Personally, I think it would be good for the economy if low level blues and greens had a purpose, because right now everyone outlevels them and they become vendor trash. Higher level blues and greens stick around longer and thus keep a little value.
Value of lower level gear going up would be good for the economy, because it would make crafting possibly profitable. Sadly, it would make it harder for players that just want to buy their gear on the AH, but it would turn them toward crafting to make their gear for cheaper and possibly make a few silver on the side by selling their extra crafts.
If lower level gear doesn’t have the same odds as higher level gear, it just means that lower level gear becomes that much more useless, people have less reason to even list it on the AH, and new players/alts find it hard to get any gear off of the AH because of a lack of supply. While anything below level 80 blues and greens will go down in value, the max level gear will go up that much more. Imagine everyone buying up all the level 80 blues and greens just to salvage them. Their value will skyrocket, which may or may not be good for the economy. It may be good for max level characters that can sell their gear on the AH for a good profit now, but for everyone below max level, it won’t be good, in my opinion.
Overall, I’m hoping it is even across all blue and green gear.
So, we know that Essences of Luck drop won’t be based on the Salvage Kit quality.
My question is, will the drop be based off of the level of the gear salvaged?
Will be people be able to salvage low level gear (blues and greens) and have just the same odds of salvaging a EoL than someone salvaging higher level gear?
What you would like most may not be the best financial choice for the game.
Definitely not good for casual players who may not be online at prime time to be able to get the event done.
Yeah, I noticed that too when my mission reward medal ended up below my mini-map.
This is my biggest complaint about the new update.
These invasions are cool, but alerting the entire server to which zone to teleport to only leads to massive zergs and people missing out on content because they don’t have a permanent speed buff.
If more than one zone was invaded, it would spread the content out among the players and there wouldn’t be massive zergs.
I also REALLY HATE that the invasions only happen on 25+ zones, because it means that new players, or low-level alts cannot participate in this event. I like jumping around on my characters and leveling alts during events, but I cannot do it because most of my alts are 30- and most of the invaded zones end up being 40+ because of the 25+ requirement.
I like going to other zones for these invasions, but it’s a pain in the butt to scurry around and try to get anything accomplished when you have the majority of players on the server all together at the same place.
Let’s get things straight. The only people that complained that the updates were too easy were the hardcore max geared guild players.
Look who is enjoying the new content!
Today was the first time I’ve got to get in-game and try out the Election content.
I tried out the first tier of Candidate Trials and I have to say that it was an irritating, stressful time.
Trying to run around and kill the people stealing the loot, while you have numerous other people spawning and attacking you, with the helper NPC dying immediately and not being useful at all.
From playing it a few times, and reading a few tips online, this is my conclusion:
1) You have to group. Sorry casual players that may not be in a guild or may not group up that often.
OR
2) You must have the right class. If your class can’t AOE/Might spike damage groups of mobs, then you have no chance.
This content should be solo’able, and it should be possible with more than just a few classes.
And it’s an achievement that may have to be gotten to complete a meta-achievement for an event that isn’t likely to happen again in the future, unlike holiday events.
If people want a challenge, add a hard-mode option to the start of it.
It shouldn’t be this hard. It shouldn’t require grouping. It shouldn’t require a specific style of class.
I did not have fun.
I just got to the story mission to kill Zhaitan and it says I need 4 other players to come with me to do it.
I’ve asked on the map for help and nobody is willing to help.
So, I just can’t complete the story then?
do you get 5 new lives each day or just 5 lives for the entire month?
I kind of skipped the upgrades because I was thinking I’d lose them when I die.
Do you keep the upgrades if you lose a life? How about if you get game over?
another question: do you get 5 lives each day?
I wish a lot more things were account-wide, because it’d make sense.
Jumping Puzzles are already account-wide because the achievement is account-wide. Why can’t other exploration things be account-wide?
If one of your characters explores 100% of the game, why should all your other characters have to find the same exact areas again?
Dyes are also one of those things. Crafting bank is account-wide, why isn’t Dye bank? Would it really ruin the market that much? I don’t think so.
I was exploring the Mount Maelstrom zone when I happened upon a fire elemental event. After beating the elemental, a portal appeared. Awesome! I went into it and found this area far off from where I was, and to my surprise, it was a Jumping Puzzle!
I love the placement and how to get to this Jumping Puzzle.
So, I started climbing up the huge tree. I got to a tricky part where I had to jump across small lilly pads. I went for a jump, hit something, and fell to my death.
Sadly, there was no warp point within the Jumping Puzzle area, so I had to warp back to where I saw the portal, but by the time I got back to the area, the portal was gone.
I love the whole idea of this Jumping Puzzle, but I don’t think it’s fair that there isn’t some way to get revived within it’s area. I’ve encountered other Jumping Puzzles that will revive you if you fall to your death.
Please make sure more of these Jumping Puzzles have resurrection helpers within them. Booting someone out, forcing them to wait till the Elemental event triggers again, and then possibly die again (I’ve died twice) really ruins the experience for the player.
Going into the update, I thought we were going to have full control over which dailies we wanted to do.
When the update went live, I noticed the only control I had over my dailies was that I could pick 5 of the 10 options for dailies.
Every time, there is some dailies I just don’t want to do. Today, I wasn’t even able to come up with 5 I could realistically do. So I got 3 dailies to 100% and will not receive anything for my work today.
We should have more than 10 options. Give us 15. At least if there are a few that I will never take, I should have enough to choose 5 ones I can pull off in the hour, hour’n’half, I have to play.
I’m with you. Had it happen to me just now. (30 minutes ago) with 95% of my dailies completed.
I see you’re in a similar situation as I am.
You suggest an 1-2 hour grace period, I suggest no reset at all for those with any progress towards their dailies.
Players have less control over what hour of the day they can play the game. They shouldn’t be penalized for playing around the reset period.
I was playing a few minutes ago, and all my dailies were reset. I had 4/5 completed and 80% completed when it happened.
“It’s been that way since the very beginning.”
Well, it needs to change.
People who have completed their dailies, and people who haven’t progressed any on their dailies should have their dailies reset at 7:00PM EST each day.
The people who have made progression on their dailies in any form, even if it’s just 1%, should not have their dailies reset at 7:00PM EST each day.
I don’t see why this can’t be done, and I don’t see any harm coming from it. I spent a few hours doing my dailies, and had it all taken away because I was playing at the wrong time of day, I guess. There should be no punishment for playing the game at a certain hour of the day. This needs to change.
what is the lowest level you can use them at?
so, these utility infusions couldn’t really be used by lower levels to help level faster then?
What use is the Increased Experienced gained by 20% ones if you have to be such a high level to get gear with infusion slots?
Oh and Dagger/Dagger is great. The others, not so much.
Played a little more today. Stayed in earth form the entire time and it was a lot better. I guess the extra toughness from the 5pt passive trait really helps a lot. Also, took the 10pt 50% life earth barrier trait and it helps too.
Not so fragile, and I’m doing a lot better.
I’ve played Engineer to 40. Played Ranger to 30. Played Guardian to 20. Elementalist to 22 has been excruciatingly tough.
Each event, I choose one of my alts and focus on that character throughout the event.
This event, it was my Elementalist. I’ve gone from 1-22 over the past few days of the break, and am about to give up on playing the character.
I have 10 points into Earth Magic, a few in Water Magic.
1-on-1, I can take out most mobs, maybe with ~ 50% health left. The second a second mob joins along, which is so easy in this game, I get slaughtered.
It may be my gear. I’m wearing lower level gear, and with the scaling in the game, in a lv14 area, I may be wearing equivalent of level 10 gear.
The class works well in groups with great healing and aoe skills, but solo PvE is just not fun for me. Even with as much toughness as I can get with the Signet and 10 points into Earth Magic, my character still gets slaughtered.
I don’t know how much more I can take before I drop the class for the remainder of the event.

Win X games as a Y would have been nice to spice up the battlefield with non-Scout classes.
I hate the two PvP achievements, too.
Just have the snowflakes go up and down, and you’ll have mario 64 2.
didn’t have much trouble with them in human 1-15, but most had skritt not toys
I could tell my elementalist was running faster than every other person, so signet of air must have been working.
This is really good stuff.
Some issues with Snowball Mayhem:
- Stopper achievement requires that you let the enemy get the present (i.e., deliberately play badly), or encourages players to let their present-carrying teammates die so the enemy can pick it up and advance their own achievement. Not a nice mechanic at all.
- When I’m on the “red team” my teammates are wearing red, I’m wearing blue, the enemy is wearing blue, the enemy name is red, and my teammates’ name is blue. Make up your mind, already. Is it so hard to make the colours match? Add the fact that the game changes players to different teams after each match, and I spent the first 20 seconds of every round trying to figure out if I should kill the present carrier or help him. How about making the red team wear red and have red tags, and making the blue team wear blue and have blue tags? Failing that, make it so that every player sees his team as “blue” and the enemy team as “red”.
- Pretty much every class is useless compared to scout, especially heavy gunners. Gunners are slow, have no chance of catching up to other players, their weapons don’t have enough range, etc.. The shield is nice if the team is trying to hold the present spawn but, due to the “stopper” achievement, it’s generally preferable to let the enemy get the gift and then kill them, which makes scouts preferable. In fact, 3 or 4 scouts can stealth the present carrier until he’s out of rendering range of the enemy.
- The squad display doesn’t actually show the players in your squad. If you get far enough from your teammates, they disappear from the list, to the point of only your name being displayed (ex., if you’re chasing the present carrier to the enemy spawn and all your team is near your spawn).
- Knockdown duration is too long. A snowball enemy can basically keep you stunlocked from full HP until you die, because he can re-stun you before you even have a chance to dodge. Losing control of your character for 15 seconds is not fun gameplay; in fact, it’s not gameplay at all.
- A lot of the map is wasted. It would be nice if there were some floating platforms between the two spawns, for example, so that players have a risky but viable “shortcut” when they need to run from one spawn to the other to intercept the enemy present carrier.
It took WoW how many years to add pet battling?
Polymock would require a complete revamp of the mini pet system, something I feel could easily take a year of hard effect to accomplish.
The game has been out 6 months. Be patient.
Unlike the halloween update, where most of the skins were pretty cool looking, I feel many of skins this time around aren’t as cool in a mature, I want to look awesome, way.
Popcap riffle is one of them.
I can confirm proximity is important, not who opens the present. Anyone nearby, close by, will have a present waiting for them, too.
I guess if people want to pay $40 for the 4 minis 100% no RNG, then ArenaNet should allow them to.
I thought I got it all until I found a lone tree near one of the capitals.
There is a wooden wall piece attached to a rock wall that won’t be breakable, but don’t worry about it.
I don’t care for minipets, so if I choose to make two of them, I will likely put them on the AH.
Got the achievement as well without taking out that wall part.
No chance of survival in the middle with 10 players running around targeting any opposing player in sight. 1 on 1, up to skill if I survive, 10 on 1, knocked out faster than I can get one character to 75% health. No chance.
I wanted to try it out to get some achievements, but I don’t think I want to play it again.
The entire opposing team went scout, set in one big zerg in the middle where the gifts drop, and wiped any group that came close.
Half the team dropped, leaving roughly 4 vs. 10 in the center. No chance to win.
150 to 500 or something.
You need a competitive guild group to do well in it. Meaning everyone that isn’t hardcore pvp can’t get the achievements.
Teams should be limited to 5 people max. Scout class shouldn’t have as many advantages over the other two classes.
I guarantee you it won’t be here before 5PM their time, 8PM EST, because that is normally when they push updates.
I’d like to focus on leveling a class I can take into WvW and world events and help people.
After Lost Shores event, where I was a low level 20 Ranger, I could only really help the group with AOE regeneration spots, reviving fallen allies, and summoning spirits for 60 seconds that could give allies a 30% chance of gaining a benefit.
I don’t see myself leveling any faster in the future, to be able to fully experience these world events at full level, so I’d like to make the most out of it, and find the class that can be the most supportive when scaled to 80.
My first thought is elementalist atuned to water.
Perhaps even the necromancer that has some wells that can turn conditions into boons for allies.
Then there is the Guardian who can block projectiles and perhaps other stuff.
Which class plays the support role the best? and more importantly, why?
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/black-lion-trading-company-weekend-sales
“The Black Lion Trading Company is celebrating the biggest shopping day of the year with a Black Friday sale of their own.
This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, be sure to check out the Gem Store for limited-time discounts on some of your favorite items. Each day three different items will be discounted up to 70% off! But don’t wait, because each sale only lasts 24 hours.
You’ll have to log into the game and open the Gem Store (default key is “O”) to find out exactly which items are on sale each day. Happy shopping!"
What kind of sales would you like to see?
I’d like to see a sale on bank tabs, I still need to buy one more, and perhaps a sale on the price of unlocking extra bag slots for characters. These are like quality of life essentials for me.
It was really amazing to me how much a non-max level character could do in this event — almost everything!
This event really had a well-rounded list of activities, that suited very different playstyles. If you were a big PvEer, you could run around carving pumpkins, harvesting candy cane nodes, and opening haunted doors. If you were a big PvPer, Reaper’s Rumble and the Lunatic Inquisition were great player vs. player interaction mini-games. If you were looking for a challenge, you could try your best hand at the Mad King’s Clocktower jumping puzzle! If you just wanted to hang out with other players, you had costume brawling in the middle of Lion’s Arch and the the labyrinth in the Realm of the Mad King.
There wasn’t a single second in the last week where I didn’t have something festive to do. Seriously. And I played Guild Wars 2 more than I had in the month before.
This event speaks so much for the quality of products ArenaNet can produce, especially on a non-subscription Buy-to-Play platform. In my opinion, it outshines most content in other subscription-based Pay-to-Play MMOs.
I felt it was a little hard to get some of the rarer items. I opened up like 300 Trick or Treat bags and didn’t receive any recipes. I didn’t try my luck with opening of chests, but I did beat down Mad King thrice and didn’t get an exotic out of the chests.
But what I did get was so great. My character started the event at level 27, and ended the event at level 41. From running around the Labyrinth with other players over a few days, so many blue and green tier items dropped, and it gave me the push needed to clean out all the extra storage I had filled up. I got some cool Tonics, which I will likely not use that much in the future, but are cool holiday souvenirs. I also have some craft items, which, if that time comes, I can perhaps try my hand at crafting some of those cool Halloween items — thank goodness they can be crafted year round!
Home run ArenaNet, you really hit it out of the park. I cannot wait till Christmas.
Every single penny I’ve put into the game has been worth it, and this event only made that even more noticeable.
I was hoping these tonics would be Forgable into chests, but no dice.
I don’t believe so. As long as you have the halloween crafting items, you can craft it anytime of the year.
I’d like to know this, too. I have about 6 of each kind of halloween tonic.
The ones used for the chest recipe are the ones you get from the Black Lion chests, not the halloween ones.
I want to wait till the last stage of the event is shown, but so far, it’s been f-ing amazing.
Horrible advertisement for an amazing event.
I also got some level 45 stuff.
I am level 39 and just getting greens. The whole time that I’ve been opening up chests in the labyrinth I’ve only got greens, too.
I don’t think exotics even are available until after a certain level, because I know greens didn’t start to drop until my character hit level 20.
