You absolutely should be able to take a T3 structure with 5 or less if it’s undefended.
1 smart defender in a t3 structure can hold off 5 players for hours. Blobbing shouldn’t be the only way to play wvw, that is a big part of why wvw is in such a kittenty unbalanced place.

How should he do it? He can’t build siege on his own which isn’t easily destroyed by the attackers. The walls are easier to attack from below than defendable from above.

And no, you should not take an unguarded keep with 5 people. Taking a keep isn’t 5 player content. It’s content for large groups. And Anet shouldn’t make wvw even more rewarding for small groups. It already is rewarding enough running roaming groups.

He is still right to a certain point. You shouldn’t be able to take a t3 structure with 5 people or less. And yes, I know that sucks when you are the only 5 people running on your borderland.
Still I think the spy balloon is too strong and I think it should be taken out.
What I would change is the auto upgrade of towers and keeps. Make it like it was before and give guilds or players the options to upgrade and opponents better options to stop upgrades (ie kill yaks and deny supply more easy)

You do realize this is SEA prime where JQ used to queue 2-3 maps right?

Also there’s a 7 man queue on EBG right now on BG and none on the others on a weekend in SEA prime which says more about how ded gaem it is than anything else.

2014 should not be the reason for balancing today or do you think otherwise?

To the facts from saturday.
JQ had no queues in OCX, SEA and EU and a 22 queue for EB, 7 for JQ bl on NA (east coast 21:00 hours)
BG had queues in all those timezones, the highest I have seen was on SEA with 52 for EB and 33 on BG bl (while both other bl had smaller queues)
TC had a large queue for EB in EU and NA (and smaller for the bl) and smaller to none in the other timezones.

On which facts is the “JQ has more population than BG” based?
Without knowing how they count population it’s not smart to state anything.

In my opinion it’s a bad system that counts people who get into wvw and take a camp, kill a sentry for daily and leave afterwards as wvw population instead of checking things like “time spent in wvw per week” or “timezone participation over four weeks”.

You are as guilty as Anet. There was a good tier 1 balance until you and your friends started recruiting players for your stupid YB project. You destroyed the communities on BG, TC and JQ and took players from all three servers to get YB into tier 1.
After that project failed you started the same stupid thing on TC while your YB creation destroyed not only tier 1 but tier 2.

An Alternative to New Worlds

Split up BG or start a wvw season with reducing the player numbers per borderland.

Anet and the players created a mega server with as many “sleeping” wvw population as an active one.
With starting an wvw season the whole sleeping population would start playing again and queue times would be so ridiculous that players who want to play the season had to transfer to other servers.

the alternative is to split up BG into three separate servers or offer free transfers away from BG before closing the server entirely.
While at it, control the transfers to avoid stacking another server like BG.

My friends and I are thinking about moving to JQ. We are from the EU and were wondering if there were some EU guilds that we could play with.

JQ doesn’t have pure EU guild. There are some NA guilds which have EU players and three of my friends still play on JQ. SF or SG and some SEA players still playing in EU timezone.
Meanwhile EU has commanders from TW running at EU.

Basically JQ EU is about 25-30 players with NA commanders.

You still can kill a warrior. You just need a root after his resistance wears off. That’s impossible when fighting thieves.

As stated before. It’s not fun fighting thieves and it’s always the same kind of combat were you always play defensive because the thief dictates the fight.
That’s different against warriors, mesmers (except for pu) or even rangers.

I really hope if there is another GW2 expac that they completely rework thieves.

Blizzard invest big money on their core game to turn it into a phenomenon and collect bigger in the end.

“We moved for fights”. That’s why most guilds stacki in already full timezones. Biggest lie on gw2.
If you move for a fight your transfer target are heavily underpopulated servers, not tier 1 or tier 2, but at least you are honest about "Alot of us who transferred alot didn’t give a crap about the state of wvw "

The only real broken thing in wvw roaming is thieves. Condi, perma evade, paired with stealth, condi cleanse, etc.
It’s not fun to fight them at all. They either run and reset 10 times or they condi bomb you while being impossible to hit.

It’s easy to solve. When you have a week were you end up fighting BG just take the week off. Don’t fight them, let them keep every single tower, keep and camp in their color until people start transfering off.

How can JQ have gained “plenty of roamers” with the server being locked for month?
JQ lost SoX to Mag and KEK left for don’t know where. The server isn’t full in wvw. You have no queues on any map but EB on reset NA. You have no players on EU, OCX and no queues on SEA while the SEA group has 20-40 players per day for one map.

How is that less than TC, Mag or FA can bring?

But yeah, “plenty of roamers”.
The bored 20 people on a borderland that normally stick to a pin go roaming, because they want to play wvw. That’s not a gain, that’s a shift in options available to them.

The best thing that could happen to WvW is that they use the same templates used in pvp. So, no food, no special stats.
If you want wvw balanced for roaming and gvg that is the only way it will work.

I said it about a year ago. The costs should go up the more transfers you do. If you want to transfer and it costs 500 gems first time, your next transfer will be 1000 gems, the next one 2000 etc. The transfer costs would be set to the lower stage when you are not transfering for 6 month.
I don’t see a huge problem with that. Just more money for Anet for people that transfer all the time.

That’s assuming someone wants to pay $100 real life money to transfer servers one day… I think Anet rather make that same $100 and more with microtransactions from a happy player than lose players from an absurd cost like that.

Keep in mind people transfer for lots of reasons, not just to win/bandwagon. Plenty of WvW focused guilds are paying for guild members to be on guest servers until free spots open up, others might like playing with friends and have a similar situation or maybe it could be as simple as following the fights, one week it’s populated, next it’s not, so why not transfer?

You can’t make players happy. End of the story. People mainly transfer for joining a winning team. That’s what the majority does. That’s how NA wvw always worked and that’s the reason wvw is getting less attractive.

If you want to join a guild, join their server. There is not a single reason to transfer off again or transfer elsewhere except the guild is typical “follow the bandwagon – guild”. In that case you need to decide if you want to do that and pay lots of gems or if you find another guild that doesn’t make to transfer away every month.

This transfers are the reason that the fights are bad. Always was the case. It’s guilds that don’t want to invest time in community building and instead do their own thing on a server. Why was EU tier 1 more entertaining all the years? Because they don’t bandwagon from server a to b to c and back to e before going to a again. They had good fights. In NA tier 1 you have a server with a huge NA population and everyone and their mom and whole family transfers there. And in the end they complain about no one is fighting, same goes for the other timezones.
Arenanet shouldn’t let the whiny bunch decide how to transfer they should make transfers an one time option not a thing you do weekly because you feel like.

The players won’t change if you don’t give them a reason to change and the main reason to change your behaviour are stricter rules.

MMR provides relative indication of a players skill.

I can’t.
It could if it would be resetted every season and if it would allow to differentiate solo and group players.
MMR makes no sense when you lose mmr while getting stomped by a group of 2,3,4 or 5 and it makes no sense when you carry that mmr from a bad season like s2 or s3 into the new season.

Account 1 (HoT and played since early access):
Games played: 230
Games won: 82
Division: Ruby
Biggest streak: 26 losses in a row

Account 2 (f2p and new):
Games played: 87
Games won: 59
Division: Diamond
Biggest streak: 11 victories in arow

If you ever get into a big losing or winning streak you will be most likely stay there forever. After losing 5 matches in a row on the end of Sapphire my team mates got worse every match. I checked some screens I took after matches (about 20). Most losses were because people afk’ed right at start even before the first fight, 3 or 4 people running to far base and staying there most of the match fighting off a single enemy or my team faced a full group while we had a group of 2 or my team was a group of 4 with 2 people on amber/emerald.

Won’t participate in S4 when the system stays that way. Most likely I will stop playing and go back to SW:ToR or WoW.

We all know the system is bad, but it’s still missing penalties for being a kitten. There should be bans for afk or refusing to fight. With long ranked suspensions most people would at least try to play even with 100 points behind.
Without bans for such behaviour most people seem to think it’s ok to blow a match.

Oh, and of course, we can’t forget the Current peak of toxicity infesting ranked matches when the winning team gives you the mandatory #Rabbit. Suggesting you are not even familiar with pvp. Just more of that great GW2 community everyone hyped me up for when I started to really try for pvp this season.

The community was much better than that until Anet started with that esports thing. The fact that something is labeled esports attracts idiots like nothing else. And with missing a ban system for bad behaviour the whole thing went down the tubes fast.

So you are saying people should get a legendary backpiece just for showing up to PvP and doing well at PvP shouldnt matter. That type of thinking is just sad.

Thats like saying you should get a raise at work just for showing up even though you are doing a bad job.

If you compare work and a game you don’t expect to be taken serious in this discussion, do you?
Most of the players will get the legendary backpiece. That’s the key of those achievements. They were introduced to get more people into pvp not to reward a minority of players.
They introduced reward tracks for the same reason. They want people to play that part not for some “elitist thinking contest reward”.

To get back to your comparison. If you work, you get paid for showing up, not for the quality of your work. Your employer expects you to be at work in time and do the work you have to. You won’t get paid better because you finished one hour early.

I was on a 22 loss streak on my alt while being on a 12 win streak on my main. What does this tell me? Right, my skill is based on which account I log into.
I could live with a win/loss/win/loss series, but getting into matches where at least one player goes afk at the start or diamond matches with a 3 people group on my side which has 1 diamond, 1 sapphire and 1 emerald makes me want to quit this game.

Your “insightful” question is nonsense and I hope you know it. There is always 1-2 players that carry 3-4 not that good players. If this wouldnt be the case every match would be a draw.
In S1 more people got into higher divisions, the matches weren’t totally one-sided and you could grind your way up. In the end most of the players ended up in the last 3 divisions and had at least fun matches. That’s why the queue times weren’t terrible. You could even play for fun in ranked or try to get better because you had team mates that could teach you a thing or two.
In the system in S2 and S3 there is no fun. People get teamed either with all good or all bad players. You lose your matches by a large margin or win by a large margin. You either have a long win streak or a long losing streak. That’s not fun, you learn nothing and you can’t “carry” people in your team.
Even if two really good players end up in a team of three bad ones, they won’t win the match in most of the cases.
That’s why the majority stops playing or go afk in matches to get at least some stupid achievements. I never had queue times above 6 minutes before Season 2.

The only reason to play pvp for most players is that achievement kitten, before the backpack less people played pvp but the queue times weren’t that long.

I really don’t know if you need to be rewarded for playing pvp. I pvp for years and never did it for a reward. I was happy when I had good matches and I had tons of good matches before this season failure in this game.
