If this were GW1 I would say no, but considering the skill system isn’t obnoxious in GW2 then why not? Would mean I could finally experience dungeons reliably.
I’d rather have a few skills done well that are all used frequnetly than a screen cluttered with ones that I will never, ever use.
@medohgeuh, you probably aren’t playing the same game. So much of GW2 is the experience you create for yourself.
If I weren’t interested in WvW and only wanted to do open world dungeons and PvE with guildmates and friends (no pugs) I would not be concerned with Ascended gear either.
Honestly, the only bad thing about the gear is that it affects WvW. Otherwise, it can be safely ignored.
Which says a lot considering we’re talking a game that’s heavily PvE centric, no?
I’m much like the OP and yet I still feel Guild Wars 2 is the closest thing these days to meeting all of our criteria. I don’t foresee this changing any time soon unless GW2 takes a turn for the worst (unlikely) and/or the sandbox MMO makes a mainstream return (even more unlikely).
I don’t care about legendaries, ascended, PvP or WvW. What I do care about is exploration and tinkering with builds while rolling in parties of two or three with friends conquering champions, dungeons, etc.. There’s plenty of challenge and fun to be had this way as far as I’m concerned.
Are there things I don’t like about GW2? Sure, but it’s not like any other game is perfect regardless of player count or platform.
Guild Wars 2 has become a cheap race for the next digital shiny, false rewards doled out for completing monotonous tasks.
It’s like operant conditioning.
Push the button, get a treat. There is no depth there any more, and it can barely be called a game.
When I read comments like this, I genuinely wonder if we’re even playing the same game because my experience has been quite different as mentioned above.
It’s less the game design and more the fact that the average gamer simply isn’t interested in exploration.
For those of us that are, though, GW2 is the first MMO in years to present us with a decent game world.
I’m in the camp of indifference so long as there will be another way to acquire the skins. The stats are irrelevant, I know how to dodge and time my attacks as I have a history of playing things that aren’t MMOs. :P
The karma reduction really hurts someone like me that uses it to buy fancy cultural weapon skins and the like across several characters. :\
The day dodging and timing are made irrelevant in GW2 is the same day I quit playing.
Why can't I use mouse 1 for weapon skill 1 ?

You can’t map anything to M1 or M2 out of the box, but you can always use the combat mode mod to get around this. Makes the game much more playable imo.
Race: Human
Sex: Female
Class: Assassin
Armor: Leather
Whole lot of issues with this one, the chest piece subject as usual. The poncho or whatever you’d like to call it clips through both the front and back of the character’s chest; if I recall, both only happen during combat animations. Also, the coat clips through the matching boots of the set.
Race: Human
Sex: Female
Class: Assassin
Armor: Rascal
Right side of the coat clips through itself.
Race: Human
Sex: Female
Class: Assassin
Armor: Magitech
The coat clips though the character’s left upper chest. Also, the skirt is frankly a disaster, though I don’t have any screenshots of it as I haven’t applied the skin to anything. Sure someone else will post it, though.
Race: Human
Sex: Female
Class: Assassin
Armor: Pirate
All issues centered around the chest piece. The coat clips through the character’s shoulders and butt.
Race: Human
Sex: Female
Class: Mesmer
Armor: Exotic Acolyte
Three main issues with this set:
-The skirt clips through the character’s butt when the player stops moving while sidestepping to the left.
-There is a spot that tears open above the character’s right breast at all times, but it’s most notable during idle animations.
-Eyelashes clip through the blindfold on the character’s left side. Hard to see most of the time but it’s there.
The skirt also clips through the floor and ankles when wielding any one-handed weapon in the main hand but I couldn’t get a screenshot of it and I doubt anything can be done about these. They’re pretty minute, anyway.

Reported this in-game a few days ago.
This has been happening to me ever since culling was removed. I’ve also been experience horrible hitching after playing for a couple of hours, something I never had a problem with prior to this patch.
No, it does it in the game world, too.
Don’t have this issue myself (seems more like you’re missing a texture somewhee), but the rascal coat does manage to clip through itself on the right side during combat idles.
I feel like we really should compile a list of armor issues into one thread with appropriate screenshots.
Humans don’t have clipping to the point where body parts extrude out of their armor.
Humans don’t have shoulders armor that floats magically off of their bodies.
*_Humans don’t have whole portions of their skull and face removed by helmets._
I don’t know about helmets, but I can name plenty of sets where the body clips through on humans (Magitech, Phoenix, Leather, Pirate, Exotic Acolyte, Magician, Rogue, Noble etc.) during various animations and pretty much every shoulder piece hovers to some degree. I’ve reported a number of these with screenshots in this forum section so feel free to browse my post history for proof.
There’s some clipping in certain human armors, sure. But that is in no way comparable to the issues with charr armors. And issues with charr armors are getting worse, not better.
Didn’t I say Charr probably have it worse?
My point is, all the armors need addressing, not just one race, particularly in a game so heavy rooted in visual customization.
(edited by medohgeuh.4650)
There are plenty of human armors that need tweaking to fix clipping, too.
Granted, I’m sure Charr have it worse, but it’s currently nothing racial exclusive at this point, either.
My experiences on Tarnished Coast have been pretty good for the most part, far and above most other games and their respective communities.
For the people that disagree with the OP, maybe try another server?
Let’s not confuse tedious, artificial difficulty with genuine challenge.
Good point. I’m looking for someone that’s not average though, or I wouldn’t need to be looking.
Well I am also on Tarnished Coast, so if you’re looking for a reliable buddy for anything, just shoot me a message.
Not all of them, mind you, just the ones outside of the default standing animations.
They’re well done and all, but for the most part, I find all of the idle animations outside of the defaults cause weird clipping issues with most armor sets so I’d rather not have them going off at random at all. Would be an easier solution than going through and tweaking every armor set, too, or at least I would think.
This isn’t anything exclusive to Guild Wars 2; the average MMOer tends to have a short attention span, rarely sticking with any one game for too long.
Thanks for this. Really hope the Magitech clipping gets addressed soon, I really want to wear my set.
She used to have the 40-something face you can choose in character creation if I recall correctly.
At the least, it’d be nice if someone at Anet would let us know if and when these issues will ever be fixed.
I feel like there’s so little from me to choose from for my characters to wear once I weed out everything that has serious clipping issues.
Er… seems like she either has the wrong head or the wrong body. Either way, it needs fixing because it’s kind of disturbing.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’d love for Anet to sit down and put out a patch to address all the armor clipping issues and whatnot; for a game so heavily rooted in visual customization, it’s very disappointing for an outfit to be ruined over something any 3D modelling hobbyist could fix in a short amount of time.
It’s my only reoccurring complaint with this game, really.
I think ArenaNet doesn’t regret dynamic events, I think they regret thinking players play to play and not to complete certain goals, and in the process, not helping players make discovery and participation in the events another sort of goal.
That’s basically how I play this game as I’m not part of the grindy MMOer audience. Major reason I like Guild Wars 2, really.
Forcing people into crafting, arguably one of the most tedious things to do in a game, results in the same exact problem: pushing the player base into something with little to no fun factor just to accomplish what they want.
I don’t think they’ve given up on events at all so much as neglected to give them more incentive.
What they need to do is move Living Story out into the game world instead of keeping them in cities, kind of like the aetherblade invasions. Gets more people out and about triggering events.
It’s what ’Id do, anyway.
Thread title.
Just seems like a good idea now that we have an account bound wallet, never mind that it is mind boggling to begin with that someone thought it a good idea to have dyes assigned on a character-by-character basis when there’s over 400 of them.
Glad I’m not the only one that noticed!
Two more sets that are rendered unwearable due to unsightly clipping.
The cape-like adornment on the Leather set for female humans as well as the boots are just… a complete mess.
Also, the coat on the Rascal set (also on female humans) clips through itself on the right side during combat idles…?
I feel like I’ll never find a set for my thief that suits both her personality and doesn’t clip like crazy. :\
Another spot that clips is around the left shoulder on female humans during idle animations as seen here.
Can we please be notified if this will be addressed or not? I mean, we payed 10 bucks for this skin set. :\
(edited by medohgeuh.4650)
Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but the pirate armor clips around the shoulders and butt with some idle animations, at least on human females with the first body type.
Really love this set otherwise.
