Guild Wars 2

I started getting these error reports whenever I try to login to the game now. The launcher opens fine, its only when I click log in that this happens. I’ve tried repairing the game files multiple times now, but to no avail. I don’t know whats wrong, maybe my computer is out of memory? It just seems weird since it randomly started doing this, I haven’t been able to play the game for a few days now because of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: tried logging in for the first time in a few days, randomly works again. Only thing I did in that period was update a couple of my drivers, so that must have been it.

Client crashes?

Just got a queue pop, ok lets go, load into the map, just before the wheel finishes spinning client crashes, i think okay thats weird but try to quickly get back in so i can play the match. Log in, hit play on my character, load screen for HotM, then the match, everythings good, then same thing, client randomly crashes. I do this 3 more times, and every time right before the loading screen for the match is done the entire client crashes and i have to reopen the Gw2 application. Mind you, in the brief lag that sometimes happens when you leave a match and come back in, that brief period where it first loads you into HotM and then the actual match, i could see my character. Idk whats going on, what gives?

Elixir gun 5,4. Elixir b. 20 out of every 32s can have retaliation up, and that’s if you’re lazy with EG and timing. This with the toughness stacking, adaptive armor, alchemy/elixir cleanses, and hgh might, makes this build able to wade into nodes, dish condi to multiple targets, and get out the other side to turn and cover with secondaries. Your heals come from keeping elixir b on cd, drink/throw h, and both stun breaks regen. And again, if you stay on top of EG combo you get another regeneration and retaliation on top of dmg and an escape.

The way you worded that it sounded like you were comparing this build against thieves who spam retal, which is very strange because thieves have no access to retal.

Are you mad because you think they are underpowered or overpowered? Because if you think rev is underpowered all i can tell you is to get good and learn the class better. In this weeks Pro League all the teams had a combined 8 revenats, more than any other class. Scrapper was second with 6. So its definitely not the class thats underpowered.

You need some planning in order to play rev to the highest extent. Yes, you can’t use all your skills with nothing but the cooldown to worry about unlike every other class. You gave Jade Winds and Unrelenting Assualt as an example of something you should be able to do, but cant. Heres the thing. You CAN do that combo, but it requires some planning ahead. You need to pool some energy before you try that combo. Bait some dodges, stack some vuln, wait for prot or frost aura or weakness to fall off, and stack some might while you wait for your energy to pool to at least 65%. Does that mean the class is bad? No, a 3 second stun combined with a big burst is extremely powerful. But you have to play smart. If you do this you’ll notice that you just got a lot better not just at rev, but at the game in general. Swapping legends also instantly gives you 50% of your energy back. To really get the most out of rev and your high-energy costing abilities you should be swapping legends often to make use of that free energy.

Also OP, Jade Winds + Unrelenting Assault is a very poor use of skills, as you completely ignore the evade and chase aspect of UA. Instead when you use Jade Winds just auto attack. You’ll do the same, if not more, damage while stacking vuln and having UA available as a defensive/chase tool.

I would say if you are trying to learn a class it would be better to stick to the metabattle builds, and then start to branch out and figure some stuff out on your own. The meta builds are designed to be the most effective builds possible so you may as well start there.

Nades are a hybrid kit and do well in condi, power, or celestial builds. That said they are a bit tricky to land, especially with someone new to the class. With any build that uses nades you almost always want to run explosives, especially on a condi build to pick up shrapnel. As you wait for queue times practice throwing nades at the target golems first while standing still, then while moving, and then while moving against the moving golem. You should start improving your accuracy.

Turrets are really bad in anywhere but open world pve right now since they changed them to be affected by crits and conditions. Even before that patch they were a bad build and didnt teach you anything about the class.

This is probably one of the simplest builds available to an engineer. Most of the easier and still effective builds will use HGH and elixirs. You stack might with Elixir B, Elixir S, Throw Elixir B, Throw Elixir S, Acid bomb (#4 on Elixir Gun), and Super Elixir (#5 on Elixir Gun). As you stack might people will melt before your eyes. Your key skill is blowtorch, always try and land that, especially after the opponent has used a cleanse. A lot of your survivability comes from the stealth gyro, so be smart about how you position yourself in a fight. Generally open up with pistol #2 to apply poison and also get IP and if youre lucky a few bleed procs from traits. You can then use static shot and follow up with some EG autos. Watch for a cleanse and then try to land a Blowtorch to the face. Spam elixir B on cooldown and the rest use as needed. EG auto is >>> pistol auto, there is literally no reason ever to use the pistol auto attack as the auto on elixir gun both has a longer duration bleed, applies weakness, and has a longer range.

I’ve a few questions from playing around with this build yesterday. I’m struggling to work out exactly what the approach should be when using it.

1) is this build meant to pump out a load of condis? Is the condition damage more of a supplement to direct damage?

2) what are the really good reasons for taking elixir gun and what role should it take?

3) is the build a teamfighting bunker essentially?

I’ve been playing with this build for a few weeks now, so I think I can also share some insight with you.

1. This build is not meant to push out condi bombs. A lot of the conditions you put out are utility conditions that debilitate the enemy in some way rather than causing damage, such as cripple, blind, vuln, weakness, and poison. That said the bleeds, poisons, and burn you put out are a significant amount of damage, but i would still say they are mostly supplementary to your power damage. Think of them as pressure, rather than a main source of damage.

2. The main reason for taking E-gun is its synergy with HGH and the sustain/stunbreak you get with it. Acid bomb and super elixir both count as elixirs now as far as interacting with HGH, so you can stack might while also cleansing a lot of conditions with it. The auto attack is youre only reliable ranged attack and you can spam it to stack bleeds and put permanent weakness on somebody. Elixir gun is especially strong against other celes and bunkers as the poison uptime and weakness uptime (less endurance) are key to outsustaining opponents.

3. This build is excellent in teamfights as you have great support, good CC and damage, great cleave and decent res/stomp potential. You’re extremely tanky and very hard to burst down so in teamfights focus on healing allies with healing turret and elixir gun, cleansing conditions with elixirs and fumigate, cleaving downed bodies with acid bomb and fumigate/hammer skills, and spamming weakness on someone focusing one of your teammates. That said this build is also really great at 1v1s.

The key thing to remember about this build is utilizing rocket charge to the maximum effect. You have a poison field for weakness, 3 different water fields for healing, an ice field for frost armor, a lightning field to chain daze, and 2 light fields for retal. The strongest of these are the healing combos and the daze combos. Frost aura is good in team fights to mitigate some of the random cleave and weakness is better in 1v1s. Elixir shell (which also gets the benefits of HGH) from mortar kit combined with rocket charge is almost like a second heal, and combining it with healing turret can easily heal you from nearly zero-80% hp. You also need to make use of the healing turret f1 while using acid bomb or rocket charge. Using it simply for the regen isnt utilizing the skill to its fullest extent. There have been many times when i am trying to get away from a losing fight and the only reason i survived was dropping a water field at my feet and rocket charging away through the field.

Overall, this build is a lot like a D/D ele. You offer great support to a team through healing, boons, cleansing, downed cleave, and good damage while also having good mobility with about face acid bomb and rocket charge and being a significant threat 1v1 with how tanky you are and youre incredibly high sustain. I have even won several 1v2s due to the amount of aoe pressure you put out and the fact that you can stomp while also cleaving thanks to the function gyro.

True, however I’ve been gone for almost 2 months and wasn’t entirely sure of the state healing and death shroud were in. Do any other heals work while in shroud, other than unholy martyr?

Its been what, 3 months? since everyone has had access to HoM? Whats even wrong with it? Is it that big of a problem that its taken 3 entire months to fix it? Like seriously. I bought GW1 just a few weeks ago and would like to access the skins i have unlocked. I can only imagine the frustration of those who bought it 3 months ago, only to realize after they spent their money on the original game and spent weeks acquiring points that they cant even access the skins they have worked to unlock. Best Server for Roaming? NA

I am currently on the dragonbrand server. While i do not wvw much, this summer i am going to be able to put a lot more hours into the game and want to get back into this game type. The few times that i have recently tried roaming on DB i am constantly getting ganked and zerged down. I honestly do not think i have seen a single solo roamer such as myself in over a month. I have also heard several times that DB is dying, and so i am looking to transfer to a server where there is lots of action, and good, fair fights for everyone. Typically i play most actively during the mid-morning/afternoon and late at night although i can make an effort to be online during any other time if that is the most roaming action is available. So im looking for suggestions. Based on the information provided, which server do you think would be a good fit for me?

Thats not really what i was saying, i meant you could swap to the kit, swap to your weapon, and swap back to the kit with no icd. but i think i did figure it out now, it is something to do with traited nades

i dont mean swapping back to your primary weapon, i mean being in a kit, using the weapon swap key which normally reduces the ICD to swap back into the kit to 0, but now for some reason is keeping the half second ICD that normally happens only when you use the same kit button to stow it

Previously you were able to toggle a kit, and then instead of retoggling it to swap back to your main weapon you could just use the weapon swap key to skip the ICD on swapping back to a kit. However this appears to no longer be working. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Stealth on steal is not even close to being the same as “release blinding powder” on steal.

It may appear that way, but they are not the same.

Look at it this way;

Steal —> BP = Steal --> Hidden Thief + Cloaked in Shadow

except that its not equal to hidden thief + cloaked in shadow, its equal to hidden thief + a blind. cloaked in shadow is a blind everytime you stealth, which is not at all what this trait does

With the meta 6/0/0/4/4 cele engi build obviously you want to run doom sigil, but what do you pair with it? intelligence, battle, leeching, and energy all seem like good options and i cannot decide what would benefit me the most. do certain runes have really good synergy with other runes? like for example if you use battle always use hoelbrak runes, or if you run pack runes intelligence isn needed, or with vampirism always run leeching. pls halp

I really don’t get this anti ascended argument. Ascended is simply the last tier of gear. Why is that any worse then the stat diff between exotic and rare items? It’s as if because it was added later in the game it represents a gear treadmill? So if it was always the last tier or gear from release it would be fine? It is something that can be achieved by anyone if that is their priority. If it’s not a priority then who cares? All aspects of the game can be played effectively with out it. But for those who made it a priority and now have it why take that away? Of course there is a slight bump in stats which is a reward for those who wanted it but not enough to negate anyone else’s ability to play successfully.

Why have any tier of gear why is there grey, white, blue, green, yellow, orange? But have the pink in there and panties start to bunch. Really then if you want to remove pink then just pick one and we will make all gear the same as say green gear. That would make the game pretty boring for some people. And why? All because pink was added later? Crap exotics give a slight increase in stats and I’ll bet everyone try’s to get into all exotics even though the bump is minor. Also compared to crafting rares the cost is significantly higher on exos as well as drop rates much lower.
