I think the horns look great with my hellfire shoulders and gloves. No wings needed
The GW1 had its own growing pains at the beginning. It developed and changed over time – adding heroes and dungeons and new skills and mechanics and PvP maps and structure. The game you played to get the 30 HoM points was not the game that we saw from the beginning.
I think GW2 has improved and will continue to improve over time.
This topic doesn’t even make sense. This offering of Tormented weapons is a nod to GW1 players, not a weird backwards way to ignore them. Only those of us who played GW1 would even know what a Tormented weapon is. I played hard to get my Torment items and gleefully squeed when I saw they were being offered in GW2.
Keep in mind that this is a game. If you refer to any part of it as work, then you are doing it wrong.
…But don’t let me touch any of it. Nice. What good is urban combat without looting?
Let me take the moneyz!

Salvage pristine fractal relics into ectos
Proposal overview
Right now there is not too much you can do with pristine relics once you’ve got yourself a nice backpiece and some attunements. Even salvaging to fractal relics isn’t useful if there is nothing the vendor has that you need. I suggest that pristine fractal relics be salvaged to ectos instead, at a one relic to one ecto rate with a small chance for two ectos.
Goal of proposal
Clear out some of these useless pristine fractal relics from people’s banks
Proposal functionality
Users can salvage the pristine relic for ectos using a salvage kit. They should always get one and have a chance to get two.
Risks
It would affect the economy of ectos and prismatic dust.
This proposal is only useful if you don’t already have another pristine fractal relic sink in the works.
GW1 dungeons as fractal content
Proposal Overview
Imagine doing one of the DoA encounters as a fractal! The individual parts are generally short enough and Mallyx could be added as a boss.
Goal of Proposal
Make GW1 fans swoon with glee while introducing newer GW players to some pretty entertaining content
Proposal Functionality
GW2 uses a different engine so you would likely have to remodel, but you would have the design already layed out. Some of the encounters would need to be re-skilled for the new system, but this should be no more difficult than the Ascalonians in the Searing fractal.
Associated Risks
It would be strange to introduce just one of the DoA sections and might be overwhelming to add them all at once. Perhaps add two, then two later, then a Mallyx boss. Unlike the GW1 boss you wouldn’t be earning access to Mallyx by doing the other parts, which might disgruntle some of the more disgruntly (?).

Considering the jetpack was an RNG that only dropped for very few people out of the tens of thousands who played the content, I don’t think bringing it back is unfair at all. Like many others posting here, I was present for the molten content. I played that dungeon over and over and over and never got this drop nor did I get a mini. It should never have been RNG to begin with and I hope they introduce ways to earn it – and all other event rewards.

I will lay down my life to save Meep
ps: the gem store picks/axes/scythes are closer to being pay-to-lose than pay-to-win.
you could spend the same number of gems on gold and buy WAY more of those resources on the TP whereas it would take over a decade of daily harvesting to ever get your money’s worth out of the extra sprockets
But… when sprockets are only obtainable from mining picks, the price will shoot to 50s or more per sprocket, making them so much more valuable… only those players who bought the picks will be able to make money. It’ll pay for itself within the next month, honest! P2Win! !!!!one!one!eleven!
I predict closer to 1 gold per sprocket, since everyone that bought the picks will get together and fix the price by hoarding all of the sprockets in their bank/guild bank and only release so many to the public at a time, creating a false supply of said item.
/tinfoil hat
Except for those of us who earned a watchwork node in our home instances through pure PvE play without spending any gems.
The same self-centered idiots that launched this attack have hit other targets. You can be sure that someone is wheedling their way into this circus and will eventually bring them down. It may take a couple of months.
Any of you who actually have a server (business or home) can help prevent this by disabling monlist or upgrading your NTP server to a version that doesn’t automatically enable monlist.
I will be happy to see those little brats playing “ghosts and charr” silenced, at least for a while. Their 60 second loop makes me homicidal.
I really don’t understand the pick complaints at all. Months ago they released an unlimited pick – a way to save money within the game. Very nice. Now they release a pick that is unlimited and can produce sprockets. Cool. It doesn’t unwind the months you spent knocking out nodes with your unlimited pick. It doesn’t make your unlimited pick useless. It is just a new shiny that some people will spend extra gems on to get sprockets – which can already be pulled from a node in your home instance.
I am looking forward to an upgraded Molten pick that gives Azurite.
I don’t see why it can’t be reset similar to trait points – by paying money to a trainer.
The server balancing is problematic. Anet seems to think we enjoy the variety of fighting a bunch of different servers, but that really isn’t the case. We enjoy fighting against other servers that present a challenge without overwhelming us. If we end up fighting the same two servers over and over that is better than being unbalanced. I have been dominated and have been on the dominating server due to poor balancing. Neither is very much fun.
Can suggestions be created with a semantic tag, similar to Dev posts, so that they can be viewed by players in a central location?
Anet does this on purpose because the Scarlett invasions taught them that people will fail an event to prolong the amount of loot-dropping mobs spawning. We’ve been hoist by our own greed petard

But they did instance Kessex for the Tower of Nightmares introduction and upleveled there.
Teq has not been abandoned, he is killed daily on multiple server by hundreds of players each time. Other than adding some poisonous fish heads to the beach, he hasn’t impacted the ability of players to explore Sparkfly so the claim he has caused the area to be abandoned is suspect. The fact is that some people like Teq and some don’t. Some people will like the new boss and some won’t. People enjoying the new bosses aren’t going to impact your play.
I like the idea of a hard mode for the dungeons. Some of them now are a cakewalk and only done for farming. Increasing the difficulty would add interest and enhance teamwork.
I like SAB as it was – something quirky and different. I would like to see the MOTO story advanced, as long as it remains as light-weight as the rest of the environment. (Only so much gloom and doom a person can take)
I would like to see it addressed that the princess is only MOTO in a wig and dress
I find it entertaining and refreshing that the devs are willing to engage in the community and talk about what they are considering for the future. I don’t consider them promises, though it can get frustrating when teased features don’t come to pass (Shooting Gallery anyone?) It’s clear to me they intended to include this but just couldn’t get it done. It happens. It’s not like they sold the game based on this one feature.
If you really want the devs to clam up and hide behind the walls of Anet, then keep looking at every floated idea as a firm contract and bashing them when they don’t live up to their faux “promises.”
I never played GW1, I dont know who primordus is…or what he is. But he sounds way more kitten and epic than a tiny sylvari. I just couldn’t get around Scarlet as a villain…but I could definately dig some sort of true epic destruction of the world.
The Eye Of The North expansion of GW1 introduced the destroyers, who were led by the Great Destroyer. The Great Destroyer was a champion of Primordus.
Could we get the mail suppression lifted to 4? When in a party I like to share food with my other party members but can’t send to all 4 of them without getting mail suppression.
Also, it would be nice to have a guild leader able to send mail to all members of the guild. Even if this were limited to once per week, it would be helpful. I spent hours this weekend sending Christmas greetings to all my guild members.
I wasted gems on this when it was first offered. I found nothing in there that isn’t available elsewhere.
It seems my point of view is shared by many
1. Flame and Frost was the right way to introduce a LS. It was a build up to a major event – the Molten dungeon. Unfortunately it lasted only 2 weeks then disappeared completely. Newer players will never experience that content, which is a shame.
2. Content is too rushed. I often feel like I am chasing the game rather than playing it. It is fine to introduce content every two weeks as long as it is allowed to persist for 4 weeks or 6 or forever. Mad King, for instance, can still be played and achievements earned even though we are onto new content. Teq and the new TA are permanent, which is great!
3. There is so much lore to draw on in this game that it seems a waste to spend time on Scarlett and her merry minions. She is just too shallow and disconnected from the main plotline.
I would love an invite please – Lillis.9473
Yak’s Bend [NA] has killed him twice
You need to participate in the (succesful) laser defence event to get hp threshold loot.
That’s a pretty horrible criteria. So the people on the turrets got nothing?
I have participated in this several times and gotten him down to below 10% twice and received no reward each time. Once time I was on the turret and one time I was not. Each time I did what was needed for the group so it makes no sense that only people who participate in one tiny part of the event get a reward.
I encounter this when I am running and try to do ANYTHING else, not just pick something up. I get it in jumping puzzles when moving forward and jumping. I have even gotten it in combat when moving and attacking. It has only been happening in the last couple of months for me. It didn’t happen at all for the first few months in game.
MARA is a guild for players 30 years old or older. We are a large, friendly, international alliance about 700 members strong with a presence on Yak’s Bend and Gunnar’s Hold. We do mostly PvE and WvW, though a few members do PvP. If interested, please respond to this thread or check us out at GWMara.com
Anet allowed free world transfers at will when the game opened and their servers didn’t melt. I took advantage of this to play with both EU and NA friends and never experienced lag in either region. It clearly is technically possible for them to allow people to play cross-region. If it costs them extra money to allow cross-region play then they should admit that and place a price on it. The claim that it is not feasible is provably false – they’ve already done it.
I am finding it hard to get the least bit enthused about this update considering that it breaks the back of the international guilds. Is there any plans to fix this glaring error and allow us to actually play with our friends across the world as originally promised?
Dear devs.
Yes its really nice to have guesting. I tried that yesterday just to see how its working.
Well, im really disappointed.
After transfer i noticed i lost ALL guild upgrades and all influence points. Thank you. I got almost all upgraded and i wasted lot of money for licenses. Really good job.
There is no info about it at your website. Why?I want all back. TY
First of all, guesting isn’t in yet. You can still transfer freely (with a week cooldown). So, next week, go back to your old server and all your guild upgrade and influence points are still there. (guesting will be implemented on the 28th, so you better go back before that time).
Second, once guesting is in, you’ll still earn the guild influence for your home server, not for the guesting server. I presume the guild upgrades of your home server will also still count.
TY for your info.
So after 28. all influence from my actuall Home server will be transfered to new server if i stay there? With all guild upgrades ect.?
If yes, im OK wit that.
Sorry, but no. Guild influence is earned and spent per server. If you transfer to a new server, your influence does not go with you. If you merely guest to a new server, then you are still linked to your home server guild and its influence.
You need to transfer back to your original server when possible. After the 28th you will be able to guest out.
What I miss is my fellow guild members.
We were an 8oo member strong international alliance. The region structure of GW2 has split us onto two servers that cannot play together and the member limit has split us into (now) three guilds that cannot talk to each other.
I respectfully believe that this guesting policy is unacceptable. We were told from the beginning that we would be able to guest between worlds without being informed of any region restrictions. We are an international guild and this cuts us right down the middle.
If this is a hard restriction then they would have known about this from the beginning and should have stated early that cross-region guesting would not be an option. They have had plenty of opportunities to do so in this forum, in other forums such as reddit, in media interviews and in teleconferences with international guilds where Anet was present. The international guilds have been vocal about their desire for cross-region guesting and have been led to believe it was coming by Anet’s own language about being able to play with people “a continent away” and by their failure to push back on these widely stated assumptions.
As for the technical reasons listed for doing this, they do not seem to be truthfully insurmountable. It should not be difficult to clone the US user database on the EU server and vice versa. If you don’t wish to clone the whole database, then you could use your current transfer infrastructure and move the record across. The user would be informed that they will be logged out for a few minutes and the record transferred. When they choose to “relinquish” guesting they will be logged out again and the record transferred back. To limit the overhead you could confine people to one international guesting per day. It’s technically feasible and would meet your stated goal of people able to play with their friends, wherever they are.
(edited by shogei.8015)
If you allow someone to copy to another data center for guesting purposes you either have to move the data or copy the data. If you copy the data that means 1 account is taking up twice the space. Multiply that by up to 3 million accounts and that’s an awful lot of wasted space.
As someone who works with large datasets on cloned servers, 3 million account records are chicken scratch. I work with more than that on my desktop as a sample set. Even if their account records are bloated, cloning is feasable.
I have question for all of you unhappy people:
If you have so many friends you want to play with in EU and NA why didn’t you all make accounts in same server when you started playing since time zones are no problem for you?
As part of an international guild I have both NA and EU friends. In GW1 we could play together in the afternoons, US time. In the evenings they were all in bed so I would play with the US. When GW2 opened we did try all playing on a EU server, but the population dropped so dramatically after 9pm ET that some group events became unplayable. In other words, time zones are an issue but we still want the opportunity to play with our European friends when they are on.
Don’t blame ArenaNet for your bad planning of your gameplay. They are doing best they can and maybe one day we will have NA/EU guesting, but till then be happy they are trying. No game is perfect and no matter how great professionals one company has it’s impossible to have everything right away.
This is a great game and time it takes to fix stuff and bring new one is shortest possible. Instead of complaining about everything, be more thankful, because if they didn’t try you would have got no game to play today.
Except they have made no claim that they are “fixing” anything. They promised one thing and have given us another. If they had said international guesting was still being worked on, it wouldn’t be so upsetting. Instead they just bailed on guesting and dumped this imperfect mess on us.

The bug is with targeting in general, not just auto targeting. I try to use Tab targeting , which is supposed to choose the “nearest” target, but almost always chooses the furthest.
Could this explain why I have been running right off the edge of so many jumping puzzles? It seems to be happening a lot lately. I thought I might need a new keyboard.
No minipets in 30 chests.
I found this event boring. I wound have enjoyed it a great deal more if I could enter with my friends rather than a random group of strangers, but even then it is not something that I would spend much time on.
If they keys were permanently at the price they were offered when on sale, then yes. That seems about the right price for what you get out of the chests. At the current price, no way.
