Hello,
I would like to ask if the BLTP Crash for the Mac Beta has been secretly or accidentally fixed a couple of days ago?
Normally when I visit the BLTP I have to change to windowed mode, as sometimes it freezes the client with no chance of [Cmd] + [Tab]-ing away from it in full screen mode.
However, since the introduction of the Black Wings Backpack, I’ve not had a single crash! Where I don’t want to jinx myself, and I understand it’s only been about two and a half days, but so far things are looking good!
If you have fixed it, thank you in advance.
We’re all biting out nails here OP – I myself can’t wait for Specialisation information – but we all have to wait, no matter how deep you’re digging your nails in the arms of your chair!
I’m sure when the information is out, we won’t be disappointed

Duelling already exists as either PvP via Custom arenas (and the custom arena being set to 1v1) or via the cute little feature of Costume brawl. There’s been no announcement of any other form
They are not extra achievement points. They are just points that they got ‘early’ as they are still counted towards the cap.
They were got through cheating (exploit), which is unfair, and should therefore be removed.
It wasn’t through an exploit, it was through an ArenaNet fault. And as I said earlier, they couldn’t of got more than 10 or 20 points before it was sorted out. It was sorted within a matter of hours, not days. I was awake and playing during the switchover and went to bed about 02:00 GMT. I got up back online the next day at around 10:00 or 11:00 GMT and people were already saying it was fixed.
So lets say in the worst case scenario they completed all 10 monthlies within those hours – 100 AP points. That’s them finishing their cap 10 days earlier than you.
I think ArenaNet have bigger fish to fry than this I’m afraid.
achievement points matter, there is even a Leaderboard for them
Achievement points don’t matter. The leaderboard is there, but the points don’t matter. Not everyone started the game at the same time, so someone’s position in the leaderboard is for bragging rights only.
Why should players that cheated be allowed to keep those extra achievement points?
They are not extra achievement points. They are just points that they got ‘early’ as they are still counted towards the cap.
I don’t understand why you’re upset about other people’s achievement points. I mean, the aim of the game in Guild Wars 2 is not to get more achievement points than other players. You can certainly play it like that if you wish, but to be honest, it doesn’t really affect us how another person got their AP.
And it all seems like a lot of effort to get rid of what would be about 10, maybe 20 achievement points at the most, because that’s all that could have possibly been earned through this monthly ‘exploit’ as you call it, since it was dealt with pretty quickly.
Edit: And as Arianhod rightly says, the Monthlies are capped, so all it means is that the players who got ‘extra’ monthly points will hit their cap 10 or 20 APs early anyway.

I’ve named that NPC “Jeffrey”. Anytime I accidentally interact with him instead of the bank, I sigh “Oh, Jeffrey”. Curse you, Jeffrey!
That’s Seraph Jeffry to you!
That’s why there are 3 bankers
I’m fairly sure the bank was designed before the NPC patrol paths were.
But yes I know I can visit the middle banker (The right one has a citizen that visits sometimes causing the same problem) but you don’t always remember and it’s just a small annoyance for a lot of people.
I visit the bank in DR and instead of making a withdrawal, I am told:
“I watch over this place”
“May Balthazar strengthen you”
“These are dangerous times”
“It’s a soldier’s life for me”
I’m sure everyone knows what I’m talking about! I know this is probably quite low down on the radar, but is there any chance of the Seraph soldier saluting the banker from a little further away? The only words I want to here when I press F there are from the banker saying:
“I’m rich, you know”
I don’t add people to my friends list unless they add me first. When someone does, sometimes I don’t know why they are there, but I don’t question it – I take it as a compliment instead!
Anyway, if you know a reason why someone added you, or why you added someone, you can always set them a nickname in your friends list (via Right Click>Set Nickname) like ‘Helped in Twilight Arbor’ or something.
As far as I’ve heard, DPS meters are bannable.
Why do we need fishing poles when our characters can dive in the water and attack them with a Harpoon Gun/Spear/Trident?
Just make more fish-based loot out of Barracudas if you want the chef materials so bad!
Alchemist could be a name for an Engineer specialisation, though it probably won’t be that looking at the flying helicopters and the wielding of the hammer.
The name of the specialisation is not likely to be one we mere players can think of, knowing ArenaNet’s reputation of surprising us with new concepts of design
100% no to Macros of any kind thank you.
With 0% of Macros allowed, everyone is on a level playing field. You can enhance the chance of getting less lag or latency with a better internet or router connection, sure. Or enhance your chance of getting a better FPS with a faster machine, sure. Everyone can do that.
But the minute one macro is allowed, it’d be chaotic. “Why is he allowed such and such yet I can’t use my such and such-a-bot?”
At that point, we wouldn’t be on a level playing field anymore.
If you can’t play to the same extent with the same set of tools as everyone else is given, then perhaps you should try a different game. It’s like me trying to play football/soccer, but justifying using a bionic traction engine leg to boot the ball faster and harder because I’m not as good as David Beckham.
No macros, end of.
Except that… having a bionic leg doesn’t make you have good precision or aim, or even control of the leg. And not everyone would have access to a bionic leg as its expensive.
The same as macros, except for the access part.
Who says my new (or indeed, EXTRA) bionic leg doesn’t also have an integrated GPS automatic targeting system? It could also have the ability to detect air pressure, wind direction, heat sensor to detect players’ positions, and a software algorithm to detect which direction the goalkeeper will dive during a penalty shootout!
Again guys, no to Marcos, big or small. Don’t make it one rule for one person, and one rule for another. Play an offline game if you want a game you can mod or macro to your advantage.
They should also do his off-hand duelling pistol called Lord Faren’s Charm

With what I’ve been seeing in Divinity’s Reach lately, I reckon it’ll be Toy Golemancer :p
I’m always advising map chat of the content guide whenever I’m in. Responses I often get are similar to “It’s not pointing me to anything but hearts or vistas”
Oooh! Totally good call on pointing that out: I only hang out on characters that have map completion these days, so I forget that there’s no “Events only, no map completion” option. Thanks so much for reminding me!
But still, I think we can all agree that it’s better if as many players as possible are made aware of all the tools that are at their disposal ^.^
Aye, with map completion, it’s only about 10 minutes for me. With a character without map completion, it takes probably at least twice a long, but 20 or 30 minutes or so is still pretty quick anyway for a daily I think, if you consider how long they used to take when the game was first out and you had to do 5 objectives instead of 3
I’m always advising map chat of the content guide whenever I’m in. Responses I often get are similar to “It’s not pointing me to anything but hearts or vistas”
For a lot of people it might be because their characters are new, but I reckon a fair few are the ones that decided the ‘normal’ way of levelling is too slow, so they hopped onto EotM to level instead of doing map completion. (I actually made a satirical YouTube video about this recently in fact!)
But yes – for those of us who have map completion, and even for those who don’t, it’s a very helpful tool. Nice and quick, and today I did my events quicker than those asking for events in map chat, I just silently followed the compass and got them in.
I think for the people who haven’t got map completion (yet) an extra option could be suggested for ‘Events Only’ to the Content Guide options – though I think that might also just delay people doing their map completion even further!
It’ll be ready when it’s ready. In the meantime, I’m still checking the main website, clicking Refresh…… Refresh…… Refresh….. Refresh….. for the hope of another little bit of news on the expansion!

The thing is even with profession runes, the 6th ability is still at least remotely useable by any profession. Having it grant boons when swapping legends breaks this rule, because no one else has legends.
Really?
Rune of the Warrior (weapons swap) is useless to Engineers and Elementalists (and Revenants!).
Rune of the Engineer (Conjures and kits) is useless Rangers and Necromancers.
Rune of the Necromancer (fear) is useless to Mesmers.
Rune of the Mesmer (daze) interacts with exactly one Guardian skill (while they have Tome of Courage out…)
Rune of the Guardian (block) is useless to Necromancers.
Rune of the Elementalist (burning and chill) is kinda sorta maybe relevant to everybody (if your thief steals lava rocks a lot…not). Oh, except warriors don’t have any chills. Yeah, no joy there.
Rune of the Ranger (companions) does nothing for Warriors and Engineers.Yes, the Rune of the Thief (positional damage) is useable by everyone
.
I guess 1 out of 8 isn’t bad when declaring a pattern exists
.
To be honest, maybe they should actually make them more specifically for the profession, i.e. ‘On Steal’ or ‘On Attunement Swap’ or ‘Per Illusion’ etc – maybe that way they might be slightly more popular? Who knows, could be wrong.

Good points by Test & Xenon there. Back to the drawing board for me. -.-

However, I have found that Step 4 of here has reduced the amount of times it happens for me.
Thanks for your reply!
I did do step 4. No change, unfortunately. I am in windowed mode, and flipping out and back in did not help. Still looking for answers. As I said, if it’s still acting up today, will try and replace the entire client.
Sorry it couldn’t help then.
It does seem to me that there are a few more problems for people with newer Macs than older ones I guess due to changing technology.
WvW would be a whole new experience & drama lol!
I don’t meant to sound rude or anything, but if you think chat drama is a good aspect of the game (Whether it’s in WvW, PvP or anywhere else) you need to seriously re-examine how you’re playing the game.

1-5) + all stats
6) Summon the Ghost of Snaff on down.Having the ghost appear and start fighting means you have a better chance of rally. Why Snaff? Because Rytlock is the first Revenant, and I’d say Snaff is one of the spirits he’d look for in the mists, if only to tell him how sorry he is.
I will cry if Snaff isn’t one of the Legends you can channel

I hope you can be abit more creative here lol.
Stat bonus on 2th and 4th is boring.
I’m going off the template from the other eight “of the Profession” Runes – 25/35/50/65/100/Effect

Even though I’m usually against speculation on un-released content, I thought it’d be a bit of fun if we could speculate what the six stats for a Rune of the Revenant would be. (If there is one at all!)
Here’s my guess:
1) +25 Power
2) +35 Condition Damage
3) + 50 Power
4) + 65 Condition Damage
5) +100 Power
6) Gain Fury, Swiftness & Might when swapping Legends (60 second cooldown)
Remember this is just for fun! Nothing mentioned in this thread is confirmed!

Yep, this has been happening for most if not all Mac users since the new Trading Post came into effect. If you’re in Full Screen mode, you can’t even Cmd + Tab out – the only way to quit is to pull the power!
However, I have found that Step 4 of here has reduced the amount of times it happens for me. Sometimes I still have to go into windowed mode before using the TP just in case, but more often than not now, it’s working fine for me since I did this.
(p.s. – Rather than moving the folder to trash, move it to desktop and rename it instead, just in case it makes things worse!)
“PvP-ers” “PvE-ers” “RP-ers” “PvE Scrubs” “Elistists” “Completionists” “Achievementists” etc….
What will make the community even better is if we all stop labelling each other as if we’re different players – We are all Guild Wars 2 players at the end of the day, and labels segregate the player base, creating pockets of discontent.
Everyone is in the same circumstances to win. Some players are naturally good at Dragonball, some like myself are not. But Nobody is given an advantage over anyone else, so why we’re asking ArenaNet ‘why?’ I don’t know.
Just try your best – it’s just a bit of fun at the end of the day, not intense like Ranked PvP (though some people rage in chat like it is – I just block ’em!). Like some others have said, I only get the 2 games per day now that I got my achievement for 10 wins.
A lot of you are taking this a bit too seriously. Calm down before someone gets upset and the thread gets locked – it’s not worth the aggro!
I live in the UK but sadly I cannot make it to London. If there was ever a Guild Wars 2 showcase in Manchester, however, I would be there like a rocket!
Hi,
Nobody knows yet, but it is more than likely to be out on Mac (I reckon there’s a greater than 99% chance of it myself) since the core game is available, and the Mac Beta is basically a cider wrap.
Boosters I reckon are only there when you’ve bought yourself a bunch of gems, bought a load of Character Slots, Outfits, Gathering Tools or whatever for the big present to yourself, and then you have a few gems left over, and think shrug I’ll just get some Karma booster with the loose change.
I’ve never bought a booster myself though.
I’m wondering how we are able to reach conclusions on a game mode that is not even out yet? Seriously, some of you guys are reacting WAY over the top on this!
Hi,
I don’t know if you’ve tried already, but this helped me once with several crashes I had with my mid-2011 iMac:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/MAC-Basic-Beta-Client-Troubleshooting
The deleting of the ‘Guild Wars 2’ folder from the Library step helped me once. When you open the client after this step, it downloads automatically a newer version of that folder (I moved and renamed the old folder though, rather than delete it just in case that step made things worse!)
Was a while ago, but worth a try
There are enough weapons as there are in my opinion. We don’t need to over-haul the current weapon choices – Especially for the weapon master that is Warrior! It’d just be another clutter and no guarantee people would use them anyway.
Weird to us humans, but to Asura, the neck is perfection.
Yeah I like having the star Character Bound to be honest, but I think that’s just me having (apologies for my narcissistic side of me showing here!) five characters with map completion – if the star was account bound, then perhaps I wouldn’t have tried so hard.
What do you guys think?
Well, if they do run with this story, thanks for the spoiler dude! :p
It probably won’t come out of Beta – but I think it’s highly likely that HoT will be available to Macs since the core engine is
Piken Square and Proud
I think judging from the very mixed hours/precursor ratio from people, we can all conclude now that precursor entitlement is nothing to do with how many hours we’ve played. I’ve made four legendaries in my xxxx hours of gameplay, and all four precursors I purchased.
I’m still happy with the game.
If you roll 100 – 20 sided die, what are the odds you will roll a 2000?
If you think the odds are better after the 10,000 roll than the first roll, I have found your problem with this entire thread.
Yes, it is more LIKELY you will get 2000 after 10,000 rolls than a single roll, but the number of rolls has NO bearing on the actual odds of each roll.
This is the basic concept of RNG that most players just do not grasp.
Spot on. Odds have no memory. It’s like flipping a coin. You have 50% chance heads, 50% chance tails. If you’ve flipped tails 6 or 7 times already, you still have 50% Chance of each with your next flip.
Doesn’t matter which interpretation of ‘Roleplayers’ we are if we consider ourself as that at all – what matters the most, and is also fundamental to the game itself – is how we as players treat each other.
There are going to be Roleplayers as characters and Roleplayers as Players running into each other – what makes Guild Wars 2 great is that 99% of the time it doesn’t end in conflict and that is what is important
(Piken Square Roleplayer here)
Another one of these. Also OP, it is usually customary for the person asking to show us theirs first.
But once again, here goes:
9,393 hours 20 minutes across all characters, still no precursor drop.
We already have a form of duelling – Costume Brawl!!
It’s separate skills to normal skills so it’s fair no matter what level you’re characters are.
Costume brawl could do with a bit of expansion to be honest.
After completing the Living Story, a nice thing to have I think would be a Doppelgänger Mini Pet. A mini replica of your own character
