Making a game good for the 1% on top is surely the best way to improve.
Yeah, they should give you something for being on top, but the waiting times are your own responsibility. It was “the top players” crying in season 1 that the system is kitten and stuff and that it takes forever to get into legendary again, yadda yadda.
You won’t get new blood into legendary, because a kitten ton of players are stuck in diamond on losing streaks vs legendary players. So, deal with your kittenty queue times, while everyone else deals with the unbalanced matches the new system forces upon us and finally quits the game.

To answer the question Will i forever lose?

If you are on a losing streak, it will most likely last forever if you are not able to carry the four other players on your team and get to a mmr region were the system puts you into groups with good players.
The more matches you lose, the worse your team mates will be. The more matches you win, the better your team mates will be.

Yes, we all know the system is broken beyond repair, but you still can stop playing and hoping that the queue times get that high that even more players leave and Anet finally notices that something is wrong.

The only issue I have with the gyro stomp is the fact that it totally ignores mesmer downstate clone or thieves port or any downstate skill that can at least bring you some seconds to survive.

yeah, and every class has a block or reflect on their build, right? That’s like saying “Conditions are fine, because Diamond Skin”.
Unload deals too much damage for a single skill that you can’t even LoS. If pvp was a 1v1, it could be ok, but that isn’t the case.

+18k damage to a guardian from unload while stunned by basilisk venom.
And he/she still have all dodges/evades.
Not broken at all, other classes are just too weak.

Don’t mention P/P to thieves. They get crazy.

This pretty much sums up what we all think of qq.

I beat one of those QQ guys at a camp one cool nice evening. Then proceeded to get blasted with whispers that I needed to stop playing necro and wells are trash, staff was stupid, dagger immobilize shouldn’t be in the game, and war horn cripples are OP.

Reading comprehension is hard, I know.
They don’t have to. It even happens with a good internet connection. It’s mainly because of evade part of thief skills.

Rush: charges and deals damage – you still can be rooted, slowed and won’t evade while using it
most thief skills: charges or jumps, deals damage and has an evade on it.

That’s the main problem with evade builds and why should thieves get this advantage over any other class?

As said above:

- solo queue should never meet groups, not even groups of two
- MMR has to be full reset every season. Let the few players on top whine about it. The majority will want those resets – so don’t cater the 1% of the playerbase, but the 99%. They still can have their esports going
- start with the losing tiers in Emerald and start with losing divisions in Sapphire
- rework the mmr system to fair teams, not good vs bad team. It worked before seasons started. I almost never had full blowout matches before season 2. pvp was much more enjoyable then

You obviously never played warrior. With my ping on NA (about 150ms or on a bad day about 200) most of my skills e.g. Rush, Shield Bash or Blade Trail are impossible to hit a evade thief. These skill aren’t even reliable on EU servers were my pings are about 30ms.
It’s ok to miss when people dodge, but binding damage skills to high mobility and evade it’s a class design flaw.
Thief has by far too many evades, dodges and ports (partially) paired with high damage. The only option you actually have to play against thieves is bunker.

My ratio dropped from 60% wins before season 1 to below 45%. I haven’t played season 1, made about 60 games in season 2 and have about 200 games now. I made it into the last pips of ruby but I’m stuck there since. I win 2-3 games, lose 5-10, win again.. and my ratio goes down further

Because everyone playing has a ping between 20ms and 40ms. After that it will be pretty hard to time.

A thief will take your dodge and raise you another dodge!

No, people don’t play bunkers strictly because of thieves. They’re only part of why. People play bunker because sometimes they have to. It’s their only truly viable spec for top play. Another reason they have to is because the damage going out is stupid high. Thieves are part of that high damage. One more reason is because they can spec bunker while still doing ridiculous damage. Looking at your Scrappers.

If thief damage wasn’t so ridiculously high, there wouldn’t be fewer bunkers because other professions still deal ridiculously high damage, through either power, condition or both. Nerf damage, and you’ll run into season 1. Nerf defence and you’ll run into a high damage meta. Nerf both and you get balance. People won’t do too much damage or have too much defence. That’s balance. Everything being OP isn’t real balance. It’s chaos masked as balance.

My point: damage is too high, and so we need high defence builds. But defence is also too high, and so we need high damage builds. You won’t win without moderation.

I’m mostly with you, but have to add that Thieves are the “only” high burst class left – at least if we talk about being viable in pvp.
Every other high burst (aka class cannon) class or build was nerfed or will be destroyed by the sheer number of conditions and aoe. Thieves die too, but have a lot of more options to avoid damage, reset combat or leave the area and with this they “decide where to combat and how” which is why they are pretty strong.

Anet finally needs to rework the whole system thieves work. There is no high risk, but high reward. It’s more obvious in wvw than in spvp. In spvp you bring the bunker in wvw you just leave.

Maybe pvp isn’t for you then. I go into pvp for pvp, not for pips. That’s why I don’t afk if a match is bad.
“look, all the cool guys in legendary go afk” isn’t a valid argument. That just shows what happened to the community. You play only, when things go your way. As I said before “you lose a match, because your team mates are idiots” but going afk makes you one of these idiots and you should be punished as leavers are.
I won a lot of those “100:300 games” this season, because my team got their kitten together and we still won.
Yes, I lost a ton of those matches too, but going afk helps how? Exactly, it doesn’t.

Bunker Ruins the Game

They need to make thief more depending on initiative. HS damage isn’t bound to initiative. It has low costs and it does the same damage whatever initiative points you have left.
You don’t sacrifice your defense by using HS, you still can shadowstep away and your initiative is regenerating fast, you still can dodge, you still can roll away, restealth and everything is on a very small cooldown.
The balance between damage, defense and mobility is really bad. There should be a much higher risk of failing such as other glass cannons. If you jump into combat with a full berserker guardian, you pretty much have one chance of killing something and if you make one slight mistake you end up dead. Thief is much more forgiving.

There is a reason why thief is the #1 roaming class in wvw since beta. It’s mobility, damage, the low risk gameplay and the option to reset fights at will.
It’s not that bad in spvp, but thieves are the reasons we had bunker builds in this game. There were other high burst classes, but they all got hit by the nerf hammer one day, only thieves are allowed to exist in that niche

Legitimate reason: toilet.
Anything else is just an excuse to not want to play a game. You still can leave the game if you think your team is bad or players are bad or anything else.

Take away dishonor and I bet you’ll see many of the afkers just flat out leave.

But really the childish self entitlement that people on these forums feel, about trapping players into matches they know is a lost cause is very funny and sad at the same time.

I say it again, you have the right to force players into failcade matches as such. So players that get forced into said matches have the right to not give their all( typing the middle mouse button and running right into mid to insta die like the rest of your team was anyways.)

If you can’t stomach such a fact that even ANet has then kitten fool I feel very sorry you domesticated fool.

Then don’t play pvp. PvP is often one-sided. In every pvp game that is out there. You win some, you lose some. You have good team mates or bad ones. If you have bad ones, why should you be able to leave without being penalized for that?
By being afk or leaving you destroy every slight chance of your team to maybe make it at least a good game or even win in the end.
Why? Because it’s your inflated ego telling you “we lost the first fight and I DID SO WELL, while my team sucks”.
And yes, you should be punished for throwing games, as you should be punished for bad language. In any game outside the internet, your team would kick you out for such behaviour. On the internet it’s ok? No, you behave like an idiot, you will be treated like one.

Yes, the mmr system in GW2 is terrible. You know that. If you know that and want to deal with it, go and play and play to win. If you don’t want to play games were you get stomped, play something else but stay away from ranked.

Pretty much this. You can’t nerf bunkers without taking either thieves endless mobility or nerf the damage they put out. The combination from blind, high burst and shadowstepping over the map while still be great for 1v1 makes bunkers the only worth counter.

It’s nothing ANet can do anything about. PvP is a toxic community. There’s a lot of kittens out there like this and they tend to kitten off people to the point of making them into kittens too. The best you can do is shrug it off, and just focus on what you can control.

Sure they can do. Just give the option to vote players for being afk. After being voted you get a 1 hour ban. Make this ban stack. Problem solved.

It is ok for eles to be unkillable because they don’t have any other viable playstyle. If they take away the only thing that works, eles will have nothing to go to.

It would still improve the game.
Warrior wasn’t viable last season. Nobody cared. If Ele isn’t viable a whole season no one will care either.

Ele is too strong on the conquest map and it’s very strong in team fights. At least the conquest map thing needs a big overhaul.

Ele is killable. It still needs to be nerfed.
A conquest map with an ele is stupid. With two ele it’s not even pvp anymore.

The healing from ele to npc needs to be fixed. An ele shouldn’t be able to keep the door breakers or champion healed against two defenders and it shouldn’t be easier when a second ele comes into play.
It’s just cheesy gameplay.

GS5 is still bad if your ping isn’t ideal. You end up charging somewhere while your target went elsewhere.
Even with a good 80ms (from EU to NA) it’s unreliable as hell.

Why touch the runes. Just fix the condition damage. Cap it for wvw on a % of hp of the target.
Roaming has gotten to a point of no fun.
Stealth is still too strong in wvw. It finally needs a rework that goes beyond “bring anti-stealth traps”. Yes, you should be able to stealth and to reset a fight – but only once, not twice in a minute. There has to be a high risk to die.
Condition builds are fire and forget now. You easily apply 10 conditions in the first two hits while every power build has to deal with obstructed, out of range and positioning.
That’s not fun at all, neither is it fair.

Why is it always the us ladder complaining btw?

Because the NA servers haven’t one exclusive timezone to play?
On EU most maps are dead after 0400 (4 am) and people get online earliest at 0800 again.

On NA servers you have a 24 hour queue because of EU, NA/SA, SEA and OCX players.

Just give less rewards to EotM. And give better rewards to wvw. EotM is basically the same as any other pve karma train while it’s much more rewarding then normal wvw with less effort.
Keep it for those who love it, but make wvw more attractive with more loot, badges and a good way to spent them and reward tracks.

That’s a good suggestion. EotM should either only be active for worlds having a queue on all wvw borderlands or be a once a week event.
It’s popular because it’s a constant karma train without to have to fight for. It’s like playing silverwastes for wvw rewards. That’s ok if it doesn’t hurt the main game mode, but it does and so there should be a change.

It would be great if we could talk about facts. SM fight went on for about three hours from very early NA (very late EU) into normal NA time.
And it was YB and BG going for SM and all walls were down while YB tried to get into south inner and BG into north inner. Both gates were down and most of the siege too.
So, saying “they were sitting on siege” is more than stupid. There were a lot of fights inside SM going on.

That’s not what YB normally does or what the siege loving of YB is about.
If it was YB’s SM, they would have left as the inner gates went down to jump to JQ or BG bl to get some stuff or had sieged up 2nd floor.

I won 90% of my games trolling on warrior Diamond Tier1 3/4 to legendary, then again from legendary to halfway to Prestige 2. Warrior isn’t 100% rubbish but yes they could use a few buffs.

Actually there’s only few classes that can play as a condi damage class..

That’s why 90% of the teams are condi classes?

I haven’t had a match for days without at least 3 people are condi necros, mesmer or any other build with heavy conditions.

Why is that the case?
Because it’s stupidly easy to apply conditions on random foes around you. It’s easy, it’s doesn’t need much skill and it’s mostly aoe. That’s just not good gameplay (same with guardian traps and engineer gyros).

Either this game needs a really good counter to condition pressure – vitality does not help – or conditions got to be nerfed to a point that they are either single target (you can only apply a condition to 1 target or it falls off, when you target someone new) or deal less damage

Ah yes, i forgot… it’s because they were lucky every single time to be placed in the “winning team”, right?

If you are in sapphire and you lose 30 games in a row you do not belong in sapphire thats how it is. Unfortunately you cannot drop divisions, which is something that needs to change.

Many of that players go as groups and some of them experience exactly the same. I’ve seen Leeto crying a lot about his team in diamond lately, because of his team mates.
