Yeah, everyone knows about ET’s situation. Hope things get better for you guys soon, it’s been kind of sad to see how slow you and HoD drop because of how the ranking system works.

Also, that one shot on our dolyak was pretty impressive.

Yes, to be fair, all of the reports I heard from the last match were Yak’s Bend and they owned up to it. So let’s stop talking about that and start talking about how Ehmry Bay has over 75% of points on prime time in the first night.

Can we please not go down this road again. We managed to not get any threads locked with last week’s match and we all had a great time. Don’t ruin it for this week.

I must be blind, where is the person in the screenshot? By the way, pretty sure you do know some people in PANG from the last fight club…at least they seem to know you :P

Nah, I’m talking about when we were defending. I don’t know what the exact numbers were, but I think you guys had quite a bit more than us. People kept setting up siege on the cliff and I destroyed lots of it (IIRC, at least four arrow carts, two of which were superior, two catapults, and two trebuchets). Someone finally wised up and placed two trebs at the far edge where I couldn’t reach, then placed another one at the northwest gate, which finally destroyed mine.

Edit: Also, congrats to everyone for zero threads locked for this matchup. That’s the true victory.

Maguuma PUG’s tend to be aware of these things. You can switch to Maguuma and save yourself a lot of frustration.

Yeah, I just hit level 40 on my Nth alt and have all the skills I need right now with I think 12 skill points to spare. I don’t have a 30 skill point elite, nor do I need one. I don’t know why anyone would wear white armor anyway, there are only very rare circumstances where you’ll pick up white armor that’s better than what you have. The bigger issue is lazy people like me who don’t refresh their gear for too many levels, but that’s easily fixed.

I was going to congratulate this player for besting some of my Maguuman comrades, however the trash talking and combat log-out completely destroyed any respect I had for this guy.

No offense to you but until we were matched against Maguuma I never experienced anyone combat log before. That doesn’t make it okay, of course. But you can’t get on that guys case for doing it when people on your own server do it too.

Umm, yes he can. He can get on the case of anyone who does it on Maguuma, too. It’s just we don’t see it. I don’t see why you’re turning this into a server thing.

Most of the time we’re outnumbered 3-1 but whenever we have any chance at equal numbers, we wipe both Darkhaven and Dragonbrand together and all we see are complaints on the forums. Notice how someone on Darkhaven started it by calling our stacking tactic “cheesy.” You may or may not have noticed that someone from Darkhaven also took a first shot in a post that got deleted. Can we please just shut up about hacking and stacking and portal bombing and play the game? Of all things, everyone should be happy that this matchup is much more exciting than the last one. Or we can all keep complaining and aim for a new record of locked threads.

I was at Stonemist all day yesterday and I can tell you that you are completely wrong about Stonemist not having supply. Later in the evening we had trouble maintaining supply to get fortify up because someone started doing concurrent upgrades, but we managed to get a last yak in to get the fortify. For most of the afternoon we maintained over 500 supply while running upgrades and running yaks to the castle. Also, it’s obviously just one person making a satirical post in response to the cheesy tactics post, not literally painting the server as a hacking server.

Best thing you can do is report him. Mods do not like things like this on the forums.

We’ve PvD’d pretty much every night since the weekend to take FA territory after their prime time ends. I am not sure how well it will work in the next matchup since I only have a vague picture of Darkhaven’s wide coverage.

Yes, I guess trading vs not is a case-by-case issue and needs to be evaluated before hopping away to other places. In my experience we tend to gain much more than we lose for various reasons that I won’t get into.

IMO, map hopping to avoid fighting is a valid tactic if you care about points in the slightest. It’s boring as hell unless you’re messing around with friends (see every screenshot I’ve posted in this thread), but it’s still necessary. Every night this week Aspenwood just takes over almost everything, but they just go away after awhile. Not switching maps to cap means free points for Aspenwood and a lot less karma-train for us. Now, if you’re not map hopping and not defending like in the above situation, obviously that’s not good. I don’t think you can blame commanderless zergs for running around randomly though. Strategy by committee is a pretty terrible thing.

I don’t know what Maguuma does in the day. They attack something, don’t defend it at all, then switch maps. :s I told them that west keep inner wall was down, and they just needed to break the outer gate, but they up and left maps when they lost garrison. Our morning crew is 15 players at the most, and none of them can read/fight/or defend.

It’s been a pretty common tactic for Maguuma this week whenever outnumbered. If it helps evade the zerg, then all the better. I just hope we collectively realize that the karma trains will have to stop for the next match and we’ll have to fight instead of doing PvD.

You guys paint the map red every morning though, so there’s that. Almost seems like your prime time isn’t even US prime time.

No, please don’t drop a tier. I was pretty unexcited by Maguuma’s previous predicted matchup for next week.

Maguuma (and probably Dragonbrand) are pretty much the same. Sometimes we can queue up a single borderlands after that, but it’s never more than a few minutes.

Did you really need a new thread just to say what many others have already said in the developer’s thread?

I am not arguing that people should be proud of the tactic. I am arguing that by the time you type a single letter or say a single syllable then a thousand bots can roll to a new, precisely specified stack location. Arguing that bots can do it so everyone can doesn’t seem valid to me.

People talk about stack fighting as though it is some sort of deplorable tactic… It takes a lot of coordination to move your stack all at once, etc.

Listen. The bots in frostgorge sound move as a stack. Stacking up takes no skill, effort, or coordination at all. When bots that are incapable of mimicing any but the most basic elements of actual player behavior can pull something off, you really shouldn’t try to claim it’s some complicated bit of brilliant and clever playing.

The individual player behavior is not the key to moving a stack though, it’s coordination. If you’re implying that it’s harder to coordinate bots than humans, well…I think you’re a little confused. I generally agree with your opinion that it’s not that hard, especially with Mumble, but it’s not omg-bots-do-it-so-it’s-easy easy.

You think you know how to take towers and keeps? You know nothing. Maguuma will show you the one true way.

Yeah, stacking is a pretty defensive tactic. I think we overuse it sometimes because we don’t know how many people we’re facing due to culling.

I would also say that the usual commanders and people in public mumble who spam advertisements need to take accounting classes….

They’ll run around taking objectives, and those objectives are taken back by FA within an hour usually. So, yeah, you may be getting some points for the server. But by never defending anything, you are freerolling server points to FA too…

If you really think this then I strongly recommend you step up on the Mumble and take a shot at leading. Defending things is not an easy task when facing a large Aspenwood zerg with small groups cutting off supply and only half of the people following whoever’s in command. If you can change that circumstance, everyone on Maguuma wins. I don’t think it’s as easy as you think, though.

Yeah, don’t let it affect your work, that’s not a good thing. We definitely need more people to step up to command. It’s not just icons that we need, either. Even Mumble tends to fall apart without someone voicing direction. It’s bizarre how one moment everyone is talking and when the commander leaves, you could hear a pin drop. I think we’ll get there eventually, maybe sooner if people are trained for command and tactics. But yeah, can’t say enough how grateful I am for the (overly) hard work you guys put in.

Yes, let’s not dive into this. We all know people cheat and we all know it’s not the entire server’s fault. Move along, this is the stuff that gets threads locked.

I understand there is a reason for it, but seeing a new thread pop up every time someone has the same idea doesn’t do much for people except push other threads down on the list.

Maybe there’s so little positive input because some of these ideas (shorter matchups especially) are rehashed on a daily basis. Just a thought.

I think that’s pretty unfair to say of Aspenwood given how completely they destroyed us in our own (Maguuma) borderlands yesterday. Yes, they had a zerg going, but the small roaming groups that killed me multiple times really messed with us. Being “almost never alone” is not a zerg tactic, it’s a smart one.

Good to see that we have a commander in EB. I saw him last night when everyone moved over to EB for awhile, but it was the first time I’ve seen this commander.

Our current predicted matchup is Darkhaven and Ehmry Bay. Just sayin.

But yeah, I’m using this week to get as many characters as I can to 30 so they have some minimally useful utility. I agree that it’s better to get all of that stuff out of the way this week, but I think some of our commanders may be tied up longer than that.

Badges? We don’t need no stinkin’ badges! But seriously, just have fun. Who cares about winning.

I am well aware of how an ideal alliance would work. I am saying it probably won’t work. Most of Maguuma doesn’t even really care if we win or not, we’re just here to have fun. The ones that care stop playing after the first day.

Considering you guys were at +65 for most of the afternoon, I don’t think anyone was fighting DB :\ Alliances are too fickle, I don’t think we have the coordination to maintain it, even if we really really wanted to. The last time I even remember hearing anything about DB was you guys taking our supply camps.

Agree to disagree, then. I don’t actually care about nightcapping and I will never ever believe that anyone can 100% all of the maps with even numbers.

I’ve been hearing that both servers have been decimated by transfers to Sea of Sorrows, but I hope the matchup is still fun. I think both servers are pretty day time players.

Well it’s a pretty broad generalization when you make the last two day represent the whole matchup. The days that mattered were the first few days and DH nightcapped really well and that’s how you guys bounced way out in the lead.

I didn’t generalize in the slightest. My post was merely trying to show that you guys don’t have a non-existent night force. I’ve seen zergs from both sides. A lot of excuses in previous threads came from “well x server has no night guys so it’s player versus door for Dh”. This night has clearly proven that 100% false. We may have outnumbered you, in fact we most certainly did. However, that does not mean that we didn’t have to fight you guys in substantial numbers at times. It wasn’t usually player versus door, and that was the only point I was making.

No server has a “non-existent” night force, to put it literally, but I don’t think anyone meant it like that. There is no way I would ever believe that Maguuma was putting up substantial fights on all maps when Darkhaven owned all maps.
