i dont get these people. good luck to you and your family. but more likely than not, you’ll be back =)
Whats so hard to understand about the average gamer being annoyed when they are working towards something and anet suddenly makes it much harder, in effect punishing them for behaviour that they haven’t engaged in? People tend to get annoyed when they have something and then it gets taken away.
what is being taken away? why do you have to have the top-of-the-line gear 3 weeks in? WHY?
IF this turns out to be wildly unpopular then ANet will rethink the change.
nah, they won’t.
I hope they do but I don’t expect it. To me it has some similarities to SWTOR, a developer with fixed ideas on how the game should be played taking anti gamer measures to force players into their narrow view.
theyre just trying to help you i think. imo, the general MMO mentality is “grind above all”, therefore theyre making the grind so bad that no1 will even try it. grinding to obtain epics is kinda like the American dream: “if i damage my mind and my body hard enough, then there has to be some sort of amazing payout, right? if not, then this game blows!”
(edited by nerva.7940)
im GLAD theyve nerfed profits. their vision is that full epix should be an actual ACHIEVEMENT, not something you can get in 3 weeks by grinding 24/7. playing for hundreds of hours over 2-3 weeks to max out your characters asap is a little sick imo. theyre just helping you and your family out man.
youre seeing “grind” (due to reduced rewards), and theyre seeing "longevity, i.e. u get less rewards over a longer period. i agree with the latter. i cant get myself to care about the people who cant see past the grind. hell, im only lvl 39 and i recently got my tier 1 cultural set. my guardian looks great, and im stoked to have this. you, on the other hand, are complaining than you cant obtain a max level armor set in 3 weeks of staring at the monitor all day.
if you guys shed enough tears though, im sure they’ll feel sorry for you and change it.

ive run into some missing male lines in the early sylvari missions.
3rd strike of the #1 chain is a non-issue. it does very decent aoe and it will hit as long as you keep on top of your target. the protection buff is hard to pass up. in addition, they buffed the hell out of Mighty Blow. it’s simply amazing. its aoe range is huge and has a short leap built in. not to mention it hits like a truck and spreads fields.
cool thanks /15
uh yes it does. it has a spammable finisher and above average damage. oh yeah, and the CC >.<
^ that. i really doubt they MEANT to penalize people questing in lower zones. they probably just wanted to apply this nerf to repeatable, grindable higher lvl DE’s. maybe im too low for t his (lvl 35), but ive been doing DE’s all day in Lornar’s Pass, no issues with rewards.
this encourages people to move around the world…it makes perfect sense and i think it should remain. however, it needs to apply the endgame content where people crowd around to grind.
players must get rewarded for traveling around the world, for example dragon boss drops should equal the rewards found in Orr. this is how u get people out and about
as you guys are aware by now, most DE’s in the game are exceptionally easy. we’re only seeing fail conditions if the players arent present. with decent groups, even if small, DE’s cant fail.
i was just doing a DE in Lornar’s Pass defending an NPC’s house from waves of mechataurs. we were stomping them before they could reach the house. i noticed one thing: every wave was the same, with the later waves simply spawning more mobs.
wouldnt it be cool if a DE took into consideration the rate of clearance, and rate of players’ health pool loss, and adjusted accordingly? say if our health bubble is full all the time and we’re stomping each wave in under 10 seconds, shouldnt the subsequent wave have more HP, hit harder or contain mobs with advanced tactics? is this feature already built into DE’s, and if not, is it possible to implement?
Guardian tanking in sPvP is problematic. It’s like how everyone used only paladins as flag defenders in arathi basin back in the day…except guardian doesn’t rely on a long cooldown bubble, they can keep that survivability going almost indefinitely.
not true. guardian are crumble under any decent condition/boon removal build. their area denial abilities are on long CD’s
i think they fixed a lot of the bugged DE’s in last night’s patch. as for my experience, im getting lots of DE’s in all the lowbie areas, lvl 35 right now in Lornar’s Pass. so far, im having the most fun here! DE’s are everywhere, theyre different, and the story is intriguing. if every zone was like Lornar’s Pass, i wouldnt complain

+1 on the stealth bug. this is bad in pvp. unless intended, in which case we need an explanation or something
no changes here. malware?
and one more for me. this is the Tier 1 norn cultural shoulder piece (got it today, yay). as you can see the long hair is once again the problem; it clips through the fur collar. this is a bummer for those of us who dont like wearing helms =)
for long hair i would suggest you either make it go completely under every collar, or completely over, while moving. the clipping occurs during the run animation as the character moves the shoulders.
in addition, not sure if intentional, but the metal shoulder pieces seem to float in air, away from the shoulders. if this is intentional, it could be a cool effect i suppose. thought id mention it anyway.
(edited by nerva.7940)
thanks Lauren. u guys did such an amazing job with the armor/weapon visuals. the clipping really does break the immersion for me though, especially with 1-hander holstering. fixes will definitely be very appreciated, whenever they come
in addition, i cant even preview any of the my 1-handers properly because theyre all “stuck” inside the leggings
+1 for really cool concept needing a bit of work to compete with other offhands!
staff/scepter/torch and consecrations all synergize very well, and are very very strong in WvW and PVE, and quite strong in spvp as well.
DE’s do change the world for a while…but as mentioned ad nauseum at this point…we’re not seeing any of the fail conditions, because we’re not, well, failing any of the DE’s. the need to be buffed big time, and once the bugs are ironed out, should be good to go until xpac.
but guardians dont NEED any more defense. you have virtues and defensive abilities on all of your main hands. instead, you get utility. if you want more defense, use the focus.
you dont HAVE TO grind. what’s the problem? as i said, either play the dungeons to have fun, or go do something else. if something else doesnt cut it, dont play the game. i swear, people’s minds seem to be stuck on repeat. u guys can’t even see a glimmer of light from your self-imposed box.
i dont blame ANet for not catering to such a fickle, high-maintenance crowd like the raiders/powergamers.
(edited by nerva.7940)
ANet delivered everything they promised and then some. you either werent following the game until you bought it, or youre…delusional.
I honestly did read your whole post, but my friends have already uninstalled the game after yesterday’s update and are already back on another game. Look I really don’t care if people disagree, but this company doesn’t seem to care about it’s customers.
i dont think they care for powergamers/raiders who devour content and expect to grind for purplez at endgame (even though they gave it to ya anyway). im glad they dont care for those customers because the game wasnt exactly made for such peeps. sorry. hope you and your friends enjoy the pandas. just another 6 days!
Sure i havent pvp’d yet but for the way pve is going..pvp isnt going to help at all. Thats my opinion.
you’re not exploring the world. if u were, you’d see the amazing amount of detail they put into the PVE. im actually blown away by the quest variety. i guess you have to have a certain kind of mentality to enjoy gw2 long term, i.e. be immersed in the world. or you have to love its pvp, like myself for example. it just may not be the game for u.
this may not apply to you, but people who have voraciously devoured 300+ hours of content, and are not enjoying the “endgame”, should probably…leave…instead of plaguing these boards with drivel relating to self-entitlement, instant gratification, lackluster rewards, etc. it’s a fresh MMO, end game will be sketchy because it would naturally be undergoing tons of tweaks. you should be ecstatic to have gotten so much endgame from such an ambitious game. not to mention all the amazing pvp =S

I’m done. The buff to dungeon npc’s was too much for me. I just tried to go through CM with 4 completely different PuG’s and failed every time. It’s always the same, we get to second boss kill him then get zerged by trash and repeatedly pummeled about 3-4 times in a row. Then i quit because at that point I pretty much know how it’s going to be the rest of the way. Repairs are also a pain.
In my opinion the dungeons where already a bit of a mess but they were still doable with a PuG.
EXPLORABLE DUNGEONS ARE END-GAME CONTENT. it’s supposed to be challenging. very challenging. what are you complaining about?
anyway, i see myself playing gw2 for years to come….my main is in mid-30’s, ive got 2 alts, and im rank 13 in spvp. ive done a bit of WvW as well. i feel like ive barely scratched the game. i can see dynamic content in future content updates and xpacs being amazing, and as long as they keep coming up with new content, i’ll be playing it! enjoying my guardian, mesmer, and engie currently. having tried all profs, i gotta say i like them all.
my sylvari warrior has his speargun always holstered at the wrong position and angle
doesn’t seem to happen with all speargun models
i thought about this too. i think the water is pulling it up due to buoyancy
are you kidding me? Valor is probably the strongest tree, and like others, it has a few useless things. but onto its uses:
- meditation specialization
- altruistic healing (one of the best traits in the game)
- glacial heart (if you cant see why having chill on crit every 45 secs, in addition to the sigils, is amazing, then i cant help you man)
- purity
in addition everyone who like dps should invest 10 in Zeal, and more for spirit weapon specialization. no tree is bad, but a few have more lackluster traits than others.
i dont use the shield, but 4 and 5 are game changers, simple as that.
guardians, warriors, and elementalists are the golden standard of balance. they have many viable builds. every other prof needs to be like them.
guardian has low burst, high sustained damage. i like power on 2-handers, precision for sword.
hi. this is the build i run with in spvp. it’s a lot of fun. hammer’s #2 now has a short range leap, making it incredible. it’s spammable. you can smash fields for buffs. build is 0/0/30/20/20.
- altruistic healing, shout cd reduction, inspired virtue; all the good stuff
- mace + focus = match made in heaven.
- sigils of hydromancy + Glacial Heart trait for chilling people all the time.
- renewed focus to cycle through virtues again to heal.
- rune of soldier (shouts remove conditions)
- Save Yourselves, Hold the Line and Signet of Judgement utility
have fun!

all one-handers when sheathed look like they’re jutting out of my bum or thigh or hip, across human, sylvari and norn models. any fixes on the horizon? even just placing the weapons a little higher on the waist and adjusting the angle would do the job i think.
The latest patch notes have left a lot of people further confused about how you want us to play the game. The vast majority of endgame desirables, as well as much of endgame crafting requires what most people would describe as a large amount of grind.
Some people are fine with grind, some are not. I won’t express an opinion either way. What I’m concerned by is the seemingly confused and conflicted philosophy that you appear to have on it. You set up endgame as a grind, yet you continue to expand upon measures to stop grinding. Right now, as a player, I’m not really sure what to do anymore, as all the things I’d like to work towards in the game require grind, yet you seem insistent upon stopping me doing so.
I understand that the change to dungeons is to encourage people to play a larger variety. I also understand that the mob-type loot-lock is to discourage botters. However, these measures infringe upon our gameplay too much, and are counter to what the endgame requires.
Can you help me and other players understand how you want us to play the game? Because right now, I’m not sure.
i’ll explain it to you. they dont want u to grind dungeons. if u must do so, grind explorables. they also want currency to matter. the end.
i just have one question about this stupid offhand. why are people still targeting me, and pounding on me while im invisible? shouldnt the use of this ability drop all targets?
the hearts were put in just to get us started. i foresee GW2’s future content being heavy on the DE’s.
if youve completed every dungeon in explorable mode and have 100% world achievement, and you dont wanna do spvp/WvW, and you dont wanna start an alt, then no one can really help you. it’s not ANet’s fault you devoured hundreds of hours of content in 2 weeks.
Since it keeps 1 non-threatening stack of confusion up on people it becomes easier to pile on more confusion later without drawing attention? That’s all I got.
i tried scepter/torch. scepter is horribad, or just not my style. confusion is meh.
cool. now can anyone convince me that iMage is decent? i need some arguments to equip the torch…Prestige is sooo good but i hate having near-useless skills.
i think GS/sword/focus would be best. sword is needed for the leap, and focus 4 for swiftness and CC. perfect for chasing people.
yea sword/focus is definitely solid. as i thought, and as confirmed by that vid, iMage and scepter suck. thing is i like the Prestige so much that i keep switching to the torch, even though its phantasm is useless.
and big surprise (not), staff is amazing, GS is mediocre. this explain why pretty much everyone rolls with staff, sword/pistol. kind of annoying, i hope ANet buffs Mind Spike and the scepter.
i would love to hear more from torch users!
thanks!
…..
/sign yes please. huge pain in the butt, goes against muscle memory when using all other offhands.
im having a really tough time deciding what offhand to choose, in both spvp and pve.
- pistol: 2s stun and some single target damage; seems appropriate for 1v1’s in spvp; seems underwhelming in pve
- torch: i love The Prestige, but the phantasm seems AWFUL (correct me if im wrong); pitiful damage, applies 1 stack of confusing at a time.
- focus: veil is really cool for the CC, and the phantasm does very decent PBAOE damage…thus far my favourite choice for pve.
otherwise, im using a GS because i like the pew pew feeling.
thanks!
DE’s and dragon bosses are way below expectations for me, even though the REST of the game is hugely enjoyable and above expectations. they need to do a huge once-over for all the DE’s and boss fights to make them challenging and to improve scaling.
Please submit bug reports if you’re encountering dropped audio in cinematic conversations. While we’re aware of a handful of missing VO files, you shouldn’t be having widespread issues like this. Screenshots or quotes from the text help us immensely.
VO’s are missing everywhere dude. i dont think youre missing that many files, so it’s probably a bug you have to work out. no matter what personal story (human, sylvari, norn), sentences are missing from NPC’s you talk to in the cinematics
i run with pain, daze and healing mantras, specced in mantras, in spvp. u get +12% dmg when theyre charged up, 3 charges on each. pew pew with GS, sword/torch when u need to live/burst.
mask issue on the longest human beard. same for every mask.
I have some greaves that have clipping issues the name is Seraph-Issue Greaves that i bought in kessex hills ,the balthazar was not there tho i used a transmutation stone but they always clipped even before i got the Baltazar rune on them
this “pants through skirt” clipping problem is on just about all of my characters. doesnt matter the item, pretty much everything.
