the wolves are normally just cleaved as part of attacking mossman but one or two will always linger so we can basically score rallies off of them. if they end up being an issue, guardian blinds or thief blinding powder could be a decent tactic.

if you can’t get in to a decent dungeon/fractal guild I suppose you’ll just have to do what you’re most comfortable with in a pug situation – i’m stubborn so i’ll melee everything (even if it means meeting the dumpster in se p3 dredge clown car) but if you had more common sense than I do and decided to go 1 melee and 1 range set I suppose that would be fine too.

the strategy for mossman which we tend to use on 49/50 is we have a guardian in knights who tries to hold aggro, chaining aegis (focus 5, retreat, f3, renewed, f3, etc.) while the rest of the team wail on him. We put reflects/absorption up to deal with the dancing dagger, and keep him perma-crippled/chilled so the guardian can backpedal. if he switches aggro, the person taking it backpedals and we get behind mossman again. whatever you do, don’t dodge in to your party or he’ll just cleave and throw them all in the trash can.

i’m pretty sure you can’t expect pugs to do anything like this though, the fight will be too chaotic to control since nobody will be aware of what they should be doing.

I don’t deserve a legendary, but given my time and effort in the game I deserve meaningful progression towards one. Progression towards one by the fact I PLAY THE ACTUAL GAME.

Getting lucky or grinding out a bunch of gold does not seem legendary to me, so I don’t do it.

The fact is that ANet make MONEY from rl purchases. That’s the biggest issue here and why we are stuck in this sorry state for Legendary acquisition.

Multiple legendary holders are anything but skilled players.

Wow, such a good player. Please tell us more about how wvw kills and PvP rank which you can just farm, liadri which takes almost zero skill, dungeon master which you can just buy and fotm rank which you can just be carried through are demonstrations of skill.

Lots of groups do not even bother to gearcheck or ask what your build is. As soon as they see you are a ranger they kick you. Funnily enough once you run with guildies they love you for being a ranger as they know you are capable and doing the right things.

Having said that, i fully understand pugs. A warriors performance is mostly the same if you are pro or simply smashing your head into the keyboard. So for safety sake, its better to take a warrior

but for daily dungeon tours, we have no problemo taking a ranger, people just normally don’t like running theirs in our guild unless they’re in the mood for it.

“Speed runners” on the LFG aren’t speed runners at all, they’re just tryhard wannabes.

Real speed run groups will go something like ele/ele/warrior/guardian and then either third ele, or maybe a thief for stealth or maybe even a ranger for frost spirit/spotter. Thief works if the dungeon has stealth sections, engineer isn’t really specialised in anything but it has competitive dps and solid utility so if you’re just doing a daily dungeon tour you can take one along just fine.

Right, because guardians in WvW running zero DPS builds and warriors with their base health being higher being able to run zero + 1 DPS builds clearly means warriors damage > guardians.

Zerker is the most popular build for all classes, and it is possible to have a zerker necro or engi.

But you’re also right that condition builds are also popular (and effective!) on those classes and zerker gear is no good for them because conditions don’t crit and aren’t affected by power.

It’s also entirely possible to use a number of other builds, on all classes, if you’re not bothered about having the absolute highest possible damage. For example celestial stats are quite popular for ele’s because when you’re switching attunements a lot you will make use of all the stats.

But if by most lucrative you mean the ones that will enable you to make gold the fastest then I think your best bet in PvE is speed clearing dungeons, and for that you want a warrior or guardian in full zerker gear. IMO it’s not very fun, but it is profitable.

“Zerker” is not a build. Also, why would you suggest celestial stats when the OP wrote “Best PVE stats for each class”?

You also don’t need neither a guardian or warrior, every class besides necromancer is solid in dungeons, for example playing an engi gives you massive amounts of utility – you have access to stealth, might through fire field blasts, healing, projectile absorption, projectile reflection, crowd control skills, vulnerability stacking, heavy condition application (in a full direct damage build) and the fact that you’re mostly just using grenades means you don’t even need to be in melee, you can chill back (as long as you know you won’t pull the boss out by aggroing it) spamming nades and still doing better DPS than like 95% of pug dungeon runners.

In PvE condition damage in general is just bad, if there is more than 1 player causing cond damage they kinda cancel each oter damage, so that is why he is saying that even for Necro and Eng zerker is better.

Condition damage is very good if you want to solo dungeons/bosses.

Either go double greatsword with double battle or go gs/axe+mace, open with the a/m vuln skills then just go pure gs for the rest of the fight.

key things for me were condition cleansing the immobilise and dodging the weakness/bleed autoattack. not sure how many cleanses necro has but i’m sure if you’re not lazy like me you can probably just dodge the immobilising web attack.

doesn’t matter whether it takes skill, the best 99% of pugs can do is SR. your “small things that bug you” are because you set extraordinarily high standards to your pugs relative to their actual skill level.

yep, I still see stealth consumables there. Here’s a tip, if you want people on that kind of level, run in guild or just solo it. I don’t understand why people would subject themselves to something that would annoy them, knowing full well that the players in their party aren’t on the same level as them.

If he doesn’t want to use berserker, I honestly don’t care – I don’t care what people in this game do in their dungeons because I’m not playing in their instances, I’m only interested in preventing the spread of misinformation and simply trying to teach people.

I still see more warriors than guardians, yes guardians can out dps warriors and it takes skill to do considering the low HP. Warriors however doesn’t take a lot of skill, low risk – high reward.

Both warrior and guardian don’t take much skill , both classes are straight forward: swing your great sword and that’s about it. Although warrior has healing signet, guard also has a lot of passive regen and aegis from traits.

Except if you go full DPS as a guardian, you have the lowest HP in the game, on the same level as eles, but without their huge array of skills.

DPS guard is just as faceroll as warrior, heals from meditations and tons of blocks. If you want to play something hard, play S/X glass ele.

If you bring a meditation guardian to any sort of pve group oriented content you should be kicked.

Guardians are brought for their group support over dps. (This does not mean bring an AH or Virtues cleric guardian.)

It means bring a guardian that is in full zerker gear with shouts and/or consecrations for the reflects.

Just because you can bring group wide boons doesn’t mean you should sacrifice DPS. And seriously if you bring a meditation guard to dungeons. you are doing it wrong.

If you want hard you run absolutely nothing in the toughness line except maybe strength in numbers but then you are giving up a ton of your DPS

Yeah.. thing is, you haven’t. You’ve justified your own gameplay by insulting everyone else. I’m loathe to point fingers, but it’s attitudes like yours that bring so much flak to the “elite” set in the first place.

It was that very thread that prompted me to do some more research. I did find that axe 4 did grant a resonable uptime for fury

For Great Justice and (traited) Signet of Rage is 44 seconds of fury every 48 seconds. You don’t need axe 4 fury in a group.

and axe 5 can be used to build adrenaline quickly, allowing for a near spam of axe F1, it also allowed to help bring down multple adds at the same time, as axe 5 is basically an AoE

Healing surge/signet of fury. Spamming eviscerate isn’t that much of a DPS increase anyway, especially if you use berserker’s power, in which case it’s a flat loss.

Axe 5 is less damage if it hits five enemies than axe auto is hitting three enemies. I can give you the numbers I recorded if you want, or you can take my word for it. If you use axe auto the mob dies faster which means if a party member goes down they can rally. If you axe 5, they might go down and not be able to rally.

But I still need to dodge to 1 shot boss attacks, still need to move out of range from telegraphed attacks, still need to know when to pop axe F1 for maximum damage, etc. I still run the same gear set, and trait according to the situation and group.

If you still get one-shotted, use berserker. It’s basically more damage at no loss in survivability.

But I’ve noticed in BAD PUGs with the beserkers lying dead, I can more often than not solo the boss until completion. I’m not saying my valk setup is better than beserker, each of them have their place, its more of a preferencial playstyle than anything.

And when I was bothered to pug in dungeons, there were lots of Arah runs where my party ate the floor (you know, “bad pugs”) and I soloed the rest of the fight. Or they couldn’t do a skip and I just solo the next boss to pop the waypoint.

Fine is a little relative. It is optimal to point where it overshadows about everything else in 50% of the game. Its just how the game is. Active defenses are just too good, and completely null any downside to zerk.

The downside is you’re squishy. And let’s get something straight – you’re not an elite dungeon runner like some of us here are, so you’re not just dodging all of the attacks. You’re eating hits, you’re going down and you’re not invincible. Berserker gear has risks. Even in our dungeon runs we make mistakes and go down. The risk is there.

Different stat sets shine in pvp at least. It would be neat to have that dynamic over in PvE, but short of a total rework, not seeing how they would go about it. More undodgeable attacks can only do so much.

Mai Trin’s pistol shot is undodgeable. So …. we run berserker and the guy who has pistol aggro blocks it.

Undodgeable attacks don’t stop us running it. Unblockable attacks don’t stop us. Unreflectable attack don’t stop us. People need to stop suggesting these things which only punish the pug community. Us speed runners will blitz through it no matter what is done.

I get alot of flack for using a valk warrior axe/axe build with shouts or banners. I am good at this build, having spend alot of time and research into how to play it well. I don’t join “zerker only” or “speed clear” LFGs. If anyone wants to do a glass cannon berserk build. Great! More power to you! But please, for the Six sake, don’t hate on those who don’t feel the same way about beserker as you do. Don’t think that because we have a different play style/build that we are bad players. Our builds require just as much skill as beserker, just different. We still need to know when to dodge, watch telegraphs, when to pop a certain utility or weapon skill, use what skills at what times for combo finishers and fields, etc.

Except, you clearly didn’t do research. I remember the thread. You were told to go axe/mace because as a warrior you would have full fury uptime and you didn’t need to use axe 4. Axe 5 is useless since it does worse damage against five targets that axe auto does against three. Your build does not require as much skill because you have vitality as a health buffer – it’s a logical conclusion to draw that the less defensive stats you stack, the more skill it requires since you are forced to go more towards active damage mitigation and less to soaking hits.

If you were dodging key attacks then you literally might as well just run berserker since you can survive with it – the crux of the issue however is that you had ascended valkyrie and you were adamant about using it despite being told to use other gear.

Do you have a better solution for what to do when everyone in your party consistently wipes but you? There’s still this problem with people dying. Your dps is 0 when you are dead. Most zerk pugs (in my experience) do not have the necessary gear/skill to pewpew down Alpha before taking condition damage.

Actually your DPS gradually drops, it doesn’t just crash to zero. Remember what those letters mean. Here is how you survive alpha – aegis the burning (you can do this three times in a row), cleanse the burning with purging flames for the fourth burn and then use virtue of resolve for cleanse or heal if party is low. You don’t need to go PVT or anything like that.

Different would be if by no mean a berserk could survive said content and requires the constant assistance of a support character, either buffing with aegis, vigor and cleanse or a control character to keep his rotation up to interrupt un-dodgeable attacks.

That’s one of the worst ideas I’ve heard recently. Let’s remove the trinity then add it again for no reason. No, the whole fun of GW2 is you don’t need to have specific classes to beat content.
