ele has very little in the way of reliable ranged damage. fixing scepter could fix this
quipping staff too!
scepter is by no means a range weapon as u have in mind. just that.
scepter is mid to close range and thats actually the exciting part about it.
and pls get water #5 wh right.. watercombofield not shown in info is ok but than dont show area heal on blast which has no condi cleanse effect at all..
would be nice if air #2 would hit at max range and would not be shorter than 900.. or shorten the air aa.. whatever u got wrong there.. aa hits lightning will miss. since forever.

im actually pretty happy with tempest. the potential in more stunbreaks, better condi cleanses and more dmg all in all is very promissing. all it takes is start to think ahead and i think it will be fun to exactly learn that.
biggest issue at start was the lower healthpool with guardstacks gone. next issue the power creep thats goin on. runes and food will offer u stats to ur own preference in terms of getting toughness and vita cause i dont see anymore use in running anti condi food with air-water-temp.
one other big issue with tempest freshair is that u get easily blinded by big numbers and forget about ur defense. protection doesnt come around easily.
classic dd offered u a good frame of what u had to do and when. freshair opened that frame up with mostly one offensiv and one defensiv atunement option with air blind also being defensiv. with tempest u add on that the options to overload for the sake of boons/stunbreaks and/or overload effects.
its very easy to make the wrong choices but it feels so rewarding to do the right ones.
Basically the main dilemma’s im still facing after all this time, is what to take for fire GM and heal. Also the stat spread shifts all the time. I’m still searching for that sweet spot between being obnoxiously hard to kill and abusing staff built-in sustain, and doing as much damage as possible.
check ur video again. u were hard to kill for them. i face same troubles but cant help to think that esp in outmanned fights u should avoid those oneshot combos and give priority to positioning and kiting. may it just that one missing crit that u need that screws ur burst combo and you will stand bare nacked before them. heck even that fatal cleave nearly got u.
whenever i get kitteny im dead and thats exactly the beauty of it that makes it fun to play. im rly looking forward for ur pre hot videos!

this fridays reset and last bw3 footage. tried to show different scenarios. on some you bruise it on some you lose it. learning out of it makes u comin out on top.
i think a lot of tips and tricks to scepter questions are plain wrong and or onesided as it is a very situational weapon and u walk a very slim line between doin it right or wrong. the room for errors is very small, the room for thoughts while fighting aswell which makes it “nonviable” in the eyes of the most. if u find ur flow cause u feel comfortable with it is actually a pretty strong weapon where nearly everything depends on u as the user and not some passivs who will keep u alive in cases u shouldnt kept alive.
i will do more s/x videos as i greatly enjoy the versatility of this set and the times it gives me those moments of truth.
i actually never cried about anything supreme except about buffs to make that class even more casual.
that some classes will steamrole you with it, i found out. yet not all runes and sigills where avaiable. what i fear is the abuse. in ur pvp bubble u will probably dont know the mechanics a teamsetup might offer u but there r allready some very cheesy specs around with perma condi immune qickness and every other buff. perma. add that to air overload.
i dont play pve but from what i know is that they nerfed icebow for a reason.
and i would like to see the numbers balanced around zerk gear instead of cele.
just want to add that i missed out 30% + dmg out out missing asc gear and food. add might to it and u basicly have with a 3 sec loss a perma meteor shower from what we know now dmgwise.
freshair + air overload is too strong. saying as a freshair ele main.
the air aura prog every 10 sec is strong in ist own, the stability for it is ok strong but the dmg out of the overload is plane to much and takes the fight out of the fight..
imo one of the problems is u basicly can not avoid the lightning hits while overloading as Long as u r in range.

vigor rly hits d/x only as u get vigor out of phoenix and were able to stack it to a senseless high duration before.
and i agree with shatterstone. if it hits – in wvw – it hits hard. if not and ppl avoid, they avoid it on my terms on the points i dont wanna see them or to where i want to push them.

i would advice 2 more following things vs thiefs. blind them before their engage on air and only switch air if they re visible and u ve targeted them as air switch burst is one of ur main dmg sources.
ran it for quite some weeks too and its strong. the downside is if u get focused by more than one u either run or die, rangers/range outside of 1v1 in general, conditions despite the healchoice condi pu kills u and there r a lot of em.
still dont get the rod trait as freshair does more dmg + hits more often + u get blind on demand. i do get the air aura trait as it is a passiv defense.
exactly therefor u run cele instead of zerk. to outsustain till u in or out of reach.
cele s/x is fine. ppl complaining over s/x zerk should just ask themselfs why they aint running zerk on dd.

i agree to ur wish of that part. from what i understood u think an harder hitting easy accessible aa would make that come true.
as dx auto hits harder u have to give dx set that that it is melee range. therefore the access to hard fast dmg is countered by the fact that in terms of doing so u can get easily hitted back.
in terms of balancing im plane not a fan of hard range attacks without a drawback.

exactly. being caught up in rotations is also a problem of dx.
therefore to add a more flexibile depth to eleplaystyle i think utilities should give us the chance to do so. the missing variety in rotations is just not a problem of some auto attacks. ofc u would give variation to it if u could camp for example air auto and look at ppl trying to escape like under ranger lb auto. i plane dont think this would add a skillfull variation to our gaming and would be neither balance.

good point. but i see it more an issue of our utility options as it is for most weapon sets the same. even a better elite could do wonders (looking at mortar kit for exampel or chronomancer).. allthough we can feel like very very small chronomancers too soon.

freshair trait is the exact reason why air scepter auto (safe range) shouldnt be high.
instead of the new elite (one skill) we should have get an elite that gives u the same oportunities that freshair gives u as a trait for eatch atunment instead of making it for one skill partywide.
u could ve loged the atunment u want to recharge before eatch fight giving the circumstances u will face. that would have let u chose a role before eatch fight. earth being more tanky with earth line trait. soothing mist gm could have had more sense if u could recharge water etc.. things could have been more interesting as they r now.. even tempest overcharge making it a function of glyphs could have been thought of to take into ur palette instead of one of the usual cantrips..
freshair is appealing for some cause of a more lose and situational rotation. every atunement should have to have that chance. it would have been en par with chronomancer.
an overall new concept utilitywise is missing and not some + on an auto dmg..

scepter works with & without freshair. scepter works as condi weapon aswell (far to good tbh). scepter also works as hybrid.
if u want to have high range auto dmg reroll ranger or go staff.
scepter is fine!
u dont sit on d/x autos either.
i wont support any petition thats based on the need to rely on autos. outside of autos – as said – scepter is fine.

my bad as i forgot u want to run dagger.
last couple of shadowplay minutes in reduced. i basicly ran his build but arc instead of water and with scepter instead of dagger. earth is love esp with focus offhand and is THE hardcounter line for everything. and theres no point in running fire if u run fresh air as the blinds out of it r enough and blinding ashes is jumping the shark.. only valid point i see in running fire is reduced cooldown and an overall desire for more dmg.
i do play a similar build from time to time but would recommand scepter for it as a 20 sec stunbreak still is 20 sec without stunbreak and on scepter u can maintain range + more blinds.
played sd the last couple of weeks. on 50% cele its playstyle is like dd with a range option survivability wise. totally viable. the real fun starts only with zerk/cav.
imo earth is a must as s/d (for either written in stone or stoneheart) . but well everyone as he pleases and goes best with.
solo fire-air-earth or air-earth-water/arc or even earth-water-arc. it all has its good and bads.
i love the playstyle as im maxed out bored of dd’s “usefullness” and i also like to adjust to wvw’s daily flavors.

wasnt a big fan of a warhorn as weapon either but see me using it.
also i see tempest competing with arcana in a fair way + its the missing link for aura builds.
the first grandmaster trait alone is worth the line in itself as it instantly pushes u out of the need to use cantrips..
all in all it looks balanced to me and after reading the forum for the last couple of days i wasnt expecting that..
the 15 sec overload cooldown r a pretty fair timeframe aswell.
outside of aurashare i allways wondered why atunement sweaping give ur party so much but never saw any fitting utilitys that complement that playstyle aswell. now ele gets them.
karl actually did a good job imo in opening up new playstyles maybe even give zerker gear a chance in open pvp while still being focused on making it not stupidly op. i defintly see me running some of it.

since over 2 years in a wvw only guild. our community base is there.
wasnt the talk at start about 12 new ele skills? means whatever comes is mainhand.. warhorn wouldnt bite either focus or dagger offhand.
arcana → grp
earth → better for running solo
would actually be nice to have it that way as u can apply dodge burn before the end of the cast of firegrab.
nope, netko. no lingering elements anymore. actually a pretty big hit for tank/support specs.

pretty much everything was said.
as ele u can pretty much expect to get targeted first for whatever reason.
in ur combo u r getting targeted for being squishier than a warr with his immunes but still visible unlike thief/mes.
i also target eles with healing signet first as their ability to recover from bursts is pretty weak.
so with this knowledge and when u know u get targeted first try everything to avoid that from happening and dropping mistform early could be in some cases a great advice as most burst classes burn out pretty fast after their first one or two attempts. also remember that most ele specs are about sustainability. eles get better as longer the fight continues.
and esp against thiefs dont go down the “defensive rotation” road.. as in that moment the thief unpressured will do whatever he wants to with ur healthbar. ur best friend vs thiefs is negating however their steal combo and land ur few burst skills properly to push them into defense. after that with more followers on ur tail u can kite again but atleast without huge dmg spikes on u. also u can use ur several possibilities to soft or hard cc them to get soem distance and avoid their auto. also and i know how hard it is sometimes try to face them dont present ur back to them. helps a lot.
with thief mesmer on u ur biggest problem is anyway the mesmer (expecting power build here). ur mates must bring him down whatever the costs.
and its also just fine to be the part of ur grp that distracts. its good that u noticed ele do so but instead of being ashamed of it embrace it. u will still bring a lot to the table outside of that.

ah no he wasnt -.- dragon got hit by an orb like thing at left chin but if it was caused by charr or human i cant clearly see.
rewatched pax south vid several times today.
the dragon fighting scene i found strange. tried to riddle what the chaar there was doin which class it might be.. in one frame u see a light armored class behind him swinging a sword the second the charr jumps from left back to right front of the dragon.
i first thought the fire of the scene was the dragons breath but the fit with the sword slash was to perfectly. i rewatched over and over and over and came to conclusion that the first fire breath came from the tiny person behind the dragon and they just blended over to a scene were the dragaon spout fire as he didnt in the scene before.

was never drawn to the cele meta and imo it’s as viable as before atleast in wvw. for me there’s no other class/build that im as attached to as dd ele esp with all the pewpew going on in wvw.
i’m as fast as warri without ports and far faster than somebody without swiftness with only this trait giving me Speed and without boons.. strange.
trait: power shoes -> increased movement Speed while in combat 25%
it`s perma swiftness (+33% Speed) even outside of combat.

played the same build for long and noticed before as i tried to show ppl trickery builds on the german board that u played it too. its viable with pp/sb too.
only one question, y bp instead of sr? nearly same cd but longer stealth on sr where u can w8 up the cd on heal or ress somybody. u doing lyssa like me, so u nearly cant be kicked out of it, if u save it for that.

normally u change 1-3 skills if hiding in somewhere for recapping. its a piece of cake for everyone to beat those thiefs who switched out there combat skills for invis.

sry didnt know it was all the same person. it wasnt a hunt on u or something. in the camp.. well i was waiting and tried to get a stack first ^^. but noticed u are good on staff and i usually dont play dp against other players, take it just for camps. but well as the other ele joined i lost this one stack again in that Moment everything was ok, no rage mode or so ;o) and unload is btw 4-5k and everything else pp got makes no sense on ele. but u can write anet and say to them pp is kittenty, give thiefs better dmg skills on pp, i would be thankfull ;o)
