I stopped playing wvw after all these years because the “big patch” is nothing but another timesink. I don’t want to grind pips every week without having to option to pause for some days and losing all progress.
With the patch wvw has gotten worse than it was before. It’s great that more people are playing, but the quality of the game has suffered. Most fights are bad, roaming has gotten worse and it seems most people just going pip farming.
It’s like EotM karma trains on a 24/7 schedule.

Necro can hold points and kill quite a few classes 1v1. Mesmer, warrior, guard are all ones you should be able to kill.

No chance you kill a mesmer on a necro if the mesmer isn’t stupid enough to play power and bad.

No Loyalty Bonus

I would not keep the loyalty bonus as it is now. It makes no sense to punish people that can’t play a week, but it makes sense to punish people who transfer servers every few month.

I’d give people for every 6 month they have stayed on a server bonus loyalty pips (3-5-7-10-15). If you have transfered recently, you get none of this, but you still get the normal ones.
If you can’t or don’t play a week, your progress wouldn’t be lost.

The actual system seems not well designed to me.

So, it’ s ok for any class to have a build that’s easy to access and which can is viable for solo queue, but necro shouldn’t have that option?

Have you forgot eles? Or thieves? Those have to rely on teammates.

Thief relies on teammates how? You have the options to pick the fights on a thief, if a fight goes bad you cross the map in the third of the time and try to help in teamfights or uncap elsewhere and no one catches you. Still you can 1v1 many classes on a thief even if you are designed for decaps. Nobody needs to babysit a thief, while a necro needs constant babysitting and won’t escape any bad situation.
Ele is in a similar position as necro, yes. But ele is a support class that can decide a teamfight when the ele player is good. So it’s in the hands of the ele – that’s the difference to necro. Even if you are good necro, you still rely on your team to support you to be useful.

And I really don’t understand how a thief player is coming in here to put his class into a “bad spot”. Thief was one of the top three classes in the last 3-4 seasons. And it will be in a top spot again in S7.

As a commander I understand how important roamers are or can be but there are different types and honestly I don’t know how a system would distinguish between wvw useful roamers and less useful ones.

The same goes for zergs. You can be the most useless guy in the whole zerg (i.e. Ranger) and still get a lot more ranks than any good roamer. You could be farming ranks on eotm for a year and have higher rank than any good commander out there.

So, your statement isn’t exclusive to roamers and so it shouldn’t handicap them.

With any build I tried the last few weeks it’s impossible to win a 1v1 vs equal skilled opponents (without losing any option to help your team in team fights), but if I jump on a guardian or a thief (classes I have played less than 100 matches with – over 1200 on necro), i can dominate these situations.

Sorry, that’s ridiculous. There is a season starting next week and the majority of the players will solo queue and most teams won’t care if you are a necro and depend heavily on support, they will just let you die.

As mentioned before. The majority of serious wvw players will never have this armor before the game is dead if Anet doesn’t change stuff.
Why? Yes, there are many people that are above rank 2000. But there is huge number of dedicated wvw players that isn’t. And even if you are above that required rank you have to farm skirmishing tickets and materials (Leather, Ore, Cloth, <Vial of Might> and <Vial of Magic>) for three tiers of the armor.
Sure, you can buy the materials from BLTC, but it will cost you a fortune.

What this means is that nobody will go through this grind, which may easily take you another 12-15 month without really good changes to the whole wvw system.
Anet put a carrot on a stick for those that want something special and still can’t get enough of poundin their heads against gates or blobbing over smaller groups for participation.
If you are below that rank 2000 there is not a single reason to work for that rewards, you won’t see them before the game is finally dead.

As long as Anet does not come up with a great plan to improve wvw and soon tell us about it the whole patch was just a bait for those you still have hope for the game mode.

That’s a ridiculous thing to say when McKenna has just given you information two posts up.

Maybe it’s not as prompt as you’d like, but you sure as hell didn’t have to figure that out for yourself.

Someone posted it on bug forum. That’s why there was an answer. Why isn’t there any patch notes when they put out a “major” wvw patch?

There was no info about how to get the armor, what requirements, and how the loyalty rewards work, etc.
That’s just lazy compared to other companies where developers often talk to their playerbase.
The wvw playerbase is ignored since the HoT release and now we have to ask for every single detail?

What I’ll never get is that you Anet guys are terrible at giving informations to your player base.
You tell us about a new patch one week prior to it. And don’t even give us interesting details when the patch hits.

The problem with the rank isn’t dedication. It’s a flawed idea. Most people on high ranks are either people that karma trained edge of the mists, people that have a guild zerg on a regular basis or roamers who run from camp to camp and avoid most of the fights. There is no rewarding if you did a lot of scouting, sieging up structures or roamed for 1-2 hours per day with not permanently flipping camps but fighting other roaming groups. All that is a part of wvw and always was.
I don’t see a reason to limit stuff with a wvw rank when you still have to grind for month for the rest of the stuff.
The pvp legendary was a grind but not as stupid as this one and it was locked behind pvp rank 20 while they handed ascended out for another grind.

And while we are at it. Which improvement has wvw gotten with this “wvw patch”? It’s a big karma train like eotm nothing more.

Based on the roaming happening in the last two years it’s not much different from zerg vs. zerg. It’s all about who has the bigger group to gank the smaller one. So, no updates needed.

Running around in unranked does not count as “overpowered”. I have matches i completely dominate on necro because the enemy team is a bunch of pve’rs doing dailies on their bear bow ranger.
If you end against a team with people who know what to do your “necro is overpowered goes right out the window”.
You rely heavily on group support on necro, you always did and you do even more after the recent patch.

Ok, i take the troll bait, because I played WoW a lot and for pvp only. There wasn’t a single pvp season with no terrible pvp balancing in WoW.
Even now it’s just a “don’t try to catch the druid” and wait for the melee to instagib you. That’s why the playerbase is so small.

And for your complaints.
Your team mates in GW2 can cleanse your conditions, you have stun breakers, you can get immune to condition damage. You may start to learn to game before complaining.

And while WoW was dead at birth with their esports idea, GW2 at least had an ESL season. Go figure. (besides: Esports in an MMORPG always was the stupidest of ideas ever)

Chaba obviously has missed the garrison fights before and in the seasons with completely invisible zergs and a never ending skill lag that extended from one garrison into all borderlands. And nope the numbers weren’t much different than today, you just had all maps queued.

Roaming is dead since 2013. Today you only find a lot of bad players, playing the most overpowered builds and stacking with other bad players that either run on equal numbers or kill you when they outnumber you.

With the options from sigils, runes and ascended gear everything went to kitten. Anet should shut down wvw for good. It’s using up precious server performance they could use for pve.

Necromancer skills in PVP is poor

Power necro is in a really sad state. You are basically a glass cannon, that can’t deal damage when compared to other professions playing power. There is not a single skill that hits above 5k while you get hits from warrior, ranger, thief or guardian above 9k. While the other mentioned classes have either excellent mobility and/or an invulnerability skill necro only has a 2nd health bar that is need defensively as well as offensively.
You need at least one, better two babysitters in your team to be a useful part of your team.

What has to change:

- give the old axe 3 skill back
- delete plaguelands and bring back plague with either a short invulnerability or the old improved healthpool
- give necros a reflect like warriors have on their shield, maybe on focus or warhorn

- give power classes more rune sets to choose from

What I really don’t get is the crying about condis. There is more resistance in spvp, more condi cleanse and passive reduction of condi damage and still most classes are power based. It’s more likely you get hit by 9k (basically 50% of your hp) by a single hit from a thief, warrior, mesmer or guard with a power build than getting the same damage from condis.
Still people call it a condi meta.

Necromancer

  • Plague (Elite): This skill has been reworked and has been renamed to Plaguelands.
  • Plaguelands: This skill creates a 240-radius corrupted area at the necromancer’s initial location for 10 seconds. After 1 second, it pulses damage and conditions in that area for 9 seconds. Each pulse applies a new condition, and each pulse applies all conditions from every pulse before it. Conditions applied (in order) are: bleeding, poison, torment, vulnerability, cripple, weakness, blind, chill, and burning. Recharge is set to 120 seconds.
  • Epidemic: This ability now fires slow-arcing projectiles from its initial target to up to 5 targets in range. Foes hit by the projectiles gain all conditions from the original Epidemic target. Projectile strikes are unblockable but cannot critically hit. Increased radius to 900.

“Save Yourselves!”: This skill now grants 1.5 seconds of resistance, in addition to the other boons applied.

With even more resistance to share, you have to be pretty bad when getting hit by epidemic.
