I dont mind uploading a VOD from my Twitch channel to youtube if people would like that and find it easier. There is now a highlight of the whole broadcast on my channel if that helps. I know Anet will bring out there own VOD so dont want to encroach on that
Well it would be nice if someone did. I figured it would have been posted all over the place instantly, to get as much public attention as possible. Just like the horrible timed live stream though, it wasn’t thought over well on making it easy to view after the fact. (Not your fault). Maybe poke at em a bit since you got the inside edge, to see if they can hurry it along?
The coverage on the NA/EU site for the event however is terrible in comparison to China’s GW2 site. Where are the recaps, photos, interviews, etc? Can’t even watch a VoD on the GW2 main twitch channel…
This was a huge event and nothing even on the homepage today…. Where is the support for esports?
We are seriously lacking the enthusiasm from the people on this side of the world; that are suppose to update this stuff. Real sad when the only people trying to keep the e sports alive in the company are the shout casters. China’s been in the game 6 months and they seem to be doing it correctly. Maybe a “change in positions” is needed for who is responsible for all this.
considering the terrible planning for making this event available for the entire fan base to have a legit chance to watch live you shouldn’t be surprised that they have made no effort to promote it even on their own website or twitch channel.
if i was on the EU or NA side of the team i would feel embarrassed by how little the team cared about promoting something significant about the game.
honestly though, do game devs/producers not hire knowledgeable and experienced marketing people? almost every mmorpg i’ve played has had a kittenty marketing team. its not even hard to appeal to gamers either. makes me wish i had chose a different career path 10+ years ago, it would be easy to be a name in marketing in this biz with the talent currently present.
i queue solo almost always. since the patch every game except for 1 or 2 has been lopsided, whether winning or losing. several have ended with the losing team having less than 100 points. honestly, this isn’t fun at all, i want to win every match i play but i also want to have to battle for it, whitewashing or being whitewashed is about as lame and boring as it gets.
are the matches going to be posted on twitch anytime soon? preferably english commentary
btw what a really dumb time to have the finals. why would you ask EU and NA to watch at such stupid times during the work week. this shouldve been done on a friday or saturday nigh.
i really enjoy the shortbow too, honestly the longbow is boring to play. i am doing well with it in pvp so far. i prefer muddy terrain over sharpened edges as it makes it far easier to position yourself properly against your target and is more helpful to your team overall. plus shortbow has an evade which i find more useful then a knock-back. add in the s/d and you become difficult to hit with all the evades.
Can you elaborate? We have plenty of things we can tweak to improve matchmaking now, so qualitative feedback is useful.
I do like the voting system. Dang all of you that vote for Skyhammer.
However, I have two beefs with the new system.
1) I don’t like having to go to the mists to queue up. Its boring! Yes it is a quick pop now, but will it remain that way. Maybe add more stuff to do in the mists or add dueling. Just give me something to do there than what exists.
Or allow us to queue from anywhere again and give a shorter window to join/accept. This imo is the simplest solution.
2) Soloq and teamq should be separate, especially in ranked matches. I only played a few matches yesterday and none of them were close battles, very lopsided. soloq used to have way closer matches more often.
1) allow players in queue to join match in progress. give them a boost or something for it. player that joins does not have it go towards their ranking.
2) games that end in 4v5 do not count for ranking.
3) you could give the 4 man team a stat boost that makes it a bit more even.
4) grace period to rejoin match (not all DCs are on purpose)
well i cant decide still on what profession i want to actually play, they all have their own fun and one hasnt really stuck out to me as “the one.” Warr, Ranger, and mes are the front runners working on getting each one worked up to the first dungeon.
i started on weaponsmithing and leatherworking (they seem not to use the same materials too often). they are both only around level 40-50.
i did do a lil bit of cooking but the few items i made are soulbound and cant transfer to other alts, so i didnt look much into it.

ive been playing for a couple weeks now, figure its about time i work on my crafting. which crafting skill(s) do you think new players should focus on working up? one of the 3 armor crafting skill seems like a good one for making bags, especially since i am goofing around with multiple characters/classes still. but what do i focus on for my second skill? match a weapon skill to whichever i decide to main or go with a chef/jeweler?
i play LoL/mobas and various mmorpgs. and honestly you can’t really compare them. imo MOBA style games a very simplistic even at the top levels its still a simple game to understand without knowing anything.
the pvp in mmorpgs tends to be alot more complicated especially the more complex and varied the build possibilities are. the game modes themselves are simple and easy to understand but the combat and strategies are often much more complex and hard to understand.
i may have just started playing GW a short while ago, but it is definitely not a spammy game from a players perspective. i haven’t listened to the commentary at all so not sure if they make it out to be like that.
i’ll agree tho that moba style games are much more viewer friend for the layman.
2 – If I had a dollar for every stun ability in this game…I spend more time stunned than I do in control of my body. It’s extremely aggravating to have my character immobile for half my play session. Make combat smoother and more mobile, not based on annoying stun-locks.

In addition, it’s far too easy to escape. I like that there’s a system that slows people down in combat, but there are too many ways to become invisible or teleport around and kitten out of a fight. If someone wants to, they can indefinitely pop moves to evade someone and keep healing and the fight doesn’t end until one player gets help from allies.
if its so easy to escape then why do you spend so much time stunned?
Well hold on, I like PVE, I’m not saying that should draw most of their attention away from that. I don’t think that they’d need to lessen the content of their PVE to create some sort of rank system that would give that sense of achievement that players obviously want. Honestly, if there’s anything players have been asking for in the PVE realm, it would be more party instances, so I’m not sure if not implementing dungeons would be the right approach either :P although I agree with you that devs shouldn’t be confused as to why their pvp community is shrinking if it’s just not on par with the rest of their content. I like GW2 PVP, I just don’t feel like I’m getting anywhere, even if I am. Or heck, more importantly, I don’t even KNOW if I’m getting anywhere.
i dont mean negate pve all together. i mean instead of it being 70/30 in favor of pve, make it 70/30 in favor of pvp. most mmorpgs are balanced for pve which doesn’t always work out very well when applied to pvp.
instead if you design and balance the game around pvp and then add pve to that content that matches the balance and combat of the pvp i think the game would turn out better and more challenging for both aspects.
I think the population of PvP is too small to be talking about tiers
it is proven in many studies that people will play for rank. and when achieving that rank is clearly laid out (as in the ranking system makes sense) you will attract more people to compete. alot of the games that do well have a pretty easy to understand ranking system, no ELO type garbage.
so implementing a sensible type of ranking system will actually draw people to want to play.
and even if it is a small community, you can still separate people into tiers you just have less tiers and more mobility. the key is to not let your best players sit in queue for long periods.
i dont think any MMORPG has figured it out yet, i also dont think that any MMORPG out there really cares at all about making pvp something…they might just be finally figuring out that the real money is in making PVPers and not PVEers happy. i’ve had far too many convos with devs that dont understand the reason that their pvp community is small is because the pvp of their game is bad. and if they focused more on that then making another dungeon that gets old in 2-3 runs they would have a higher player retention. im hoping the the emergence of esports might open their eyes.

and thats not all. LoL didn’t blow up overnight it took them several years to get in the position that they are in. this game can make something similar happen but i dont know about the figures you are drooling over are realistic for this game anyway.

not very good at mesmer but its fun, might have to go with an “easier” class to get a better understanding of the game before i continue working on that one. pretty much just got owned everywhere i went in WvW.
still just enjoying working each class up to about 15-20 to see which actually jives with my style of play.

the “authorities” should never be called. just laugh at them report them and move on. a hollow threat from a 2 year old should not warrant you calling the cops and having them go all SWAT crazy guns blazing on some idiot behind a computer acting tough.
Go to metabattle.com, you can currently browse from 40+ working pvp builds. Making a PvP build is free in most cases, you should be able to try almost every build without spending gold/skill points (you can also pvp from level 2 so just make a new charatcer if you want to try a new class, you don’t have to level it).
Btw your descriptions fits ele, dps guardian and engineer IMO.

and if i understand it correctly all i have to have is a lvl 22 character and then i can play with any character regardless of lvl in pvp?
Aside from the healing sounded like Mesmer. Thought depends on whether you play EU or NA as both Meta’s are different and some builds will work in one Meta that would not in the other.

i was playing my mesmer more yesterday and its alot of fun. enjoy it more then my ele.
being able to be a healer isnt important but i do find it fun. usually seems to be the most underplayed role in mmos.

Just picked the game up after wanting to play for so long. I’m having trouble deciding what class I want to play. I will be doing pretty much 99% pvp once I get going. However, after playing the classes that intrigue me, none stand out to me as the “one”, I find most of them fun in their own way. So I was curious on opinions about what class to choose, I typically like playing ranged, healing, and/or fast moving melee dps. I like ganking players and team battles (large and small). What class is useful across all pvp modes? What class is under played but very good to have in a meta?
