There’s so many people on the GW2 forums that say they’ve left or hinted they left, yet still feel they care to comment in the forums. confused

Yes, this guy is a legendary troll xD
From what I’ve seen he haven’t done anything wrong, he is just having some fun, and I gotta admit he crack me up everytime I see him in chat xD

You’ve clearly not seen what people have been whispered then.

In all honesty though, ArenaNet should at least warn him, if not ban him. The game is not a Chat room or a dating website. To some people it might be a joke, but to others it’s truly perverse the way he speaks if you are unfortunate enough to have had a whisper from him.

New champ train [in development]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kessex hills is good to get champs – the Toxic Spider Queen spawns often enough and near the Alchemist, that there’s no need for a CPH (Champs Per Hour) run in circles – you just go as often as someone shouts a champ, and because it’s not CPH based, nobody gets irate in map chat when a champ is killed.

Trying to set things in an order is not guaranteed, so should not be heavily relied upon anyway, and that’s why the Champ Train in QD had to go, because it was made ‘a rule’ that it should be done this way or that way, and other players were wrong because it was messing up the “correct” order of things. There is no order to the champs in Kessex, and that’s better for everyone.

My opinion of course.

Ever since the Champ Train got nerfed, I’ve made at least eight new friends from different servers – all of whom I’ve met in Queensdale. Queensdale is more alive than ever before, thanks partly to the Megaservers, but also partly because of the much nicer atmosphere since the train’s gone.

It’ll be a lot nicer when the anti-train gloaters have finally got over it too though, admittedly

My opinion is that Achievement Points are not a measure of skill, but a measure of what targets you’ve aimed for.

Nothing to do with skill, just targets. Someone who has only 5,000 points may simply have just not aimed for the same or as many targets as someone with 18,000 points.

See, this just proves the complaints about Qd were mostly outrageously exaggerated nonsense. There hasn’t been one for 3 days and the OP didn’t even notice it’s gone. Yet, still comes on here to complain about nothing.

One person being behind the times does not mean that everybody else’s complaints are not valid. There was good reason why many people including myself wanted it to go.

One time I helped two level 5 new players kill the Bandit as both were downed when they stumbled upon it. I revived them, helped them kill it and got a ty from them. Then, I got called a C-Word by one member of the champ train.

Another time, I simply stated that the Bandit was ready in map chat. Not touching it, I even cleared the path to make way for the incoming champ train of all the low level bandits. I was called a jerk by one member of the champ train. Another member at the same time when the train arrived did a rude emote of them spitting on me. Just for announcing it.

Another time a player completed the bombing of the Skritt cave, and ran to Boar area where he stumbled upon the wasp and told map chat wasp was up. He was told to not be an R-Word by starting it and come over to troll instead.

Another time… (I can go on – is it really exaggerated nonsense?)

Chasing The Banners Of Acheron

If the rest of the game isn’t worth playing, the champ trains are a waste of time anyway.

Excellent point this. If the Champ Train is the only reason some of the people (who have threatened to leave the game) to stay, what are they aiming for? A Legendary? Ascended gear? To do what? Farm more because the rest is rubbish?

penelopehannibal.8947

I think ArenaNet’s intention of the champ loot bags was not for people to all day accumulate them in the first place but for players to get the odd one or two, or five each day as they explored.

Then people farmed them – making the value of what was inside them drop (on the TP) – so they lowered the loots a little.

Then people farmed some more. People started getting agitated with each other over who does what and who is allowed to kill a champ, and who is too slow because they couldn’t keep up with the train whilst at the same time, one person should wait for the train.

So, sorry, it’s not surprise the champ train got nerfed.

As for people saying it’s all about the gem store – remember that there is no monthly fee to this game, and that gems can also be bought via in-game gold, without obligation.

There are also many, many other champs out there in the PvE areas, as well as loot obtainable from PvP tracks now, and there’s still WvW & EotM zerging if you miss button 1 bashing.

For the people that screamed and shouted and swore at players for killing a champ – I say they have nobody to blame but themselves.

(p.s. this topic should and probably will get merged)

There is bound to be some upset over this initially – but for the long term, Arena Net have done the right thing. It’s going to cut down on the skewing of the game to new players – it’s going to dramatically cut down on map chat fighting and swearing (coming from both sides of the argument) and existing players will hopefully once again find the explorer in them.

There’s a whole world out there – and if all you stayed for was the champ train (edit – as people have stated they will leave the game because of it), you’re seriously missing out on a lot of content!

An End to the Queensdale Train

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947

penelopehannibal.8947

Queensdale train is popular, in my mind, because you can do it before you’re level 80. I champ trained my engi more or less from 20 to 80 (I guess I did a good bit of other stuff intermittently) before it got nerfed to hell, because it was the fastest way I could level him without pugging up for dungeon runs.

And honestly, if new players are disturbed by the champ train, let them speak. I’ve only seen experienced players complaining on their behalf, with no evidence that the train is in any way affecting their experiences negatively.

Besides, this is what GW2 is right now. It’s a good introduction to what they will ultimately find themselves doing when they hit max level, unless Anet wises up and starts putting some real content into the game.

The issue isn’t really about what people are doing, whether someone likes doing a train or not. The big issue is the fighting that happens because of it. I don’t mind people doing a train, just so long as they’re being friendly to players and just move on quietly without a whinge or a moan when they discover a champ has been killed before them.

The trouble is, if you account bind gold, they’ll change from being Gold Sellers to Ecto Sellers. Then it’ll be something else, then something else, then something else. They’ll find a way round it each time.

The best way to fight gold sellers is to speak up against them. We have something the gold sellers don’t have: each other. We have friends, guildies, and a voice. Speak up against them, warn people of the dangers. They can’t fight that.

They could just change the loot system so that the bag quality is based on the mobs level, and not the players. There easy fix. Now all the lvl 80s would go do the harder content and the lower leveled players can still level in groups.

Or if you want to be less radical, remove the exotic lootbag from the low level champions. Achieves the same thing but still gives a somewhat better reward for the higher levels.

The champ train breeds a bad mentality and it should be adressed. I too have been yelled at for playing my alt and engaging a champion with some friends.
And it wasnt really “Hey, next time, maybe you could wait until we get there so we all get the reward? Then you can tag along for some more loot!”, no. It was: “moron, idiot, noob, useless” etc.
Get rid of the train in the low level areas.

Then there goes the incentive for players to go to lower level maps. And ends the notion of end game starts at level 1.

I’ve run the train a few times. Never saw any vitriol being posted. Not even when there was a second train running on the map. Or when bandit got killed off “schedule”.

Yes, there are those who are for the train that do post vitriol and harass any who disrupt the train. But those who purposely disrupt the train to get them riled up so that they can be reported are just as bad in my opinion. Because they cause the same kind of nastiness in the zone.

If the champ train is the only reason why anyone wants to go to a low level area then perhaps they need to think about why exactly are they playing. I mean, there’s a whole world out there, but if people are just playing the game now for the champ train, why not go play solitaire or something instead? You do the same four things over and over again and there’s nobody to bother your sequence.

There’s a whole world out there guys – not just Queensdale. Make an adventure for yourself, you’ll find you’ll have a lot more fun, because seriously, people who get irate at other people are not really having fun by that points, are they?

There’s a familiar saying on Piken Square that will fit this topic:

I’m 32.

(It’s an inside joke thing between many of us on that server, but I still am until 02 June!)

I do know of people in their 60s and 70s that have been playing too. Sometimes you get things like “How is it someone’s over 30 playing more often than me who is a teenager” and teenagers saying “You’re too old to play video games” just say to them “So, when you’re 29 you’ll just all of a sudden stop playing will you?” and most of them won’t!

Guild Wars 2 is a 12+ Game, not a 12-29 game.

As players, we are in a far more powerful position to combat gold sellers than ArenaNet are.

We don’t need to lose our right to help out gaming friends when they need gold. We just have to use the most powerful tool we have to spread the word about how band gold buying is.

Use your respective server communities to your advantage by using map chat to explain what these gold sellers do and that there’s only one real safe way to buy gold, and that’s through The Gem Store.

I know it seems like common sense to most of us that buying gold is dangerous and wrong, but not all players are experienced in MMOs. Some players don’t understand the dangers of these websites, and others are not experienced with the internet altogether, and when they see these genuine looking websites, there’s no sense of danger whatsoever.

If everyone speaks up in map chat just how against gold buying and selling ArenaNet, and we are the message will get through about hacked accounts are used.

Oh, and don’t forget to block and report every single whisper and map chat message you see. They’re slowly losing their numbers now anyway.

As long as Anet has Champs on their monthly list the train will exist. Hopefully,.. players can be mature and as laid back as I’ve seen the past two days if someone inadvertently derails the train. But, I’ll check again tomorrow.

Weekends are when it’s worst – from both sides berating each other. I must put another 4 to 6 new people per weekend on block just because of this.

There is one solution that seems to work against the map chat abuse though. Last weekend I stationed my main character at the bandit, and every time the chat got a bit rowdy, I threw a jar of Harpy Pheromones at the crowd once they got to the bandit. The result was almost instant! People stopped shouting, some people “lol why have I got love hearts coming out of my head?” and people were laughing and joking.

I just wish I could afford a lifetime supply though – as I went through about 30 of them in one day and the jars are not cheap in bulk! Still – it worked though! ^ ^

I’m fairly sure that ArenaNet ARE listening to everyone. There’s so much information and opinions on these forums, for them to comment on every single one, AND give us answers would be very unrealistic.

They can only give us answers on stuff that is definite i.e. content they’ve finished.

They can’t turn around and answer as soon as a question is ask and say “Yeah, we’ll do this” because they could start working on it, then it not end up working. And what will happen then? “But you promised us!…” people will be shouting!

ArenaNet are not politicians, they are game designers. They don’t want to break promises.

I’m on Piken Square myself, and the RP is affected here too. What makes us great gamers though, is the ability to adapt. Who knows, maybe they will do an RP tag for us. But they’re not going to announce before it’s been made, and I certainly think it’d be a bad idea for them to say “Hey, we’ll look into that idea” and it not happen too. That would break people’s hearts more.

Trust me, it’s better this way! Stay healthy, stay safe, look after each other and enjoy your RP! <3

An End to the Queensdale Train

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: penelopehannibal.8947

penelopehannibal.8947

I really don’t understand why people are complaining more about the play style choices of each other over the constant abuse towards players that the champ train has brought to Queensdale map chat.

Someone killing a champ and not on the train is not a troll or a griefer. They are playing the game in a way that the game allows.

A bunch of people running to get to a champ on time is also not trolling or grieving. They are playing the game in a way that the games allows also.

People speaking in map chat, and calling other people the R-Word or the F-Word or whatever, this is the real problem of the Champ Train, and it’s getting very, very nasty out there some of the chat. Especially weekends. It’s absolutely appalling some of the words people say to each other over one champion.

It’s a terrible example to set for new players. They buy the game, load their human character. Successfully destroy the Earth Elemental, and then bam.

“Train?” “Oak” “Someone already killed it.” “R*****s!” followed by more constant arguing over almost nothing. Perhaps 3 silver worth of loot that you can get back anyway.

Yes – people have the right to block people for abusive language and report. That option is there. But it should not be the case where in a game that is otherwise head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to open-play community and friendly and co-operative play, that someone has to spend at least once or twice a day reporting someone for something.

Please, end the champ train, for both side’s sake!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I’m all in favour in getting rid of the Champion Train in Queensdale, for the sole reason of the map chat abuse. People swearing, calling people names, screaming and shouting and being disruptive from both sides of the argument (train and non-train) should be enough reason for it to be scrapped, especially in a zone where there are many new players, whom I feel sorry for the most.

It’s not fair that someone spends £30+ on a game, log in, and have to see some of the filth that is said in map chat just because someone’s killing a champion out of turn. There are far worse things happening in the world guys!

However, how can this be done? I personally think that bringing back The Crown Pavilion would do well (or implement something similar), as many people used that for repetitive champion killing, and hardly a sore word was ever said.

It keeps higher level farmers away from the starting zone, it will greatly reduce the map chat grieving, and new players will actually find help when they need it too when they first start the game!

Sometimes it’s happened when I’ve killed a foe. Other times when I’ve run away from doing an action with something (Pressing F to view a picture, for instance). I’m not sure if there’s any need, since the recent added option is not a “Language Detecter” as such, it is based on what people have as their “Language Text” in options.

For instance, my option is set to English, so I see only other player’s text in /map who also have “Language Text” option set to English. I can still type something in French or German and the same players will still see it. And vice versa for players who have Spanish, German & French set as their main text in options. It occurred to me that since the April 15th Feature Pack, there could be a potential waste of gems for players when gifting an outfit to a friend (especially if it’s a surprise present) that the friend might already have.

Since outfits are now account bound, players only need one, so I recommend that the ‘Gift’ option in The Gem Store does a check to see if the receiving player already has a skin unlocked. If not, is there a way that a person receiving a gift can return the Gems? (Much like “Return to Sender” button in mail)

This is fairly good news then. However, it only leaves us one day to buy the item at the discounted price, and that might not be convenient for everybody as we all have different pay days and pay day intervals (Weekly, Monthly, Bi-Monthly etc.)

I think they are going to be fixing it rather soon now, although they did say it will have been fixed last night, then today, and it’s still not happened, but fingers crossed by the April 15 Update if not before.

Happens to me on occasion too. Happens with Enter/Return and sometimes with Backspace too. Although, does not happen to me all the time, it’s more random for me rather than guaranteed to happen at some point.

Although I feel your frustration as I’m a Mac user myself, we must remember that due to the size of the game, that it’s not just the Mac Beta that has problems!

We do, however, suffer from a lot more bugs though than the Windows client. But Windows users aren’t without frustrations themselves.

Since probably most Mac Beta users are experiencing The Gem Store not working for them, is it possible for any special offers that might be on at this time to be extended for us? It would be a shame if a lot of Mac Beta users miss out on any special offers, such as the current discount on Character Slots (which I’m personally interested in!)

Strangely for me, it’s the other way round. Trading Post is working for me just fine, but cannot get into The Gem Store or Currency Exchange!
