RNG Conspiracy Conundrum

It’s common knowledge the RNG is completely dependent on how much money you spend on the Gem Store.

Bull Skritt!!!

I have over 7k hours played and the only pre I got was venom and it sold for 30g then.. When I worked on my legendary I had everything done but the pre for months and finally threw in the towel and bought gems to convert to gold so I could finally finish my legendary. I’ve wasted more gold in the MF trying to get any pre and have never gotten one out of there either.. I’ve purchased several finishers, toys and countless other things from the gem store.. I farmed for a portal to beta over 60 hours before realizing that I was just never going to get one..

It is what it is but I can tell you some players are just luckier than others and it has nothing to do with how much money you’ve spent or how many hours you’ve played.

I was joking… :P

OP, you are more than likely falsely reporting players then. For Turret’s, Ground Targeting has always allowed us to place Turret’s on or against objects. Learn to target and range Turrets. If you have no range option in your build, then kindly unscrew your build.

Translation: “I’m a Turret Engi and am extremely angry my OP build is getting nerfed.”

Stay salty!

"No-grind philosophy"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I agree. I think this sort of thing is the best compromise. The thing, even though it’s a step in the right direction, according to Devata, it’s too grindy for his/her tastes.

Well if you’re going to make new stuff not grindy and not cost gold and not cost cash, I’m not sure what the options are.

Her answer is, repeatedly, new expansions, new content. She claims it’ll work but I don’t see the evidence for this. I don’t think in this day and age that a developer could put out enough new content fast enough to make a game truly buy to play with no cash shop.

Devata brings up another game but the DLC content which they come out with goes against the ideal plan.

This is the limitation of believing only one ways is good. If it was the only good way everyone would be doing it. I believe the way Devata wants the game to be run would result in less players and I believe it would be a tremendous risk.

There are basically 2 general complaints, one is rewarding grind and the other is content grind. I’m only using the word grind to fit with the topic, however.

The second complaint is the lack of substantial content additions over the past 2.5 years. This one, i feel, is due to releasing in China. So what they did add, often felt grindy, to keep players interested enough to do the “work” to get at stuff. This, i’m hoping will change with HoT.

The first part is actually pretty important though, even a bunch of the grindy (or harder to reach) achievements offer pretty horrible rewards. Many of them feel like a complete after-thought of just tossing something in the game to give players something to do.

As to one of the previous posts, the one about getting most things from anywhere in the game. That actually affects the reward system pretty negatively, since the loot table could be rather large, meaning players have an even lower chance at getting at the goods they want. It’s actually nice to see them rewarding things for certain content.

Grind itself is largely perceptual, but when you tack on artificially high amounts of materials and match it with lower than average drop rates, you get the grind mentality. Of which you see a decent amount of it being produced. Things like lodestones and even worse, giant eyes, and content really starts to feel grindy. Even ascended gear itself isn’t all that rewarding to achieve, many find the looks bad and many feel the stat progression is even worse. So you have a grind for an item that’s not really all that great to begin with.

All in all, the crux has been creating challenging content that also feels rewarding in the open world, something arena has been struggling with since release.

Interesting point about the game leading up to the China release. Maybe A-Net made the game super grindy on purpose just so all the gold farmers feel comfortable and at home?

Silly A-Net, saying they want to increase build diversity by only adding one subclass per character.

I think they will. With one specialization per class, they are all going to be completely OP compared to the regular professions. I can pretty much guarantee everyone will be forced to pick the specializations to survive PVP. It happens with every MMO that releases these kind of class updates.

How does 1 specialization per profession add to build diversity? Chances are, these sub-professions are going to be the meta builds for every class. There should at least be two per class. If A-Net doesn’t even have a release date yet, surely they can add 1 more specialization per class.

So… how many times are we gonna let our speculation run rampant, then blame Arena.net when it doesn’t match our self-hyped desires?

Seriously, how many times are the fans going to do this to themselves?

I logged in just to tell you… you are WRONG!!!!

How does it feel to be so sure and then have the exact opposite happen? HA!

I do not like the trickle-down content as much as just buying a huge expansion pack. This is exactly the news I was hoping for. Im glad there is no increased level cap and there are opportunities for classes to try new weapons.

that’s the worst possible moment for The Elder Scrolls Online that went b2p today ^^ not only GW2 is given away for almost free, but there’s also the addon announced this weekend. Man their forum is such a hate fest…never seen anything comparable lol

I don’t see this ever happening. If Heart of Thorns is an expansion, perhaps it will offer much faster leveling just like Factions and Nightfall did compared to Prophecies in Guild Wars 1. I can speculate all night, I just can’t wait for Saturday!

Go to the forums and complain. Every website’s comment section covering HoT’s release will be flooded with angry remarks as well. Yet Gem Store profits will remain high…

I really want it to be an expansion. This game could really benefit from one. If not, I’ll still play. I missed a lot of Living Story chapters that I could catch up on.

What did you want out of GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I wanted a continuation of the features that made Guild Wars 1 so great while also introducing new ideas to the sequel. Guild wars in this game do not exist at all, neither do halls or even capes. The only thing that would give GW2 the overhaul it needs is a paid expansion with increased level cap, new weapons, races and classes. I know the e word is a controversial one around here, but I just don’t like the living story formula as a long term plan for the game.

I’m still here because the game is just too kitten fun. Even with all of its imperfections it has the best combat system in any MMO I’ve played.

I agree with you OP. I don’t know why the devs thought excluding guild halls, gvg, or even capes from launch was a good idea. A sequel to a game should add on what made the original great, not take things away. Saying GW2 comes from the lore is a kitten poor excuse to not include some basic things from the first Guild Wars.

Maybe this fresh start will actually add G U I L D content. You know like Halls, GvG, capes and many more items ANET feels is unimportant but is the reason GW2 even exists. The devs seem so focused on the “living story” concept it’s causing other parts of the game to suffer.

This game should go the Diablo 3 route of having random loot but every drop is usable by your class.

GW2 and unique classes

I wish the secondary classes from GW1 would return. I would totally rock a Thief/Eng. No word yet on player housing or guild halls either. I know the living story is GW2’s crowning achievement, but this game could really benefit from a paid expansion. New races, professions, guild halls, level 90 and more PvP opportunities. I believe GW2 is lacking in love for GUILDS. Personally, I think guild owned airships would be an awesome addition.
