the question is does the harpy event happen? if it does then it can be used, you just have to wait for it.

Should Representation be Mandatory?

its a good question, but one I feel is difficult to answer.

while I have switched to the legion being my main guild, and therefore rep all of the time, it was a decision that took me a while to make. the guild I came from was made up of friends and I didn’t want them to feel like I was shunning them by changing. I had to make sure that what I do now was the right decision. it was, but like I said it took time. if having to rep was an original requirement to join, I don’t think I would have. I’m not saying it was like that for everyone, but maybe something to consider.

of course its different now, I’m behind this project and the guild 100%

no its not a bug, it happens if the event that takes place there has failed (or at a certain time between the event happening and its reset). you just have to wait for the event to come again and the tree/plant will go back to normal

its not always because of the pet, it happens to everyone. easiest way to work around it is to get to a place away from enemies in the JP, then log out to character select. when you log back in you are out of combat.

sorry, nope you can’t pay gems to instantly transfer. you’re going to have to wait it out

also are you playing on a desktop PC or a laptop?

could be botting, but it could also be someone else with a not so great connection, seen it when talking to someone who knew they were lagging and they appeared to me (I had no lag at the time) to teleport from place to place.

that would depend, some back items aren’t transmutable, however if it is, then yes, you can choose the options you want (backpack skin > ascended stats (inc infusion) > additions stats (if applicable)), just like you would any other item. like I said, just depends if it is transmutable, I don’t have one, so can’t say.

shame you’re having problems with the game. heres a few things that have worked for me in the past, so they might help you too (hopefully)

game crashing: if the game is crashing at portals/waypoints or anywhere in between, try deleting the local.dat. it will be re-downloaded in a smaller form when you next start the game. it can be in one of two places. either in the game’s installation folder, or in the game’s folder in documents.

I usually find any in-game stability issues are fixed by deleting that. it does reset your graphic options and makes the client forget username and password, but they’re easily put back in.

connection problems: theres a couple of things to try here, but you never know, one of them could be the solution you need.

1. the easy one. try adding /clientport 80 to the target box of the game shortcut. right click the shortcut and click properties, click after the last " in the target box, put a space in and type that (then click ok). this tells the game to use a specific port that is always open (because most things use it)

if that didn’t help try this

2. clear your DNS cache. first thing to do is open a command prompt window. then do the following:
*type in netsh winsock reset

• then type in ipconfig /flushdns
  *reboot your computer
  *reset your router

you can’t go cross region (NA/EU), which is a shame, because I for one would love to try dungeons with the people who are on EU servers (come on guesting!). you can go NA/NA or EU/EU though.

now, I will admit I know nothing about guild stuff, but someone who does I’m sure can fix this. we have no more room for people. which is awesome in one respect, because it means there are loads of people who have the same mindset about helping others!

I could be wrong about this, but I don’t think the transfer for gems has been implemented yet either. I think it will come with guesting when server transfers will all cost gems (still with the 7 day cool down)

like Kit said earlier, we always like going back to low levels, even now. the thing I don’t like about it is that in those zones (even at lvl 40) you are 1 or 2 shotting the enemies, and that doesn’t give anyone who’s actually at that level a chance. good for champs, but usual mobs, you’ve slaughtered them before the level 5 melee person even got close enough to hit.

oh yeah, I’m one of those crazies who did the clock tower for fun did it with human, asura and charr (which was the most difficult), then stuck with my asura for the rest of the time (he was fresh out of character creation then) jumping puzzles have to be one of the best things in this game for me. me and Kit randomly go around the ones we know just to switch things up, sometimes we find others there struggling with them and offer to show them the way. I’ve spent hours helping others get to the end (even showing them again because they fell). its great fun, full of laughs and you meet random new people who you helped get a chest full of shinies, how could it get better?

goes without saying I’d bring Kit (she gets dragged everywhere with me), dungeons are a fear of hers after playing WoW and how the people there treated her, but she’s willing to give it a try with you guys

I think doing a run with the people here would be fun. will be great to have a group to have a good time with and especially people who I can laugh with when I die pitifully lol

I’d like to run dungeons, well at least I think I would, can’t really say having never been in one, but the idea is one I like.

anyway, I would like to, but I don’t know how good of an idea that would be with the character I’m levelling (lvl 45 engineer, who I have now decided is going to be my “main”). anyway if someone would be ok with me coming along (I am open to advice and tips on the journey from anyone who’s gone before) that would be great.

and then theres that thing that bothers me the most. I won’t be able to run with alot of you, because I’m on a NA server so want guesting to come soon.

I actually enjoyed the last event, there wasn’t any lag like I got with the first event (that was just unplayable), sure there was some, but not bad. I had fun doing it, was the 2nd of the 3 I had done, because I skipped the actual 2nd one because of the lag the first one had. it did put me off. then Paul and Lexy spoke about going, and I thought it would be fun to go in together kitten you no guesting for not allowing us), still managed to play with Paul though, and Kit, so it was all the more fun. took 2 hours!! after my eyes hurt, lost a load of money to the armour repair guy, and collected a load of loot from the big chest. then I got booted from the login server (yay me!) so this is where the story ends. good times were had though

apart from the space (not taking up 5-6 slots) not much of anything, apart from convenience (make the entire set instead of just one piece at a time)

I am quite a rebel in that sense, I don’t use grenades. even though they are not especially viable I use a rifle and turrets (yes I do) and I don’t have a problem playing like this. this is what I enjoy. it doesn’t matter to me that its not particularly powerful, I enjoy it. that is the main thing here. if you enjoy using pistols, and are good at playing the game, why does it matter what others say or think. just enjoy it how you want to, play how you want to, because after all is said and done, who’s the one playing?

just to add to this, because I thought the AI would go for lowest first (like in a few other games) we compared stats, and I have higher stats than Kit, and I’m higher level. she now has a bigger healthpool I think, but thats only because she has started stating for elixers, it still happened before that though :/

is funny to watch it happen, when they all just run from her to get at me

Edit: just found this, which explains it. this is the aggro mechanics of enemies, specifically the order of importance.

I think Anet have made quite a few bad decisions recently. firstly with the new gear and the segregation that came with it (and this is just one or two pieces at that). I find it unfair that some will get left behind, not only on a gear level, but on a content level too. creating a gating system is all well and good, but when people who don’t have the keys are being pushed out of that content, then that is just wrong. all it will end up doing is creating a bigger gap, and stop the people who haven’t got the gear to stop asking for help or looking for groups because other people don’t want to play with them. its sad really that Anet would choose to do something like this, especially when I don’t remember this type of thing being in GW1.

fortunately though, even if I do manage to get this new gear, I personally will not go down the route of “ascended or no invite”, or anything else like that. I always have and always will do what I believe, and that is to help others, like I would hope others would do the same for me. if that means I have to stifle my progress, then so be it, the important thing is that someone else also got that progress too, and got to experience it.

honestly though, with all of it I am trying to sit on the fence, trying to see how it plays out after the event is over and see how it plays out. it might not end up as bad as I fear, but one thing is for sure, I am still going to do what I have been all along, and I know that everyone here will be too.

its under Explorer, and its called Diving Master I think

if they are in the same region (EU or NA server) you can party for instances, which is essentially what dungeons are. no need to transfer servers, just have to be in the same region (and the same map area at the time you enter)

Solid, why not add your name to the thread too, dungeons aren’t all people do there they’re just like you, players looking for other players to play with. + the awesome friendly atmosphere, you can’t go wrong

I haven’t done dungeons myself yet, but I think finding a better group of people to do them with would improve things for you to no end.

there are quite a few people who play dungeons in operation: union, why not add your name there? I’d feel confident running a dungeon with any of them

I’m not going to change class. despite the things that weren’t fixed, I still enjoy playing with my engi (call me crazy). not getting things fixed isn’t going to change that. do I want the fixes, yes, and they are needed, but it isn’t going to stop me from enjoying myself.

if you delete him you can re-use his name. I’ve done it before, so you should be able to as well

I think they either need to find a better way of merging threads, or stop doing it altogether, simply because the end result is such a mess. you can’t follow a thread like that, not with the many OPs and their replies shuffled throughout the myriad of posts in the original thread they were merged with.

do you both use the same ears? I don’t and I’m not seeing this problem so it made me wonder

I don’t see the problem with this addition. I always thought it was unfair that PvP players had to do PvE to get daily achievement bonuses, now they don’t have to. now they have the same perks as people who only play PvE. how is that a problem?

I don’t play PvP myself (it doesn’t appeal atm), but I see this as progress and a good thing for anyone who does or wants to try it.
