Basically you’re trying to use the Outnumbered effect in a way to balance in Points (PPT/PPK). There are a few reasons I don’t this will work, but mainly it is because I don’t think it will solve the problem itself.

The reason I don’t think it will work is because no matter how much Point rewards (or any other rewards) the fact is that most players doesn’t enjoy playing 10 vs 100, or 5 vs 20 etc. It just plain isn’t fun, so unless you’re rabid about Points (I haven’t met many) it just isn’t incentive enough to play against the odds.

Also, you might say that 10 vs 20 deserves a x2 points, but with equal skill among the players in question, it is much harder than just 2x as hard to get points as 10 vs 20. Gut guess would be about x4, but I really can’t say for certain. Those 20 have multiple tactics to take over 90% of the map, and those 10 can at best hold onto a corner/defensive position (keep or tower + 1-2 camps). Anything more, and the 20 can either outnumber them as 20, or split up to 10+10 and take things twice as fast, or keeping the 10 busy with 10, while the rest split up and take the map.


Anyway, the main issue really isn’t points. The real issue is that it should be FUN to fight against the enemy no matter the numbers. Basically a handicap system. As long as people can play 10 vs 20, and both feel it is a fun and engaging fight, and not just a pushover, people will play despite the points. But as other point out, I’m against any kind of handicap that interacts directly with combat/stats etc, so it would be hard to say how to solve it.

Sadly, even if Outnumbered effect gave x10 the points, it wouldn’t matter much. Though I do agree on no PPK when Outnumbering.

But as others have said, Outnumbered isn’t an buff, it’s a warning. I definitively agree it could be solved much better, but it does do that function decently.

It is no fun when there is no goals.

What to fight when you cant win? Huge PPT different give moral breakdown on competitive players.

the purpose of this is to minimize the PPT gap.

Example:

100 enemy players fighting at your spawn points, you only have 20 players. Your home keep has been taken away.

So, with huge PPK in outnumbered buff, you can fight.

enemy kill you only give them 1 points. But when you kill them, you get more points!! let say 100 points per 1 of enemy killed!!! So they wont dare to fight at your spawn points!

Now PPT, if u can ninja 1 camp on this situations, the tick of the that camp will be crazy high!! that makes the PPT different become closer!!

Example:

Blue servers 50 players vs green server 100 players

Even blue server different with green server is only x2, but the player different is huge.

unlike 10 vs 20 (only 10), or 20 vs 40 (only 20), the different is so huge in 50 vs 100 (50 players different)

So i suggest, instead of x2, x3, outnumbered buff, give the buff exactly according to the player differents. If its only has +1 player, give small buff to the outnumbered server. if the different is 10, 20 or even 50, give more buff if more numbers.

Moreover,

Example:

red 10 players vs blue 50 players vs gree 100 players.

red will have outnumbered buff on blue and green PPT/PPK

blue will only have outnumbered buff on green PPT/PPK

3.Righteous Indignation = Make it 1 or 2 minutes. Because 5 minutes is too long and boring to wait

4. Sentry = Can be upgraded, add more guards. And can we have PPT points on captured sentry?

5. Bloodlust node: Bloodlust give PPT. So there is small fight all the times.

6. MVP Boss: MVP boss will give PPT to the server that made a last hit kills.

7. System to auto count players numbers on wvw for each server:

A system will auto count number of players for each server on all 4 borderland (red, blue, green, ebg)

if there is a population gap, outnumbered buff will be given

This systems will repeat every PPT tick (2 min)

Player who come late before beginning of each PPT tick need to wait in que. And can enter wvw map on the next que

System will auto detect disconnected (DC) players and add players on the waiting que smartly.

If there is no player on the que? Can developer create a smart systems that react on the go, so if something like this happened, the outnumbered buff can be adjusted on the go? If not, the buff will stay until the next tick. Just 2 minutes thou.

1. 2 hours skirmish system is good. But, it still doesn’t fix population imbalanced problem.

2. My idea..

Example, the map will auto count how many players are in the borderland, at the beginning of the 2 min tick. Map will stop accepting players until next tick begin.

So player who come late need to wait in que for the next tick before they can get into the map.

Example:
Red server 10 players vs 60 players from green server vs 30 players from blue server

So the outnumbered buff,

Red server will gain x6 PPT/PPK when defeating/capturing any green camps/tower/player. This is because 10×6 = 60

red server will gain x3 PPT/PPK when defeating/capturing any blue camps/tower/player. This is because 10×3 = 30

Meanwhile,
Blue server will get x2 PPT/PPK when defeating/capturing any green camps/tower/player. This is because 30×2 = 60.

Hence, the bigger the player number gap, the bigger outnumbered buff will be multiples. Example if 10 vs 100, means outnumbered ppt/ppk buff is x10. If 1 camps worth 5 points, 5×10 = 50 points. If 1 player killed gives 1 points, outnumbered fight will make it 1×10 = 10.

If this multiple still cant balance it, multiples the outnumbered buff even further. I cant give a numbers now, but for starter lets start with this system.

Maybe red server 10 players vs green server 100 players,
1×10 = 100, hence 10×2 = 20. double the buff.
give x20 outnumbered buff. For sure, population wont be the reason a server to win

Yes. ANet want to sell HoT Expansion.
To be true: to sell the Game (if you buy it it’s the entire game, that is both core and expansion).

Had I ever told that Elite are here to make F2P play happy and win fights?
I told that ANet want to sell his game, like every company.
I also told that grant elite specs to F2P is a really terrible idea, simply why isn’t what ANet planned (and i can only hope that it’s not what they want to do), specifically why they want to Sell the game(+expansion), not make you play for free.

You simply summed all i told, without try to belive why I wrote that.

There’s a BIG Difference between a P2W and a B2P, that’s the only thing I want to make you understand.
But you all still insist to that “B2W”, that don’t even exist!

In terms that also you can understand:

Buy the game if tou want to Play this game and be at the same level of everyone.
Or be a F2P why you don’t want to spend some (few) moneys (also once for all, why if ANet continue with they’re timing you’ll don’t see another expansin before the next 2 years) for this beautiful game, that you also are a funboyz of (your words)

Any thing that make F2P don’t want to Buy that game is not a good thing for the game.

And what do you think will happen if ANet make F2P able to play at the same level of who bought the game? even in a single game mode.
They will have plently petitions and will lose a large amount of old players.
Give for Free the Best Contents of an Expansion? That’s the better way to lose a large amount of players.

If you really like this game, buy it.
If you don’t like enough this game to buy it, don’t ask to obtain for free the best contents of the only thing you pay for.

Did i ever said i want free player to have the same access in SPVP (unlock advance classes) as the veteran (who bought vanilla gw2) and hot expansion buyers?

I just want the veteran to have access of advance class in SPVP ONLY. (not PVE and WVW)

1. Hai anet…i have a low graphic card, its GTX 630M (laptop)

even in lowest setting i still get bad fps in gw2…

hope we can tweak more lowest setting so may potato lappy can run it…at least 60 fps all the time

and i have no money to buy new laptop right now. waiting that gtx 980 laptop to lower its price.

2. And while we at it, why not we have gw2 mmorpg at smart phone?

GW2 has tab target combat that is kinda easy for smart phone users.

Only veteran player that bought vanilla gw2, not the free players.

Veteran players has paid the vanilla gw2, should have the advance class in SPVP. Because right now GW2 put veteran player in the same situation as free to play players

Player who bought HOT should only has that advantage in WVW and PVE

Before HOT release, i has spend hundreds usd if not usd 1k++ on gems store.. if HOT release sooner i already bought it.

In my country, if you sale something on false representation you are susceptible to a class action suit.
No where, it is written Free Trial.
People did download more than 40 gig, to find out it’s Buy to Win.
This is a FACT. You need to Buy HoT to wins games.

Oh and btw, since we are in pvp forum.

I don’t care PVE or WvW are Buy to win.

But for sPvP, a MOBA game inside that MMORPG you like so much, F2P should have equal chance compare to B2P, to respect the equal chance for all to win (skill based game).

This is the game design of sPvP —> skill based game.

Guy, do you really know what you’re talking about?
“Free to Play” is a way to make you play this game, but it don’t force the producers to release all the Expansion contents for free or make you able to play at the same level of who Bought the Expansion.

1) You can not make a class action to force ANet or anyone else to grant you the victory. The main reason is that you agreed to a contract and they’re not idiots. They wrote in the contract that the version that you play is the Basic game, without the Expansion. That basicly make of you a “Grade B” player. You don’t chose that but you are, simply why you didn’t bought the game and they want to SELL the game, not make people play for free. (it’s just marketing)

2) The expansion is the only thing that keep this game alive, did you really think ANet will make a Free player able to play at the same level of someone that Bought the game? They grant you the chance to play the game, but Not to be at the Same Level of someone that bought the Expansion.
And no one that bought the expansion want to make F2P able to play at they’re same level. That’s justice. Buy the game and you’ll be at our same level.

3) There’s not write “Free Trial” but basicly it’s a Trial version of that game. A “Demo”, if you like that word. You’re not really a player, you’re more like a spectator that still don’t know if want to buy that game or not. Or even chose to not buy the game but also pretend to have all the chances to play as who Bought it, that is even worst.

4) There’s a Large amount of games “Free to Play” that basicly aren’t F2P. At 99% they’re P2W. But you’re Lucky! because that’s a Buy to Play game, without any monthly subscription to pay or continuously need to spend money to keep you at top. I’m able to show you a Large amount of other MMORPG or MOBA that are “F2P” but if you don’t make a subscription, or spend a lot of money on them, you are lesser than nothing. And, guy, they’re still up, with no “class action” or threats of kids that want to play for free a game that is NOT for free.

5) You can play in sPvP at high levels with non HoT classes. They’re weaker, but there’s builds for a lot of classes that work really good. Try to look on Metabattle and you will find on “Good Builds” a lot of no HoT builds that still work, also making you able to win a 1vs1 (if you’re good).
And I seriously don’t know any game that make true free to play gamers play at the same level of players that spent moneys on it. And there’s nothing that can force a producer to make a game like that, simply why who make a game like that want only one thing: MONEYS. If you don’t grant them moneys (also with a single buy like in this game) you’re not a player that they need to even notice or listen.
B2P, that’s what keep this game alive, not F2P.

6) Also in PvE and WvWvW if you’re not using a Elite there’s some things that you can’t do and frequently you’re weaker. But no one complain about that, it’s only PvE, you will end the dungeon anyway. But some classes work even better without the specializzation in different situations. (example: Zerg Powernecro is still the best for WvW large scale fights, but the Reaper version is way better for Roaming).

7) About the sPvP… I’m sad to tell you that but… GW2 is not balanced, there’s not differences in skills between PvE and PvP, making some classes really OP and others really weak or easy to kill, some classes have only one viable build and others have plently builds that work all good, and more.
Is not that if you buy the game you can play a perfect and balanced game, not at all.
But yes, if you buy the game you’ll be able to play in a more balanced way than the one you actually play.

8) That’s a Skill Based Game and Design, for shure. It Really is.
The only thing that you missed is that the “Skill Based” level is based on HoT Specializzations Level.
Then, if you have not them you can not play at the best. But you can still play at a high level and win a lot of matches with a Core Class Build. you only have to be way better than the others that have HoT, but you can do it. There’s more than one that reached high levels in sPvP with a F2P account. The only problem is that you have to be way better than who have the expansion to fight against them at a similar level.
(that’s marketing again. they want to make you Buy the game, not play for free for all your life).

I’m sad to say that thing to someone that don’t realize them, but that’s the truth.

If you Really want to play the Full Game, Buy the Game. (B2P)
If you want to Try it and Play the 90% of contents that ANet grants you still if you’re a F2P, play it for all the time you want.
If you pretend to be at the same level of who Bought the game, find another F2P game, because the Basic Game is F2P, but the EXPANSION is NOT a F2P content, and that make you a grade B player, if you will or not.

1. I dont care about the advantage HOT players had in PVE and WVW. For me it is MMORPG, they paid for it, they deserved it.

2. SPVP is more like moba/esport. So balance is important! If players like the game, by hook or by crook, they will pay for it!! look how successfull dota 2 is…see how many their prize pool money in the international 2016…

3. It is Pay2win. You paid for HOT right? and of course you buy it too. but its the same. Just different words.

4. HOT class is op, at least for thief.

WvW is dead.

Remove WvW servers and add open PvP Tyria. That would be fun. It could be like WvW. As the OP stated, guilds could claim outposts/cities and attempt to defend them. By holding an outpost someone in Arah let’s say, your guild could gain MF bonuses or something in the area that surrounds it, ect.. ect.. I would spend hours and hours in to this game mode. It would easily replace WvW.

Probably something that would never happen but it would be fun.
Reminds me of old Ultima Online days.

Just make seasons. There is a time all player play WVW tournament.

There is a time players play open world Tyria Pvp for guild ranking. Also seasoning tournament.

so if group of gankers attack you and stalk you around, u can switch to pve world and can leveling safely.

purpose of pvp world was for capturing town, camps, waypoints for ppt and guild fame

im not a free to play player, i bought this game in 2013..

this hot expansion make veteran player like me same level as free player…

and i hate current state of the game thats why i delay buying the expansions.

Use to play an open world pvp game, it was pretty kitten fun when you have abut 20 v 20 People over a map boss, normally the fights last ages and sometimes the boss never gets killed as everyone would get whiped. That being said the population was no where near that of this game and I am sure people would qq in no time at all.

it is recommended to do pve thing like boss monsters in pve instances/world.

Pvp instances/world is for capturing town, settlement, waypoints. i dont think there will be any qq because there is pve instances/world to choose

GW2 has a huge, beautiful PVE world. Its such a waste if not using it to the fullest.

I want an open world PVP instance.

Dont be confuse with PVE. Yes we still have PVE.

PVP world is similar to PVE world, same Tyria.

Player can switch anytime, to play in PVE or PVP world. Example, uhh too many gankers, i switch to PVE world. uhhh i want more challenge, switch to PVP world.

The difference, PVE use megaserver, while PVP is not. example 1 map, can fill 100 players, if its full, player need to que to enter PVP map.

In PVP server, player can kill each other even at the town (same guild and party cant kill each other)

Guild fight other guild to claim town, settlement and waypoints. Later they can tax the visiter.

The best guild is the guild that has the most points. capturing a town/waypoint/settlement over time will give you points. the pvp will use pve/wvw gear.

and of course a guild that bought expansions will have more map to conquer. giving more reasons to buy expansions.

for reward, its up to anet to decide, but make it worth it.

We Need 2 Server Match Up, Not 3

The whole point of 3-way fight is that you get the two losing teams ganging up on the winning team. When the top team gets beaten down, the balance and focus shifts against the next winning team. This actually makes the matchups balanced and bustling with activity.

Unfortunately this does not happen in GW2 WvW. The problem is that there is no reward for winning a matchup – nothing to fight for. The only thing the teams can fight for is better Glicko rating, and the system can reward not only the winner but also the second and sometimes even the third team in the matchup. The two strongest teams often gang up against the weakest in order to secure easy points which results in lopsided matchups.

Problem is, when 2 server decided to gagging up the winning server, there is no way in heck the winning server can counter it. its totally broken. 2 large blobs attacking u, no amount of skills can save you. therefore, it is anti competitive. its also can be manipulated.

Its already happened and we already seen it. 2 server trading wins when the strength different between tier 1 servers not that much.

anet could come out with a solutions that involved ppt gains, player kills point, give more points for killing players, therefore, the server with more players also has the downside.

And i agree with no real reward. even in tournament the reward is craps.

Cant balance with 3 server. Sounds fun on a paper, but not in reality

3 team fight will kill competitive play. What if 2 server decide to 2v1? then they trading wins on every tournament. What else to fight? we already saw that on last 2 tournament.

When there is no balance, there will be no reason to fight. (totally lose or totally won). We already saw this on current match up.

When there is no reason to fight, people wont play. It will be boring and the game will die

GW2 will never have the trinity. There’s so many threads already created about this… If you want the trinity there’s lots of other games you can play. Final fantasy 14 isn’t too bad.

There are however certain classes that function as support type classes. For instance j. Fractals a good mesmer will always be focus pulling mobs into groups to kill faster. They will also be taking stacks down quickly for ice bow deep freeze. They also will use iWarden, curtain, feedback to have lots of reflect up time. Such as in the Ascalon Shard they will strip boons.

Ele has water field and fire fields to blast for healing, might and fury.

Engi stacks vulnerability.

Most classes have some type of support but some more so than others. Currently necro is one of the most lacking and ele is probably the strongest in terms of support as it has so many blast finishers with water and fire fields plus ice bow. Outside of this type of support, as in some actual healing skill for healing other players such as cure is in final fantasy, you won’t be seeing that in GW2.

I dont want play other game I just like GW2, the graphic, the combat, the UI is awesome.

So I just giving ideas to make it better. Its just idea so dev can read.

Yes every class has different unique skills. But this uniqueness make it harder to balanced.

What im trying to tell is every class can be carry, support and tanker.

For example in guild war 2, a thief is a carry. or mixed between carry + tanker, with low quality supporting skills and low hp to tank long enough.

Thief cant give greater heal (shadow refuge just give low heal, i want like water field elementalist), support buff like guardian and elementalist

I want Thief to be able to be a good tanker as well.

I’m a little confused as to the point of this thread? These generalized setups don’t have much play in GW2. You can go full damage while still giving more than sufficient support. No need to split damage and support.

Yes. But the different between a Support and a Carry is the effectiveness (quality) of the Support Skills Duration. Example a Carry can stun for 2-3 seconds, a Support can stun for 8 seconds.

Its just example and might chance for the balance sake.

Every class can be Carry, Support and Tank depends on their build

A Support expert at giving offensive and defensive buff to self and allies

Basically player can choose 2 of 3 specialization (carry , support, tanker)

1. Carry + Tank (Percentages% – Percentages%)

(a,bbb,c give explanation of 3 different build for this specialization)

a. 1v1 build (50-50, 60-40, kitten,etc),

bbb. outnumbered build (30-70, 40-60 high hp but with more damage, etc),

c. Tank build (high hp,etc), frontline. deal damage with good hp to survive.

Basically its the specialization that accumulated between hp and damage. its good when you in a solo/outnumbered fight. this specialization doest have long duration team support buff.

2. Carry + Support

a. High damage dealer. have offensive and defensive team buff/debuff skills. full dps ranged carry usually play this build

bbb. Good support that have balance damage and defensive buff/debuff as well

c. High defense support, healer.

this specialization can give devastating damage if the dps buff skills is fully used. it will give full team increasing damage

If player make a balance between offensive and defensive skills, it will increase teammates attack and hp as well.

Main problem with this Specialization is low hp. usually player use ranged weapon with this hero.

3. Tank + Support

a. Full tank player will choose this build, with high hp and high buff/debuff quality, it will be the best front line.

bbb. Balanced build that have hp and offensive supporting spells

c. Highly offensive support spells with a good hp to survive.

Main problem with this specialization is the hero itself cant deal high damage (medium damage the max), but can make other allies give very high damage.

Due to low damage, hero usually use melee weapon to lock down enemy so allies can finish them off.

Well this is all a lot of nonsense.

What exactly is the point of your huge list of class names. Class names don’t mean anything without a thorough explanation. How are those classes different than the ones that already exist? What can they do? What weapons can they use? What are their class mechanics? They’re just names. That doesn’t explain anything.

Your assertion that PvP is endgame is just that, YOUR assertion. Considering that you can do PvP at level 2 I would have to disagree very strongly. PvP is whenever you want to do it.

Endgame is endgame and a very large subset of players don’t want anything to do with PvP. Having the game open world PvP also destroys the entire concept and community of the game. The whole point of the game is that when you see another person you’re happy, or at least not upset, that they’re there. You don’t have to worry about them taking your crafting node, or stealing your kills, or interfering with you. The worse thing they can do to you is not assist. Otherwise they’re helping to complete objectives.

That’s how the game is meant to be played, not your weird skewed version of it.

If you regularly play other mmo’s, you will get the idea what class i mean. Its not just name. ill explain the class some other time.

So you play mmorpg like gw2 with lore like you are the hero of tyria, but……….u dont want to accept the challenge of pvp? the thrill the excitement, not just generic AI that a 9 years old can beat. Spamming 11111111111111111111

The fun is when u meet other player, they can be your friend or your rival. Like real hero. Son Goku defeat Vegeta but then they become allies. Then he even travel to Namek to defeat mighty Frieza and turn SSJ1

The world of pvp has endless possibilities. The excitement like a real adventure!!!!!! as you call your self ADVENTURER!!!!

PVE easily get boring. Living story is boring kitten. PVE with story quest is a hard work for a dev.

Mmorpg is repetitive game. Story will get boring when you leveling your alt character.

Meanwhile, PVP is ENDGAME. Its excited. Player fill their own story into it. Unique, high risk and fun!!!

Has ladder system, top 32 get rewards and selected for yearly tournament

B. Wvw matchmaking

20vs20 guild fighting (WVW,PVE Equipments)

has ladder system,top 32 will get reward and tourney qualifying

C. Wvw open world

Have 3 maps, 1 home world map, 2nd is enemy world map(changed every week) and eternal (shared) map.

Have season tournament. 1v1 (not 1v1v1)

D. PVE Map (megaserver)

PVE map will be open pvp. Players can kill others. Player that get killed will have 1 hour buff and cant get attacked by other player (this buff can be removed if the player want)

E. The game will be free to play. Free player can only have 1 character slot.

The dev will put premium member and free member accordingly in wvw server. Unless the premium member want to play in free player server is their choice.

Player that buy the game will get 24 exp booster (each for 1 hour), free horse mount, full set exotic gear of their choice, server choice, +2 character slots.

F. Legendary, Ascended items will be greatly different than exotic in term of stats. Meaning legendary, asceneded wielder will have a great power compared to exotic wielder. (free player cant equip ascended and legendary)

G. The game will be very balanced, no turret engi and cheese warrior. Every classes is effective in 1v1 and teamfight
