Topics like this remind me of the good old days when we believed in the Manifesto.

Because Chrystin Cox, Monetization Producer, person in charge of the gem store, and former employee of Nexon, made it that way. When Nexon acquired 15% of NCSofts stock and became a majority share holder, they put Mrs. Cox in charge of the GW2 gem store to protect their investment.
A couple weeks later, certain aspects of the game start changing, and not for the better. Mrs. Cox first announcement was to change the way dyes worked. They would no longer be unlocked across all characters on your account, but rather on individual characters. Furthermore, dyes were now soulbound. Unidentified dyes were still tradeable, but once you identified a dye, the dye was soulbound. At the exact same time this announcement was made, dye packs showed up in the gem store.
There was a massive backlash, and eventually Mrs. Cox caved in and compromised and allowed unidentified dyes to be tradeable. Later ANet "accidentally" increased the drop rate of unidentified dyes in an attempt to justify nerfing the drop rate to even lower than what it used to be.
Does anyone even buy dye packs? I’m curious as to whether this strategy worked or if its just making the game that much more unappealing.
Translation: ANet using their cox to r*ape the playerbase in order to line their slimey, filthy greedy pockets
They said they were originally going to be account wide. Anet is fickle like that.

oh stop being mean to OP - he didn’t spoit, the leader did and as such, the entire guild should not have to suffer. *rolls eyes*
Your logic simply doesn’t hold water. You just don’t want it, despite anyone trying to resolve your issues with it.
I don’t want it for the reasons that ANet’s said that they don’t want it, and I like ANet’s reasons more.
Also, I can acknowledge your points but still disagree, and the fact that you’re getting personal confirms to me that my judgment is correct.
Anet also said there would be no scaling with gear… then pop out comes fractals with ascended. Its highly likely that we could see raid style content in the future because to be frank it just doesn’t offer large groups anything to do… and no events dont count when an event can be zerged down into easy mode and make the accomplishment of beating it nothing more then oh ya I helped 40 people beat on a dragon for some loots was easy mode…. And you know its true lol.
Just because Anet said something in the past does not mean it will hold true for the entire games future.
Agreed. ANet has a history of lying to the playerbase. Why should anything they say hold any water????
Not this again.
It is still the case that ANet has neaver said that there would be no scaling with gear. It’s quite the opposite. They said there would be scaling with a low power curve. I have yet to see a place where they lied, unless you willingly choose to interpret the facts that they are lying and lying again.
They already explained why Ascended was released when it was, in the way it was, and have already stated it was a mistake.

You DO REALIZE that “lying” is consciously hiding the truth from others – correct? They’ve done this many times with their “stealthed” nerfs to things in game. Open world drops ring any bells???
Thanks, I thought that would brighten up our day

I have a solution to all of our problems. It would appear that all end-game – well, the ENTIRE GAME, is built on RNG. Now, if we were to pray to the RNG gods, I’m sure they would grant our petitions and smite our oppressors. So, my advice to you all is to recite this prayer and hope for the best:
Let us bow our heads.
Our father, who art in random, only ANet knows his name, thy dungeons come, our Fractals run, in WvWvW, as it is in End-Game.
Give us this day, our Badges of Honor & forgive us our rolls, as we forgive those who roll against us.
Lead us not to a failed mystic forge, but deliver us when we crit, for thine is the true boss, the judgement of our ascended gear, forever and ever…amen.
@GhastlyArmor:
Basically it’s like this:
1) ANet lied to us on so many accounts it’s sickening
2) People were herded like cattle to fractals
3) ANet fancies themselves to be like EA and this game is on a downward spiral and will suffer the same fate as SWTOR if something isn’t done (yes it was an intentional reference to that song ROFLMMFAO)
4) People are pissssssssed-the-phuck off
5) Save up your RL money for the store to buy shiney gems.
6) Reserved for a future tirade....

Honestly I can’t believe they didn’t even do this with open world content... Why isn’t there a "Claw of The Shatterer" dagger I can get ONLY by killing him?
I believe that ANet, in the beginning, wanted content to be for everyone. But plans change, promises are broken or denied ever being made, and now there are fractals, the endless grind, DR, any hope that ever existed has been trapped in a jar at the bottom of some bottomless void somewhere....
HELLO!!! It’s a thief = invisible??? Rogue = invisible. So if you want to remove that ability, we can go with that line of logic and just remove everyone’s abilities in pvp and then just go around hitting each other with nerf bats - oh wait, ANet already did that to us and see how that ended up...
Or possibly in hex. That is, 00 to FF. I do hope they will find a way to do this however, in which case an extra F would allow for stacks of up to 4095, but I do think if they do increase it they only allow for stacks up to 999 for display reasons.
Hex is just an alternative way to write the numbers down, in the computer they are stored in bytes using binary regardless. 00-FF, which corresponds to 0-255, is still 256 combinations that completely fill 1 byte. Adding any new information to that, such as an extra value, or 4 as you’re suggesting, would still require a new byte (unless they already work with the numbers on bit level, which I’d find rather impractical).
I have a Masters in IT Info Sec so I feel for you with the numbering system. And when have they EVER done anything here that was practical?
There could be, but I wouldn’t count on it since it does give a bad impression to players. On the server I was on, it was pretty desolate and we were ranked pretty low on WvW due to our population. When Anet took action against the bots/farmers, there was noticeable increase in server moral. We weren’t known anymore as the "bot" server, and activity increased.
As far as I can see, Anet gathers a lot of data and statistics before doing bans on bot types. The old bots no longer work right and get caught pretty quickly. So it’s just a matter of time before Anet does a ban wave of these new bots and fix the exploits they use.
Well duh! It’s not like they’re going to admit to it lmao!!
I will say again, the gold farming business is over $1 bill annually...
@kenshinakh,
Who knows, perhaps a lot of the gaming companies are in league with the gold farmers and split the profits??? Would explain a lot of the apathy that goes on...
Well if A-net wants people to play them zones they have to do something about the reward for being there, atm it’s just a lot easier to run Fractals instead.
I believe that that’s ANet’s intention, herd everyone into the fractals leaving all the other zones desolate. But this wouldn’t be the first time that ANet screwed things up nor will it be the last....
(h)arathi hinterlands - hmmm... now where have I heard those 2 names before...?
Let’s not forget that NCSoft is out of South Korea and well:
Korean high court’s 2010 ruling means that exchanging virtual currency for real money is legal in this country although subject to taxation.
And this:
The PRC Government decreed in 2009 that: "The virtual currency, which is converted into real money at a certain exchange rate, will only be allowed to trade in virtual goods and services provided by its issuer, not real goods and services."
Oh and this:
Gold farming has been discussed as a tool for socioeconomic development by the World Bank and University of Manchester professor Richard Heeks. The money involved is small enough to flow easily from many first-world players, and large enough to make a difference to the people doing the work. Gold farmers receive a higher percentage of sale revenue from their work than do farmers of fair trade coffee.
I think that speaks volumes...
So it’s a bit bigger than gamers QQ’ing on forums. I.e., it’s supported and encouraged.... Don’t ppl study world econ anymore???
LMAO!! @OP, Like you think that ANet can ACTUALLY ban the ppl on those 2 sites. Which brings to beg the question - What were YOU doing there???
Plus, let’s not forget, gold farming, as of 2009 was, and I’m sure is much more now, a $1.8 billion worldwide business. Think again if you thought it was some little nickle and dime operation...

I’m glad that there’s so much love going on here in these forums.... reminds me of another trinity MMO that’s quite famous...
Oh you’re forgetting the fact that ANet nerfed into oblivion the open world drops and that they exaggerated DR to the nth degree forcing you to do what would take 5 min into 5 years. Did I miss anything? Oh and this game herds you into their store to buy things. This game reminds me of this:

As you shouldn’t. I mean honestly, is there any point? Grind, grind, grind, grind, grind... Might as well make coffee....
This is my biggest issue with Arenanet. They release content, content, content, but much of it is riddled with bugs, and there are still bugged traits and runes which directly affect the competitiveness of unconventional builds in an already narrow meta.
It has only been 3 months, but when flaws with character development in the form of broken traits and runes, poor balancing decisions (meaning viability of weapon-sets and builds; not class balance, as I believe they are working on that) seem to be taking a backseat to the implementation of new buggy pve content.
Having said all that, the fact remains, Arenanet has developed a beautiful product with pretty solid gameplay. That alone will probably keep them alive, but they won’t be getting anymore of my cash. However, I’ll be taking advantage of a free service until the servers go down.
Let’s hope they readjust some of their priorities to include fixing rather than loading us up with mediocre content so I can start monetarily supporting the company again.
They’re walking in the footsteps of the EA debacle with SWTOR. So many bugs and problems, I can see them walking across my screen. I guess if the "devs" knew what they were doing, we’d have fewer problems or maybe ppl just need to SPEND MORE MONEY in the cash shop as an incentive for them to fix their crap.
You might have to take ownership of the .exe or the entire game folder in order to do it.
Fair enough I should’ve done my research. They are still crap though.
As most of the things in this game are turning into…
Oh nothing too fancy... Maybe just have a death aura that surrounds me so whenever anyone/things comes within 50ft of me, falls down to the ground slowly writhing in pain and anguish then finally turning into a giant black mass of puss
Yeah... this game is just one big money sink - give us a break already.
It’s Halloween all over again. I have nearly 10 of each of the other minipets and have yet to see a single mini Snowman. Bought 10$ more of gems for some more boxes again tonight and this time it was just a ton of tonics and presents (a.k.a sweaters socks and hats).
Meanwhile, my friend has ~20 of each pet and can’t send me a single snowman because they’re account bound. I’m not spending another cent on gems because I know I won’t get it if after 50$ I haven’t already gotten it.
Is there any plan to make these pets from the boxes tradable? Because this is a bit obnoxious.
Ho Ho Ho, looks like you got "snow-balled" into spending more money for holdiday crap from ANet. I thought the idea was to spend rl money and get nice things and not repetitive, monotonous crap. My bad...
Have you ever thought that maybe your pets don’t like the name you’re choosing for them??
This has to do with the shifting magnetic poles the earth is experiencing right now. Be glad it’s close by – you could’ve ended up in Moscow :o
They’re cousins actually and well, uh, yeah, nuff said...
Well I just used 90 Ectos, 90 Mystic Coins, 90 Crystals and 90 Obsidian Shards and got a grand total of 10 Mystic Clovers, that’s 1 out 9 The game obviously hates me.
It’s a leprechaun conspiracy I tell you - they control all the clovers... lmao!!
We don’t have an off topic area on this dry board. We need to have one like every other normal forum does. So ppl can be silly and not dry and anal.
Thanks
:( Welcome to SWTOR all over again… This game is REALLY turning into one stinking piece of garbage…
I’m not a big fan about all the risen dead movies either - oh wait, wrong topic
Come on now. 4-leaf clovers are hard enough to find, now you expect to get the mystic ones any easier???
I believe that’s because the harpies and the assistant are on strike this week. Their respective unions are demanding higher wages. So, for now, the cattle are safe but there is no event. Perhaps in a week or so when the labour issues are worked out things will be back to normal. Until then, just hang tight
What you ran into was one of the very rare Ogre shamans. They have the ability to heal themselves. I believe they learned this from the Burning Legion – oh wait, wrong game…
It’s an issue of whether or not the shaman likes you. If you don’t respect the elements, then the shamans are just going to stand there and ignore your assets
That or it’s because she’s wearing 13 of them and we all know about THAT number...
Well, you see... uh.. it’s like this. You bought all those drinks and everyone got drunk and in the process some windows got smashed, part of the town burned down, etc... so they decided to remove all of your influence instead of sending you the bill which was in the millions. I hope this helped
I don’t think this jumping is really a major issue to be quite honest. In real life, you have spies who infiltrate and ppl who "sneak" in. Maybe your defense just needs to be a bit more vigilant
I can’t help but wonder if ANet and IGXE don’t have something worked out together...
I just love it when things in this game don’t work and somehow through mystic means point you over to buy something using rl money...
That’s a problem these days - I agree with fletch. Where I come from, we don’t sugar coat sh t, just say it to your face. And ppl get along well together. Not this total bllsh t PC (Piece of Crap) garbage - if you’re an as h l then I’m going to call you one - plain and simple
Buying gold, and 4 hours later you’ve got a max level toon, with full exotic gear... You can then go into WvW.
Isn’t this only slightly ridiculous. Giving people who buy the gold this advantage?
Um, you DO KNOW, that this game is PAY TO WIN - right?
Except that the items you can buy are only marginally better than the rest.
But the fact still remains
Slightly yes by 3% or so due to the game of the year awards and christmas. They did 15 days ago increase the server capacity that makes it seem like it as well.
But the truth is they have lost 65% of the population since the launch.
The locusts left in Sept.
WvW is stale in unless in T1 never a Q
Spvp and Tpvp are on total life support.
Then came Ascend gear - That lost 30% of the pop right there.
Now there is the loot downgrades the constant changing of the goal posts.
And frankly some of the worst management of a game from a design studio I have seen with the exception of TOR it is on par with Bioware right now.Revenue is being squeezed out of every non dungeon player. For some reason Anet went against what they thought and put the best gear and loot in one place and made it available at one place and gated the content. They then went out and killed open world loot to force people to buy gems to keep up with the dungeon runners.
What you see now is up upswing for holidays about 10% pop increase (returning players not the 3% new accounts) for a few days then people exodus again as they see Anet hasnt fixed the issues they left about.
It was the same with Halloween.
The game is in trouble yes. No not critically yet but I do predict that with the epic new content in FEB that there will be a F2P announcement to bring in new accounts and increase the revenue stream as they have bled the non dungeon runners dry.Open worlds are empty and barren and DE’s are solo or arent done. Really sad.
WvW - borderlands are always outmanned/breakout event constantly ready. Bad
- EB still manageable and fun at times but the only place to fight. Sad
Spvp -4 hours a day can you get a hot join match
Tpvp - dead - no one does them any more.
Dungeons - seems ok somewhat. Use the lfg site and map chat. Still non fractal is next to impossible to do.Yes they come back from this but it will take a significant effort and they must listen to the community instead of trying to silence them. Most people here want the best game possible but when the devs constantly attack you as a player you wonder why bother.
Numbers / graphs to support this?
Here ya go!
Sad panda face how unfortunate as I had hopes for this game... Oh well, chalk up another one to be flushed down the toilet of oblivion with the rest of the modern and recent games that just came out; SWTOR, TSW, TERA-BLE ONLINE, etc...
