For anyone who has tried to play a melee class outside the US you will understand that your skills and counters don’t always go off in time even though you can telegraph the next move. Ever watched a melee spvp vid of someone from AUS? I haven’t. It’s for good reason, all you would see if a melee did a vid was ‘(chase target)miss, miss, miss, (target stop) hit, (chase target)(pull out ranged weapon)hit,hit,hit’. Classes don’t always play the same everywhere. Watch a thief vid of a US player and you will see how a limited skillset is used to look seriously OP. I have tried to spam on a Thief s/d 3 all I get is ‘miss miss’. Shadow step doesn’t always work. If it’s a melee skill with a cast time, you’re going to miss more then hit.
Personally I only play melee as normally in games ranged classes are stupidly more versatile, easy to be good at, tank better in cloth then someone in heavy armor can. Generally never really have any downsides to them. I like to feel a sense of accomplishment when defeating an easier to play class with their homing projectiles, bulk aoe damage, better heals and tank.
1/2 second cast time coupled with slow and sometimes rubber banding animations add an extra element of difficulty to gameplay as a melee outside of the US. Our only saving grace was quickness, but you nerfed that. It brought us on par with people ping 150-200ms lower then ours. Even if it was for 5 seconds.
Players from the US rarely venture onto AU/NZ fps game server because it really shows how lazy their reaction times are compared to ours. No one likes to get facerolled so they go back to their cushy <50ms. For anyone from AUS that used to play America’s Army back in the early 00’s. Running around with 200-300ms destroying players in the states with <50ms getting called a hacker was a fun time. We could use ‘suppressive fire’ or ‘pre-fire’ to counter our lag. We cannot do this in GW2 as the game mechanics do not allow it. Eventually they released the license to host a server and we could play in AUS. Everyone migrated over and never returned. It was a totally different game, kind of like when anet got rid of horrible culling.
There needs to some sort of compensation in the way of reduction of cast time for melee skills. But make it only for those outside the US, who’s avg response time is 4x, sometimes 8x longer then those inside the US. Make it opt in, link it by the credit card on the account, the origin of the IP, contact mobile number, the route which the packet took, random pings. Permaban those that want to exploit it inside the US. Give people a country icon next to their name to say where they are from.
OR
Lag everyone else out in the game to have the same client/server relationship as those with 200-300ms response time.
OR
Localized servers.
I did not touch on ranged because games like this have homing projectiles.
TL:DR
Response time compensation in spvp for melee classes for those outside the US.
Reduce cast time and/or speed up animations.
OR Lag everyone out to the level of the highest response time.
OR localized servers.
Make it an opt in, need to prove you are from outside the us.
Evening out ping and skill cast time – No game ever addresses the fact that there are players outside the US. Why not have a handicap system for people with higher ping outside the US? Say skill takes 0.5s to cast, ping is 0.25s. Alter skill cast time to 0.25s. It’s sad to see youtube vids from the US where people can chase and still get hits with melee. But we cannot
Australian based spvp server – So we can play GW2 the way it is ment to be played if the above cannot be factored in.
Split que – solo is for solo only. Can get an offer with a warning message that you can accept to enter a 4 man premades team. 2-3 get grouped together. 4-5 man group together before they get grouped with 2-3 and never get grouped with full solo que.
first they need to be able to fix horizontal movement while you are downed underwater, only allow vertical. Then they need to bring in some sort of move like you suggested, strangle move or tying a magical cinder block to their feet so they can’t get to the surface. like rallad said when you are downed underwater your rebreather is removed and the finisher is to hold someone underwater to drown.
No skill lag no ques outside the top tiers.
I have seen pics of the T1-2 zergs no pvp game I have ever played could handle those numbers not even close. You are talking 150+ on screen with hundred more in the zone. I dont know how people could enjoy that kind of fighting even without skill lag.

Ok its like beating a dead horse, but Anet should have limited the amount of ppl per server a lot more harshly. The fact that people stack the T1 servers is the reason you are experiencing this.
If they actually made the game as guild wars not server wars then server stacking wouldn’t be the problem. Let people create independent alliances on a ladder system or sandbox it ffs, there wouldn’t be as much lop sided stacking. They made server wars so they could make money from transfers. It’s a company and they need to make money. Thats while they have continually failed to support the only actual active community that games have, which is pvp, because we don’t spend as much money in the cash shop as pve swarm does. We just have to deal with that.

To those comparing to world event daily chests, you don’t get a guaranteed 20s from those. So weigh it up: a guaranteed rare + less than a silver; vs a chance at a rare + 20s (which is the cost of a rare) + some badges + a siege blueprint (worth from 6s to 1g). We’re getting a a hell of a lot more from these chests than from world events.
You must pve to be able to splash out on prints from a vendor or lucky enough to get a precursor drop. Got them from jumping puzzle and give them to a commander

They are bad, hard counters are nothing more than rock-paper-scissors. Oh you brought a warrior which renders whole traitlines completely nonfunctional on the flimsiest class in the game? Great.
Thieves have shadowsteps on demand on their weapons with zero cooldown. They can teleport to you with mug. If they are in trouble they can run away while stealthed. If they are stupid enough to stand beside me when stealthed then they should drop.
Everyone agrees that the thief class in this game is broken due to repeated stealth during combat -except thief players-.
Stealth will not be addressed directly. I think almost a whole year since the game out with no significant change to stealth kinda shows that.1.) If they are stupid enough to stand by you while stealthed, they will go down… because they aren’t magically immune to damage.
2.) Innitiative (though sword 2 needs a bit of a tweaking in costs) limits your “no cooldown” clause.
3.) The thief has two viable weapon sets, one of which depends on stealth rather heavily and one which depends on the sword’s ability to move all over the place. If you suddenly add a “no stealth for you” clause, the class will be down to all of one spec.-immobilize on crit can have an internal cool down. Not rocket science. Do you check the trait description on various classes?
I didn’t consider the cooldown, fair enough though I question where or how this could be balanced to not be utterly broken at 100% crit.

Thieves steal boons… you don’t say? Perhaps it has something to do with their main class mechanics of stealing things. Necros and mesmers, ala GW1 origins, destroy/convert boons and conditions? Holy kitten! You know what warriors could do against enchantments in GW1? Cry. The era of Blinding Surge in its heyday is a prime example of why hard counters to classes is stupid.
You have to deal with the fact that not every class is meant to do the same exact things.

You’re not a real WvW player, you are just another pve player. Real wvw players don’t go there to make extra cash, quiet the opposite, they spend on various aspects.

Looking for AU/NZ players for tonight. No game of thrones this week so you should be itching to get into some wvw action.
They want to make money of people while they are still in beta. Bit of a cop out. Just don’t put any time on the current servers. All you are doing is funding the next expansion for L2 or Aion. Most probly going to Wildstar, which is where everyone should go soon as they get the chance. Anet doesn’t get the money NC does
The tokens are pretty silly cheap though, I can run CoF five~ish times (1g to 30gems) and have enough for a set of tokens. That literally takes an hour (or less) for 120 hours of CA. Run it with four friends, and in 1 hour you have a months worth of CA.
I honestly didn’t expect it to be that cheap. I wonder how much the kit will cost.
I don’t pve, was mislead that I could only wvw and get the same out of it as a pve focused player could. Need globs to get items and no back piece. Not to mention They added more levels to pve for wxp and more pve infusions for wvw.
The answer to this is still pretty much the same. We really want to make sure that these features are polished before they are fully out of beta. As you can see from the patch notes, we got a good chunk of changes in.
So why are you charging us to play with a test item, why not hand out time as a reward from a tpvp match?

I’d prefer it if they didn’t have the strongest burst in the game on a 10 second cooldown along with invulnerability, I’d also prefer if Phantasmal Duelist didn’t do such nonsensical damage, each shot being a projectile finisher.
But hey, Arenanet is too busy breaking Necromancer with tooltip fixes.

Devon has said in previous posts that they discriminate against the minority. The wvw team can’t implement anything unless they run it through the pve guys first. Kinda sad when this game is called guild wars and not npc wars.

Please don’t give them completely idiotic ideas, it is far too likely that ANet might implement it.
I think they should add a counter trap that stops other traps from being place. Then also another trap that stops the counter trap from being placed.

Overview
It’s been a rough journey from T7 to T8T1* to T8
I think what he’s trying to say is that our fall from T7 to T8 was especially difficult for us, because the only reason we fell was because of a massive hit to our population and we just couldn’t keep up anymore. T1 down to T7 was hard, yes, but we were expecting it. T7 to T8 took us by storm and left us weak, battered, with little reinforcements and a low morale. At least if we get some transfers in we can bolster our forces and hopefully rally all the old HoD-originals to get together and fight the good fight once more. I’d love to head back up to T7 once we get our population a bit more rounded out.
Hard to rally the bandwagon back without winning. Good luck though

If you want to kill several players easily – choose thief, if you want to ride in the middle of zerg, and walk away like nothing happened – choose thief. Man you are out of your mind. This is not question of class specialization, this is matter of insane advantage for one class.
Except that advantage is open to everyone, on every job. Let me show you the stealth and run away option open to all, I actually rerolled my guardian after spending 300+ gold on my old one just for this skill.
