Yeah I agree it’s a great game for me, and nobody is forced to buy anything from the Gem Store to continue their play on this game.
Ignore the Doomsayers bringing your very positive topic down, OP! Love the game like I do!
/cheer
Here are some options you should try:
1) You can click the ‘Headlines’ of the Living Story/Personal Story/Festival Event and minimise the text that’s shown.
2) You can go into options and turn off completely the content guide that’s showing you which direction to head to for the various things.
3) You can also hide the UI altogether by clicking Ctrl + Shift + H
4) I’m not sure if repeating a topic that was already deleted is allowed, but kudos for making this one polite.
You can hide the personal story & seasonal text description by clicking the coloured headline and minimising it.
You can turn off the content guide in options (the bit telling you to find the scout).
If you really hate the UI, you can always play without it altogether by pressing Ctrl + Shift + H (this hides everything though including your map, soil buttons and chat box. I like to do this sometimes though as a sort of ‘hard mode’.)
As others have said, the UI is only bad in your opinion and I personally would have put my opinion across more constructively than you have done, without all the drama.
im PC client lol
Alright np just double checking – yeah contacting them via ticket then as you’ve done so is the best thing then. It may take a while though, but if it’s been more than 72 hours, you can submit your ticket number for review in the sticky
Hope everything gets sorted for you
Before the patch i could set them to HIGH, now only appears low and medium, how can i get them back to high though?
Might be a daft question, but are you on PC Client or Mac Beta? Mac Beta has never been able to set to high on some of the options you see.
You are running around wearing heavy plated armor with a dozen extra weapons and endless amounts of loot in your bags (which consists mostly from even more armors and weapons).
I’d say you can stay in a pretty fit condition after hauling all that around Tyria.
Some of us use Broomsticks or Magic Carpets :p
My philosophy is why take the risk?
Finger pains and a broken 2 key on my keyboard.
I agree with the poster above though. Why have a device kit which has this 1 skill which need targeting whilst the main autoattack is better used without the target and nothing else on it needs a target. It just makes it awkward.
Well, except at the moment, because the #4 fire field is so low, the only way to blast the kitten thing with #2 is to not target anything, position your character jusssssssst right, and spam the skill key like your life depends on it whilst making your camera angle isn’t too high such that it goes straight into the ground (which by the way, is easiest on an asura).
You mention that after a while using one skill to get a discovered affect is a pain – but we’re all in the same boat – a Macro skill to give you an advantage over another player is not right. Why should you who finds it inconvenient to use your finger to cause a fire shield around you be allowed to use a macro over other players that use the engineer?
That’s the whole point of macros generally not being allowed in Guild Wars 2 – you shouldn’t have to have something play the game for you. We all get achey fingers from playing a certain class in a certain way – it’s part of being a gamer!
I personally get an achey finger when I play Ranger in PvP – but I don’t expect to be allowed to let a 3rd party programme to do some of the trickier work for me whilst others don’t have that luxury.
an excuse for verbal abuse.
Whenever I see a boss get knockbacked when the zerg is going melee, a little part of me dies on the inside, and then I kindly type into chat “Whoever keeps using knockback, please stop. It’s annoying for the melee players who have to chase the boss.”. If I saw the player who did it, I’ll type “[Name here] please stop using knockback. It’s annoying for the melee players who have to chase the boss”. Then they can know I’m talking to them and, hopefully, stop moving the enemy around.
Champions have the buff ‘Unshakeable’ which basically means that CC (Crowd Control) skills do not affect them. The buff comes in stacks, starting with 3 stacks plus at least one more stack per player around the champion, meaning that no matter how many players are attacking the champion, there’s only a certain number of knock backs that can happen against the Champion in question, so the number of knock backs is still limited.
At the end of the day (and by the way, I generally don’t play Ranger, though I do have 20 characters) it’s not the end of the world if melee players have to press W for a second or two to move towards the enemy in question, especially when the Ranger who used the knock back skill to interrupt an enemy that might have harmed the melee player in the first place.
Too long? Didn’t read? Don’t hate on ranger players – they are most probably helping you, even if they are new.
In my opinion, there’s no such thing as a bad player. Only bad attitudes.
Lol well you are wrong. Totally and factually wrong. It’s a nice sentiment though.
And people already blamed rangers, now people will have the ability to tell which particular ranger it is. Better for one poor individual to be blamed than the entire class.
In the kindest way you can, please could you explain how it is better to single out a player personally, than an entire class that is not a personal matter?
My philosophy is why take the risk?
It is done simply for pvp purposes.
ArenaNet doesn’t care one bit about pve balance/problems.
Hello Taku
I’m 100% certain that ArenaNet care about all aspects of the game, especially since I’ve heard both theories that ArenaNet only care for PvP and only for PvE, so it stands to reason they actually care about both, but can’t cater to every single player.
My question is mostly aimed at players though. I am hoping that after the November 4 update, we won’t see a torrent of verbal abuse that we have never had before the purple arrows was even mentioned. People have only starting to talk about ‘calling rangers out’ since the twitch.tv video, and calling out is wrong.
In my opinion, there’s no such thing as a bad player. Only bad attitudes.
I’m getting increasingly worried about people’s attitudes with this. I’ve seen many people saying things similar to ‘finally, something that tells us who is knocking back so we can call rangers out on bad play’ and stuff, i.e. an excuse for verbal abuse.
My question is this: Is ArenaNet’s intention for this projectile to call players out who use this skill so-called ‘badly’ or is it ArenaNet’s intention for this skill to let enemy players have a chance to dodge the projectile in PvP & WvW?
I hope the answer is obvious.
Rangers use the skill not only to knock back an enemy, but also to interrupt an enemy attack. An enemy that might just have caused harm to the players in melee range, and the players complaining about the ranger attack. The interrupt is only seen by the ranger when the word ‘interrupt’ comes up.
I usually buy a set amount of gems per month as a treat for myself. After spending most of them, I am usually left with about 20 or 25 gems left, which I always converted back to gold to get rid of the ‘loose change’ as it were. Now I can’t, or I can but only if the lowest amount of gems > gold is a number that 20 or 25 is divisible by.
Having said that, it’s not exactly the end of the world.
Guys, you still need to read the OP’s second post before making a conclusion about the user.
To the OP: I understand your technique in trying to make a point across, but I don’t think it was as good idea as you possibly thought it was, so I suggest you change it as some people are still clearly not understanding that you’re not trolling dungeon parties even after you’ve revealed you are not.

Its very heartening to hear all your comments (so far).
In reality, my brother was the victim and I really have no idea why he was kicked except it was sudden and without warning (the guy admitted as much).
Everyone you need to read this bit before replying to the OP’s original post with verbal abuse.
Why? There’s no excuses for being an kitten.
So practise what you preach.
If you act in a bad manner and you won’t admit what you did wrong and you won’t beg on your knees for forgiveness. Then you need to teach that person a lesson, or that person won’t learn. No excuses. That person have to take the consequences.
If you had read what the OP put after the original post (i.e. the bit I said people should read before giving him or her verbal abuse), you’ll actually understand that he or she wasn’t the one acting in a bad manner. The OP was presenting the scenario in a certain way.
EVEN if he or she was acting in this way, it’s still no excuse to verbally abuse someone anyway, no matter what they had done, since you’re putting yourself at risk too.
Its very heartening to hear all your comments (so far).

Piken Square 4 Life!
At approximately 13:20 on the Ready Up video (the very beginning of announcements), Josh states that the balance changes will drop in November.
Edited my answer ty :P
Should be on Tuesday’s Halloween patch
Edited because I was wrong. November as quoted by Inculpatus cedo below, who is very knowledgable
(edited by penelopehannibal.8947)
I’m with GuzziHero on this (hi by the way! ^ ^) – There is little to no ERP in Piken Square, at least public ERP anyway. People here know that ERP has to be done in private, and only between consenting adults, over 18. Anything other than that is a big no-no.
Most Roleplayers on Piken are a mature bunch, and do it strictly for Roleplay, not ERP! I don’t know about the other RP servers, but Piken is clean (and the best <3 )
As for Megaservers and RP – my personal opinion is that whilst it is a little harder to find ‘Walk-up’ RP, Guild RP has improved dramatically. When my guild does our regular RP events outside the city, we are starting to see more and more people RP in groups away from Divinity’s Reach, and outside of bars instead of in them!
If anything, megaservers as a whole have IMPROVED RP if you look at the bigger picture, because I’m also seeing people from other servers getting into RP, not just Piken Square people.
/endbigupofpikensquare
Asura & Charr aren’t real, they don’t exist so we need to get some perspective people! Also, Winnie the Pooh walks around with no pants. Is he so bad too?
You forgot to add that when you are completely done with all maps you’ll get
2 gifts of exploration (which you’ll never use unless you make a Legendary)
A gold star (which is invisible to you so you have to ask someone else if it’s there)
A title (also invisible to you)Who can ask for more? ^^
Join party with someone and get them to target you :p
I was just about to say what Ixillius said, but they already put it by the time I logged in :p
Good Idea +1
@penelopehannibal.8947 & Ellieanna.5027
That was never the intention though. As Alennia outlined above, our name was derived from our mesmers porting about, plus as something tongue in cheek & fun. I’m sure that most people would agree that Potentially Offensive as a name carries no derogatory or foul meaning. If anything, it would have been our tag that got changed, going by what you said. Not the name.
There’s a list here on Wikipedia of words with different meanings between American & British english:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_words_having_different_meanings_in_American_and_British_EnglishShould a RP’er get banned because they used an alternative word for a male rooster to describe priming a gun for firing? Just because it can have other connotations that someone else mistakenly thought they meant?
Heck, “joint” in American English can refer to the connection of two objects / bones, a business, or drugs. Perhaps every guild with “joint” in it should get changed because they could potentially be offensive? :P
Taking context out of the equation, should a guild be forced to change their name, even if they have something benign like “Potato [SPUD]” if someone finds it not to their liking? Should Anet appeal to the lowest common denominator at the expense of the community at large?
Yes, names that have both an offensive and a non-offensive name still get looked at. You or the guild leader knew what Poof means otherwise it wouldn’t have been called it “Potentially Offensive” – and guilds only get forced a name change when other players report them, so your guild has obviously offended someone.
If you scroll through all the topics relating to forced name changes in the Account Issues section of this forum, virtually all of them say “I didn’t mean it in that way, it actually means this..” just as you have done.
The funny thing is before I had money, I wanted it so much. Now that I have 2.7K, I don’t know what to do with it. :s
You name your guild ‘Potentially Offensive’, so you must have known it was potentially offensive to call it that in the first place. [POOF] is a chiefly British slang term for homosexual and is not a nice name to call someone. However, I can see the reason behind them re-naming and calling your guild after a magician’s magic word because now the [POOF] part means to disappear in a cloud of smoke, which is nice.
You guys knew it was potentially offensive, so don’t act so surprised that it got changed, and as someone said, be grateful it was a name change and not a disbandment like other offensive guilds get.
Edit: As a side not, I would have changed the spelling from [POOF] to [PUFF] too.
On Piken Square I Roleplay a Skritt sometimes, using a Skritt tonic made in the Mystic Forge.
Ingredients:
2 x Mystery Tonic + 1 x Tiny Claw + 1 Slab of Red Meat = 2 x Skritt Tonic.
Since the Skritt tonics only last 15 minutes, I limit the time I RP with my ‘Skritt’ (His name is Skrittbags and he is a lost former experiment of the Asura).
Personally, I don’t think having Skritt as a full-time playable race is necessary, but I would love the Skritt tonic to last longer than 15 minutes. About 1 hour should be long enough, considering the rarity of the ingredients needed.
:)
Seeing as if you’ve lost all your gear due to an account hack, you may as well delete and re-create your characters and start from fresh like everyone does when they first purchase the game.
It’s not a ‘Flying’ carpet, but a ‘Magic’ carpet. Check product description before buying anything! :p
Nearly 8,000 Hours and still no pre-cursor drop. I’m not complaining though, still love this game!
The people who think that the more reports someone gets the more likely a ban will happen are wrong. ArenaNet suspensions are done by a human viewing the chat logs and stuff.
Also, just like the Queensdale Champ Train & Blix Farm (glad they’re gone for this reason) – you can’t report someone for trying to complete a champion or an event.
You can pwn the champs, but you do not own the champs. (Or events in this case!)
Something will be done, I’m almost certain of it. We civilised people just need to stay calm and not argue with them. They know what they’re doing is wrong, and they know it’s inevitable that it won’t last long.
It’s a shame some people have to speak like DancingMad or the person whispering in the OP’s pictures, but don’t worry – there are far, far more nice people than there are horrible people in Guild Wars 2.
I’m fairly sure ArenaNet are onto this already – unfortunately it’ll take some time to sort out. It’s unfair on players trying to do their Living Story, especially for those who might have paid gems for unlocking that part of the story.
Having issues since September patch?
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947
Bad Maths Vector I get a lot since September Feature Pack. Mostly when I’m in Timberline Falls I’ve noticed. Guild Wars 2 client won’t restart after this error unless I either restart my Mac or I go into Activity Monitor and manually close the process from there.
Also get the SphereRadius thing but not as much as I used to.
I really hope that in future mail Anet talk me about my unacc behavior….i m serious, i don t know my bad behavior in game
ArenaNet can’t help you with your bad behaviour. Only you can. Fixing your behaviour means playing the game like a grown-up. Don’t use foul language towards other players, such as calling people the F-Word or the R-Word during PvP. Also, if someone uses foul language towards you, don’t answer back, just report them and block them, then move on.
ArenaNet takes verbal abuse very seriously, and this is pretty much what is meant by unacceptable behaviour. If you can’t see yourself that foul language and bad attitudes towards other players and staff is unacceptable, I don’t know how anyone, let alone ArenaNet can help you.
Perhaps you would probably benefit from changing your attitude and behaviour. By the looks of the way you’ve written your complaint, it doesn’t surprise me.
There is a way via support that you can appeal against an account suspension, but I seriously recommend being polite and diplomatic about it.
Any class you can think of can be done in a certain way with one of the classes we already have.
Thank you Zaxares, it’s good to know it’s more than one rune
One way to get around this problem is to limit the amount of normal mobs, which can be done by changing it from a ‘Capture the Area’ event to a ‘Son of Svanir Morale 100%’ event, so there are only a certain number of Sons of Svanir that come as the percentage goes down.
I don’t know if this has been addressed or not, but I’ve noticed that the 6th rune effect with Superior Rune of the Krait does not work on certain elite skills – notably the ones that transform you, such as Elementalist’s [Tornado] or Norn’s [Become the Wolf].
The effect is “when you use your elite skill you inflict bleeding, torment, and poison for 8 seconds to nearby foes. (Cooldown: 30s)”
If this is happening with other runes too, I don’t know but feel free to add any other runes that might be behaving in the same way.
Thanks
To elaborate on OP’s topic, stealth animation is bugged as in, certain weapons with animated effects are showing incorrectly – such as [Incinerator]’s flame animations or the [Lyss] & [Ilya] smokey effect.
oh. I see, GW2 is for the pg crowd… I guess I should go back to WoW….
And there’s something wrong with keeping things PG because… ?
This has been for a while.
Unknown when showing online means they are logged in but on Character Selection Screen.
However, I am a little concerned about people who are showing invisible are being displayed as in an area, whilst people who are genuinely offline are shown as ‘Unknown’ – so people can tell when someone is offline or just invisible.
Changed title as I’ve confirmed other trainers are affected.
I don’t know if this is doing it with the other professions, but the Mesmer Trainer in Shaemoor won’t speak to me because I don’t have enough experience in the world, even though I’m level 60!
I have a feeling it’s to do with downscaling as you are downscaled to Level 5 in that area, and that I can speak to the Mesmer Trainer in Divinity’s Reach.
Edit: Can anyone else confirm if it’s happening with other professions? If so, I will change the title accordingly.

Hello Rich Fuel,
I’m fairly certain that more people love the game than not who have played it. Far more. It’s just the people who do love this game (such as me who spends at least 10 hours a day on it!) are too busy enjoying the game to have time coming on these forums!
