I’ve guested all servers and no disrespect to any other server, but Piken Square is by far the friendliest server out of all EU servers when it comes to trying to have a friendly conversation in map chat.
It’s not just the name calling and the ranting either.
Someone shouts “Oak up” – someone else who is on the train at Boar says “wait for train” or “don’t kill” – doesn’t even say please, as if it’s a divine right to the train.
If this doesn’t tell you what’s wrong with the Champ Train nothing will.
way to necro a thread, so worth it too.
I couldn’t find the “Kill the Champtrain” I originally commented on because of the broken search system so I though “It’s the same topic” so might as well say it here

Which race in Tyria invented perfume?
The Scent-aurs.
:) Seeing as if we’re playing Hours Played Top Trumps….
(p.s. I still have not legendary either!)
And this snowballing of people purposely derailing the train because someone is raging, and someone raging because someone derailed the train, is like a snake eating it’s own tail. This, is the same reason why the Champ Train needs quashing.
I’m in full support of anything that will end the champ train drama now. I’m from Piken Square and I’m always defensive and saying how great the community as a whole is on the server. I always believe and always will believe Piken Square is one of the friendliest servers to new players on the EU side, perhaps the friendliest.
However, the champion train, especially in Queensdale, is getting very toxic that even I am starting to question it. There isn’t a single day that goes by when someone isn’t calling someone a bad name just because the train got ‘de-railed’ when someone kills a champion through normal means.
The champ train is a very good thing to have for players who wish to earn gold, XP or Karma for whatever reason, but they have to understand that the game was not designed by Arena Net, and the game was not designed around the champ train that players have created for themselves. The champ train should be seen as a privilege not an absolute right.
My recommendation is to either limit the amount of champion loot bags a player can get from each champion per day (say, 5 Troll bags, 5 Oak bags etc per day) or just not give out champion loot bags in starter level areas altogether.
As someone mentioned earlier in this thread, when people start using inflammatory language towards people who are casually going around killing a champion because they are either new, don’t read map chat, or actually want to play the game as it was designed to be played, it leaves a bad impression on new players, and makes them wonder why they bought Guild Wars 2 in the first place. It’s a shame because Guild Wars 2 is otherwise a fantastic community based game too.
It was on reddit. So it MUST be true…
One trick Mac Beta users can try is to log on to a Windows Client (either through Bootcamp or a Windows PC if they can), and lower the graphics settings in options, then try logging back into the Mac Beta. When I tried this, I found my graphics were set to almost everything highest. I don’t know for sure if this fixed this, but it sounds feasible to me, especially since some graphics settings available on PC version are not on the Mac Beta.
It seems to be working for me now – and I’m not even on a machine conforming to minimum specs!
Model Name: iMac
Model Type: 21.5-inch, Mid 2010

You actually got it working? I must have been doing something wrong then, because I could never get it to work! Anyhow, it doesn’t work now, so I suppose I won’t anyway. Also – I don’t think it’s a properly implemented tool anyway – it’s there in code, but it’s not officially part of the release as far as I’m aware, so they might not be able to help you anyway – Mac or PC.
Just been told they can no longer help me – totally gutted. Might have to dual boot now, which is something I never wanted to do!
Oh well, it’s only a game, right? starts sobbing
Still getting problem after trying all the tips after the latest update. Still not fixed – when I’m in windowed mode though, I am getting a white screen instead of a black one if this is any help?

“Definitely not supporting this company any further until they start supporting us.
On the contrary, I believe they would start supporting us if we show we support them by buying stuff from the Gem Store, and they may realise that the Mac Beta people are a larger chunk of the whole community and would lose a lot if they lose us. If we don’t support them, what have they got to lose?
I tried all the steps, and GW2 wouldn’t load at all after I deleted the support folder, even though it did create a new folder.

I’ve tried this step too – luckily I copied the folder from the Library to an SD Card rather than delete it. I’ve submitted ticket and updated with this information. I’m fairly sure it has something to do with everyone’s graphics options being reset at the patch. Last month’s patch my graphics were reset to lowest, though then I didn’t get the black screen then.
I personally would find it too much UI, and the bar gives some idea of how much health they have anyway. But others will share your idea.
Mine is Backspace.
It could be a kingfisher that delivers your mail whilst underwater!
Piken Square [EU] and Tarnished Coast [NA] are unofficial RP servers, and whilst they are unofficial, they hold large RP communities.
I think chat bubbles can be turned off in your options menu, though I’ve never used the option myself
Yes, usable furniture, a dream of all RPers for most games.
Personally I’d like more town clothes, like proper trousers! (English here, not american)
My character’s story is that she’s an orphan from the streets, yet she wears something only a noble could afford…My tu’pence worth.
I hate the lack of trousers too. I gave my lady thief Aria Hannibal the riding pants, though if any better ones come up, she’ll be having those. I’m a horsey type person myself, and I prefer riding pants to be English jodhpurs!
I’d like to be able to actually sit ON a chair, not THROUGH it! That’s all I want! Id’ be very happy with that!
Hello,
Since the update, it has been warmly welcomed the opportunity to be able to hide your gloves, just like you can with head gear and shoulder gear. However, one aspect of this concerns me.
The town clothing boxing gloves can also be hidden, which means people can costume brawl and punch each other without the gloves showing, making it look like bare-knuckle boxing. Some people might argue that bare-kuckle boxing in a game might be a bit too graphic, and I believe it could also require you to have your game a 15 rating rather than it being 12.
My suggestion is to either disable being able to hide the boxing gloves, or disable the skills when the gloves are hidden. The boxing gloves makes the costume brawl seem rather cartoony, where as seeing two humans bare-knuckle box looks actually quite violent.
Anyone else’s thoughts are welcome on this, as long as you’re nice!
Hi,
I am wondering if many other people are experiencing lags of up to five minutes when a guild bounty is activated? I’m in quite a large guild (300+) and whenever we plan a bounty run, we meet at Lion’s Arch (not all 300 of us mind! Usually about 30 at the most each time!). When the guild leader activates the bounty, some or most of us get the bounty straight away, and off they go to the areas.
However, there are still a few of us that don’t see that the guild bounty has even been activated yet, but we know it has because team members have disappeared. Also, guild chat stops responding, and the contacts list doesn’t update to show where the guild members have moved to (it still shows them in Lion’s Arch).
I know 5 minutes might seem like an exaggeration, but it’s not! It literally is five minutes before the guild pages update, and when we find out where everyone is, it’s either too late, or we only get a couple of shots on target in before the target is dead!
Are the developers aware of this issue, and is it quite common?
Thank You.
Oh, thank you Lone Wolf! The link was both helpful and a relief!
Hello,
I have purchased a few of the town clothing costumes over time, and I’ve always liked ‘taking my hat on & off’ via the tick in the hat icon. Now that tick box has gone. Was this intentional?
I miss the tick box since now I have to un-equip the item when I don’t want to show the hat, and have to find it in my inventory when I want to put it back on. It’s so much easier using the tick box!
Please bring this back, and I’m sure other people would want the tick box back too!
I use Snow Leopard, and in testing the Mac Beta, it has run very smoothly indeed, without any hiccups (other than connection errors that everyone else has experienced). Like others have said, everyone’s machine may bring varied results, but I’ve had very good results myself.
