first of all, i5 6400 demolishes the i3 6100 in gw2, the real price/performance king right now its the i5 6500 (costs a 10 $ more) wich i highly recomend for gw2
the diference between i5 4460 and 6500 is around 5%
as for GPU, if u dont play other games i will pick the gtx 950, but if u also play newer titles like doom for example, you should go with gtx 960. both these cards consume around 120W and you dont need a big psu. you can wait for polaris to launch at the end of this month and take a look at price/performance ratio
and of course go with at least 8 gb of ram

the only real advantage of 1080 over 390x in gw2 its heat disipation and power consumption. performance wise you will gain nothing. but it depends what other games are you playing/ what resolution, etc.

you rly dont need to upgrade your GPU, its perfect for Gw2. and you also have an amazing CPU. just save your $$

Why would they buff dungeons? The entire point of the nerf was to discourage people from doing them.

nerf only served with HOT introduction and to shift the “preffered contend of players” so why not make them viable again?
and since allmoast all types of content got something “legendary” its sounds good to add backpiece here too

alot of people hated the dungeon nerf, so, lets make them nice and enjoyable again by increasing gold rewards by 25% and adding LEGENDARY backpacks to them

fermi reminded me about my cousin who runs a pentium g 3258 at 4.3 ghz and yet he still gets lesser performance than my i5 2320 3.0 ghz (sandy bridge aka 2011 chip) and the performance gap is still big enough to be noticed easily

For GW2 (and most other games actually) it doesn’t matter wether you aim for an i5 or i7 since (as you stated correctly yourself) GW2 doesn’t really use multiple cores, so it’s the single core performance that matters.
So your decision should depend on what else you wanna do with that laptop.

gw2 uses up to 3 cores correctly so a quad core is a must.
on laptops u should aim for i7 6700 HQ if possible, if not, search for i5 6440HQ as stated above

if u have stock cooler, just upgrade it to 212 evo as stated above, its a great performer that costs nothing
i7’s offload tonz of heat so stock cooler is there only to give you something untill you upgrade the cooler
if u are under 80°C its safe but i bet your cooler makes alot of noise

my take on great pc for gw2

gtx 960 4gb (go for gigabyte/msi/evga, asus strix does not have the heatsink attached to vrm so it heats up like a toaster)
i5 6500 is the best bang for the buck imo
8 gb DDR4 ram ( get a single stick and if u need add a second one in the future)
450w psu get seasonic/corsair/cooler master
lga 1151 with ddr4 support
850 evo 250 gb ssd

pc case is up to your taste, mobo as well, depends on what feature u need on it

i5 6600k its amazing, that ssd its rock solid too. for 1440p go with 970, since a good 500w psu will handle it no problem, gtx 980 its not a good value for the money, better step up to 980 ti if u have the $$
and i might recommend going for 16 gb ram, especially if u use ts/skype and have tons of tabs in chrome or if u stream/record. from what i noticed, 8gb its enough for now but in the near future it might not cut it anymore

r9 390 its a nice alternative cuz of 8gb vrm but u need good 650W psu for that

personally i will go with MSI, also think about EVGA
if u are on 1080p, gtx 970 is overkill by a long shot ( for Mmo’s )so maybe get the 960 4gb wich is still more than enough for gw2, tera, BnS, Black desert etc. and put the rest of the money in another thing or save for further upgrades
also, depends how often do you upgrade, is under 3 years >>960, if 4-5>> 970

that m.2 drive is top priority and a must for me when ill hopefully upgrade in 6-7 months
just tested the sm951 129 gb at a friend (he paired it with an i5 6500 an 16 gb ddr4), i see the diference but its not that impressive since in map loading times he has like 4-5 seconds advantage over 850 evo

950 pro makes the most sense in itx builds where u dont need that cable mess inside so its nice to have

also some tests revealed that 950 pro’s and sm 951’s thermal throttle alot when under high load, so maybe thats a problem too
some ppl even slapped some heatsinks to them to reduce throttle

with m.2 samsung 950 pro u have like 4x the read performance so it makes sense still i wait for this kind of ssd to go cheapper

i saw a benchmark with i7 5960x oced to 4.5 ghz + 980 ti, at 4k(ultra) and 1440p (ultra settings) during jormag fight and fps still sux ( 20-25 fps)
if the most powerfull 8 core intel has that performance it makes sens that your i7 6700 will not get greater fps.
just drop down some settings (player culling makes the biggest impact on performance)

imo gw2 wins hands down, even if black desert has that shiny stunning new graphics.
i like the nostalgia from lineage 2 with its point and click and at the same time i enjoy the action mmo combat thats in BnS/ terra etc. and gw2 its the middle of the road for me, just the perfect fit.
i took a 3 week vacation for BnS, yes it was amazing(omg dat action combat) but theres not enough content and liberty to pick the way i like to farm, gw2 on the other hand lets me farm how i want and still get lotz of gold, today i wanna chop trees, i can do that, i wanna run champ trains, yep its possible, sw, hot maps metas, hell even wvw rewards you some gold. for me its about the flexibility that gw2 brings and this is the reason why i still play it. ill rage about devs decisions, ill curse about classes “ballance” but in the end i will still play cuz its the only1 that suits my mood.
tried black desert, and i dislike the controlls and the way combat is done, the lack of fluidity in chain skills etc.

they overhaul and fix wvw for 2 years :/, maybe in 2017 it will be ready

i love thematic skins, if u are warrior i wanna see massive plated armor, thief looks nice in leather armor that lets him execute quick and precise stunts…the list is soo long
also i like when i see guardians with shield and sword (i still have the concept of tanking in mind, even tho in gw2 this is not the case)

auric basin gets my vote, in all questions posted above, the meta is nice and reminds me of TT, mobs can be chalenging sometimes, rewards are good, has gorgeous graphics, its not a complete Bs to navigate and learn the map like TD, since i want to make auric weapons collection, it has the best curency for me, story its so nice cuz we meet the exalted and its relaxing to explore, so yeah ^^

90% of content is perfectly soloable, but u must know your class and use different build setups. the only class that gave me headache is thief as it is super squishy but even then, i managed to solo at least 70% of content with it.

nowdays the old legendary weapons dont even look so legendary since all players have em’ and the new ones… Anet gave us 3 legendary weapons, ok, cool, they look amazing, have nice efects but where are the others? i want a new greatsword ( im sick of sunrise skins all over the place) and i wait for it since Hot launch day
