http://gamingbolt.com/guild-wars-2-interview-we-talk-to-areanet-about-how-the-mmorpg-has-been-doing-post-launch

“We had a huge Halloween update in October, we just had a big one in November, we have a giant Christmas update coming in December, and all of those have gone over really well, and I think in December people are going to be really excited. But January and February are actually are biggest updates to date. They’re even bigger than all the stuff we did in October, November and December. And I think that when people see how much stuff they’re gonna get for no monthly fee in January and February, they’re probably going to be blown away. These two months combined are basically an expansion’s worth of content for free” – Colin Johanson

Now I have higher hopes for January, too bad there is no hint as to what they’ll be offering in January, just a vague “These two months combined are basically an expansion’s worth of content for free” I hope for the best and apologize for derailing this thread.

On topic: I don’t think we’ll see a new race in January, it’s too early. Keep in mind that a new race will require new voice overs for all personal story quests… a brand new storyline up to level 30 and other very important staff, I don’t think they had enough time for something THAT big yet.

I DO hope we’ll see the Tengu as a playable race though, they have a huge capital city already, they are a race with lots of backstory and play a role into Guild Wars lore. I believe we will visit the Dominion of Winds close to when Cantha is available

Tengu will most likely be added in the January and February updates with alot of other new features and new content.
Hopefully we will see Maguuma Wastes open up, Ascension armour, updates on legendaries and their effects, new weapon skills, guild halls etc.

They said it will be as big as an expansion.

February will be the month they add Ascended gear in WvW but I haven’t seen any official announcement for January, other than the end of January Fractals update, there is nothing about the January update… Care to enlighten me please? I really want to know what they are “cooking” for January.

At Fractal-level >30 you will need all the Stats you can get. Even with 3000 Armor and over 20k health, some Mobs will kill you almost instanstly. If you play in Full-MF-gear and die alot and the group often wipes because of you, they wont invite you again. The Fractal-community is not that big, you will meet the same people again.

besides, to get loot from a mob, you have to do enough damage to tag the mob.

precisely what i meant its not about the MF gear its about Skills and how good you are at dodging supporting your team and dealing damage and clearing objectives even with a fully tanky build you can go down instantly at fractals so its not really a matter of gear its about SKILL if you got a skillless player using MF gear then please by all means kick him about if hes just gonna stand in front of the mobs and not even dodge.

I don’t see you are saying the same here. If not the complete opposite (that you shouldn’t play with MF gear at Fractals above 30. Reading previous posts will make you understand what’s the issue, hint: it’s not player skill.

Pst you forgot its the Traveler set wich actually boosts Power and Condition

Traveler’s is even worse, it doesn’t add 33% to crit… it adds exactly 0. Rampager adds 44%, at the same level of power. It will increase the bleeding damage but you’ll lose half your direct damage, awesome!

One thing y’all are forgetting in this discussion:

A good level 80 player, even in full MF gear, is overkill versus the difficulty of most dungeons and fractals till about level 20 or so. I’m pretty sure 5 good players in full MF gear would tear through any dungeon in the game no problem, and do so faster than 5 mediocre players in the perfect gear for their build.

I think I anwsered this one already… those same 5 good players without full MF would tear through that same dungeon faster, that’s no point.

Then, of course, we get back to fun. If you truly care about efficiency, you should avoid playing with players running MF, and when you’re calling out for groups or members, make sure to announce that you don’t want MF-geared players in your group. That way, you and the other group members are of a like mind and hence, should have more fun.

And then you get people with full MF that “ping” their non-MF to get aboard the group. Transmuting makes liars very happy.

Conversely, if like me, you don’t care as long as you actually finish the dungeon, then go ahead and run with whoever and whatever. Since there is only one run per day at full reward anyway, I’m totally okay with that.

That used to be true before the advent of Ascended gear and the impossible grind they require, I could care less about cosmetics and legendaries and I was of the belief “whatever gear he uses or whatever drops he is having, it doesn’t affect me” since I could get the gear anyway, now it’s completely different, those 250 tier 6 mats don’t come so easily, therefore “pushing” is more annoying now. Perhaps it will change again once they give us other non-super grind ways of gettign gear.

@maddoctor,
You’re not done with the numbers, just the easy part. You then have to translate that back into damage output and damage resistance. Sure, those big numbers look like they make a huge difference, but once you factor in the actual damage formulas, not so much, and nowhere near as big a hit as getting downed in a fight which reduces your DPS to zero as well as that of anyone who stops to rez you.

They are the actual damage formulas if you didn’t notice… Also I used a Berserker set which has the same stats as Explorer’s + SOME MORE, the argument about getting downed is invalid… same skill players have the exact same probability of getting downed, both sets don’t give tough/vitality.

Also, it’s pretty easy to ‘fix’ most of the DPS loss by building in some condition damage which ignores mob armor. That’s why my bleed-build warrior runs MF gear, but my direct damage elementalist does not. My necro could run MF given the condition spam they have available, but she’s a wells/marks bunker, and you can’t really do bunker using MF gear.

Wrong again. Last I checked there was a stat called Condition Damage that increases your damage with conditions, since I’ve done those calculations in the past too (see attachment) With 850 Condition Damage you DOUBLE your condition damage.

Let’s do the math again:

Explorer’s:
Power: 698
Precision: 698

Rampager:
Power: 698
Precision: 1003
Condition Damage: 698

With 698 more condition damage (instead of MF) your bleeding is dealing 82% more damage… at 25 stacks that 82% more damage is very significant so your Warrior would’ve been dealing 82% more damage than he is using now if he was wearring Rampager instead of Explorer (also 14% more crit chance)

Do you know how many necros with wells/marks I’ve seen with MF sigil and gear in Fractals? Or Staff Elementalists? too many to count so you might be “thinking” of your build but the majority isn’t.

So, as far as taking a hit on how well I kill things and a leach on a group: mf absolutely impacts your usefulness. Is it worth it? yes.
Final advice: pvp gear when others depend on you, mf gear in your own time. mix it up if you can’t afford both.

True. Problem is there is no way in the game to “enforce” this. Hopefully once we get that long awaited Dungeon patch (with Ascended gear, changes to encounters etc) they’ll add an easy way to see the MF of everyone in the group (to kick as appropriate) but only MF no full inspections

as i ve said many times sure you have less stats but you guys are forgetting traits play a big role if the player has a power/crit%/crit damage% build he/she will still deal some decent damage. another thing is not everything is about dealt damage support is vital in dungeons sometimes. MF does lower stats but even with lvl 80 exotic gear players still suck so it is not a matter of player wearing MF gear or not it is a matter of PLAYER’s skill and aid in dungeons or whatever. hell im an engineer and im the one who ends up tanking hordes at melee range that is a good example i believe.

I can’t believe whenever there is a discussion on magic find we get posts about player skill… Are people just blind? There is a huge difference between someone that uses MF and someone that is a bad player or has subpar gear. The latter doesn’t have a choice, the former has all the choice in the world, that’s the huge difference you are forgetting and it is the most important one for me.

I have no issues partying with a noob, in fact I will party with him and even try to “teach” them. I never run dungeons quickly, I always try to explain everything so if those guys try the dungeon later they can do it on their own… even the skipping. I have no problems partying with people using subpar gear or those who are of lower levels, I’ve done CM with a level 38 and AC with a level 30, both succeeded and I have no issues with that.

The real problem comes from players who intentionaly lower their gear quality. They have all the luxury/money/tokens to buy gear that is useful to everyone in the party and instead they CHOOSE to get selfish gear that offers nothing to the group. That’s the problem, I don’t care if you can pull yourself in a dungeon because you are pro, that’s not the issue or the problem, it’s the fact that you are laughing on my face as you get more loot while doing less.

Player skill > gear is true in this game, but that only means that bad players shouldn’t even use MF gear. Have you ever considered just to think about same skill level players? I’m sick of reading bragging posts “I was in full MF and didn’t die while the rest of the group with full defensive gear died” SO WHAT? Maybe you were just pew pewing from afar and never got aggro or entered combat… maybe your dps was so pitiful that all the mobs ignored you, ever thought of that genious? How about comparing equally skilled players and see what difference MF does there. In that case numbers don’t lie.

You are saying that traits are playing an important role… seen by the numbers alone a traitless nonMF person has more stats than someone with MF Exotic Gear… it’s because traits are far more important right?

So let me get this straight, What you are saying is there are only cookie cutter builds that are viable and if you stray from those then you shouldnt be able to play the game?

No but some builds are better than others. I play an Elementalist and a Guardian mostly and I have “made” lots of builds that use all my available weapons, too bad I can’t save them though. I can move around Orr with all of them without issues, and they aren’t all “tank” builds either… What I’m saying is that maybe you need to change a bit your build and try and see why you are dying so quickly.

I’m sure once you get used to it, you will remember these times of frustration in Orr and say “hey, this is super easy, I want more challenge!” like so many people before you. I also used to think that the Risen are impossible… it’s natural, there is a rather “huge” leap in difficulty compared to the other areas. Take it easy and with some time you will get used to it, even without changing your build!

As to the comparisson between Explorer’s and Berserker’s gear (Weapons included this time):

Explorer’s:
Power: 698 = 1614 Total (916 is base)
Precision: 698 = ~33% crit chance

Berserker’s:
Power: 1003 (30% more power) = 1919 Total (~16% higher power)
Precision: 698 = ~33% crit chance
Crit Damage: 62% = 212% crit damage

Let’s take a dagger for the calculation with an average weapon damage of 952. Also let’s attack a target with 2600 armor (the armor that tooltips compare damage against). Also, let’s take a skill with 1.0 coefficient for easier calculations.

Damage: Damage done = (weapon damage) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)

Damage with MF = 952*1614*1/2600=590 damage
Damage with Berserker = 952*1919*1/2600=702 damage

Now both have 33% chance of being critical so our total average damage is:
(<Non-critical*2>+<critical>) / 3

MF Critical: 590*150%=885
Berserker Critical: 702*212%=1488

Total Average damage with MF: (590*2+885)/3=688,3 dps
Total Average damage with Berserker: (702*2+1488)/3=984 dps

So the OP is incorrent it’s not 15% difference in damage but the damage with MF is 69,9% of Berserker damage… a tiny bit higher than 2/3

I hope we ALL agree that doing 2/3 of the damage of another “similar” set with the same survivability is a HUGE differnce.

No sigils, traits or runes were taken into account above, but the difference is quite stunning, 688.3 compared to 984 damage with the exact same defensive capabilities. Sigils and Runes would make this a lot harder for poor MF gear…

First up, 15% and 60% are completely pulled out of the kitten. Unless you have hard numbers, avoid numbers at all. If you want hard numbers in your magic find, look at comparable pieces and do that math. The difference between Explorer’s and Berserker’s is trading crit damage for magic find and small reduction in power on some pieces. There is a definite answer to how much it affects a player’s DPS and income, and the answer isn’t 15% and 60%.

Numbers from a post I made some time ago on another thread about MF:

Exotic MF is WORSE than Masterwork non-MF so you are indeed holding the group back when you are using MF gear
Masterwork armor: 623 stat boosts
Masterwork jewelry: 739 stat boosts
Total: 1362
Exotic MF armor: 448 stat boosts
Exotic MF jewelry: 510 stat boosts
Total: 958 stat boosts
Now take into account that the vast majority of players is using Rare armor and Green jewelry and you can easily see the problem. We are talking about 404 more stat points on the MASTERWORK set compared to an MF set, an EXOTIC set is:
Exotic armor: 763 stat boosts
Exotic jewelry: 868 stat boosts
Total: 1631
673 more stat points! It’s ridiculous amount no matter how you see it and it DOES affect a build. Also, I’m not adding Runes and THEIR abilities compared to the useless %MF that MF Runes give.

I think that those 404 more points that Masterwork gear has over Exotic MF are enough to make a difference in both damage and survivability, while the 673 point difference with Exotic is even higher and if the player is using green or rare MF the difference is ridiculous… I didn’t add the Weapon in my calculations above, but a weapon adds 179 more points (Magic Find on weapons is “Major” stat)

I can’t “test” how much more income someone makes while using MF gear, I’ll let some other forumer to do that.

The level 80 areas are impossible to solo. I think that this is part of their “anti-bot” strategy. It sucks because I solo alot to since I prefer open world over dungeons but I don’t think it is going to change. It is well documented that Anet expects players to party all the time. There are rewards (additional drop rates) for being in a party as well. No room for “lone wolves” in GW2!

Which zone is impossible to solo? I’m walking casually around all areas in Orr/Frostgorge without any problems… if anything they need to up the difficulty there, being an end-game zone and all.

Of course this happens afrer you learn your profession and start using “proper” builds. Once that happens and you get the hang of the zone AND your character you should be able to move around Orr while sleeping.

Well if they remove common materials from the recipe so it rewards only fine materials and lodestones (+ectos/shards/coins as they do know) I wouldn’t have any problems with the RNG… I made 7 clovers with 23 tries (which is close to 1/3) but got 6 leather/5 gossamer/3 wood and 2 ori… which are pretty much useless compared to the actual cost. Also after 23 tries I didn’t get a single lodestone.

I believe if they improved what you can get from the mystic clover recipies, instead of being another gold sink to create your legendary, it would actually be a somewhat useful recipe as a whole.

Slightly yes by 3% or so due to the game of the year awards and christmas. They did 15 days ago increase the server capacity that makes it seem like it as well.

But the truth is they have lost 65% of the population since the launch.
The locusts left in Sept.
WvW is stale in unless in T1 never a Q
Spvp and Tpvp are on total life support.
Then came Ascend gear – That lost 30% of the pop right there.
Now there is the loot downgrades the constant changing of the goal posts.
And frankly some of the worst management of a game from a design studio I have seen with the exception of TOR it is on par with Bioware right now.

Revenue is being squeezed out of every non dungeon player. For some reason Anet went against what they thought and put the best gear and loot in one place and made it available at one place and gated the content. They then went out and killed open world loot to force people to buy gems to keep up with the dungeon runners.

What you see now is up upswing for holidays about 10% pop increase (returning players not the 3% new accounts) for a few days then people exodus again as they see Anet hasnt fixed the issues they left about.
It was the same with Halloween.
The game is in trouble yes. No not critically yet but I do predict that with the epic new content in FEB that there will be a F2P announcement to bring in new accounts and increase the revenue stream as they have bled the non dungeon runners dry.

Open worlds are empty and barren and DE’s are solo or arent done. Really sad.
WvW – borderlands are always outmanned/breakout event constantly ready. Bad
– EB still manageable and fun at times but the only place to fight. Sad
Spvp -4 hours a day can you get a hot join match
Tpvp – dead – no one does them any more.
Dungeons – seems ok somewhat. Use the lfg site and map chat. Still non fractal is next to impossible to do.

Yes they come back from this but it will take a significant effort and they must listen to the community instead of trying to silence them. Most people here want the best game possible but when the devs constantly attack you as a player you wonder why bother.

Ascended gear will be available from dungeons “soon”. I think in February they will introduce Ascended in WvW so it stands to reason that dungeons will have Ascended rewards around that time, sooner or later depends on which one is the highest priority. However I’d really hate it if they make Ascended gear available with tokens
What will they do? Require 200000 tokens per piece? That won’t make any sense, and if they increase the drop rate of tokens, exotic armor from dungeons will become obsolete, there MUST be another way to get Ascended through dungeons than using more tokens.

Because anet is still a game company, keep them, they might decide to go with the 200000 tokens idea…

uhm.. if you keep down-pressed forward and strife to some side buttons at same time you dodge diagonally. don’t see how this is not intended?well personally i have double tap disabled (for obvious reasons- JP, missusing), so never have any problems with dodging direction. always dodge to the direction i’m moving. be it running forward, backward, strifing or combination of those

It looks really unnatural to dodge diagonally while the character model is obviously rolling only forward. If the actual dodge was diagonal then yes it would fit, but your character is dodging forward while “moving” diagonal and up… it’s not natural at all.

Still, in most other games I’ve played that featured dodging, when you double-tapped the key, your character dodged to that direction instead of going diagonally, effectively “stopping” the forward movement. It’s more “efficient”/responsive in combat situations and looks far better in action.

More love for conditions please, and especially burning, needs a lot more than bleeding

I got a level 76 rare dagger by killing a level 7 ghost in Plains of Ashford so I’m not sure what is going on in this thread :P
I was on my level 80 btw.

From my experience: loot is scaled when you go to a lower level zone, however some drops don’t scale: Fine materials / salvage objects NEVER scale, it would’ve been impossible for level 80s to find lower tier materials otherwise, also, WHITE drops are usually lower level (to the zone level I believe) but anything above that is scaled to your actual level not your effective level.

The higher the quality, the higher the level, so rare items you find EVEN on 1-15 zones are higher level while Blue items and Green items sometimes are of lower level than your actual level. This “rule” doesn’t apply to special named items, for example Caudecus’s Journal is a green drop in CM and it is always of a fixed level (45) and of green quality regardless of the actual player level.

As for the experience difference: did you count how many seconds you need to kill mobs of different levels? If the lower level mobs provided equal experience to the higher level ones, everyone would’ve been farming the lower level ones for experience since you can easily 1-shot them, while the higher levels are a lot more challenging.

maddoctor.2738

OK I’ve been thinking of posting this for a long time now. It was the very first “issue” I sent a report back in August when the game was launched but I got no answer and it is still in the game. I played a lot of video games that feature double tap to dodge, most notably the Unreal series, but there are others too, and I experience an inconsistency between all other games and Guild Wars 2.

When the left/right key is double tapped (A or D in my case) my character performs a forward dodge roll instead of dodging to the direction indicated by the key pressed. This is very easy to test, either keep forward (W in my case) pressed or click R so the character is set to autorun then double tap a direction key, the character will perform a forward dodge (slightly titling to the left or right, but it is still a forward dodge). Being a dodge-intensive game, and still behaving this way, I was wondering if it is actually working as intended (which is odd) or is a bug.

Skill or Magic Find?

Anyways, probably the best system is to have multiple ways to get to all content. You can get Legendaries through massive amounts of gold, beating some incredibly hard content, winning a big PvP tournament, top-scoring in jumping puzzle speedruns, etc etc.

That’s exactly what is needed. Multiple ways to get what you need and that’s exactly what the devs said they will do with Ascended gear (the current Fractals-only system is a failure, aknowledged by the devs themselves) so there is hope that they will add a way to get Legendaries in other ways too…. once they are upgraded to Ascended quality.

I just hope their “new system” won’t have anything to do with the current one, like getting Ascended through WvW? 100000000 tokens per piece, want to get Ascended through dungeons? 10000000000 tokens per piece, want to get Ascended from karma (if that will be an option) 1000000000000000000000 karma per piece, want to get it as random drop? 0.0000001% chance, want to get it from crafting? 1000 tier 6 mats etc etc. I expect something completely new and maybe challenging/worthwhile

See what I mean by more competent here?
Some people just don’t know how to split their time in the game, jerk around, and come later to forums to tell us about their “great endevours”.

If you’re shooting to the starts, it will be painful, no matter what.

Competent and RNG are completely different

What RNG?
I bought everything.

And that’s exactly the problem as described by the OP and many others… you can buy everything! So a “competent” player that gets lots of legendaries is one that farms the most, arranges his time to do cof p1 and the events in Cursed Shore all day so he gets money, there is no real challenge, other than “organizing your time to do the most efficient farm”… I wouldn’t call that skill. And yes you are right above I didn’t organize my time well since I hate grinding/farming and I spent my hours having fun doing various stuff instead of farming events/dungeons like a bot.

This has probably been brought up quite often, but can we get better female armors? Armors other than the bikini outfits and shameless sexy lolita costumes? I’m assuming GW2 has a decent amount of female gamers, who would like to have armors that do not just appeal to a male audience. I would love to see more functional armor that doesn’t revolve around exposed cleavage, or showing off under garments.

As others posted there are only a few armors that actually show off cleavage or under garments in the game. The fact that the Winged set is so popular maybe means that people like that kind of armor? It’s not even high level or with high stats so it’s transmuted…

Now I’ve got just about the same progress in achievements as you, less than 900 hours total and almost done with my 2nd legendary. (forget about other stuff like all classes at 80, 4 alts with full exotics etc…)

See what I mean by more competent here?
Some people just don’t know how to split their time in the game, jerk around, and come later to forums to tell us about their “great endevours”.

If you’re shooting to the starts, it will be painful, no matter what.

Competent and RNG are completely different

(There is no need for you to mention the fact that Anet is going to change the way to get precursors because I already know it. I am talking about the actual GOLD you need for the Legendary or, in other words, how much more FARM and LUCK, than SKILL you need.)

Fixed it for you. It’s not only farm, it’s also a matter of RNG luck. You can call it Random Wars or Grind Wars if you like.

Unfortunately you are completely correct. I’ve done near everything in the game, I have 4120 achievement points and 900+ hours played but I’m still a very long way away of getting a legendary, why? Because I didn’t spend all those hours farming penit/shelter/plinx/cofp1 etc but instead I tried to do everything, not only dungeons, but explorable achievements, jumping puzzles, everything that the game has to offer. What was my “Reward” for doing everything in the game? Nothing.

When I first decided to get a Legendary I started with the “fun” part, getting 100% World Completion, I thought after I do that I would have a lot of materials for the rest… How wrong I was I only got less than 5% of the total needed… Same with finishing all dungeons, I expected to have enough materials/money to make a part of the legendary but again I had less than what 10% of the total needed?

Whats your deaths per hour?

Just wanna compare how often the different character classes die and if I am exceptionally rubbish at GW2…lol

Well it all depends on what you are doing with your characters. Someone that is just farming events/ori all day for 500 hours shouldn’t have any deaths. Someone who is running easy paths of easy dungeons (CoF P1) all day shouldn’t have any deaths.
On the other hand, someone that does the hard dungeons, reached high fractals level or does any form of PVP (WvW or sPVP) will certainly have a LOT more deaths. Especially in sPVP people die a LOT so there is no comparisson.

I want to play Elementalist, but I am worried

Ele is one of the easiest classes to play.
Skill ceiling is high for classes that need to rely reflexes, positioning and timing or particular setup mechanics; Ele has almost nothing of this.
Regardless if the average MMO baddie believes # of button equals skill ceiling, Ele is probably the second easiest class (Ranger takes first by far).
My little nephew plays an Ele very good, and fails to understand other classes because they are not as straight-forward and simple.
Worry not about Ele difficulty OP, class is pretty easy to play so far.

When you say “easiest” you have to compare with the other classes.
I haven’t tried Necromancer and Engineer yet, maybe they are harder than Ele who knows, but compared to a Guardian/Warrior in PVE, Ele is a lot harder to play/master, since with them you just stand still, spam 1 and your worst enemy is falling asleep while playing. Guardian and Warrior are easy mode in PVE, there is a reason everyone is rolling one…
Mesmer and Thief are “easy mode” as well, very easy to play (but very hard to master) as Mesmer even a real noob can spam illusions/phantasms if he googles a nice build and be semi-decent. A newbie Thief on the other hand can be semi-decent while not doing much… just learn one combo (backstab) and if it doesn’t work (1-shot) come on forums to ask for nerfs….
Unfortunately there is no faceroll with the Elementalist in either PVE or PVP. You can argue that you can just stand still and spam AOE with a staff when you are attacking/defending a keep in WvW but in general facerolling = dead ele, unlike any of the above classes… So no, you might say it’s “easy” but compared to the others it’s a lot harder.
Eles rely on reflexes and timing to play properly, they have lots of combos and lots of utilities, in order to take advantage of them you got to learn them, learn to use them properly, long CDs and short durations mean using them at the appropriate moment is key, and since Eles don’t have any easy “passive” defense, unlike the above profs – heavy armor – hit points – stealth – clones, if you miss the timing you are dead.
Ranger is indeed the easiest profession to play, I agree with that, that’s why I left him out of the above :P

D/D skills missing vs trebuchet & doors

Fire #1
Fire #2
Fire #5
Water #2
Air #1 #2

Fire #1 doesn’t miss THAT often, it’s not reliable by any means but it’s not like Air #1. If you go in melee range, or on top of the object you won’t miss that often, in fact against most objects in PVE you shouldn’t miss at all (like Trebuchets, Burrows, Risen Rotmouths etc).
Fire #5 has a targeting issue with everything, not only objects
Air #1 and #2 miss 95% of the time for me too, they miss even on mobs/players if you are moving.
Fire #2 and Water #2 always deal some damage, they miss a lot of their potential damage but if you stay perfectly still your target will take damage.

When dealing with attackable objects I use Fire #3 to deal most of my damage, if you use Burning Speed at point-blank range it will deal maximum damage in the least time. It’s your best weapon against Trebuchets and Doors in PVP too.

Did base crit dmg get nerfed?

The crit damage showing on your character screen (if you hover on Critical Chance) is any crit damage you already have and is added to the base 50%. You probably have 30 points in a trait line that increases crit damage.

PVE cond and 1 shot balance

If you tried making a real comparisson Burning isn’t that great. 8 stacks of bleeding at 0 condition damage equal burning and the higher your condition damage, the less stacks you need, at 850 Condition Damage and above you only need 6 stacks of bleeding to equal Burning damage. 6 stacks for lots of profs are VERY EASY to maintain on a target. Also, burning is inferior in dungeons because bleeding stacks up to 25 times for more than triple the damage of burning at 0 condition damage…

See my thread here for data:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/elementalist/Condition-Damage/first#post1071417

Poison is already a powerful condition with the heal reduction, some more mobs (bosses) that use healing would make it even more important.

As for the 1-shot “request” I don’t think I understand that one

maddoctor.2738

For some reason the most popular weapons require the least farmable lodestones for example Charged Lodestones needed for Sunrise drop in Crucible of Eternity which is one of the hardest dungeons while Air Elementals of level 80 are very very few, near impossible to grind

There shouldn’t be any grinding.
However you might not be familiar with that but all cores and lodestones drop in Fractals.

I know that but if you look at the TP the cheapest Lodestones are those that can be farmed from mobs…..

As someone relatively new to the D/D ele, I am genuinely curious what to do when a thief gets the jump on me and takes me down in less than 2 seconds. Do I just hit shocking aura and hope for the best? Suggestions?

I have one suggestion, always move, you can have perma-swiftness on, so a Thief coming and backstabbing you shouldn’t be a common sight. If he does manage to jump on you, it’s all about quick reflexes, to pop your “save me” skill before he finishes you off. I have Mist Form on mouse 4 so I can use it in an instant.

As the title says.

The purpose of a Legendary is to be something special, something you had to put a lot of work in.
Not just a lot of money.
Now, since they can be sold on the TP, everyone can buy them with a kittenload of money
(and those people will mostly buy the gold from 3rd Party sellers )

Instead, you could make them Bind-On-Pickup and Accountbound

I think many players will agree with this.

PS: sry for my english, it isn’t my mother tongue

As long as Legendaries aren’t better (stat wise) than the next best type of gear (once Ascended is introduced) then I would have no problem even if Anet put all Legendaries on the Gem Store for real money… It wouldn’t affect me at all, just like all the other skins on the gem store or the minis.

Legendaries aren’t hard to acquire in any way, they just take time, they are so easy to get that a pre-programmed bot can get a legendary with a tiny bit of help, maybe even better than a real player because all you need to get a marvelous legendary is farm endlessly, there is no challenge to them only farm/grind. So people who can’t farm/grind because they have lives, can use their real money to buy a Legendary…. The prices for them are so high anyway only someone that pays real money OR farms/grinds all day can get them.

Once they change the purpose of a legendary and make it something you are actually proud you made with your skill, then they can make them Bound on Acquire…

These Cores/Lodestones

in Suggestions

Posted by: maddoctor.2738

maddoctor.2738

Only they drop from completely different mobs some are easy to find, for example there are lots of level 80 Imps and Ice Elementals to get Glacial Lodestones, while there aren’t any Destroyers or Earth Elementals level 80 in the game so good luck “grinding” for Destroyer and Onyx Lodestones. It’s obvious that legendaries play an important role to Lodestone prices but the inability to farm the most “popular” ones is also driving the prices high. For some reason the most popular weapons require the least farmable lodestones for example Charged Lodestones needed for Sunrise drop in Crucible of Eternity which is one of the hardest dungeons while Air Elementals of level 80 are very very few, near impossible to grind

The skill is supposed to put you back in downed state and increase your downed penalty. In general you die at 5 downed penalty (that is you have 4 and get downed again)… but with Vapor Form you die at 4, downed -> Vapor -> downed -> Vapor -> dead you shouldn’t be dying by a second use but you do.
