ArenaNet added GvG pvp looooong after Guild Wars 1 release
I think they are taking break from bi-weekly updates. I mean SAB and Tequatl Rising aren’t made by Living story teams (that’s what im thinking). SAB was made by separate group in the past, also world bosses rework and lfg tool is something they were making along the lines. I don’t think that Tequatl rework would take the whole 8 weeks that singe living story team has to develope an update, lfg is what they were working on for a long time i guess and WvWvW updates are rolling up frequently in every update.
I think they took their time for future updates to polish new chunks of living story or add more content to those updates
.
We’ll see what future brings.

It’s only 25 days if u do 5 dungs per day (and u do other activities too from which u get those fragments) thats imo reasonable.
THE SHATTERER BURNING PHASE
When the boss reaches 25% of his health he flies up to the sky and starts to breath the Crystal Fire on the ground…i think the image will explain it.
http://ifotos.pl/zobacz/shatterer_nwspqsp.jpg/
Let me explain
The Shatterer (red S cricle on the picture) flies up and goes following the red path 1, and starts to breath the fire (purple recktangle number 1), players (black P circle) have to move to the safe zone (green zone number 1). Then boss turns back (red path 3) and again breaths the fire (purple recktangle number 2), players have to runaway to the safe zone (green zone number 2), then turns again and breaths the crystal fire again (purple recktangle number 3) aaaaand players have to runaway to safe zone (green zone number 3). When the boss lands in his regular spot the fires go away,
What happens when the players stand in the Crystal Fire[b]? It obviously does immense amount of damage and [b]ALSO applies the stacks of Insanity which is very bad
.
THE SHATTERER DESPERATION PHASE
After the burning phase when boss is below 25% the desperation phase begins. Heavily wounded dragon becomes “very angry”
, he basicly does everything harder, more and more frequently. As his power and blood leaks through the wounds, the Insanity debuff stacks faster, also Crystal Storm is permanent and spawns all the time on top of the old one (so basicly players will have less and less space to play with as the desperation phase goes). But because of his insanity he becomes heavily vulnerable, so players can deal more dmg to the boss.
THE CHANGE
If minions are close to the boss, they gain might and vitality buff. Ppl will have to split their forces into two. Ppl who „tank” minions and ppl who kills „toe”
. Boss will get 15 minutes timer, after 15 minutes he casts Depravity which kills all players in the event area.
The End
It is a repost from my very old thread about imporving meta boss fights. I imporved it long time ago and had it in my doc files since then, but never came back to post it, because i know that ant like me in this big game can change nothing
. Anyways hope You enjoyed the explanation of my imagined fight with The Shatterer. I have more in store, but im not confident enough to release it to public
.
(edited by nehezbegar.1065)
The Shatterer fight
I was thinking about it for some time and i think my ideas are cool. So basicly i’d add one additional phases and spells. Also i’d change one little thing
So let me describe what i have in my mind
THE SHATTERER REGULAR PHASE
This is the normal fight between certain phases and he does what he does right now, so he breath this crystal fire, shots crystals from the sky and will caught players in crystal prison. BUT he would have more additional spells here they are.
FIRST ADDITIONAL SPELL
Crystal Wall – Makes boss invulnerable to all kinds of dmg. Also wall has very very very high resistance to the players attacks (like doors in WvWvW) it can be destroyed fast by using cannons
.
THE SHATTERER ADDITIONAL SECOND SPELL
IMAGE
http://i46.tinypic.com/2djnm9j.jpg
Crystal Storm – Every 45 seconds Dragon spawns several Crystal Storms that lasts for 30 seconds. Crystal Storm does dmg (matter of balance how much it would take
).
If the player is inside the crystal storm he becomes weakened.
If the minion is inside the crystal storm it gains might and healing condition.
If there are no ppl in the main battle area, Shatterer spawns crystal strom on cannons
THE SHATTERER THIRD ADDITIONAL SPELL
Insanity - Players in melee range gets slowly stacks of condition. When condition reaches 10 stacks players becomes a branded creature and turns against its allies, the only way to dispell it is to “kill” that person (downed state).
Mind weakness - after removing the Insanity condition players get Mind weakness debuff, basicly it means that players can’t go to boss melee range for 1 minute. When the player suffers from Mind weakness condition even one stack of Insanity kills the player (death without downed state).
So players will have to use some melee rotation strategy.
NEW PHASES PHASES PHASES PHASES PHASES
THE SHATTERER CANNON PHASE
IMAGE
http://i49.tinypic.com/9a07ib.jpg (i know my drwanings aren’t perfect, but i hope u get the idea
)
At 75% and 50%, The Shatterer will jump to the place where the cannons are placed and crush them to the ground. After destroying cannons from 2 spots he will return to his „normal” place and summon CRYSTAL WALL. Behind this wall Shatterer will start to heal himself, ofcourse the boss is immune to any dmg.
Then the phase begins. We will have to protect enginers while they are repairing the cannons…but it won’t be so easy. Dragon will spawn his minions.
Players will have to kill them fast, cuz boss will heal himself (1% life per 15 seconds). Engineers will repair cannons for 33% of cannons life per 10 seconds.
THE SHATTERER MINION PHASE – FOLLOWS THE CANNON PHASE
It’s simple as the other fights in GW2. This phase begins after the boss destroys cannons. He spawns his regular minions and on top of that he also spawns 4 champion Branded Lieutenants
Minion phase 1
Pull – Minion casts pulling spell on engineer (its a fast cast, one second, can be interupted) when he succesfuly pulls the engineer he starts to nuke him (Branded Lieutenant needs to be stuned so he stops nuking engi)
Whirlwind – simple spell that everybody knows how it looks and works
Pummel – stuns the target
Minion phase 2 – called Sacrifice Phase
In this phase, minion will cast spell named Sacrifice
Sacrifice – when the Branded Lieutenant reaches 30% of his life, he starts run to the boss. He runs 20% faster (can’t be crippled). When he reaches the boss he heals The Shatterer for 5% (75%->80% etc).
While Sacrifice players will have to nuke down the add as fast as possible, but it will not be easy.
Do NOT TOUCH ME! - Minion will knock back targets from melee range and blinds everyone with lightning in the event area for 5 seconds. Players spells that can pull the mobs works here (for instance Guardian 5th greatsword spell).
After cannons are fixed players take down the wall(it would take approximately 4 shots from the cannons) and the normal fight starts again
.

Tip #1 Get rid of Your wooden PC and buy a decent one that can handle GW2
Tip #2 If You can’t afford the new PC, lower the amount and quality of visible ppl one the screen
I don’t see a problem here, except low pop realms. I have good PC and i can run everything i want even 20000000000000000 ppl on one screen.
The only thing that bothers me is low pop realms and the question…will they be able to gather enough ppl to do this content?
ArenaNet should merge some low pop realms into one high. Make 18 servers escept 23 that we currently have.
GW2 slowly becomes another gear grind MMO as WOW, EQ or any other MMO on the market…there’s almost nothing left that is unique for GW2, that differs that game from other games. Sadly ArenaNet failed under whiners complaints and is blind on truly fans that love the game and love the game for the philosophy ArenaNet stated when the game was under development, where the skill had matter not the gear u posses, where the grind was meaningless.
Day by day im loosing my faith in ArenaNet as a developer, bad decisions can turn really bad and i can see the changes, bad changes in a long term with Ascended gear (which was really bad idea from the start).
I hope i’m wrong, but personaly i can’t lie to myself, dunno i if i still be playing GW2 by the end of the year.
You guys/girls are forgetting one thing. Games are still bussiness.
When the new potential gamer see 460k CCU or over 3.5mln copies sold, he has the feeling that this game might be good since a lot of ppl play it, so that guy will buy the game.
And It’s Your personal opinion of the game is good or not, for me it is, 90% of the game is great for me.
Im still hoping for ArenaNet staff to confirm something
You are talking about this, but since then ArenaNet sold over 2.5 mln copies of the game, so we can assume that this 460k CCU is from nowdays. Still without clear statement from ArenaNet staff, we can’t take for sure anything.
We have no clear statement from what time those numbers are, as long as noone from ArenaNet team confrims that, we can assume anything. It can be from the release time or nowdays. Those are just speculations, that’s just why i asked with faith that someone competent from ArenaNet will respond to that topic, then we will have a more clearer view on the Guild Wars 2 current playerbase.
A lot of statements are just plain misleading to polish up anet in the eyes on the public.
“We’re now updating Guild Wars 2 about five times as often as the typical MMO.”
This one is a good example, Anet new contents are really boring and doesn’t really make the game any enjoyable to play. The only real update the past whole year was fractal. Other than that, all other contents are meh at best.
It doesn’t make the game enjoyable for You, but for many others it does. Single game can’t appeal to all kind of ppls. We have different tastes and we like different kind of stuff.
As they said, they want to introduce more permanent content, we will see if they fulfill their promises.
Can someone tell me if that number is from the release of the game, where the players count was indeed pretty high, or it’s a number of players logged at the same time nowdays, after the playerbase stabilization?
That number is taken from the infographic here
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-wars-2-the-first-year/
It would be a good idea to introduce a reset trait book. Many times i’ve encountered situations where my build wasn’t suitable for particular content and it would be awesome to be able to reset traits in the dungeon without teleporting to the city (and in case we are a party leader we even can’t tp out cuz everyone gonna be kicked
)
Thanks in advance for response
Thats why i said introducing ascended was a bad idea in general
There are plenty of sources in the net. If person have enough iq to be able to read, he will find GW2 very easy. I didn’t have any problems when i stepped frist time into this game. If i didn’t know sth i just asked, or was looking for it in the net.
You won’t see legendary armor any time soon, you will see Ascended Armor in 2013 for sure though, yes.
So basicly You gonna introduce a gear trademil yes? Introducing ascended type of gear was a bad idea at all. The game that was suppose to be unique and different from standards, You’ve became another EQ, WoW clone with the same gear trademil, grind and farm.
I kittenin love this game and decisions like this pierce my heart, i loved the philosophy where the skill (proffesion knowledge, timing, spacing etc.) was more important than gear. Now we will have a situation where You won’t be able to do particular content, cuz u have no appropriate gear even if You have enough skill.
I don’t like this idea.
But i guess whiners have won, those who want to transform this game into another generic…ehh ;/
(edited by nehezbegar.1065)
Battlefield 3 can also utilize an i7 potential. My point is that if a quad core i5 3570k cannot be fully utilized then any future hardware upgrades will be useless.
I have played SWTOR, TERA and RIFT and had smoother game play in all of those games.
It has been a year since launch and there have been minimal performance upgrades to the game, if anything the removal of culling has downgraded performance for a lot of people.
Anet dropped the ball using a modified GW1 engine that cannot handle the game. Expect to never have any improvements, ever with GW2 until the engine is recoded and properly optimized.
But have You seen as many ppl there as You see right now in GW2? I’ve never seen so many ppl in those games. GW2 is not a performance monster i agree, but is nowhere far from other games. When there is normal amount of ppl in the area i get the hard stable 60 fps. Right now with this huge amount of ppl on the screen it is normal that the performance drops. Wait 2-3 days and everything will go back to normal, ppl will come back to their normal daily activities.
And from what i know right now it is impossible to recode and redo the whole GW2 engine, they will do it for Guild Wars 3, guess why Blizz didnt radically upgrade their engine (they just slightly upgraded the current engine, adding some minor features, they just rised the texture resolution goin from 256×256 to 512×512 and 1024×1024 on characters, my eye may be kittened but the texture quality sure rised since 2004, thats why the game looks better now than in 2004)
(edited by nehezbegar.1065)
@up u can tune the culling just change the WvWvW settings, it affects PvE too, they just didn’t change the tooltip.
@UP hmm I assure You if u saw as many ppl in for instace SWTOR, TERA, RIFT or any other “AAA” game as in GW2 right now Your pc would explode
. Don’t give me the WoW example, cuz this game has its age, performace wise You can’t compare WoW(2004) and GW2 (2012).
There is no game on the market, except Crysis 3, that can fully utilize i7 processors
. You can always try to switch off the hyper threading to rise the performance (but it isnt a lot, i tested it, it gave me like 4 fps more, but i need those 8 threads a lot to render my 3d scenes
, so i have hyperthreading on all the time).
Tough ArenaNet should force the game client to utilize our GPUs more. My Gigabyte GHz 7970 never goes past 55%.
(edited by nehezbegar.1065)
I can finally enjoy the game at it’s finest with tons of ppl on the screen….hahahah bye bye culling and never come back.
(edited by Moderator)
Neither are villains stories. There will always be a villain in a hero story and vice versa.
Do you really think by voting for evon you would be making the story more intetesting?
Yes because in Evon case the consequences are unpredictible, while Kiel…well we all know she’s gonna be good.
For You and for most people Yes, i take more variables under considerartion, because i want to enjoy all areas of the game, not only one fractal.
Maybe, but it’s still a shame that people voted for her after all Trahearne rant.
I hope Kiel dies soon, hate her design(story background). I hope Evon won’t be forgotten and he will have his 5 minutes, for me best character so far in then whole GW2.
Ehh people, i am really disappointed about You. Again, the good , righteous, clean and no soul scratch carachter won, what a shame. It’s starting to become boring. I hate good characters, they are blant, boring with no flavour. I can’t think of any game that good character is interesting. We always have our plant hero like characters that are super holy and righteous with 0% evil inside them.
I wanted Gnashblade to win so much You know. He is sneaky, evil and mysterious, just interesting. I was/am curious how that character would develope over time, in Kiel case i’m not interested, because i already know that she’s gonna be good, pure lady that will do everything for her people…yaugh i’m gonna puke.
Screw Abaddon, screw that reactor, put some time to create some interesting characters and story, cuz so far we get boring stuff with no flavour.
You’ve contradicted yourself. You can’t give them complete independence to do what they what and dictate to them what they should be making, how they should be making it and how many people should be working on it.
Also I don’t know about you but I’ve never known a company with more than about 5 employees where the owner(s) have that much control.
Like the place I’m working now, it’s a small company, only about 35 employees, but the board does not have anything like that level of control. They set budgets and targets for each department (which usually means approving other peoples recommendations) and they need to approve big decisions – like a whole new project that requires a new team being set up – but most of the detailed decisions like how much time is devoted to each project within a department are made by the individual managers. All the board knows is “we met these targets and it cost this much and took this long”.
I didn’t
First of all i would buyout ArenaNet from NCsoft and give them full independence to what they create.
I’ve said i wouldn’t interfere into lore, designs and that kind of stuff decisions
. If i was a publisher i wouldn’t hold ArenaNet when they wanted to add Cantha district in DR and probably many more decision were held back by NCsoft during the development process, but obviously noone will admit that.
Investors are brutal and they are focused only on incomes. That’s why GW2 has little to nothing similar with GW1 (except lore), because old scheme, that GW1 used to have would not cater nowdays mass game customers
I think ill go back to my old system…avoiding forums, everyone has problem with everything, that supposed to be a fun thread to just throw some ideas and it turned into bla bla bla thread when everyone has problem with everything
, and don’t even try to read whole post or don’t even try to understand it.
Everyone just take this kitten too seriously…WHY? BECAUSE i will never have 1 billion $ to spend on GW2, i wanted this thread to be some like “You’ve become a game designer in ArenaNet”, but OFC some ppl have to take pixels to seriously and turn the thread into spam.
I broke my rule and i regret it, let this topic die, i’m returning to what i’ve been doing so far
.
(edited by nehezbegar.1065)
Also please back on topic i want to know Your ideas not the opinoin if ArenaNet is independent or if i am kitten programmer, because i don’t care about internet opinoins
It’s not that your opinion is invalid because you don’t program. It’s that there are too many flaws in your opinion because you don’t understand the technical aspects. A QA team isn’t a magical team that finds every bug. The best QA team is a live audience because there are so many people that they WILL find the bugs.
A bug-fixing team is also not a magical team that will, given enough time, fix all the bugs. They have to look through lines of code to see why something isn’t working right, even though it seems to work sorta correctly (or maybe even entirely correctly). They can apply band-aids or figure out a true fix, but the band-aids are a lot easier. (See: Mesmer Shatter Global Cooldowns)
When client send me the bug fixing request i ask him when the bug occured, what was he doing when the bug occuread, overall i gather as much data as possible (also i have stuff in my programm that create the error reports if sth crash or whatever to help me dealing with that) and then i try to recreate this scenario so i can “get” this bug, and then if it occurs i try to fix it. Thats how i work.
Also, did i say they will fix everything immediately? Did i elaborate about how the fixing process would go? If i want to go deeper into technical aspects and expand what i had in my mind by writting “create a dedicated bug fix team” i would need the whole new topic, this one is about sth different. Anyways having a dedicated team would probably speed the process up…srsly You don’t read everything i wrote. I clearly said that except QA team there are players who find bugs and send feedback, didn’t i?
I stop this discussion right here, because the topic isn’t about that. Please stay on the topic and if You want to discuss programming and stuff please PM me.
(edited by nehezbegar.1065)
That’s why there is QA team? To test kitten, prepare testing scenarios etc.,to find core bugs. Then they create reports to the development team so dev team can catch those bugs and fix them if needed. They don’t have to scan the whole code, if they have good report on whats wrong, they consult it with the design team on how this and that should work and then they fix it. Also there are players who find bugs and send the feedback.
Maybe i should wrote that i would increase the amount of ppl in the QA, before i wrote stuff about bug fixing team.
And You are wrong…last month i was working on a project, i prefer my iterative process of fixing bugs, it takes a little longer, but have the best effects. I write a part of the programm and then i test it. I create some amount of test variables and pass them through the programm. When i finish writting the code at the end i create testing scenarios to catch bugs and features that don’t work as i designed them to work, then i try to fix them, test them again and release. Maybe not the best method but i’ve never said im a professional programmer and yes i’ve never worked in the game development company. Question is did You?
Also please back on topic i want to know Your ideas not the opinoin if ArenaNet is independent or if i am kitten programmer, because i don’t care about internet opinoins
(edited by nehezbegar.1065)
Uh, I’d like to ask a question. nehezbegar, are you a programmer?
I re-read your OP, just to be sure, and… it doesn’t sound like you’ve programmed much, if at all, in your life.
Elaborate please, i don’t know how to respond to that. If You have team that is big enough and consist good amount of good programmers (if You have 1 billion $ You definetly can afford that
) then it is possible to achieve many things, but i don’t know how i should answer to Your problem. What i asked is a hipotethical question, what would You do if You had 1 billion of $, not what would You do if You had 1 billion of $ and was a programmer
(edited by nehezbegar.1065)
If they were independent we would see Cantha district in DR.
Loot is like lottery, not everyone can win millions…I’ve been trying for many years yet i haven’t even win one penny
.
So my question is guys and girls, what would You do if You had 1 billion of $ only to invest on GW2
.
For me
First of all i would buyout ArenaNet from NCsoft and give them full independence to what they create.
Second i’d try to convince Mike to hire more programmers, so it would be possible to assemble group of 10-15 programmers that works ONLY on fixing bugs, ofc i would rotate those ppl with guys from living story teams etc, so the work won’t be so boring.
Third i would like Mike to create 5th content team, that would consist same amount of ppl as ppl from all 4 living story teams. This team would be responsible for making BIG mini expansions every two months that would add additional stepps into presonal story, new 1-2 dungeons with story and explorable paths, new 1-2 fractals, new pvp map, new additions to the WvWvW, and i would expand dynamic events more, delete some old ones and exchange them with new ones.
Fourth I would ask Mike to assemble pvp balancing group that, but in addition except desingers, pvp content desingers etc., the team would consist each class top player from the ladder to discuss some balance adjustements. They would have dedicated forums. Each set of players would “be” in the team for one month.
Fifth i would add more money into content than marketing
, so if ArenaNet worked on new expansion more money would go to content than marketing. More dungeons, more events, more pvp maps and modes, more WvWvW modes and featers…all more more more more
6th ArenaNet should have team dedicated for gem shop, they would work only on stuff that would be added to the is. No rng stuff, just real and actuall set skins, fluffy stuff etc.
Thats now for me, what’s Your ideas community??
I’d like to see more characters that are not black or white, but grey. Characters that care for their interests or goals…i may give You the stupid example
, but i like characters like Orochimaru from Naruto, we know he is evil etc., but we don’t know his true intentions, we don’t know what sits in his crazy head, mysterious crazy man. He likes when there is an action in the world, when something moves, he don’t like static times, he likes to watch what results some action will bring etc. Very well crafted character.
Also i’d like to see more darker stories, some hard decision to be made, decision that might turn wrong in the future (i like The Witcher series touch in this area). Heroes make mistakes too. For instance we see how some creatures attack a guy and try to kill him, we can skip it or help this guy, but we don’t know him, then it turns out that he is an evil oune and decimates orphanage, because he looked for sth and we got this info later in the game from some npc. If we knew he was a bad guy, would we help him? We can take the path to track him down and kill him or say “whatever” and move along
I know that GW2 wants to innovate and stuff, but it is good to take good inspirations from other games, novels, or tv shows, especially when they have good crafted story and characters
.
I think that only ArenaNet have balls to let us craft our characters as we want and i hope They will give us more freedom to do so. I don’t want to be oh so brigthy hero, i want to have some sense of evilness inside my character, maybe i’d like to detach from this group Trahearne leads and work on my own, care about my business or even cooperate with evil characters to achieve some goals. I want some decision that are not good or bad, rather evil or less evil
(edited by nehezbegar.1065)
Temporary contet is pretty good idea, but with the temporary stuff ArenaNet has to add some permanent stuff, so ppl can fill their time after they finish temporary stuff
.
It gives the world the sense of living, thats what ArenaNet claimed before they released the game, they want to make this game world living and breathing. Thats why They introduced the living story feature.
But as i said, with temporary content, They must release some permanent content too and keep good balance.
If in the real live something changes it stays changed, it does not just undo itself. So adding new achivements is fine but in stead of having a dungeon like MF or AR temporary they could leave it in. Just change the story a little. The big problem is that they now scare away completionist. Because if they do miss one event they don’t care about the game anymore. Knowing they will never be able to complete all achievements anymore. Secondly, people who where gone for a while don’t see many new content. So best idea would to keep the content it. That still gives the feeling of an always changing world but also means there will be more content for people to play.
In real life when one person kills another, dead person can’t be ressurected. If You want real life ingame, then almost everything should be temporary, You’d be able to beat dungeon only once, cuz once You’ve killed the boss, the boss would not be accessible anymore
It gives the world the sense of living, thats what ArenaNet claimed before they released the game, they want to make this game world living and breathing. Thats why They introduced the living story feature. .
Sorry to break it to you, but you bought that hype hook line and sinker.
Temporary content is a phenomenally bad idea in a MMO that´s supposedly taking itself seriously.
It works great in casual games, but GW2 is everything but.
It placates the bean-counters as they see numbers rise on introduction. And the quick buck these player numbers promise is all these types care about. The ONLY thing that´s making a MMO live & breathe are the players, not some temporary ride in the Themepark.
Sorry but You don’t know me, and You can’t say i bought hype or not, as You see i don’t rage on the forums, JUST BECAUSE I DIDN’T HYPE MYSELF TO THEY SKY BEFORE THE RELEASE OF THE GAME LIKE OTHER WHINERS, CRYBABIES etc(capslock intended to make my statement stronger). Living story makes the world more live and dynamic, everytime something changes, this is not a sandbox mmo that players create the story of their server, as You mentioned GW2 is a themepark and events like these are for that purposes.
I assure You it is 3rd person game
Temporary contet is pretty good idea, but with the temporary stuff ArenaNet has to add some permanent stuff, so ppl can fill their time after they finish temporary stuff
.
It gives the world the sense of living, thats what ArenaNet claimed before they released the game, they want to make this game world living and breathing. Thats why They introduced the living story feature.
But as i said, with temporary content, They must release some permanent content too and keep good balance.
Ye, i’d like to see in GW2 more forest like areas with tons of foliage
Check attachment, would You like to see sth like this?
It’s from Polish medival MMO under development (Gloria Victis
)
here is the second photo, unfortunately i can add only one attachment

I’m 99,99% sure ArenaNet won’t introduce gear trademil with the new raid-like content. They would have to thorw up their philosophy to the trash box and rename the game to the World of Guild Wars 2
No, im not afraid. They had enough money to expand the living story team. I see a lot of ppl everywhere, it is not ofc same amount of ppl as at the start which is obvious. Also i doubt that ppl like me are minority. Forum does not reflect on the overall playerbase, ther are tons tons tons tons of ppl that don’t even visit forums
. Mostly crybabies, haters, whiners etc goes on the forums to spam about how frustrated they are. Look what happened with WoW forum, complete disaster, the same happened to GW2 forum. Hell, every game forums drown from ppl hate. Constrictive criticism is the minority, demanding ridiculous things like bringing gear trademil is not constructive criticism, because FROM THE BEGGINING IT WAS KNOWN that GW2 won’t have that stuff, it was and is the philosophy of ArenaNet from the beggining, starting from GW1.
We have an insight on a future content too, guild/player housing, raid-like content, more frequet updates.
This is business man, if game gives profits it is succesfull
. And don’t fool Yourself ppl, there is no, and there will be no MMO that can surpass WoW numbers, even Titan won’t achieve it, im 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% sure about that.
If developers abandon their philosophy they fail hard, when GW2 introduces gear trademil i will instantly delete the game from the hdd and never look back. There is a reason why i left WoW and never was able to get into other EQ/WoW clone games. There is a reason why i play GW2. If that happens iill probably play The Witcher 3 till i die
and never look on MMO (maybe World of Darkness will seduce me
).
There is a nice post in one thread, new mmo cycle
Developers introduce innovative stuff
gamers are happy
game is released
first swarm of gamers apprecitate the game
HATE STARTS
ppl want the innovative game to become the same generic one forcin developers to implement standard features from EQ, WoW and other games
developers abandon their philosophy and convert their game into another copy
game becomes f2p
hard fail
(edited by nehezbegar.1065)
I think buying second game for second account is cheaper than buying additional 5 slots
Thing that kills games are haters
. For some time i haven’t seen any constructive criticism, just whine, cry, rage, hating and all that stuff coming from frustrated ppl that expected the second Jesus Christ of MMOs.
If You have enough brain in Your head, You should know that all those manifesto trailers, developers talk etc is a marketing. If You really hyped Yourself so much, then You are a fail
.
You should also understand that good chunk of ppl likes the desing decisions made by ArenaNet (for instance no, so called, gear progression from other MMOs). There are a lot of ppl who like this decision ArenaNet made, if it doesn’t appeal to You, it’s ok, we all have different tastes, but don’t doom this game only because it lacks features YOU like, while others don’t.
No kittenin developer can make perfect game, deal with it, there are too many ppl on the planet, with different tastes, i think even god if he existed would not be able to please all the ppl and fulfill their needs.
If You really are not happy with the state of the game atm, just move on, there are other MMOs with gear trademil, maybe when You get bored of them , You can come back and see the changes in GW2 by this time and if You like them then play the game if not? Well, noone will fit to Your needs
.
If You want my opinion i want to have more competetive PvE, but with current gear progression i like rather to improve my real skills, not a illusion of skill covered by imba gear. Many so called hardcore players wouldn’t do kitten without their +123123123 stats on gear.
We have to wait and see what route ArenaNet will take with GW2 development, they see ppl want more permanent, challengable content, so probably they will deliver.
U can’t make content “not tedious” after some time. If developers found that solutioun they would make gazzilions milions of money, cuz of infinity content. I just want that the learning curve of particular dungeon to be a little bit higher and longer. Bring the wipe factor, that kick our kitten to develop our abilities and skills to master our class.
For instance in the laser phase 2 in my encounter you’d have to work on your timing and You’d have to pay atention to the enviroment, also mastering the speed moving build.
I miss that stuff from GW1 where You had to work on particular build for particular dungeon and master it.
Thanks to that in the future ArenaNet would be able to make harder content cuz players would be better. Take the WoW for instance, dungeons from Classic were easy as eating banana, You just had to know how to take off the skin
, now raids in WoW are more complex and have better mechanics every expansion. I don’t want to GW2 be the second WoW…noone wants, but i just want to have some challenging boss fights. I had 3 wipes (1 on laser phase, 2 on last boss) so it isn’t that challenging like other ppl in other threads write, just the mechanics are interesting and ArenaNet could have expanded them more
.
Maybe some day ArenaNet will please “hardcore” PvE players like myself with very difficult fights.
And this is how it should look, to force ppl to experiment with other builds that may help them defeating the content. That would be the part of progression and learning curve. For instance in this new dungeon, on this lab encounter, berserker builds are pretty much useless, better are ranged, condition builds
, so most ppl probably needed some wipes to learn it
If ArenaNet listens to whiners and nerf-bies…faith rating in ArenaNet will drop hard for me :X
I don’t think them are even included in this patch (haven’t seen them in gem shop and they definetly don’t drop from dung
)
I don’t know what You mean? The rewards i posted is my ideas for the rewards You could get after dealing with my version of a dungeon
…and im sure You would not be able to solo it or even 3 man it
In REAL DUNGEON THAT IS ON LIVE SERVERS you can drop only this monosth.
Thank you Anet for this dungeon.
Please…
Do NOT nerf it!
Never!+1
Every new dungeon in Living Story gets better and better.
And every new dungeon in Living Story shares the same problem. ITS NOT PERMANENT.
In an interview I read (not so long ago) about the possibility to add those “not permanent dungeons” as fractals – this could be a magnificent idea.
Hopefuly They will, it would be enormous waste of resources if they delete this dung after 2 weeks. This is money ppl, every milemeter fo this dung is $$ spent by Anet to develop it
Isn’t the satisfaction from beating the hard boss or content enough reward, including fun ofc?
When i played World of Warcraft my excitment went to the sky when we killed for the first time last boss in tier, nobody was kittening about gear etc., we were just happy that we improved ourselfs enough to beat that hard content.
As for the reward for my vision dungeon i would suggest
1g
Granted token from last boss to buy tier set piece (so basicly you’d have to run this dung 6 times, but if u drop the ticket one day, u can’t drop second the same day
)
AND RNG CHANCE to drop awesome weapon skin from First or Last boss
Months ago i have written how to improve The Shatterer fights and how i imagined Zhaitan fight
The Shatterer
Zhaitan
Also i was working on my version of raid

(im not story writter, so bare me, im rather content designer (boss encounters, dungeons encounters)
Unfortunately couldn’t finish this, too many stuff to do in rl, so i couldn’t work on it, but maybe this summer ill try to come back and finish it. Also i would like to start the RP project, soon i will post how to improve the RP aspect of GW2 (basicly ideas for tools and stuff to help game masters<rp game masters not arenanet game masters> to lead the pen and paper style of RP
)
I’have had an idea to create “gamers designers corner” where players would be able to post their ideas, designs etc., maybe some ideas would fit to GW2 and devs would be able to create content inspired by gamers designs. Maybe in the future we will see developers who are close partners with gamers (ofc with common sense, u know, rejecting some ridiculous ideas or ideas that don’t fit to the general idea of the game
)
Maybe…maybe in the future
