My game crashed 4-5 times in an hour and half time period. Doing random things. Even just running through Lion’s Arch.

VERY IRRITATING on the HoT meta maps, where you’re not guaranteed to be able to get back onto your original map.

Crashed when patriarch was at 10% hp left, never got the chest. Crashed yesterday when Chak Gerent was almost killed, never got the achievement for completing that lane. Just really sucky.

Airship Cargo parts random?

matthewr.3980

I need to get a bunch of airship parts from airship cargo so I can buy the collectibles from the merchant, but every airship cargo I open only gives me 3 airship parts. Sometimes, some very rare times, they give me 25 airship parts.

Is there something that controls how often they give 25 airship parts? Like progress of the meta event? I’ve tried at different times and not noticed a difference.

But dangit, even with 80+ crowbars, it’s gonna take me almost all of them to buy just 1 collectible that costs 300 airship parts.

I enjoy dungeons. They are fun. I still haven’t completed every path in every dungeon, and I want to do it for the Achievements. I also would love to come back to dungeons to farm some tokens and buy some cool skins.

The new system doesn’t affect me, because I never did dungeons for the gold. But it will inherently affect me, because there will be a lot less people doing dungeons.

I already find it difficult to find groups for dungeons because I’ve never run some paths and I may not berserker gear on all my characters, and those seem to be requirements for a lot of people that farm dungeons.

But I have to realize that less people is less people and it’ll only make it harder to find a group.

I don’t know why dungeons lost support. I guess as a more casual MMO starts to amp up the competitiveness, it needs to toss aside some of the casual elements.

But I don’t see why Dungeons, Fractals, and Raids can’t get along and occupy a different goal for people.

Okay, here’s an option. Convert all the dungeons into raids. Make them scale 1-9 so you don’t need agony resistance, and make them drop the dungeon tokens. Then just remove dungeons completely.

I feel anything would be better than the proposed system.

S2, No Tricks Achievement no credit

That’s weird, because the first time I completed the part, it was with my Warrior, and that unlocked the achievements.

And the second time I did it, it was with my Elementalist, and I was able to get the ‘hit 5 inquest with a single blast’ and ‘beat the inquest with the bull without ejecting’ achievements no issues whatsoever.

But then I started the chapter over again with the Elementalist and killed all the Inquest without using any consoles, and didn’t get the achievement.

Then I logged into my Engineer and killed all the Inquest without using any consoles, and didn’t get the achievement.

So I was able to get 2 achievements on my Elementalist’s first time in there.

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

Because the daily is supposed to try encourage you to do more than just farm Silverwastes while jumping to a few world bosses.

But I’m not max level and in the Silverwastes farming. I’m leveling a character from 0-80. As I level up, I go onto other zones and do Hearts/Events/Vistas in those areas, and move onto higher level zones to do the same.

Like most players do.

And yet in this entire 1-80 process, it’s never natural to complete the dailies. It always requires me to go somewhere different, do something different, just because of the daily.

Now, I can afford to chop down a tree I run past, or mine a node I run past, complete events I see on the map, or help take down a champion I see others fighting. I can do this stuff while leveling up.

But I’m not going to stop what I’m doing, travel to another zone, just for the daily. And likely have to travel to three completely different zones just to get the daily done.

Not going to happen. Not every single day.

I’m just going to keep leveling and doing the same old stuff. Having fun either way. Just not gaining any laurels.

Maybe Dailies should change if you’re level 80, but to impose specific restrictions on ALL players, level 0-79, because you don’t want level 80s to just stand around and farm… that’s overkill.

Suggested PvE System:

Complete 5/10 of these to earn Daily PvE prize –
- Chop Trees 20 times
- Mine Nodes 20 times
- Harvest food 20 times
- Complete 5 Events
- Sell 25 items to PvE vendors
- Revive 15 allies/npcs
- Salvage 15 items
- Kill 10 different kinds of enemies
- Kill 25 enemies under water
- Dodge enemy attacks 25 times

You never have to change it. And it rewards players for doing what they normally do (pre-max level) in PvE.

I’ve just come back to GW2 in the last two weeks after getting excited about the upcoming expansion. I’m enjoying myself, but one of things I’ve noticed is that I never get any of my dailies done in my everyday playtime. I’ll be lucky to get one of the three needed.

Take today’s dailies for instance:

PVE
Daily Ascalon Lumberer
Daily Plains of Ashford Event Completer
Daily Mystic Forger
Daily Shadow Behemoth

WvW
Daily WvW Tower Capturer
Daily WvW Camp Capturer
Daily WvW Big Spender
Daily Master of Ruins (WvW)

PvP
Daily PvP Capture
Daily Engineer winner (PvP)
Daily Thief Winner (PvP)
Daily PvP Defender

I like that depending on what you enjoy doing, whether it’s PvE, PvP, WvW, you can get rewarded for doing that, but the chosen PvE dailies are just too restrictive.

Daily Ascalon Lumberer

Why only Ascalon? Why do I only get rewarded when I’m chopping down trees in this one area of the world? Why should it matter which zone I am in chopping down trees? What if I’m leveling a Norn and I’m not usually in Ascalon? Am I going to go out of my way to travel to an Ascalon zone just to chop down trees and earn points towards my daily? No, I’m not going to.

Daily Plains of Ashford Event Completer

Why so strict? Why does it only reward me if I finish this one event? I’ll do a dozen events in the day, but the only one that counts towards my daily is this one event in this one zone in this one part of the world. Why? Why are the dailies forcing me to leave my normal leveling path and go to random places? How does that reward players for doing what they like to do?

Daily Mystic Forger

This seems so very random. I’ve only once or twice ever used the Mystic Forge. I think I combined a few christmas toys together to get something else. I haven’t gone after any precursors yet, so why would I ever want to use the Mystic Forge? And oh look, the only Mystic Forge is in a specific place, again, forcing me to leave my normal leveling area, and go somewhere else to do something I wouldn’t normally do, so that I can earn a daily reward.

Daily Shadow Behemoth

Much like the event completion reward, why do I only get rewarded for defeating this one boss? I’ll defeat all kinds of tough monsters each day, but only this one creature earns me the reward. Again, forcing me out of my normal area/s and to another place where I have to do a chore solely to get a daily reward.

Honestly, none of it is worth it to me. I thought Daily Rewards were supposed to reward you for what you do everyday. For cutting down trees, for mining, for completing events, for beating hard monsters, for reviving people; stuff you do regardless if there is a reward or not.

Daily Rewards, in this carnation, are irritations, they are chores, that force you to stop what you are doing, stop the progressing you’re making leveling an Alt or working towards your goals, and go to random necks of the world to do a single thing.

This can’t be what the developers designed to be like. I played the game before these changes and I earned my daily much more often and most of the time by just doing stuff I normally did anyways.

These new dailies are just stupid in my honest opinion.

PvE:
1) Things for Guilds to do in PvE in GUILD wars 2 -
There doesn’t seem to be enough things for Guilds to do in a game with Guild in it’s name.

2) Ways to make lower level zones more interesting for max-level characters -
If we want players to continue to appreciate more than just Lion’s Arch and the max level zones, things need to be added to lower level zones so that players would continue to go back to them after they level past them.

3) How to make it more interesting to work towards Ascended/Legendary -
I think many players blow these items off because they either take too much work or it’s not needed for much of PvE content. I’d rather them not be easier to make or for PvE content to get harder, but for the process itself to be improved so it is more interesting for players to work towards them.

More Account-Wide mechanics

in Suggestions

matthewr.3980

To sum up what I spoke about in the video:

- Map Exploration
Without removing all experience gained from exploring zones on each character, Waypoints and Points of Interest would be account-wide, while Skill Points, Vistas, and Renown Hearts would stay per character. This would allow all characters on the account to take advantage of the combined amount of exploration between the characters, and not force each character to explore every area over again to have easy travel between them.

- Crafting
All characters should have access to all crafting disciplines any character has started working on. So, I don’t have to log into my Weaponsmith to make a weapon, then log out and log into my Armorsmith to make the armor, and then log into my Chef to make the food buff items. I can log into whichever character needs the items and craft them themselves. It also means that if you delete a character that got a crafting discipline to a certain rank, you don’t lose all the progress of that crafting discipline.

- Super Adventure Box and in general
I absolutely hate that even though I unlocked all the upgrades in World 1 with one of my characters, and got the achievement, that each and every character I want to take into SAB have to grind baubles and buy all the upgrades again.

In general, if one of my characters put in the work to unlock the achievement, all of my characters should be able to access the final result from it. Map exploration waypoints, crafting disciplines, super adventure box upgrades, etc.

SAB difficulty in future

Let’s be honest. They’ve already given the ultimate easy mode to players in the form of the Infinite Life Coin. Suddenly you don’t have to worry about dying, because you will never lose progress, and you won’t run out of baubles to buy Life Coins.

So regardless of how difficult it gets in the future, players already have a cash shop answer for it.

Here is where you’re wrong OP. He reached his target audiance. SAB is a game with in a game. Anet obviously gave him artistic licence to develop content geared toward players with a higher skill level.

Yeah, because World 1 really stressed the skill-based gameplay with instant deaths and unforgiving puzzles.

Personally, I feel the original design has been lost. Is World 2 not fun at any point? No. But the original design of a fun and in my honest opinion casual experience has been set aside for a difficult and skill-based challenge. World 2 is a stark contrast to World 1. It requires a lot more skill, a lot better timing, and has no forgiving features whatsoever.

Do I look forward to World 3 now that the design has been changed? Sadly, no. I know what to expect from World 3, difficulty and skill-based wise, and it isn’t something I’m interested in.

And I think the GW2 developers will see a huge dip in participation for World 2.

And, as if enduring all that wasn’t enough, I reach the boss. This guy is supremely annoying. Things start off fine, just hit his projectiles back at him, since nothing else works. (Note to developers: Making boss fights that render nearly our entire inventory pointless is stupid and not challenging in the slightest, just more cheap artificial difficulty)

I get the boss to half health, and he decides to be a complete jerk. He uses a cheap charge move that you can’t outrun, and even if you dodge, he just changes directions and hits you anyway, turning the fight into a battle of attrition. Make sure you have 2-3 Continue Coins for this part, because that’s the only way I managed.

And even after that, the boss goes “I’m not left-handed, I’m a frakking dragon!”

Even now, I am still stuck there, waiting, cooling off, because I basically had no idea what to do and just kept dying to all the lightning… if this is an example of what future levels will be like, than I don’t want it anymore. Just wanted to finish the levels and get what little story there is for this, and I can’t even do that with out more misery. On Infantile Mode, of all things.. sigh.

I’m still not buying that stupid Infinite Coin. Now I’m beginning to think that the people arguing that the coin essentially means pay-to-win might actually be right, in a manner of speaking. This is how bad that last zone is.

This was my experience, too. First half of the battle was alright. A few stupid mistakes and learning how to time the reflection back at the boss.

When he starts to dakitten you, expect to lose a heart.

And there is virtually zero indication of what to do in the dragon form fight.

I beat Zone 2….woo?

I think I spent 300 baubles buying about 34 lives that it took to beat it.

Does it feel good? Not at all. I’m just happy to have it behind me.

I won’t be doing Zone 2 again. Ever. It’s not fun.

It’s the worst time I’ve ever had playing Guild Wars 2. Which is a shame because World 1 was some of the most fun I’ve had playing GW2.

Things I hated about W2Z2:

- Ninjas were very irritating. Especially the sword ninja. It isn’t fair that they can run into you and deal you damage (and knock you back, possible to your death) while attacking you. Slingshot/Whip is useless against sword ninja because of how fast he runs/dodges. Star ninja isn’t a huge problem like the sword ninja is.

- Too many ways to fall to your death. In a city built in the sky, it seems really evil to have almost every enemy knock you back.

- Dart Traps are ridiculous. They shoudn’t auto-kill you, period. This is supposed to be fun, not infuriating. Dart Traps should knock you back and deal 1 heart. Anything more than that and someone can spend their 5 lives in a few seconds if they aren’t insanely careful. Dart Traps + Ninjas is just not fun. It’s mean, cruel, and shouldn’t be in at the same places at any point.

- Jumping puzzles in the sky, worst concept ever. Let’s give the players a huge jumping puzzle that they have to make it across an area, and if they fall at any point, they instantly die.

- Too much instantly die. The entire World 1 have one instance where you could fall to your death (zone 2, getting to the secret store under the trees). World 2 has them around every corner. With ninjas, jumping puzzles, flying fish all trying to knock you around, it’s uncalled for and simply unfair to the players.

- So few baubles, yet a need for bomb/slingshot for the entirety of the zone. You can say that there are baubles in chests and digging spots, but digging spots are impossible without using a guide and chests require you to carry the key to the chest while attacking ninjas and dodging dart traps, while not falling to your death and losing the key permanently. Sword ninjas give 5 baubles each, but I was wasting 5 baubles with the slingshot just to kill them.

- Because there are too few baubles scattered across the world, almost all the enemies drop a single bauble, making it very hard to regain hearts. You might as well just suicide to get your hearts back. And shops aren’t as available because they are hidden so much in this zone that you really have few options to refill your hearts.

If I had to rate the difficulty of the zone on an 1-10.

World 1 (all of it) – 4
W2Z2 – 20

It’s seriously that much more difficult. If you have any doubt about wanting to try it — don’t. It’s not worth your time and effort. You’ll just end up rage quitting and being mad for the rest of the day.

Beat Zone 1! Dart traps... Really? :(

in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

Posted by: matthewr.3980

matthewr.3980

With the recent update, I logged back into Super Adventure Box after a few days of break. I had hit a wall previously and wanted to see if I could get past it with the changes.

Good news! I beat World 2 Zone 1!

So, I was playing Zone 2, and thinking to myself, “this is easier than zone 1 by a lot.”

Until I hit the dart traps part.

It is so infuriating.

You can’t slow down, because you have 5 ninjas on your butt, and yet you’re supposed to notice these traps that are the same exact color as the wall they are attached to? On the fly, while running and dodging all the ninjas, you’re supposed to notice each and every of them? Unlikely.

I got past the dojo where you get the glove. What came next made me rage quit just like the rapids did in W2Z1 pre-nerf.

An entire dojo of dart traps where you have to push blocks around without getting hit by any of them. It’s impossible to not lose a handful of lives the first time you go through it. It’s just impossible to not do that because the dart traps are spread out all over the place. I thought the ninjas chasing you everywhere and knocking you off things to your death was irritating, but taking baby steps to arrange blocks only to get hit by a dart trap from across the room….it’s too much.

There is nothing in World 1, combined all together, that comes anywhere close to the difficulty of this puzzle. Nothing. Nothing in the game comes close to being this difficult, minus tribulation mode.

I really thought it was going to be as fun as World 1. That’s the thing. I had a ton of fun with World 1. World 2 has just been aggravation, irritation, anger, stress, and no fun at all, sadly.

I waited impatiently for the changes to, what I thought was the entire World 2, so I could have fun playing through it. Sadly, the changes to Zone 1 only build up your confidence to be skewered by Zone 2.

I don’t know how much more of this I can take. I’m wasting bauble bubbles on coins to keep trying, but if it isn’t fun, it isn’t fun.

Is this patch supposed to be a joke?

Anyone else see the difference? Having infinite lives suddenly makes death trivial, making a stressful part of the game (running out of lives) suddenly stress-free.

World 1, there were literally no auto-death falls. The worst was falling into green goo and your life slowing going down. From the get-go of World 1, you’re thrown into rapids that will auto-kill you. It’s not forgiving whatsoever for mistakes, and since mistakes cost baubles to buy life coins, it’s frustrating.

I don’t think there is a single “you must have this item to go further” block in World 1. World 2 seems to be littered with them.

Good job designers?

400 baubles to continue?

Pretty much they removed all the baubles scattered across the world and stashed them in random nooks where most people won’t find them.

FUN! jk :/

I tried it again. This time, I had bombs to hit some of the alligators or turtles that are unrealistically placed too far away to hit with a stick. Got a little further before I rage quit at the rapids.

Did the flag thing in the hub for fun, but I’m done trying to make this world work. Too ridiculous. Simply ridiculous.

And I’ve done World 1 plenty of times, and did Mad King’s Clocktower multiple times.

Right now, I’m just wasting my baubles on replay coins.

Ridiculous.

My main complaint is that World 2 requires too many of the weapons from World 1 to complete.

Since the achievements are account-wide, I jumped into World 2 with a fresh character only to be stopped multiple times because I didn’t have the right weapon and that there was absolutely no way to progress without the right weapon.

Grinding, more grinding, more grinding, just to get the Candle, then the Slingshot, then the Torch.

I don’t remember there being any instances of a hard block in World 1 where if you didn’t have a specific weapon, you just could not proceed.
