Shatter, front line. People get scared when the clones blow up in their faces. It’s a lot more fun than sitting in the back playing glamour.

This. Sometimes I feel like a thief, popping in and out of stealth and using my clones to distract. This playstyle is definitely a lot more fun than a long-range mesmer.

Having said that, I use gsword, s/t, so I still have that long-range playstyle open to me.

Along side to this, us mesmers should go on portal strike!

No more portals in WvW until everyone starts QQing alongside of us for our confusion damage back!

Hey guess what, i play an Engineer and i also use Confusion. You might not remember me because Engineer doesnt stand out. But this also nerfs me, you know, the least played profession…

But yah, go on about how this is a much needed/outrageous mesmer nerf. Its okay, the devs care equally little about Engineers.

See that’s the thing though; something that a lot of people don’t realise (basically EVERYONE who hasn’t played a mesmer) is that confusion is the only viable condition that mesmers can stack reliably.

Any other class that’s traited and geared for condition damage will ALWAYS have better condition application than a mesmer. Note that I’m talking about damaging conditions, not CC.

So a mesmer that’s specced for condition damage will generally ONLY be applying one condition – confusion. Sure, you’ll get a few bleeds here and there from your staff procs, but really – that damage is easily ignored.

An engineer, on the other hand, that’s specced for pure condition damage, will have dual pistols and an elixir gun, AS WELL as your tool kit for your wrench #2. So you guys still have your bleeds, your poison and your burns to fall back on. We don’t.

Another trick you might enjoy when downing somebody is to phase retreat back, and before the downing animation ends, blink to their original position. This mitigates a guardian’s/engineer’s knockback. Ofcourse, this is also applicable to thieves that use their downed teleport skill, or ele’s mist form – just blink to where they step, and you should be able to down them without interruption.

Ofcourse another trick, not necessarily relating to phase retreat, is to pop your invulnerability shatter 4 just before downing somebody (or during the animation) to avoid the knockbacks. And hopefully everyone knows to prevent somebody from resing an ally, or downing an enemy; shatter 3 is an excellent option.

So we have a scenerio that we have been seeing all night.

Zerg caps keep A and goes to cap keep B. A dead mesmer in keep A won’t leave and wait for rez by a hidden thief who bug into wall with stealth and wait till safe and rez the mesmer. Then mesmer port friends in to keep A and re-cap it again before zerg even cap keep B. Then zerg comes back for keep A and the same thing happens in keep B all over again. The result is the 40 man zerg is running between the 2 keeps the whole night by few invaders in each keep who use the thief/mesmer combo.

Maybe this is not new topic. Maybe it’s good for casual players like me who get to enjoy free karma/exp :P But it surely is boring. Feels like running COF p1 gold farming over and over. This is intended, then WvW will get old pretty soon.

As a mesmer, I know a great counter to this, that those 40 man zergs can apply!
A proper keep sweep!

Even just leaving one person behind (which out of those 40 people, SOMEONE will be willing to do), to keep an eye on the suspicious, non-waypointing body, would be an easy counter to this dilemma.

Really, if your zerg isn’t doing a tower sweep for both dead AND alive players, you deserve to have it back-capped.

Hey, I just wanted to give a shout out to IoJ. The guys in EBG who took back their keep… Great job you guys, it was a heck of a fight. I could not have been easy to hack and one shot the T3 doors and one shot all of our siege with an elementalist. The battle raged on for about 35 seconds on a T3 keep before they finally broke into the Lord’s room, from start to finish. BRAVO ZULU.

I understand that kitten talking is a part of every game, and there’ll always be the occasional troll that takes it too far… But I didn’t actually think a blatant accusation of hacking would occur in the first 24 hours of a match-up, haha.

Maybe, before you guys go ahead and accuse a server of hacking, you should speak to your own guys first. Like Alexina said above, that door appears to have been broken down already.

Personally, I’ve run with a lot of the guys in that screen shot, I know most of the guilds that I see there. I also know that none of those people, including the two commanders that I count there, would stoop so low as to “hack a door”.

Hopefully next time you accuse us of something like that, you have a word with the other guys there instead of blatantly saying in map chat “IoJ is hacking”.

Otherwise; good fights SF! It’s been a lot of fun for me so far – although I’ve only been playing small-man at the moment in your BL/DH BL. Some very fun 1v1 and 1v2’s so far.

The reason for this is that I am Australian, and I have to play on empty servers during the time that I can play. It is with the deepest regret that I take your fully upgraded towers and keeps with minimal or no resistance.

Either way, I’m done with this argument. It’s gotten to the ridiculous point of “hurr who gangs up on who, more than the other team”. Every team does it, and every team attempts to exploit the other teams’ weaknesses.

Well, it was fun in that it was challenging. There was a lot of pressure on me, personally, in that fight a few times. You just got caught in a bad death cycle where people couldn’t get back from respawn fast enough to gather for a proper push and people had to trickle in to keep the camp contested.

We appreciate the fighting spirit there. Most would have just given up and let the camp slide.

Haha, yeah. I was that stupid Asuran mesmer that kept running right in the middle popping my clone burst, whilst trying to keep my invulnerability and stealth up for as long as possible.

But dare I say it… I hate how much AoE you guys have! :P

I was the one leading the group into pangaloss.. I had no intention of going for veloka or ogrewatch, you guys just don’t understand the concept of leaving umberglade alone, so every once in a while I go camp pangloss with 10-15 people for 15 mins until ioj comes with a 40 man zerg.

Are you sure? Because I downed a commander that was aiming a catapault at Veloka’s front wall. That doesn’t sound like camping Pangloss to me. :S

Edit: I’m also fairly certain we had the outmanned buff on us… But that could have been due to DH’s numbers.

Maybe next time you should take that as an example before judging a WHOLE server based on your singular experiences.

I admit, the week before last we were pushing you guys a fair bit, because we knew that that’d bring us the most points whilst keeping us in second place; but since then I know that the commanders that I’ve been following have laid back away from you guys.

Also, don’t act like your server doesn’t push us whilst we’re pre-occupied with DH ourselves. It’s happened on plenty of occasions, and I’m sick of hearing that we’re the bad guys because we take your absence, or pre-occupation, as an advantage.

We dont want alliance, we actually laugh on how they cower behind DH. IoJ, most of the time attack us when DH are attacking us too. and when DH failed in their attack attempt, IoJ back off too, i hardly seen IoJ take the fight directly to our face, instead they are just like worm that eats the leftover, if they want a fight and recognition then knock on our door when we are nt busy dealing with DH, not just capping our Right side of our map tower(QL) while DH is trying to cap our Brav. of course i dont hate opportunist, but i hope they dont press V (dodge) the fact that they are cowering. which will make this a WWvW

That’s pretty funny, considering about an hour ago we were pressing Wildcreek, and behold who turns up and tries to do a sneaky on Veloka! Devona’s Rest! You wouldn’t happen to have been in that zerg there, would you? Because I recall us wiping you guys as you tried to run back through Pangloss… We even had enough time to make a counter attack on DH as they began pressing Anz.

I can’t comment on anything that happened after that because I had to go, but I could name a fair few more times when we’ve been pressing DH, only to have you guys start taking over our BL (ie reset night), or when we actually tried to get DH off of your backs – purposely leaving you guys alone (ie when you were defending SW tower in DH borderlands yesterday, with the DH zerg pressing it from the south).

But that’s alright – I won’t insult you guys, as I’ve still got a lot of respect for a lot of your players.

Had a really annoying run-in with ADNoQQBtsy at the south-east camp yesterday morning. We were being pressed by DH at that stage, and you guys showed up right after that haha – sadly we couldn’t rally enough numbers to make a proper push WHILST keeping the camp contested; it must have looked quite pathetic having us slowly trickling in like that. Luckily we had the outmanned buff on, so no repair bills for us!

What happened up at IoJ BL a few hours beforehand? It seemed to me to be a mass suicide by you DDLG guys. It got a chuckle out of me, though. :P

I quite like this idea – alongside titles this could be quite nice.

It’d also give the commanders in charge a rough idea about what sort of a group of players they’re running with – they’d know exactly what sort of potential damage their team/zerg/group/whatever could do (ie. if you’re running with plenty of low-ranks, you could reasonably assume that they’re not as experienced as a zerg full of higher ranks).

Ofcourse there would be exceptions to this; alts, players that have been running purely for Wxp since the update, etc. etc, but a rough idea could still be given.

No, what he said is that 35 of us ran from 15 of them whenever they put up any kind of resistance. That is a pure flat out bald-faced LIE. Everyone who was there between the bay and SW tower last night knows it is a lie.

He did say that, but he also said that he understands that as your strategy, now. And it is, isn’t it? I mean, I’ve seen you tear our zerg to shreds using it – seemingly no resistance, only to flank us from the sides. I’ve even complimented you guys myself, earlier in the thread.

I can’t comment on the numbers or anything, because I wasn’t there, so he could have been overstating; but what I’m trying to get at is that you guys always seem to take everything so pessimistically, and it’s really kittenting up these threads, haha.

I think what he’s trying to say is that what may not appear to be a rouse to stretch the zerg became apparent to him as one that night, and he commends you guys on your ability to pull it off. It seemed like a pretty clear-cut compliment to me, anyway.

Poor compliment, or not, there’s no need for you guys to pounce on him regarding an innocent misunderstanding that was made by you. You guys always get so aggressive! Chill out.

Anyway, enough kittening – I was flipping camps with two friends and a pug tonight in DHBL as I’d gotten sick of seeing EB green and wanted to contribute a few points for us. After about an hour and a half of running around the map, back-capping what you DH guys were grabbing, you got smart and hid on the scaffolding – something we only noticed at the last moment… Too late for our little pug guy to notice! Haha.

That was a fun little fight we had up there; too bad a few of us rallied from those wolves/rams/whatever, or it would have ended a lot sooner! I think it was [SaS], but I’m not 100% certain..

Haha, good job DH, especially the few of you in [Abys]. You found me hiding in SM once again – it seems you’ve learnt from your past mistakes! :P

On a side note, and in relation to the [Abys] guild, I’d just like to say it’s always been very fun seeing you guys on the field and fighting you!

I also had my second run-in with [AD] today behind Bluelake, which was quite fun. Props to the… human thief, I think it was, that managed to kill me as I pulled him away from his main group.

IOJ takes SM in 2 seconds flat while DH sits on our thumbs and wondered where our waypoint went (oh hay, wasn’t that supposed to contest at some point??). Any takers? Haha, I think I know what you’re talking about with the IoJ flip of SM.

We first attempted to steal SM off you DH guys with a few golems, but you stopped us abruptly as soon as we broke through the inner gate and tried to storm the Lord’s Room. I quickly saw that this wasn’t going anywhere; so, being the nifty mesmer that I am, went around the corner and hid behind a wall. Surprisingly lucky for me, DH didn’t seem to care about any potential mesmers and neglected to do a proper sweep.
