert
Gandara
Desolation

List goes on, so I can imagine what other worlds are like.

Tarnished Coast is apparently busy, but that’s role players.

Won’t last as long as GW1 did.

Sorry to burst your bubble but Gandara is doing fine. Even the 1-15 zones are full of people, tried Caledon Forest recently? Queensdale? Maybe Wayfarer Foothills? All of them full. Also, higher level zones are as busy as ever, from zones like Dredgehaunt Cliffs, Iron Marches and Mount Maelstrom to the “regular” ones like Frostgorge and Cursed Shore there are always people around doing events, I find it very nice that I can around and do events with lots of people instead of soloing them, as lots of people think it happens in the game. Try playing the game for a while, then come and post again

Burst my bubble? What bubble? Just stating the fact that Gandara is dead. The game will definitely need a server merge if it is to survive much longer.

It’s not a fact. Try logging into the game before posting, get your FACTS straight and stop your worthless trolling. You appear on every thread posting misinformed non-sense, total garbage without ANY basis.

Big updates already? Which ones? Holiday events don’t count as they are only around for a couple weeks if that.

Fractals was a big update, I mean the karka event update that brought the Fractals. And despite what you may think the holiday events in Guild Wars 2 were by far more interesting and content-rich than in most other MMORPGs out there. Oh right, they weren’t offering best-gear so didn’t care for them? That’s why you don’t count them maybe?

January/February updates are incoming as well, and when they say they’ll be bigger than the previous combined, I for one believe them 100%.

And try playing the game before posting, it doesn’t need a sub, your whole post history is full of garbage

I soloed the following events: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kill_the_jotun_abomination_destroying_the_Priory_camp

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defeat_the_stone_guardian_and_its_minions

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kill_the_imp_lord_to_stop_him_from_summoning_more_imps

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defeat_the_giant_imp

All happened the same day. I got 3 blue items total, a few whites and an Opan Gemstone from the Elemental, on the other hand killing a risen chicken in Malchor’s Leap rewarded me with a Rare Scepter.

No wonder people are farming normal mobs and avoid Champions, please keep in mind how long it takes to kill a Champion compared to a normal mob and adjust their loot accordingly, it’s hard to understand how a mob I can kill in ~4 seconds (the chicken) drops higher quality loot than a Champion that I forgot to count how long it took, but I’m sure I used my Signet of Resolve at least 2 times…

I don’t know how much you “imrpoved” the drop rates of Champions but obviously it’s not enough

I wonder why they haven’t thought of that yet. All major bosses in Guild Wars 1 had a way to gain health that players needed to interrupt in order to succeed. It’s puzzling why they just give insane amounts of health on bosses.

Self healing isn’t always needed take for example Ginva The Butcher in HotW path 1. He has a ridiculous amount of hit points making the fight with him boring. However the fight could turn into a challenging encounter if they made Regeneration heal for a LOT more, Retaliation deal a LOT more damage and have him with 33% of his current health. A challenging boss with a mechanic that people actually need to overcome instead of dps through it.

Just to clarify, I’m one of those players against the idea of something like mounts in this game, but the suggestion to add them, even though I feel dirty saying it, is to simply fill a void where players are opting to hop waypoints instead of walking from one area to another. Lower-level areas, especially large ones like Lornar’s pass, are so sparsely populated with players that we need to get more people running through there. Maybe if you were on a mount and you saw someone in trouble you’d be more inclined to help. Maybe it would add some excitement in WvW. Maybe it would encourage people to explore beyond their standard map completion. Maybe not. I’m not personally a fan of the idea, but it’s a means to an end where I see there is a void in the game.

As I stated on my comment above, why are you “suggesting” removal of WP costs while also suggesting mounts, those two can never go together. Reducing the WPs or instead increasing the cost to use will prompt more people to run through the zone instead of teleporting around… Teleports need to be reduced.

I also want to mention that it is never my intention that a solo player should be penalized. Scaling loot tables for groups is trying to make the system more similar to the way loot works in the original game; a full group of human players is going to get more drops than the same size party with a single player and heroes/henchmen, but they are still getting good drops — just not as many. We don’t want to ever penalize solo players, and we can do that while still rewarding people for working together.

That’s not quite true. A single player is getting less loot while playing with heroes/henchmen only because some of the loot is “reserved” for the heroes. If a player goes SOLO in GW1 they get the same drops as a party of 8 people, that’s why solo farming builds are so popular. A player going solo gets 8 times the loot of a player in an 8-man party.

Another way to “force” players to group together is to make rewards increase, the more events you do in a row, like all the events in a chain and beyond. Increasing the rewards when there are more people around isn’t something good… some events are already camped by lots of players, getting rewards with zero effort, instead they should split the players around instead of forcing them to form a massive mindless blob (like what happens often in WvW) this ISN’T desirable.

I’m surprised to see people disagreeing with completed trading post orders being mailed to a player…not only does this solve an enormous crafting nuisance, but typically when a player buys something it’s because they want it, so why force you to wait until you return to the trading post before you can use it? If there’s a problem I’m not aware of, perhaps just add this as an option when purchasing.

I know it’s a “cheap” excuse, but it will make the permanent trading post access and/or the consumable versions worthless… I don’t like them, but it is one of the reasons for having the requirement to talk to the npc to get your items.

Imagine an arena match 5 bunkers vs 5 bunkers, how long would that take? :P

*11- Traits templates managing system and no fees required to change traits.

Agree with the templates, disagree with the cost, it’s such a low cost anyway and all games need a goldsink of sorts. In Guild Wars 1 you had to pay to change your build (with points you got from playing Missions), then they allowed respecing but to change your secondary prof you had to pay (and do some quests), then you just had to pay for it at the appropriate npc (Factions), it was only in Nightfall that they allowed totally free switching, they allowed Heroes there too, you could change their build freely (which was needed because they were so many!) so it made sense to do the same with players. Atm it’s not needed in GW2 and I don’t see a real reason for removing it.

12- Way point travelling fees

I wish they would either remove waypoints or increase the price considerably, maybe then players would run through the world and try enjoying the ride. Remember it’s all about the journey not the destination, if they allowed free usages of WPs everyone would just be teleporting around, instead of moving through content and participating in events. The only players that will “benefit” from a removal of fees on waypoints are those who do only one/two events and spend the rest of their online day farming ori/wood/omnoms. Not needed at all, and much like Respec fee it won’t change any time soon, if ever.

13- Targeting

That’s a serious issue and needs to be resolved asap, targeting is a real mess as it is now.

14- Party Search

Already working on implementing a similar interface to gw2lfg.com in the game

15- PvP in general

I just don’t see how you could incorporate running around in a zerg of 200people using 10 utility skills as an E-sport. Maybe like rugby? Just have two zergs rush into each other and see who wins.

I think you misunderstood a bit, the eSports aspect of Guild Wars 2 is sPVP not WvW, WvW will never be anything like an eSport, only sPVP has the potential to become an eSport.

Also, February update is WvW update and Ascended gear will become available in WvW, I wonder when it will becoem available from Dungeons, January (together with the Fractals update) or March?

I have no idea about their commitment to E-Sports, but the Feb patch is supposed to be a PvP patch. They haven’t given any details yet though. If all we get is another map and some other fluff, then I don’t fancy their chances much :P

From what I’ve seen/heard in an interview with Anet employees it’s not a PVP patch but a WvW patch.

To the OP: Read the most recent article (isn’t it?) on sPVP: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/structured-pvp-iceberg/

They haven’t said a thing about improvements, or balance, or the thief issue and to be blunt I doubt they will do anything in the near future. I get the impression that Anet is pretty happy with the product they’ve put out despite what players tell them constantly.

Why are drop rates so bad in this game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: maddoctor.2738

maddoctor.2738

Because they want you to buy gems from the store to exchange them for gold.

1) The price of some fine materials (for example Powerful Blood) was too high so they increased the drop rate of those materials and the price already dropped

2) Lodestones are hard to get, but they used to be a lot harder, that’s why each Fractal has a chance to drop some of them, Dungeon rewards were also increased/modified (to what extend is arguable) and more rare materials are rewarded by running them

3) The price of precursor items is extremely high, that’s why they gave us another way of getting one (Karka event) and for a while after that event prices dropped, they promised to add a new way of getting precursors (scavenger hunt) so prices will drop again

4) Karma rewards in the game were too low, leading to extensive farming of events for it, thus they implemented the Jugs of karma

5) Pristine Fractals were a nice addition, to reduce the RNG required to get Ascended gear.

I don’t know about you but I believe the devs aren’t idiots. They can see the grind/RNG required for certain parts of the game and they’ve already made adjustments to reduce it. I’m sure they will do a lot more to reduce the current level of grinding/farming in the game, try to be more positive.

Multi sigil proc?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: maddoctor.2738

maddoctor.2738

to of the same sigils does increase the chance to proc, but the 2nd sigil increase the chance of it to proc by that chance of the sigil (so in your case with 30% a seconds sigil of same type would increase it to 30*1.30 = 39% and not 60% as you might think, 2 different proc sigils would be sharing their cd so whichever ones happen to proc will put both of the sigils on that sigils cd

What if I have a superior and major sigil of fire? Is that still considered as the “same sigils?” If they are treated differently, than their chances of proc would be additional and not multiplied, so it would be 30%+20%=50%?

No. You can only have one on-crit sigil, if you have two only the one in your offhand will trigger. Easily tested in the Mists, get two weapons with different sigils (one Sigil of Air and one Sigil of Fire) and try them on the golems, only your main hand sigil will trigger. I’m positive the exact same happens if you have two of the same. There is no gain for having two sigils of the same type, they don’t stack and they share cooldowns.

Multi sigil proc?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: maddoctor.2738

maddoctor.2738

Sigils that proc on crit or swap share their cooldowns.
Sigils that increase a stat by stacking don’t stack, you can only have ONE sigil of stat increase at a time.

Sigil of Bloodlust with a Sigil of Life won’t work, only your mainhand sigil will apply. Even if you switch to another sigil later, for example after having 25 stacks of Bloodlust, switch to Life, the second sigil WILL NOT trigger, only your mainhand sigil will trigger and if it triggers once you can’t change it. Superior and Major sigils of Bloodlust won’t stack either, for the same reason.

Sigil of Battle and Sigil of Bloodlust stack, one is a swap sigil, the other is a stack sigil, you can use them together.

I’m not sure if two Sigils of Fire stack, I think they don’t but haven’t tested it. But what I’m 100% positive is that swap sigils and crit sigils share cooldowns.

For example:
Sigil of Energy (gain endurance when you swap weapons) and Sigil of Fire (30% to deal damage on critical) share cooldowns, if your fire procs you won’t get any endurance by swapping.

Guess we have to use FRAPS to take a lossless screenshot.

The .bmp screenshots you can take from the game client are also lossless.

In BWE1 and BWE2 there was an option for high-rez screenshots, when you took one of those the game increased the graphic quality to maximum (for a split second to take the picture) AND increased the resolution considerably, like a 4kx4k resolution resulting in super high quality screenshots. Such quality isn’t possible with any third-party program, FRAPS can’t increase the in-game resolution

How about adding a specific area in the Heart of the Mists where players can use their PVE GEAR to test their builds? The current problem with testing in Hearth of the Mists is that character gear changes to the PVP version, which makes any test results in the Mists very inaccurate compared to the real PVE experience. So simply allowing people to use their PVE gear in the Mists, or some specific area there, would be ideal.

While at this, making the combat log show healing done, condition damage applied, boon applied (+seconds) and other useful stats is important. I don’t understand why the combat log is only showing direct damage, either suffered or inflicted, direct damage isn’t the only number that matters in a battle!

25 Dirty Suggestions

in Suggestions

Posted by: maddoctor.2738

maddoctor.2738

1. Won’t happen, there are already a few gear qualities in the game and they just added a new one (Ascended) won’t ever happen.

2. Agreed

3. Let them fix the skills first, after that why not. The idea of having a fixed set of skills/weapons for each profession was meant to help with balancing/fixing. I guess it didn’t work that well in the end…

4. See 3 above, no more skills until the current ones work correctly

5. You can disable ground targeting already and let the skill drop at your cursor location or if you have a target on your target, that’s already in the game

6. Agreed, that would save so much time.

7. Why? So you can get to 80 only with finishing one crafting discipline? Not needed

8. Waypoints are so cheap this isn’t an issue, unless you use them all the time, try walking/running a bit and enjoying the journey instead of complaining about travel costs. Removing the price will just make people teleport all over the place = dead zones = not needed. Again, try walking, the more players do that, the fuller zones will be, the more events will be completed. IF anything they should either increase the cost a lot or remove waypoints altogether.

9. No reason, repairs are cheap, almost unnoticable. You just want a way to remove costs from the game?

10. No absolutely not. So a group of 30 players zerging all events in Orr one by one, no risk, no effort, just 11111 spamming, will get more rewards than 5-6 players trying to clear a difficult event in a hidden area, in a less-visited zone? If anything they should remove drops when the number of people is high, if more than a certain number of people get “credit” on a mob, then that mob drops nothing for any of them. You know, so people spread out and not stay farming penit/shelter/plinx forever?

11. No need. That will only need to solo farming and nobody grouping to do content, unless they also implement a “once per day” option. Otherwise dungeons will die, everyone will be solo farming them… (or duo-farming them etc)

12. That would be nice, but, towns/villages that have crafting stations (they also have personal storage) are never attackable, so they are always safe zones. Towns with TP merchants also in the vast majority are safe zones (maybe all of them I haven’t tested each one) so it’s not hard to know which zone is safe or not.

13. Not happening, like 8 and 9 you just want to remove some very small and barely noticable fees/gold sinks in the game, I don’t see any reason to do it.

14. That could work, but if you want it on another character, use it on another character…

15. No reason for this….

16. So a Guardian/Warrior will be moving around in cloth but in reality be in heavy armor? Not needed, there is a small button in your character screen that switches between the two instantly

17. See 8, first you want to remove map travel cost and then you want to add mounts to “motivate” people to walk? How do these two suggestions of yours work together? Hint: they don’t

18. See any of the “skill-specific” numbers.

19. No, why would they ever want to do that? Unless of course it’s just a replay and nothing changes afterward, for example lots of quests require player choice, if that choice stays the same then a repeat can be possible, otherwise it will only cause a huge mess. The personal story quests aren’t like the missions in GW1 that always have the same outcome.

20. Stacking effectiveness of boons and conditions gets a big NO… I can’t believe anyone who actually played the game wants this, it will make so many boon-based builds immortal. They only have to “fix” stacking of conditions in parties, increase the cap when you are in a group so having lots of condition dealers doesn’t lower the party effectiveness.

21. It depends on skill, lots of skills aren’t, some are

22. Why? Everything you craft isn’t soulbound so you can give anything to any character without a fee. Unless you want to exploit your idea and move all maxed crafting disciplines to one character then delete the others… Not happening and not wanted, fully exploitable.

23. That’s a bug… some merchants carry level appropriate salvage/gathering tools instead of zone specific, find another merchant until they solve this bug.

24. No, there are threads about this all over the place but all get a big no, no reason for this

25. That would ruin crafting (a lot) fully exploitable and unneeded.

Spectator mode would be great so long as you were not in the fight, I have seen modes like this abused. I have also seen people spectator in FPS’s while on Vent/ TS/ Mummble what have you and tell the enemies local. So you see the reasons why not to have it.

So the problem is cheating and abuse as I would love to spectate TPvP and learn some things here and there, the chances for abuse is to great. I believe

That’s true, although while in a fight you don’t have THAT much time to watch anyway. But yes it might be exploited so better leave for out of the fight only.

In Guild Wars 1 they solved any abuse issues by making spectator mode “lag” behind, so you weren’t watching it “live” but instead a few minutes later, so it was near impossible to abuse the feature in any way (unlike in FPS games were spectating is “live” and can be abused a lot)

Dungeons are full of exploits/bugs everyone who runs some of them knows that… Just look at how many exist in Fractals for example.

How about allowing access to the dungeons prior to them going live? No loot drops, no damaged equipment, nothing, just allow people to run dungeons for a while without benefits/drawbacks just to find these issues, essentially some way to beta test them.

A QA team can never surpass a few thousand players, that’s the reason we have beta tests. Allowing players to test any dungeon changes and any new dungeons before they go live would allow the dev team to fix even more bugs than any QA team can find.

Id take a Competent MFer over some newb who runs full zerker gear anyday

And this is why full inspections should never be implemented.

Now, let’s take the same boss, but put player 2 in MF gear reducing his damage by a third to 5000, the same as everyone else. This takes the party’s DPS to 25,000, and it will now take the party 20 seconds to kill the champ. In this case, player 2’s extra skill or better equipment allowed him/her to downgrade their stats in order to earn extra rewards for that extra that they bring to a group, and it had a negligible effect on the party’s success because whatever extra time is going to be a fairly small fraction of 24 hours.

You are always assuming that the MFer is the best player, what if he isn’t? What if an MFer is using green/rare gear because it gives the same amount of MF? Why is it always that the MFer is a pro and everyone else isn’t? Why can’t you see it from the other side?

Let me use a better example
Let’s say a dungeon champ has 500,000 hit points. And the party looks like this (without MF gear):
1 – 7500 DPS
2 – 7500 DPS
3 – 7500 DPS
4 – 5000 DPS
5 – 5000 DPS

Why should Player 2 change to MF gear in this case? We have 4 and 5 who aren’t as good players but what about 1 and 3? Or another example that is also common:

1 – 7500 DPS
2 – 5000 DPS
3 – 7500 DPS
4 – 7500 DPS
5 – 7500 DPS

And still player 2 switches to MF gear which lowers his dps to 3500… what do you say about this one? Is it “fair”? And don’t tell me that all MFers out there are the best players because it’s simply not true.

You want to justify MF because it’s a way for good players to get some extra gear, for being “better” than the rest of the team. In an ideal world that would’ve been good, in an ideal world all players would’ve passed through “regular” gear and then proceed to MF gear as a next step (if you can’t pull your weight in non-MF how are you going to survive in MF gear?) but there are lots of players who go “directly” to MF, skipping the previous part of the game (the exotic gear part).

I agree with what you posted, I don’t think they can make us teleport inside anyway, there are some dungeons that can be “contested”. Maybe adding more exciting events to unlock the dungeons will be a nice addition to all/most dungeons?

I know this has been suggested a thousand times before but it was always mixed with other suggestions as well, and/or the topic title wasn’t as specific, so let’s keep this simple and bumped/signed so the devs can see it.

We need spectator mode for sPVP, it will allow players to become better, learn how to counter builds and even promote the esports scene, you can’t have an esport without spectators! This can work both while dead in a match and of course while outside of it, just like in Guild Wars 1. It could also be used in Dungeons so when you are dead you have something to do

PS: Suggestion names like “My suggestion” or “A couple of suggestions” or “What I want” shouldn’t be used so often, they cause the forming of a needless amount of topics. One topic -> one suggestion with a clear name so we can bump it/discuss it and signed it.

Why did you even bother with dynamic events?

It’s very easy to resolve – up the rewards for completing dynamic event chains and watch as people start farming them again.

That won’t help taking people away of the same Plinx/Shelter/Penit farm events in Cursed Shore… On some servers those are still getting farmed, even more than any dungeon (except fractals)

Why did you even bother with dynamic events?

When I bought this game (back in April when ‘pre-purchasing’ first began), I did so in the belief that the side-kicking system would mean that max leveled players would be able to play anywhere in the world without being overpowered. I actually believed that the world of GW2 would be thriving with players, instead of being just another dead world, same as the majority of MMOs.

During the first months most zones were full of people and dynamic events were happening all over place, everyone was enjoying the content and the “different” way of questing. Unfortunately, as the days progressed that changed for the worse.

Where is the intelligent design, the questioning of long standing concepts, in what you have done with this game? Was it always your intention for max leveled players to grind dungeons for loot while the actual PvE world remains solely for those leveling their characters? This game is yet another in a long line of boring MMOs that goes to great lengths to create a world, and then gives players no reason to be part of it once they reach the ‘endgame’.

That’s exactly the problem, what makes a character “different” be it with the best gear or simple skins is simply… gold. So people ignore the low level content, or dynamic content, and instead farm endlessly dungeons and those few events in Cursed Shore. Anet failed to give enough motivation for people to go and explore, go and try do different things like puzzles/meta events etc, they went the easy way of RNG/luck and impossible amounts of materials/gold required to “progress” in the game other than providing incentives to go and have fun in the world.

The system is already in place, just take a look at the achievements tab, only instead of rewarding useless “points” they could make it more worthwile, or add the old system of books/dailies from Guild Wars 1, motivating people to visit one zone each day to get rewards there, or rewarding people who actually do a variety of activities instead of grinding/farming one dungeon path (not even full dungeon run) or a few events.

What did the devs do? The decided to “nerf” farming… as if the issue was that those activities were super rewarding, completely missing the point, that everything else ISN’T rewarding at ALL

In other words, you don’t have a response to the points we’re making. You just have wild accusations to throw around.

I already responded to everything anyone said on this thread and elsewhere. It all comes down to “pulling your weight in dungeons even with MF gear”, haven’t seen anything other than that. I’ve answered to that countless times and all I get is the same argument again.

I also think that if you have such a strong negative response to the very idea that someone might be getting better rewards than you because they’re using MF gear, you should, you really should, not play with them. Simply announce when forming the group that you don’t want any MF users in your group. Problem solved.

I do, I always do. The problem is with the transmutations around there is no way to know that that full COF warrior is using full MF or not, and unfortunately people hide it so I cant’ really do anything unless the game gives me a way to find them and not group with them, until that day comes the problem is by no means solved.

I look at being able to wear MF gear as a way to get better rewards for my better skill while running easy content. I don’t believe that I should have to do twice as much damage as everyone else by wearing zerker gear while running AC. The group doesn’t need me to, and it’s not going to save us more than a minute or two. I believe that as long as I’m contributing at the very least 1/5 of the damage or its equivalent (cuz bunker builds might not get to 1/5, but they can more than make up for it via boons, healing, tanking, etc) I’m valuable to the group and pulling my weight.

Again the typical “I’m a pro argument, therefore I can easily use MF gear”. Do you honestly believe that people start using MF gear AFTER they actually mastered their class/game and are now good players? No they don’t and as I’ve said countless times I have no problems teaching people both how to play and which gear to choose (offering advice) unfortunately MF gear player are beyond help, they think they are pro so they deserve better loot for their laughable “better” skills and talking about gear won’t go anywhere they already have their “pro” gear.
Why not use that zerker gear if you can, so as to finish the dungeon sooner? I still don’t get this, you say you don’t have to but I ask why not? You aren’t tanking, you aren’t supporting, you are simply damaging then why not go all the way to offer more to the group than be completely selfish?

Also, I’ve not once said “EVERY SINGLE MF PLAYER IN THE GAME IS MORE L33T THAN YOU LOSERS WHO DON’T LIKE MF SO L2P NOOB” cuz I don’t think that’s true. I do think there are leeches out there. I just don’t think they’re all in MF gear.

I read and reread all posts on this thread “proMF” they all talk about how they can pull their weight as if that alone justifies MF gear… Now you are taking it to another extreme, the middle ground is reality, there are bad players both with MF and without it. Those without can be taught and be better players, those with are not.

The point I, and most of the other pro-MF people have been trying to make is that MF should not be the end-all be-all of evaluating someone’s contribution to a group. If someone isn’t pulling their weight, you don’t need to see their gear to know it. You’ll know it because they’re lying on the ground dead during practically every fight. You’ll know it because no matter how many times you try to explain that rushing the boss before clearing trash mobs is bad, or that pulling the boss out from under the molten metal is a mistake, or that wasting time killing infinite respawning minions rather than focusing on the critter that’s spawning them, or any of the myriad other things that bad players do.

But that’s the problem with MF I don’t care if you pull your weight or not, I’m happy with playing with noobs. I care that you could’ve done it a lot better but you chose not to. Simple.

It’s interesting how everyone who posted pro-MF on this thread had the exact same argument “I can pull my weight in a dungeon, I’m always the last to die even though I’m MF” etc how elitist is that? Are you serious?

Are you certain that everyone that runs MF is like you or is maybe using green/rare MF gear just to leech? The second is more prevalent IN THE GAME, apparently the forums are full of pro MF players who can compensate for their subpar gear with skill, the real world is obviously different and that’s the problem. A few vocal pro-MF players come on forums to show off their skills offering nothing on the issue at hand.

Continue being a “pro” who “rules with MF while others die” which can also mean running like a chicken, doing subpar damage so not aggroing anything and so on and so on. There are lots of ways NOT to die in a dungeon, and no way to judge your dps so posts “I’m in MF and do the most DPS” are garbage. Find some other argument this is getting very old and doesn’t offer anything, oh right out of every single thread on MF there is NO other argument for it… just “pros” posting how pro they are and MF doesn’t slow them down, find something else to say.

Why is Berzerker the only set you can compare it to? I already asked earlier and people agreed that toughness/vit sets are not useless or anything…

Because the the best other gear that does only direct damage is Berserker and both Traveler and Berserker offer the same defensive stats, exactly 0.
The point with comparing to Berserker is “if you don’t want to have ANY survivability, use Berserker” I hope it’s simple to understand

Yes, you lose tons of damage.

I just checked. 50 precision is tons on dmg in what world exactly?

Compared to berserker gear, which is the only gear you can actually compare it with.
Edit:
The 2/3 is calculated without runes and weapons I assume?

Runes/Sigils/Trait aren’t included in the calculation, weapon is (I assumed a Dagger in my calculations) It’s clear that Traveler’s does 2/3 damage of Berserker.

When we are at the final boss (of fractals or other instance) we always ask if he is wearing MF or if we see SoL during instance, if they said yes, they are instantly kicked ( Yeah we are 3 team mate).

Thank you for adding yourself to my block list.

I suspect based on this, you’d also be upset at someone who could wear full exotics, but choice to wear only masterwork gear because it saved them on repair bills, correct? Again, you’d have both triggers: intent and personal benefit. I came up with this while thinking about the possibility of the group sharing magic find and what wouldn’t be fixed. Same thing happens with a player who is saving up gold to buy better gear instead of buying the best gear he could get now. Technically, his choice is benefiting just himself (or herself) at the expense of lowering the efficiency of any group they are a member of.

That’s true. I have more “issues” with players using Green/Rare MF gear than people intentionaly using lower quality while they have an exotic somewhere. I don’t believe repair costs are as high as people make them to be, so as to stop using their exotic gear to save some silver… High MF benefits easily outperform any benefits from not using Exotics.
[/quote]

It’s when I put all the possible ways that players choose to be less than perfectly efficient combined with the fact that for 80-90% of the content of the game, you don’t even have to be close that makes it such a non-factor for me. I’d be much more irritated with a player who consistently makes bad pulls or tries to melee the tree in TA than I ever would with someone who is running sub-optimum builds or gear.

I’d be more irritated at someone who is running MF gear (not sub-optimum builds or gear) than the player who makes bad pulls. The second one (as well as those with sub-optimum builds/gear) can be taught a lesson. Pro players should try and teach people instead of rage quiting if someone does a bad pull and the party wipes. The first one is beyond saving, he already made all his choices and chosen not to help his team in any way and instead get gear.

My problem with this whole attitude is that you are judging gear and not performance. How do you even figure that out? How do you decide who contributed more, the guy in mfind set that got downed 2 times, the glass cannon guy who went down 5 times or the vit/toughness guy who didn’t get downed at all?

The MF player can be a “pro” and not die as often as the other noobs, but that doesn’t make it right, think what happens if the two players are of equal skill, what happens then? Clearly, judging by equal skill and all the already proven math on the subject, the player with the better gear is helping more, that’s a fact and can’t change.

More importantly though, it’s not the gear or the performance that matters, as I’ve mentioned countless times I WILL play with noobs, they can learn and improve themselves, I WILL play with people that only have green gear, I can help them choose the best gear for them if they wish but never force anything upon them.

I can’t stand MF users. I don’t care if their performance is amazing or if they can pull themselves while using MF without problems. I can’t stand MF users because they have ALL the choice in the world to get gear that will HELP the party succeed (even a milisecond faster) but instead they intentionaly choose the subpar gear that doesn’t help the party the least bit and instead helps themselves at the expense of everyone else. There is nothing to teach these guys, there is no helping them selecting their gear, they made their choice, chosen subpar gear, and can’t change their minds….

Except that people running vitality and toughness are far less likely to die, which means they are doing damage because they are standing rather than in a permanent downed state. Further, if they are standing, they are also able to rez, bringing even more to the party. The person in full MF, on the other hand, is like the individual who shows up to a group lunch in a restaurant and “forgets” to bring their wallet. They take, but they contribute nothing.

So, basically, you have no problem with people doing less dmg. You also have no problem with people who have low survivability. But that only applies as long as they aren’t wearing mfind gear. I have Knight and Explorer set. The difference is in toughness, dmg is the exact same. But toughness only helps if you are actually getting hit. If I’m not taking dmg, the 2 sets are perfectly equal. So, how can you claim that 1 of them is “dragging the party down”?

Are you sure you are not going to take any damage during all the dungeon runs you will EVER do in the game? I bet you get hit sometimes… so yes you will be dragging the party down even with one hit.

Also, besides having reduced stats you are gaining something, while your party loses, ever thought of that “imbalance”? Besides you are still missing stats AND other benefits of Runes, what kind of runes do you have on your Knight set and what kind of runes on your Explorer set? Which sigil are you using? Full MF set = everything MF sigils/runes/armor/jewels.

What’s so selfish about MF gear is that you lower your gear quality intentionaly for personal gain. YOU only gain something by using it, while the rest of the group loses, every other stat/build offers something to the group, more toughness/vitality is needed at times, more condition damage might be needed sometimes (not often), more boons/healing/support. MF is NEVER ever needed in any way or form…

So, maddoctor, are you planning on kicking people who aren’t running those perfect builds as well? I’m not being snarky in asking. I’m trying to get a feel for why one aspect of inefficiency, magic find gear, is so upsetting when another, builds, does not seem to be.

Already answered that:

I have no issues partying with a noob, in fact I will party with him and even try to “teach” them. I never run dungeons quickly, I always try to explain everything so if those guys try the dungeon later they can do it on their own… even the skipping. I have no problems partying with people using subpar gear or those who are of lower levels, I’ve done CM with a level 38 and AC with a level 30, both succeeded and I have no issues with that.

I hope the above is enough…

One thing seriously bugs me about this topic…do you also consider everybody who runs power/vit/toughness a leecher? Or power/precision/toughness? Or any set that includes toughness/vitality?

Nope he is doing his best to survive and in the end he is actually helping his party. If you’ve played any dungeons you should know that at various points you need to defend npcs/objects or simply survive waves of mobs. Having people with survival and/or support gear is optimal for the group. Unfortunately MF gear doesn’t offer ANY survivability AND it doesn’t compare with damage gear… so it’s inferior in any way imaginable.
