Yeah. I found that when we were matched up V TC and YB, there was less useless rage on our matchup threads. I’m surprised this one hasn’t been closed too, with the random attacks on other players that everyone is so hell bent on making. People need to relax.
It’s probably going to be random rage targeted at YB next week.
The funny part is that the first thread was locked due to CD infighting, not because of what you are talking about. Maguuma hasn’t played Yak’s Bend in a long time, so I don’t know what to think of them now. They must have come a long way to be fighting in T3 though, because we beat them last time. We don’t hate all servers that outnumber us, either. A lot of us like Fort Aspenwood quite a bit despite them massively outnumbering us (seemingly), because their coordination is pretty insane compared to ours.
Well, they have pretty equal, if not stronger presence than CD at all times, other than our night/early morning crew. TC is the same way.
Plus, what I’m talking about, is everyone who comes on here, just says they don’t care about winning, and then blindly attacks any player that isn’t on their server, for whatever reason. If it isn’t that they want to win, or they’re mad they’re losing or something, what is it? They want to come on here and just be kitten like that?
I understand that all of the higher tier servers have higher population than either Maguuma or Ehmry Bay, but that’s not (entirely) what people are complaining about. I don’t feel like going down that road again though, so take it as you will.
Some people like to troll, it’s a fact of life. It’s not like CD is exempt from that, given at least one person has admitted to openly trolling us to elicit a response. A lot of people just need to lighten up (including me, I’m sure) and relax. I thought both of the videos posted by Cain were pretty funny. Would it be less funny if it was about our server? Slightly, yeah. But who doesn’t find quaggan knocking people off cliffs funny? It doesn’t matter who “started it” in the forums PvP since we’re (hopefully) no longer in third grade. If people want to participate in a crapfest that someone else started, it doesn’t make them any better.

No, they aren’t. We failed immensely earlier tonight which allowed CD to take west keep. KH played a big part in that.

What you quoted wasn’t about what you think it’s about. Nice try though.
When I was talking about WvW success I wasn’t talking about points, or even winning. I was talking about being good at the things that gain points for the server. You don’t have to win to be good at taking keeps or holding them…. but you do have to be good at those things if you ever want to win.
As you admit yourselves, you guys don’t play to win, so from I’ve seen you’re not developing the skills needed to win as a server. It has nothing to do with the idea that one server is more or less skilled than another, just that some servers, in general, are more focused on being skilled at different aspects of the game than others.
I’m sure there are exceptions on every server, but we’re talking about server wide, on average, players tend to share similar playstyles.
I never said ANYTHING about points = Skill. I’m talking about your own assertion that you don’t care about points, and how that mentality effects the way you play.
I guess I will make this my last reply to you, because we’re literally going in circles and I’m pretty sure we both want to punch each other in the face. Just because we don’t care about winning absolutely does not, in any world ever, mean we don’t care about being good at taking keeps or holding them. You can reiterate that all you want, but you really have no idea what has been happening on our server in the past few weeks, so you’re basing your conclusion off of self-anecdotal observation of a black box. Like I mentioned before, I will freely admit that I believe we’re faltering in some areas, and they may coincide with your observations, but they have nothing to do with your conclusion.
Lastly, apologies for misunderstanding what I quoted, but it seems to be you were absolutely equating “success” with “winning”, which is purely a measure of point value. I’m sure you can understand where the interpretation came from.

Short version of my point…. players who don’t care about the score aren’t going to measure skill in the same way that a player going for points will. Why this is such a hard concept for some of you I don’t know.

I think this is one thing Mag could work on. I don’t think we got that many thieves out there compared to other servers, and if we do they’re just mucking about.
Apparently we have boatloads that just like to gank people instead. But yeah, I kind of feel like we often only do it if it’s on the way to a camp or something like that.

I haven’t really seen an unusual number of them these past few weeks. Saw a few that really knew what they were doing the first week and then a LOT that really didn’t know what they were doing last week (heartseeker strike without some other kind of attack to take a big chunk out of my health first? Maybe in the really high damage gear but not when you’re only going to do half of the health of a clothy before you’re out of initiative…) but the ratios don’t seem unusual to me.

I don’t really see what point you made, especially since your last reply to me didn’t address what I said in the least. Nevermind the fact that your equating of “WvW success” to skill is absurd.
If you’re implying that we don’t make attempts at objectives, i believe you’re mistaken.
I’m not implying that you don’t make attempts, I’m implying that you’re bad at it. I understand you’re outnumbered, mostly at night. But many times during the day and evening you’re not. I’ve seen attempts to retake your own keeps many times in which larger Maguma forces were driven away very easily. You seem to have a very high thief / Messmer ratio, which I’m sure is great for solo killing at the supply camps and then bragging about your skillz….. but is pretty much worthless for sieging.
Your defense, which consists almost entirely of putting large amounts of arrow carts and balistas in the lord’s room and then letting us come right in, might be good for farming badges, but isn’t great at actually holding points for a long period.
I’ve never seen you make an attempt at SMC, and with the number of badges you guys claim to have I’d think you could pull it off. Maybe you spend too much on arrow carts, I don’t know.
Some of you love to take our credit away from us as if we have no skill, and then go around giving advice to CD on how we should be managing our forces, but if you’re completely unwilling to see the big picture, it makes your pov in WvW a very narrow one.
I will admit that lately I’ve come to believe that parts of Maguuma have become a little too complacent in a few ways, but it has nothing to do with whether or not we care about winning. I know my server much better than you do, so I think you should leave that point alone. Or continue to believe what you wish, it really has no effect and is not a helpful critique.
For someone who says we have many thieves and mesmers which are good are soloing, you sure seem to ignore the fact that taking SMC has nothing to do with badges. And the fact that a fully upgraded Stonemist is really difficult to take and not worth the point value, especially when CD will just take it back and re-upgrade it before we even wake up.

But funny anecdote, a couple of nights ago a group of 5-10 of us went over to Ehmry Bay and tried to get the SW supply camp and their defense was literally a bunch of thieves. I don’t think we do that sort of thing, whereas Ehmry was the first server we played that did that (and have at least a guild dedicated just for thieves).

It doesn’t really matter which thread it was, his central point was that winning to attract more players is not a good thing and that Crystal Desert probably experienced some of that when they made it to T2, started losing, and then started losing bandwagoners. Is that wrong?
Some of you really seem to hate guilds that transfer to Maguuma, it’s pretty amusing. If they transfer from your server then they’re deserters, if they transfer from servers you’ve fought before, they’re butthurt guilds that transferred here just so they could beat you. Give it a rest.
Why should Maguuma care about winning? This is an actual question. Please outline why getting a higher score is a good thing for Maguuma.
Kind of an odd question if you ask me. Why play if not to win? But then, as I said different people enjoy different things. (shrug)
It’s the people who really really care about winning that bandwagon onto winning servers. If winning is a requirement to having fun for you, then I feel sorry for you (not you in particular, really just anyone). Maguuma has only won twice and we would have all ragequit or transferred away by now if we cared about winning, but I haven’t heard of a mass guild exodus from Maguuma yet, so I think we’re doing something right. Winning gives you a certain validation (that it really shouldn’t, in many cases), so there’s that, but I think we can live without it.
Oh, I probably know who you mean then. Interesting. But we’re still suffering from a big drop in participation. Heck, even I’m getting a little bored. Didn’t do much WvW yesterday aside from fulfilling dailies.
Nothing, I find it comical one of the “skilled” guilds on Maguuma is only a transfer (who will probably leave IF you start losing a lot), and coincidentally originally from Ehmry Bay.
If you’re saying that they aren’t a challenge because they’ll probably leave if we start losing a lot, then that’s one thing. Otherwise, I don’t get it. But I think they knew what they were getting into when they came here, we’ve only won two matches so far.

They don’t do it so people can’t message thieves after they get owned in two hits about how they have no skill yadda yadda. Not that I really agree, but I don’t see why else they would go out of their way to hide names.
