ok, lets take tailoring as an example.
when you start you can create some basic items, and refine jute (under the refinement list). refining mats usually takes you up a few levels, at least enough to create jute insignias. once you’ve unlocked insignias you can start discovering recipes, which will then be listed in the things you can create.

discovery works like this: if you create Jute Breeches Lining, Jute Breeches Panel, and a Malign Jute Insignia, you can then go into the discovery panel and put the items in there (one in each square). clicking create will unlock or discover the Malign Embroidered Pants. this kind of thing goes for everything. so create the individual components and then put them in the discovery panel to unlock them.

the log in server is down, wait a while for it to be working again, you’ll be able to log in normally then to create your ticket

I don’t think you’re wasting your time trying a few at once, I did it myself, and finally settled with engi as my main. I think alot of the professions don’t really come into their own until at least 30 (personal opinion), if they don’t feel right by then I’d say try something else. you’ll know when you really like something

I’m not sure when/if Anet will open up more servers, but it seems that most that are listed as full drop to high in off-peak hours. like you said though, it doesn’t really matter where the guild resides, as cross-server groups for dungeons are possible (EU/EU and NA/NA).

Edit: when are you normally on? and what dungeons are you looking to do?

yes you can transmute the look onto low level armour, but you will end up using alot of transmutation stones along the way to keep the stats up. if thats what you want to do though, go for it

ShadowMorgue, I’m not sure what server you’re on, but I’d group with you if you’re on Isle of Janthir.

I’m sure there’s someone in Operation:Union on your world who’d run with you. even if you are on Isle of Janthir, check it out anyway, if only to meet the great bunch of people, you never know, you might gain some new friends

yes, it stops you. it won’t let you re-use a dye you already have unlocked, and the hover tool-tip will tell you you have it also

funny you say that Glitch, I am trying to figure out a mesmer build (just started one). I did expect him to be alot squishier to be honest. Kit’s guardian went down, I took on 7 enemies alone and survived just to pick her up. I expected to go down quickly after she did, came close a couple of times, but won in the end. anyway, back to original point. any mesmer tips? I’d be grateful for them

instead of rushing to try and get them done before 6pm, why not try doing them after 6pm instead? that way the next day you don’t have to worry about them, theres no rush and you can play as normal until after 6 again. just a thought

rifle/elixir gun build can work. if you go 20/20/0/30/0. if you chose rifled barrels, fireforged trigger, fast acting elixirs, cleaning formula 409, and maybe protection injection, incendiary powder and acidic elixirs. and for skills have elixir gun, elixir B, elixir S and elite elixir X. might not work for everyone, but its something I’ve messed with

engineers are viable without turrets (if you look in the engi forum you’ll see how many don’t use them mostly because they get destroyed easliy). I’ve played around with a few ways to play, I decided to go with rifle and turrets (rifle, net and rocket) because I’m rebellious that way and wanted to make turrets work, although I do switch out a turret for grenade kit, but it depends on the situation. you can do a load of other things though, like elixer gun and elixers, or grenades, bombs and flamethrower. honestly there are loads of choices, most of which don’t use turrets. have a play with things, go to the mists and test kits and traits, and find what you’re comfortable with

and leveling for wintersday, hmmm, not sure on that. when halloween came around I had a level 60 ranger who I did most of the events and stuff with, but I also started playing my engi then too (he was level 10) and I was still able to do most of the content with him. my engi was 30-something when lost shores came, and I did phase 1 and 3 with him no problem. it all depends on what the content will be. saying that, if its a collection quest that sends you into higher levels there will more than likely be loads of other people going that way too. if its like the lost shores battles or the mad king dungeon you’ll probably be levelled up. so really, I’d say it was up to you if you level more or not, either way you won’t be alone in the events, there’ll not only be masses of other players, but also guild members too.

Isle of Janthir is fairly active, of course it can depend on time. there are a fair few on at the weekends, and GMT evenings, if you play then.

was great fun playing CM last night, thanks to everyone who was there, its because of you lot it was so great. we all died a few times, but thats half the fun right? and it wasn’t broken!! yay for not broken!

there isn’t a first person view as of yet, so it isn’t a bug you’re experiencing. unfortunately there isn’t much you can do about it either, apart from wait for Anet to put it in the game

are they both the same type of sword, for example greatswords? if not then that could be why it won’t let you transmute them, was just a thought

as much as I’d love to say IoJ, I actually agree with Lexy here. if you’re looking for an EU server, I’d definitely go with Gunnar’s Hold. not only are Lexy and Glitch on there (which is reason enough if you ask me), but I also hear that it’s a great server to be on.

welcome to you like DEKeyz has said, theres quite a few who love a good dungeon run, and they’ll make a first run a good one.

oh and yeah me and Kit (and Akamon) LOVE jumping puzzles, so if you ever get stuck on where to go in one, just give any of us a shout and we’ll point you in the right direction. the breached wall is a sneaky one, especially how they put a skill point and vista up there too XD

I usually go to the Thaumanova Reactor in Metrica for all my dailies (apart from gathering, which I do in the surrounding area) all kinds of different enemies spawn there, the event chain that goes through the area is enough to complete it, and its fun.

like Lexy said, starter zones are good places to do them in, and Metrica just happens to be my favourite one.

on a separate note: you know what I love about doing JPs to “reward” myself for failure, not only the fun of the JP itself, but the people you meet in them. met a nice guy there today, who we helped through it. turns out he’s been on quite a few dungeon runs, I told him I’d pester him if we need one extra anytime (or a guide lol)

I didn’t mean to sound patronising, so I am sorry for that. it was more of a statement based on my own first time experience, and that you mentioned repair costs outweighing the reward. I should have found a better way to say it. I wasn’t suggesting that you don’t play well, or that you can’t hold your own, but that it can be an unforgiving environment. nothing more than that. sorry if it sounded different, it wasn’t my intention.

I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your dungeon run(s), I had my first experience of them yesterday. I’m not interested in the armor, but the experience of it was fantastic! even if what I got didn’t cover repair costs (which it more than did), the experience alone would have been reward enough for me.

Glitch is right though, they do need a different way of thinking, which I think needs practice to get. you never know, with a few more runs you could get to the point where you’re not going down all the time.

I don’t know, maybe its just me, but I had a great time, even lying there dead because I did something stupid, but you know what, it was my first time, and I know I’ll get better at it, and I’ll enjoy it all the more well as long as people are good with dragging me around there.

there are a few that will be migrating over at some point. one is having some very hefty family problems at the moment (so taking a break from the game), and my (soon to be) brother-in-law. so watch out for an influx of Isle of Janthir peeps

I do agree that a support team, who is always around, is a great idea (as long as I can be on jumping puzzle duty ). I’d be up for being one of those people, but in the end thats up to you (oh yeah ball in your court)

you can buy it for karma from heart vendors in bloodtide coast (can’t remember which exactly though)
