last night Southsun Cove was queued the entire time I was there from 6pm server time until I logged at 11pm.

Serious question, what’s Southsun Cove? I saw it mentioned after the patch a few times but I have no idea what it’s supposed to be. New zone? New dungeon? Do I have to go there to get ascended gear now?

I will take you at your word and tell you its the pve island zone added with the karka one time event deal a few months back. The May 14 patch added some more content to that. No dungeons; pve in the extreme (like some crab toss or grab or something like that).

I didn’t take it as condescending at all. And I mean it when I say we are aware that we need to improve our group tactics and are working on it.

imo Kalkz is a good commander, one of several on BP. Speaking just for myself, I’m glad we have him on the field, and beyond that forums are forums. We do lots of what you’re calling basic group tactics, to the extent we don’t perform to eBay’s level of group tactics at times it really speaks to the more casual nature of our server population, not the competence of our commanders, him included. I can tell you we are all well aware we have to get better, and are working on it.

EBay has lost in T5 to BP. When their numbers don’t show up, EBay is beatable in this tier. They also talk a lot of smack for a server unable to dominate enough to move up and stay there.

In fairness: once, the first time after they dropped, when I’m guessing they were pretty bummed and didn’t have good population. They’re beatable in individual fights, but overall they’ve dominated since then. Their failure to move up says more about T4 and this goofy glicko system.

It’s a little pricey, but if it was too easy you’d screw over the stealth mechanic too much. This is not for dueling a thief, it’s mainly for a stealthed enemy hiding in a keep you just flipped.

I agree with this 100%. Anyone who does not recognize ebay’s overall skill level is kidding themselves. It’s pretty obvious they have numbers over each of the other servers too, which results in a very difficult opponent.

I love how ebay guys recommend themselves or AR in tier 5, but not BP. I wonder why?

Mist form does not just delay death, though there’s no denying that was a huge nerf. It still gives you a chance to escape in some situations, just like lightning flash, and triggers boons if you’ve traited for that.

It’ll work well in pve, but I just think you’re giving up too much in wvw or pvp despite the buff. I do think using 1 sig in a utility slot makes some sense, especially earth for the toughness and cc (even w/o written in stone, you just have to decide situationally if you need the 20 secs of toughness or cc more). But not a full sig build imo.

If you decide to do T5, let me set some things straight about how each server is.

Anvil Rock seems to be a close-knit server filled with some skilled PvPers. While they don’t have much in the way of numbers, they make up for it with pure skill and strategy (which is how they’re second place despite BP and EB outnumbering them). We enjoy fighting AR every week, since they always give a good fight.

Borlis Pass seems to have a shaky relationship with each other (if their forums warriors are an indication), and has numbers yes, but unfortunately you don’t see much strategy from them at all, and quite a bit of their players don’t seem to be that skilled. We usually see them try to zerg to take a point (but we’re really proud of them when they show some good strategy). They’re close to falling down to T6, btw.

Ehmry Bay, the server I’m on, we’re somewhat of a combination of BP and AR. We’ve got the numbers, the skilled players, and strategy. We’re good enough to make it to T4, but we have no clue how well we’d actually do (we expect we’d get smoked, and probably like it as it’d give us a few new strategies).

That’s basically T5 servers in a nutshell.

I agree with your comments about your own server, but gotta say, you got BP all wrong. Not close to t6, and we are a very close knit group imo (basing that on forum warriors? c’mon). Skills etc. are in the eyes of the beholder, and certainly vary across the BP population. But we’re working on it because we live for ebay pride.

BP is probably just what OP’s guild is looking for, but I admit my bias.

There’s always air sig for 25% speed increase, if you’re willing to use a utility slot for that.

I’m not sure OP gets away with 2 rtl’s in 40 secs any more than 1. In my experience without immediate and significant separation when ele first decides to run for it, you’re not getting away. Eles certainly can still roam in wvw, but its not like that ever was safe.

GW has never been a static game, it evolves constantly. The devs see whet they perceive as problems and make some changes to solve them. Like any complex environment, that may then spawn unintended consequences. What is clear from this change and the 30 mins swords delay is anet feels the zergs running around totally ruling the maps is hurting wvw. Now the zergs cannot just blows the doors off every tower and keep, and then run back to their stuff to blow away a sieging enemy before it puts a dent in a gate. Did they go too far? idk, I played a couple hours last night and it didn’t seem that different, but that’s one night, and its tier 5, not 1. But I guarantee you this will not be the last tactics changing tweak in wvw, get used to it. And I just don’t see how people who really enjoy this format find it game breaking to the point of quitting (so tiring to hear that after every single update). Work on new tactics to deal with the new reality on the ground. It’s a level playing field, same new rules for all tiers. C’mon guys, don’t take your ball and go home, think your way through this and be better than your opposing servers.

Basically true, but GoE is pretty kitten good imo. Decent cd, good versatility due to the 4 attunement types, and just what the doctor ordered when our light armor is being ripped up. Seems like an ele would have a scary ranged aoe nuke option for an elite, but with the 5 aoe cap even that would not be that useful.

Yeah, I thought about FGS. But I can’t believe every one of these d/d’s had that. I personally don’t care for it all that much in wvw, though the elemental admittedly is pretty useless with or against the zerg.

At some point you usually have to put some space between you and opponent to heal up before charging back in. Right after the heal is a great time for GoE.

I’m a d/d ele, and I’ve dueled quite a few other d/d eles in wvw. I run glyph of elementals as my elite, and I usually pop it at some point in these duels. My opponents never use any elite. What gives? Is there some sort of dueling honor code that I’m violating? It seems like such an obvious advantage to create a second foe when you’re dueling. I realize they may be using other elites, but I have not seen any elites used in duels with d/d eles other than by me. What am I missing here?

The reason you aren’t going to see a week where AR and BP team up on EBay is the same reason you haven’t up until now. All you need to do is watch AR’s BL in the first few minutes off reset. BP cannot seem to help themselves and races to ARBL like a fat man to a buffet while AR’s major guilds go for EBBL and pugs hit eternal. I can guarantee that you’ll see it again next reset as well. If you are unaware you, as a server do this, feel free to watch the map next reset. AR and BP don’t work together because BP cannot control themselves.

There’d be some of that just because not everyone would be aware of the plan, but still worth a try. Numbers can only be beat with numbers, and BP and AR alone don’t have EB’s numbers. If everyone blows it off it’s a failed experiment. But if most BP and AR buy into it, it could shake up what is getting to be a pretty stale dynamic of this tier.

What’s your issue with “you ppl”? Anyway, I’m not defending exactly, though if you don’t know that someone used an exploit I think its pretty lame to accuse them of it, and even worse to report it. But I’m just asking. To answer your question, someone from BP who was on did explain—alpha golems. Impossible? Tell me why. Guy above says hills gate is a known glitch. Can someone explain? I’m pretty new, just trying to understand.

All you ppl claiming that some exploit was used by BP, even to the point of repoting everyone in the area, can you explain exactly what you think was done? It sounds like you have no clue and are making a huge assumption based on an unfavoable result. I understand why you are suprised, I’ve read your posts, my question is what exactly is this magic trick you insist was used?

What did they do? I don’t get banning a whole guild, even if it just the forums. Wouldn’t only the offenders be banned?

Nothing wrong with it imo, why would you waste your time reporting something so trivial? Just wp out if you’re offended. Nothing wrong with corpse sitting there and spying either. Cost is he’s out of battle, so there’s reasonable trade off. In general, if the game mechanics let you do something, it’s alright to do it. It would be easy enough to program the game to take you to nearest wp on death. Anet chose not to do that.

Random thoughts from a wvww newbie on BP:

1. what a blast!

2. the zerg is cool, fun to jump into and run with for awhile, but too numbers dependent for open field fighting, at least for my taste.

3. small hit squads are where are where wvw excels. Seiging towers and keeps, not so much. I know that’s where the points mostly are and am grateful for my team mates doing it, but its kind of so so on the fun meter.

4. tier movement seems nearly impossible, and with EB’s apparently superior server population and coverage, it seems that even moving to the top spot in tier 5 is all but impossible. I still love the ebb and flow of battle, but this system creates a sense of pointlessness.

5. why no points for kills? worked fine in allliance battles, don’t understand why its not here. Badges are great, but your server should get a direct benefit for each kill imo.

6. Kalkz haters: he’s a good commander I’ve run with several times. I don’t know what kind of trash talking or whatever might have gottern some of you riled up, but I’m glad he’s on our server. Very active on team chat and good at pulling the pugs and solos together for team goals.

7. EB and AR, I love you man! Seriously, keep coming at us hard, and expect the same. When the smoke clears I have nothing but respect for my “enemies” and mainly am just so glad you take it seriously enough to keep up the effort. Like any pvp mode this is only as good as the people playing it in sufficient numbers.

Exactly. I think it’s a bug like shock aura lasting so much longer than the other auras before the update.

There’s no kiting that charge move, and he’s very fast even when not charging. Problem is even if you RTL, lightning flash, etc. to stay out of the way why the zerg wears him down, you probaly don’t tag him enough for loot. I was the victim once and when I res’d at the nearby WP he ran up to greet me as I was re-entering battle.

That’s a known issue with that D/D fire shield. Not sure if it’s a bug or what. I was thinking it might just be an animation error too, but if you tested it and noted that your allies did not get the buffs I think that answers it.

Just a hunch, but as this is eldain’s second thread trashing the ele, neither of which sounds like he actually plays ele, I’m guessing he got his kitten handed to him by an ele, maybe several times, and this is his way of venting. It could be he’s a totally incompetent ele, or maybe these threads are just the best entertainment he can think of late at night in his parents’ basement. But I’m going with got his kitten handed to him.

Used a bunch last night, was able to do 2 blasts and an aura consistently, like usual. I think the duration is unchanged. Must be the lag.
