I should also clarify im talking GS and reaper combo. Im would like to think that we all arent hyped soley for reaper form. My main gripe is the GS and its mechanics. For all that holy or unholy— Guardian GS, Warrior GS, and Ranger GS hit harder and faster.

About half of Reaper is solid or very easily adjustable as is. Reaper Shroud is great, almost all around, half the traits are solid, about 4/6 shouts are good. Its just Greatsword is really trash and so are some traits. Its all fixable though, very much so.

yes the gs concept is fixable, but do we feel that ANET will give it love? Im highly skeptical that they will.

For the reaper they should undo any chill limitations they put on the other classes; and add the chronomancer slows to the gs autos so we can actually hit things with it

i highly disagree, the reaper has a lot of potential and with some quality of life and fine tuning it will be a very nice spec.

the greatsword though is underperforming and i agree that chill does not have such a huge impact.

the mobility is fine, 600 range on 5s is more than most classes have by far. the problem of this skill is rather that it’s completely useless for anything than movement.

1) this is about the reaper greatsword

2) gs is added to the class— it should be a viable weapon

3) if you really like your dagger/eh/foc spec stay onthe necro end of things— no sense going to the reaper skillset.

4) reaper 2 is supposed to allow you to catch your prey. For the most part in pvp its a poorly implemented skill.— chills dont last, players simply leap, double dodge out of your range and you cant get them.

Furthermore— most players strafe way from your hits as they are overtly telegraphed and lethargic, so you cant even land your minimal chill lol.

and lastly

Poor defense mechanism for the reaper. Id like to see 10% of your health added to toughness just be equpping that GS, and a no timer spectral form on every crit using a GS coupled with quickness on every critical— that how bad GS is and needs to be tuned to use in pvp.

PVE not just in this game, but all modern mmos is a cakewalk in todays genre. Gone are the days of original eq1/daoc difficulty, so GS use in pve is a non factor.

I told you so a few weeks ago.

The real icing on the cake imo is our poor class mechanic known as chill.

Using the greats word in Pvp is just terrible.

Mr ghee stated in his video that the reaper would have slow but powerful arks, with the added bonus of snaring opponents so they can’t get away.

Ok. So the reality is that chill is worthless as a snare as it drops off too soon to be of any use thanks to chill nerf that people said had no impact on the reaper….. Lol

Our gap closer is worthless as u have no control and it barely closes any gap.

For Pvp this class is a reaper of wheat and not souls.

It’s so frustrating to play a class that truly is an after thought.
The reaper is good in concept but poor in performance.

Not really. 5 blasts requiring 5 targets. In most situations you wont get that. And well on a lot of fields its not that strong. And in other cases the number of blasts is already completely covered by teammates. So no i dont think its broken.

You’d have up to 25 blasts across your skills, many of them on lower CDs than single blast finishers in those situations, it is absolutely 100% undeniably broken, and the only way it wouldn’t be is if they completely gutted the shouts.

There are plenty of things in the game already that could easily be considered insanely broken. And they are certainly more powerful than a situational 5 blast skill on a class which has a lack of fields. Icebow, lightning storm, meteor shower are some good examples. Then theres phalanx strength trait. The sheer number of blasts ele has on its weapons. Timewarp now that it has slow. Ring of Earth for projectile defence. Mimic… You get the idea.

1. Those are only broken in PvE, your suggestion would be broken in everything
2. You don’t balance a game by making everything awfully designed/balanced, your suggestion would just be Dumbfire 2.0 and would end with shouts being worthless.

so…… how then would categorize other classes that have larger dps output coupled with much better survival skill in re to pvp? IE warriors, elem, mesmers?

Why is it that the necro cant seem to be on an even playing field? And as far as dhumfire 1.0— I had already left the game the first time so I don’t know what that was about— but how is that any different than what burn guardians and elemetalists are allowed to do right now?

I mention pvp because pve in this game is like WoW.

the purpose of deathly chill is a poorly designed gm trait if this is correct on your assumption.

necro never had chills that snared and damaged others before. IF chills can can be traited into for damage, there is no reason why they do not intesify as well.

And if you go back and read the posts about th Reaper— tons of people were asking about chill being handled as a cond or not and

IF +COND ITEMS WOULD INCREASE its damage.

the devs actually resposnded and confirmed that chill as damage would be affected my +cond items.

In any event why are you arguing AGAINST someone who is trying to make the REAPER adhere to what the devs said it was going to do?

Boggles my mind how necros are shunned, then the very same necros come here and like their solidarity as a 2nd rate class per the general population of players.

I hope Reaper is available in the upcoming betas so I can prove myself wrong.

Chill stack in duration it won’t stack in intensity even for the sake of the Reaper. The trait Deathly chill will basically do the same thing than Terror. And I’m pretty sure that fear also have this 5 “stacks” limitation and that nobody actually care about this fact.

ONCE AGAIN INCORRECT

devs stated that chill is now a condition, and as a result, dealthly chill becomes condition based damage and stacks of conditions is where current cond builds get their burst.

if we are limited to 5 stacks thats terrible. If we had unlimted amount of chill stacks— because almost everythig a reaper does ends or results in a chill, then we would have a competative cond build to guardians, mesmers, engineers, and elementalists.

A lot of what im reading here pertains to necros rather than reapers……

anyhow— the reason that the chill stacking is important is due to the the trait deathly chill.

I had the full intent of making a cond/power reaper that is akin to to the buring spec guardian.

Now that idea is out the door as you get a MAX of 5 stacks, whereas guardians pretyy much get unlimited.

As it stands now- my guardian burns take about 3? seconds to ramp up and tick for 2k to 8k.
That mechanic is now removed from the reaper—any for what reason? I dont even know.

Im am sincerely shocked that one of the devs showed himself for over an hour on a livestream touting the Reapers singature skill of note— Chill, and how once chilled— your opponent cannot escape.

Well now ’enemies can escape if they have access to leaps, slides, teleports— which is almost every class.

due to the 2 nerf bats within weeks of each other.— to our parent class— the insanely overpowered, wanted in every group necromancer.

Also— our glap closer— which is in reaper from mind you, has a shorter range than the one in our regular shroud lol.

So chill is relagated to a very minor inconvience, we cant trait it to do massive damage like other builds can with their conditions, and we leap half as far as we used to coupled with much slower attack speeds than every other class.

Hows this beneficial or even neutral for that matter?

Main problem is this new burst meta(40% more DPS), Thief is really squishy class without defensive abilities like protection,endurance pain etc. built on evade mechanism.ArenaNet on last big patch make big mistake -> nerf vigor and remove Feline’s Grace = destroyed Thief core mechanism

Look on other classes.

Mesmer -> Invurnerability,Evade,Blind,Blink,Portal,Stunlock,Invis,cleanse and massive burst DPS . Thats all in one build.

Warrior -> Hight HP pool,2x endurance pain,cleanse 3 conditions every 6sec,mobility, 2x endurance pain,berserker stance,massive HP regen. Thats all in one build

Elementalist -> no coment.

etc.

All single class has more than Thief.

what memer build is that? id like to know what is ti— ‘cuz everytime I get on my Mesmer I don’t see the burst and cc at all

Chill hasn’t been trivialized, snares haven’t been minimalized.

You’re wrong
chill stacks max 5x
compared to unlimited that every other conditions get.

So specing into chill damage with a reaper is pointless.

Any class with multiple movement abilities will never be caught by the reaper like they are supposed to.

Only fanbois support necro nerfs bawb.

Main reason I came back to the game was to play a Reaper.

Now since ive returned- 2 major hits to the core mechanics of the Reaper have been implemented

1) the minimilization of snares
negates the Reaper core mechanics— CHILL

2) the trivialization of the the CHILL MECHANIC itself— which again is the CORE OF THE REAPER.

1st and foremost
we need bleeds to stack more and faster

all the bleed skills we have need to apply more stacks per hit.

dagger1 needs to have a bleed component added.

if burns cant stack to 20k per tick…… well that in and of itself says it all

then so should bleeds.

the only cond that is out of control is

BURNING.

all other conditions do not even compare to the quickness and level of damage that burning does.

IE
Elem:
anywhere from 8k to 20k burning ticks
as evidenced here-

Guard:
pretty consistent 8k to 10k ticks

these builds utilize sinister gear, and trait themselves to maximize burn procs and bonus damage vs burning targets.

You do not see confusion and bleeds do anywhere near that level of dps.

And the other item to note with burning is that you don’t have to wait for the ramp up— you can easily hot 25 stacks with a few seconds.

What I’m bothered about now is the fact that other classes, especially guardians are able to hit a lot harder than us, it’s not even close.

So for me hopefully the introduction of 2hsword with traits chills that damage will be off the chart.

4k to 7k dagger hits… maybe its gear?
I have no ascended, and I am running full rampagers exotic atm (was trying to find someway to still take advantage of any cond improvements)

Im not sure that ascended makes 200%-400% dispartiy in damage though.

Im sitting at 2300 power 2100 crit atm as a reference point.

If i could figure out how to hit with MH dagger for 4 to 7k Im all in.

Whats the build/gear you are using?

condi ele was never viable and won’t be.. what condi ele was is a cheesy 1v1 spec that doesn’t help your team at all. d/d isn’t the strongest 1v1 spec in the game but the best in terms of support, cc and damage, that’s why it’s meta.

Is Meta the official ANET stance on builds and classes?

I thought so. If something ISNT SANCTIONED BY THE DEVS, and APPROVED BY DEVS

then its not part of the game.

The META is purely speculation from NON SUPPORTED and NON VERIFIAZBLE 3rd party sources.

I can guarantee you that non player fluff META builds do not perform worlds better than non META builds.

Its the players that control the character not the other way around.

4) just how exactly?—- in many of these O no a necro! groups, many of the times I am the last one standing, I rez all these fools using my signet, and we fin off the boss.

Confused about the the stated vision of the Reaper when it was debuted a mos and a half ago in regards to the new anti snare CC changes that were announced last week.

It seems to me that the crux of the reaper was big damage coupled with virtual perma chill condition status.

What is the point of having a plethora of chill, when chills will not snare characters who have access to leaps, runbuffs, and teleports- which is just about every class.

It seems like they have neutered the Reaper before it even went live.

That makes me think that current HoT alpha testers must be complaining about the Reaper; and thus this anti snare travel mumbo jumbo has been devised

I’ve got to get this off my chest.

-How can some of you look people in the eye and claim Arenanet is not giving you a whole lot of content(HoT specifically) when you haven’t played or experienced everything(and I mean EVERYTHING) that is this expansion offers, hmm? Do any of you have access to some leaked version of the full expansion or w/e? Enough with assumptions and back seat game development. You don’t work for Anet.
-The base expansion is $50. Ok, cool. Historically, most MMO expansions have been about $40-60. So how is this a problem? It’s because people keep equating whatever “value” the game has with games that aren’t even in the same genre: ie every game that doesn’t require an internet connection. They just don’t say it(probably because they dot understand the meaning of their words). Those games(usually) don’t ask for this level of pricing because they don’t have to continue developing content for it. People can continue to play those games well after the publisher and devs have moved on to other projects. MMOs(and MOBAs) don’t get this luxury.
-Yet naive individuals here will procrastinate on the “value” of the prices. There is no “value”. That’s a subjective emotion you make up for yourself to justify your purchase. And there’s nothing wrong with that. However, it holds not one kitten ounce of meaning as far as the quality of the expansion goes. We have reviews/reviewers for that.

The price of reason is steep.

At least we can still all agree that the real only valid argument here is that the standard edition does not come with a free character slot. As it should, at the minimum for people who bought the game very recently.

easy fix that would make necromancers welcome in groups-
and that is to change the REAPER CHILL to GREATER CHILL.

This would allow the the REAPERS CHILL to be the ONLY chill htat is unaffected by the incoming snare nerf.

I hit hard, kill fast, and at least provide utility to a party with AOE heals with wells, AOE heals in DS with skill 4, and stability and blindness from wells too.

I was chuckling at the guild leader when he told me run 6/6/0/0/2 or else you cant party with the guild’s dugeon runs.

It was especially funny because in TS he stated he doesnt know how to play a necro, and they never take necros in groups.

My experience has been that this vamp well build does atleast as good as the meta, while prviding decent group support.

Any opinions on this?

that’s the MAIN PROBLEM
no names, nothing shows up at all except the damage numbers on screen. There is no trace as to who is doing it.

So there is some program out there that is able to ‘fool’ the serverside of NCsoft.

Ive seen something similar in in an recent hardcore MMO from Europe where players negate pixel limitations of the game world and can be int he ground under you yet still hit you.
Im sure this is something similar.

PVP is the unaltered encounter between 2+ opposing forces that takes a chance meeting and tries to turn the tide to gain an advantage or victory.

Some people you encounter may outgear you— are you going to ask them to remove their gear?

Horrible editing, why have you got 2 music tracks playing at the same time? Also just boring for me. I don’t enjoy watching duel videos, they’re not fun to watch, the games not balanced for it, it never boils down to skill vs skill, it’s always class/build vs class/build, which one is superior over the other, were the fights actually on an equal footing (You not starting with 100% life force at the start of a fight) you wouldn’t have won most of those fights.

Also, bit more variation instead of Attack on titan soundtrack next time maybe, alsooo.. Mute your bloody Guild wars 2 audio.

Duel is not a game mode , duel has no rules , people make them . There is nothing official . In tpvp when you will meet that necro with full life force earned from previous kill you will not ask him to drain it .

You said it yourself, “from previous kill” what about the other person? Where are his bonuses from the previous fight? I thought the dueling community wanted fights to be as fair as possible, hence why they ‘frown upon’ certain elites being used?
You shouldn’t really be comparing TPvP to duels in WvW, TPvP is designed around teamplay and coordination with your teammates, not running around dueling everyone.
The game is not balanced around dueling, it never will be, and this is why. The game is designed around teamwork.

So I just returned to the game last week.

Im on the green team in WvW, and im playing mostly in dge of the Mists.
There are 2 players? on opposing team(s) who are using some exploit/hack that allows them to

1. remain unseen
2. damage players without their damage showing up on combat logs
3. im assuming use insta teleport/relocation hacks to get all over the place in an instant.

We know its is a necromancer and a thief as we can see the damage as well as the activation powers they are using; however, once again, it will not appear in comabt logs. They are able to wipe the whole zerg train using this method, as well use execution finishers on everyone.

Anyhow, many people have said they frapps it and reported it, and I thought I d sdhare it here, as I do not know if itd happenning game wide or if it specifically just the other 2 server we happen to be fighting.

Hi folks— title says it all. I retunerd to he game last week to get set for HoT.
I have played since beta and accumulated a lot of rare items or expensive items.

HOWEVER…………….

I am missing every piece of cultural and dungeon armor and weapons I bought.
This includes

t3 human heavy
t2-3 sylvan light and medium
as well as most of the exotic dungeon armors.

Can devs get this back? That’s lost of time and gold gone
I was told in MAP chat that if you transmuted these items using the original method that ANet just deletes them?

If any dev can look at my account and see that I did indeed have these items it would be much appreciated.

In fact im missing even event items like the 2h chainsword— which was core to my space marine look=(
