Sadly not everyone who plays Guild Wars 2 use the forums and thus, doesn’t see the warnings about such things. This is why I suggested not too long ago for an in-game warning video similar to a Renowned Heart NPC should be done in-game for a one-time announcement to make sure as many players as possible get the message on this:

First – remove your email addresses from the post!!!

Secondly, you can only re-activate an old account if you’ve not had a refund. So, if it’s from a permanent ban or something, you can check with ArenaNet Customer Service by submitting a ticket via clicking ‘Support’ at the top of this page.

You will have to prove ownership of the account first of all though, if you’re allowed the account back.

Try them all for a few levels and see which you personally prefer. Perhaps by practising in the PvP Lobby with the profession NPCs there. There are pros and cons to all of them.

Yes, compared to PvE, the rudeness is quite bad I agree. However, in Guild Wars 2, we are actually quite lucky, because there are games where it goes on a lot worse than it does here.

That doesn’t excuse them of course. Some of the verbal abuse that goes on still shouldn’t go on at all. But at least we have the Right-Click →Report →Block option.

Those who verbally abuse over a PvP game don’t deserve their text to be seen.

We did this event last night and successfully completed it. Upon successful completion, you get a bonus chest like one does with a World Boss.

So, at first it was difficult, but if we all treat this event (that never even used to be a [Group Event] until recently) as a World Boss, it should be doable from now on

Your girlfriend needs to submit a ticket herself, by clicking Support at the top of the screen. She doesn’t need the password or to log on to submit a ticket, but she will need to prove ownership of the account.

Hope she gets it sorted.

As Astral Projections said, doing it via ticket is the best way to report an offensive guild name or tag.

It’s a lot easier, if you can, to also submit a screenshot. When you get the automated response when you’ve submitted the ticket, reply to the email with your screenshot. I usually do this just in case my spelling of the offending name(s) is incorrect in my ticket.

Obviously, due to the fast paced nature of WvW it’s a lot harder to do this, but I’m sure eventually their guild name will get reported if you didn’t manage.

I feel for you, and in a similar but not quite the same situation.

I’m 33, male, and my wife is disabled with Chronic Pancreatitis and Myasthenia Gravis so I have to stay at home in case she needs me. I used to work in retail before she got bad.

Guild Wars 2 is to me what television might be for other people. I’ve clocked up 9,300 hours (granted some AFK is in there!) which has helped me pass the time and get by during difficult situations. I’m probably spending too much time on it if I’m honest, but I agree with you all the same – I think the game is great as it is and I’m glad to always have somewhere to go when I need it.

Your guild mates are the only ones who can appeal their ban decision, via the tickets and appeals. Any form of petition isn’t allowed, and can put your account at risk too.

Occasionally, mistakes happen, and ArenaNet do rectify it with a sincere apology, but in most cases, bans for hacking/botting are accurate.

Also, note that if any of these guild mates are submitting multiple tickets, it will only slow down the process for them.

Make a screenshot (to make sure you’ve got one) then go into finder and search for " gw001.png " and it should find the location for you (if you’ve taken a screenshot, that’s usually the way it’s named and is the first one)

For me it’s saved on Desktop, though I can’t remember if I ever changed it to that or not.

Thank you, bookmarked to look through. That said though I’m on the Henge of Denravi shard, it’s the one the friend who got the game for me was on so that does make it a bit more difficult.

No worries, and don’t worry about not being Tarnished Coast, it’s basically NA guilds now anyway, they just label the guilds there as Tarnished Coast guilds due to the pre-megaserver days.

as a player who has only been here for a month now I can’t help but agree with the OP and other RPer’s posts here. Pretty much since I started playing I’ve been keeping my eyes out for both random RP and RP guild recruitments and the thing is, there really isn’t much of either. I even tried with a post here on the forums and while I’ve gotten quite a few offers to join guilds, not one has been an RP guild or even a guild that housed some roleplayers in their free time.

I did luck out once and get mapped with some people in an RP guild who were doing chest runs, and I introduced myself in character, and they immediately invited me to their group and told me to talk to their leaders/recruiters to join, but when I talked to the recruitment officer, I was given a ridiculous list on how to join that clearly told me that they really didn’t want new members. It was much beyond just an in character interview and would have required a lot more time in the day than I can play. And I get the feeling that’s how a lot of RP guilds are going to be the further things go, especially with the GvG coming(though I think GvG is a great feature, not knocking on it at all). Ultimately, RP tends to be clique-ish by nature, but now with the way servers work and how near impossible random RP is to find, it’ll only get worse. It should be organic, but the way things are you have to actively seek it, hunt it down, then hope to be accepted. Either that or try to meet the expectations of those who clearly don’t want you around, and the barrier for entry is going to be even more difficult for new players.

In specialisations, they wouldn’t be very specialised if they were available to all professions. I can’t imagine my thief or my mesmer being too suited to being a Druid, not a Warrior being an assassin type Thief specialisation, or an Engineer having a Mesmer-type trickery specialisation.

Mayko, sometimes you have to go into your Activity Monitor and force quit the running process of GW2 there. Sometimes, there’s a ghost GW2 running too, so you have to end both. Your client will open then when this happens.

Sorry but I disagree with most of the above threads. RP is alive and well in Piken Square. The thing that is stopping people RPing is not the megaservers, but the people themselves letting megaservers actually BE an obstacle in the first place.

Yep, I find it very hard to imagine it not coming to Mac simultaneously. The possibility that it won’t come is there, but I reckon very, very slim chance of that. I’m optimistic anyway (as well as very excited!!!)

I think we have enough races anyway. 5 times more races to choose from than in GW1.

Plus – each new race would need it’s own Personal Story. And then there’s another question: Should the new races be part of the same personal story against Zhaitan, so new players who choose the new race get the same experience as veteran players?

Or should it be a completely new Personal Story, meaning that there are ‘two tiers’ of personal story? Where some races get one some races get two, but you can only choose between them?

Try and guild up and friend up, you’ll get more of a chance ending up in the same shard if you don’t already. I don’t know if you’re Tarnished Coast or Piken Square, but pretty much most people from Piken Square have no trouble finding the right RP shard.

If you are from Piken, it’s happening a lot at [The Maiden’s Whisper] atm if you’re looking for Divinity’s Reach tavern RP. Some at the tavern in Ebonhawke too

As others have said, CS will probably not help you. For two reasons.

First is the usual reason – that it would harm the economy to take back gold that was scammed from one player to another via someone being hacked. People who hack accounts and steal gold or scam players get their accounts permanently suspended, but the gold is not returned. You’ve not actually ‘lost’ anything in this case. You’ve just not been paid that’s all.

Secondly, I can’t see ArenaNet officially supporting gambling between players anyway, even if they did have a return gold to player policy.

If, however, the guy who was laughing at you was going “Hahahahaha you @&%!” etc, then you’ve got them on verbal abuse. But that’s a different issue.

Where would all the gear go that’s currently for sale on the TP?
What would we all craft that uses the materials in-between Green Wood Logs & Ancient Wood Logs (among the rest)?

There’s just too much overhaul, for virtually the same experience of what we already have, in my opinion.

One thing we players have that most NPCs don’t have is condition removal. So even if NPC confusion (especially those pesky drakes!) is increased, we still have the upper hand against the heathens of Tyria!

This has been happening since Episode 7 of Living Story 2 for me personally. I found that it was because the settings I had, the audio of NPC1’s Dialogue spoke, but NPC2’s was happening ‘before NPC1’ could finish speaking.

What worked for me was turning my audio settings to:

Sound Quality: Highest Quality.
Mixing Buffer Size: Lowest Latency.

Now I hear all the dialogue with no problems. I should point out I’m on Mac Beta, but still, worth a try.

Is this a Tarnished Coast thing? Because I’ve heard nothing like this on Piken Square.

From an In-Character point of view, it’s a bit premature and I don’t think we should be basing our Tyria-wide RP on a short video showing what might be just a short, small battle confined in one small area.

As far as I’m concerned, word hasn’t got out yet and I don’t think it will until new content is out.

Whether you think it’s selfish or not, it’s ArenaNet policy. Policy which we all signed up to before creating any of our characters.

Let’s not forget the recent phishing attempts there have been in-game as well. If someone receives a mail from ‘Rytlock Brimstone’ or ‘Evon Gnashblade’ etc saying “Congratulations Traveller! You have won 500 Gems” then it is likely to be more believable than if it came from someone called ‘Afghghrs’ or ‘Grghksl’ .

When you apply an upgrade to a Two-Handed weapon, it comes up with a separate box with an Upgrade choice for either top or bottom option as shown in my attached picture.

If you were to choose one of the options that already has an upgrade, the new one replaces the old one, so make sure you use an unused on first.

What titles would you like to see and for what achievements? Try to stay away from being able to ‘buy’ titles rather than earning them, so no titles for Gem Store only requirements!

Letting others see your equipped gear (for whatever reason) should be optional, not mandatory.

What about your Personal Story progression & racial skills? Since what race you pick at the start also determines what personal story and racial Utility & Elite Skills you use.

True that. The thing about the video though (imagine it being narrated by an NPC like a renown heart or the PvP Tutorial NPC) is that it’d circle visually where the ArenaNet symbol and the yellow text warning would be.

I thought of an in-game mail too at first, but then I thought “how would some players know whether the one ArenaNet is sent is any different to the phishing one?” which is how I came to the video idea – only ArenaNet could possibly make the video

Possibly yes, because people are still then coming to the forums asking if a certain mail they’ve had is genuine or not. I’m talking about a one-time video (forgot to mention it’d be one-time in my original post) circling the yellow warning, so players know to ignore and report the mail if it is a phasing attempt

I don’t know if this is possible, but I think it would be a good idea if ArenaNet made some sort of non-mail, non-forum notification in the actual game warning in video-style about the two types of phishing that is going on in a moment.

The video I have in mind would be a one-time video, spawned similar to the video you saw during certain Living Story videos, like the Season One Escape from Lion’s Arch video players saw when they first entered Lion’s Arch. If it’s possible, a video that spawns no matter where your location is.

The video would show the difference between an Arena Net employee mailing a player, and the phishers, (i.e. clearly marking out where the ArenaNet symbol is, as well as clearly marking out the yellow text so players clearly understand where to look) and also explaining that ArenaNet would never mail you to ask you to log in somewhere etc.

The reason why I am suggesting doing this via in-game video is because not every player uses these forums, and thus, not every player is seeing the warnings about the phishing attempts. Of course, to most of us the differences are probably common sense, but remember that not everyone in the world is ‘internet savvy’ so it would be a shame for us to lose some players because of this.

Got an email yesterday too, scared the heck out of me! Seems there’s an aggressive phishing and gold seller person/network this past week. There needs to be a GM parked in DR at the upper banks because there was someone there whisper spamming us for gold selling. Probably collected our account names at the same time.

Of course, we’re posting on here which makes our account names and easy target. Oh wells….

Don’t worry about your on-screen username too much – remember we log in with an email address and not our on-screen usernames. As long as your e-mail address password and your Guild Wars 2 password are both different, and we don’t go to these links, we are pretty much safe.

2) Not having dueling, housing, mounts, and xpacs just means a lack of features and content.
3) Waypoints-nothing new to this genre
4) LS- Been around in this genre way before Anet, but it was called holiday events in between xpacs (brewfest, Rakghoul, just to name a few from a few games), Anet just put that on steroids for a one time use and eventually monetized.
5) Professions- Warrior, Engineer (shaman), Ranger (Hunter), Necro (Warlock), Thief (Rogue/Stalker), Gaurdian (Paladin), etc…copy/paste that all mmo’s do, except for token class like Druid, Mesmer, etc..
6) Weapon types- same ol same ol
7) SPvP/Arena lol esport in a mmo….
8) Boons/Buggs Cond/Cond
9) Vertical gear grind-check
10) PvE server only-check
11) Dungeons

Sure Anet has done some unique things like the art style, combat, WvW (kinda), but I wouldn’t call a lack of content or the direction Anet has taken as “different” or that “outside of the box.”

There is no marketing hype in my statement.

But I’ll write and assume it’s not – you used good words there when you said ‘family friendly setting’ – players must remember this is a certified 12+ game, and not an 18+ or a 15+ game.

Often people say “turn the chat filter on” but the chat filter is not there to excuse foul language and verbal abuse. No excuse for verbal abuse, whether it’s in PvE, Dungeons, Guild Chat, Party Chat, Whisper, WvW, PvP or Costume Brawl or Quaggan Racing!

I’ve been in discussions about this in Heart of the Mists a few times. Once I was blamed for losing a match, just because I was a ranger, and it was the day of Daily Ranger Win – even though I play only Ranger every day in Unranked match.

I was told in Heart of the Mists “You have to have a thick skin in PvP. If you can’t handle a bit of flaming in PvP then you shouldn’t be playing PvP”

My reply was “No – if people can’t lose a PvP match without being verbally abusive to other players, it is them who shouldn’t be playing PvP, not me”

If people have to go AFK, saying stuff like “You deserve that I go AFK” it is actually them being the ‘noob’ or a ‘scrub’ or whatever word they like to use that’s fashionable at the moment, and they are just trying to shift the blame away from them.

They often tell in their posts that they stopped playing a long time ago, but still they keep on haunting the forums. I too have always found it weird why someone does that.

Saying in a post that you have left/are leaving and actually leaving are two different things though. I know a few people on my friends list who have said they are leaving the game, but I still see them even months afterwards!

Sylvari & Asura are definitely the hardest to name nowadays, as traditionally they are only Single named unless you include a prefix like Warden or Peacemaker. I managed to single name most of them as you can see.

Humans are by far the easiest to name I think. Norns & Charr are fairly easy, but it also too easy to use a name that is a ‘stereotype’ or ‘fashionable’ – especially the use of -dottir or -sson in Norn names. Nothing wrong with that, but I personally think there are too many -ssons and -dottirs!
