Arent mesmers still used for portals and long range pressure in sPvP? And i wouldnt exactly say mesmer is weak in WvW. You have veil and portal. You might not want stacks of mesmers but they are still a valuable class in all gametypes. And thats all thanks to unique utility.

Doesnt make sense to me. I go D/F if i want an easier time. I used to exclusively D/F in fractals. Now that we run phalanx more i stay staff for most stuff. But D/F is always the fall back build. Lose a little damage, gain a ton of versatility and survivability.

Motivation and drive is more important than schedules. Even if you can only devote a couple of hours a night. Its better to do that with a stable 5 players who will keep trying. Even if it takes a number of days or weeks to get the record.

If you are trying to do records with players that do not have an interest and are not experienced then you probably wont ever get a record you are happy with. If they dont have the drive to try things and improve then you are better of finding others who are. Which sounds like it might be a big issue in your guild.

For coming up with strategies you need players that know the path and classes inside out and can think outside the box. They need to understand all aspects of a speedrun and consider even the smallest details to save seconds such as how many and what blasts to use at certain points. They need to be experienced. And there needs to be discussion of ideas and willingness to try things out which might not work. Having one player direct a bunch of unmotivated newbies for a record sounds like a major headache and an impossible task.

For records you can expect to reset the dungeon more times than you can count. And often spend multiple evenings trying to get a time you are happy with. When I did TA up records we repeated the start up to malrona countless times because of RNG on malronas start attack and the last group of spiders not always pulling properly. The amount of times we repeated the first part of the dungeon far outweighed the times we did a full run (we always completed to the end if malrona went well). We probably did about 10 complete runs until we had one we were happy with. I couldnt possibly count how many fail resets we did.

There is a reason why the top guilds have harsh requirements when recruiting.

Rangers and mesmers are good in PvE. I dont know much about ranger in sPvP or WvW. But mesmers at least have a place in all 3 gametypes.

The biggest gametype is PvE. All classes should be able to atleast contribute to the group on a basic level. Necro can hardly even do that. One of the defining features of GW2 combat is the combo field and finisher system. It promotes team play. But then you have a class which goes against that completely. It doesnt make sense in the slightest. Especially when the class is already considered very selfish by design.

Tree dies so fast you dont need to worry about phalanx warrior. Pre stack might lasts enough. Besides you can take LH instead of wave while on staff eles for the nightmare tree. If you cast LH 4 at the end its pretty big burst aswell. Although some groups kill the tree before you can finish your icebow + meteor shower.

I was more referring to taking a LH build. There is no reason for that anymore. But there are certainly still reasons to slot LH.

I kind of see changing the walls as harder to do. And i can forsee loads of new bugs resulting from it. Such as lupi resetting on the walls aswell as the doors. Besides i think walls should be possible to use to the players advantage. I have no problem with the whole lupi 1 shot thing (its kind of smart). But i admit it is a bit too effective. So i would personally just hope for the projectiles to be moved or nothing done at all.

Another solution would be to cap the amount of reflected projectiles. Any projectile over the cap just gets absorbed instead. Not sure if that would be possible though.

Even in a group that already maxes vuln, glyph of storms brings more. It does more damage and it can be used defensively to protect you from trash mobs with sandstorm. Its not as much AOE burst as an icestorm or meteor shower. But its still pretty significant damage.

Signet of fire is old meta. Noone uses it anymore. There are a few situations it might be worth it. But generally your bar should always be icebow, glyph of storms and arcane wave. And if you are playing LH (dunno why you would since phalanx + staff ele meta) it would be icebow, glyph of storms and LH.

I disagree simply because it will cause the wasting of sigil procs sometimes. We have a weapon swap out of DS so we can fully control when we proc swap sigils. If you make DS work aswell then we could end up wasting procs when forced to go DS. I dont want to proc my energy sigil too early and im sure noone wants to proc a sigil of leeching or renewal while in DS.

The only time DS procing swaps could be an advantage is in builds that camp DS.

The rockets act as though they are your own attacks. So they benefit from might and other buffs.

I gave up pugging as a thief in CM. Try to stealth the group with blasts and noone helps despite their being two eles and it being a “zerk meta” group. If im forced to play like a pug thief and wait for SR cooldown i would rather slit my wrists.

The last time i tried pugging on a thief i thought kitten these guys im blasting. They didnt help so stealth ran out faster. They didnt stack swiftness so they got left behind when i restacked mid skip. I just decided “kitten it” and went ahead. 3 out of 4 of them died because they couldnt keep up. The other guy somehow powered through on a warrior despite never using warhorn or mobility skills…. And then they had the nerve to complain despite not once blasting stealth or giving the group swiftness….

After that ordeal and other similar abominable runs i decided never to pug CM again.

That’s a classic glass half-empty thinking. Yes it’s true necros get focused on because they lack mobility and escapes. Nobody disagrees with this point, I think we all know that’s one of the biggest issues with necros in PvP. But we all know what power necros are capable of if left unchecked.

It’s one of the reasons even in ZvZ I look for necros to down, because I know what they can do to my zerg if left unchecked. The current meta calls for at least 5-6 necros in a zerg/group fight or there’s little chance you’ll win an open field battle.

Unfortunately in smaller scale organized PvP, you have more chance to prioritize your targets (you have to pretty much). You don’t want to leave necros alone, and yes they are an easy target to focus down due to lack of escapes, so they make prime targets.

For the bolded part. The same can be said for any class. If a class is left unchecked it can do some serious damage.

In the case of ZvZ, elementalist does more than a necro. But elementalist is squishier. If left alone the zerg melting potential is far superior to what a necro does. I dont have much recent experience in WvW zergs. What i remember is its ridiculously easy to farm lootbags on a necro because of how durable they are at dealing with unavoidable damage. Im pretty sure thats more of a reason to focus necros in a large scale fight. Because lets be honest. The eles are more dangerous but they melt in seconds.

Its not like eles lack zerg control skills or anything. The only thing they dont have is WoC. But i would take some extra frozen grounds, static fields and unsteady grounds over WoC any day. Especially now that stability can be stripped with CC. Its a GWEN meta not because necros are really good. Its because they have the second best ranged AOE. But if i was to handpick every class in my zerg i would have no problem excluding necros in favour of more eles. GWE meta. :>

I can never accept the comment “necros are in a good place right now”. Its total bull. Necros are fine in WvW. But lets not forget that you have sPvP where necro is only good outside of premade team games. And the largest gametype PvE where its a steaming pile of uselessness..

PvE has a heavy reliance on projectile defence. Not having any is a major disadvantage to the class. Especially when you consider things like orrian turrets in arah, Mai trin, Imbued shaman and just about every trash mob group in the game. :P

Thats only naming a few obvious examples. There are literally projectile attacks everywhere in game. Some which you would not even normally associate as projectile attacks. Yet despite that they can be reflected and blocked with projectile defence. One really obscure example is the grenth wraiths life drain attack in arah p4. There are also melee attacks on some mobs which can be blocked with reflects.

The fix is pretty simple. Just move projectile point of origin to his head. It being on his belly is really convenient considering its the same height as the top of the wall. :P

Thats the only fix people should ask for. Otherwise dont ask for a 1shot fix. Obviously necrid bolt and necrid trap should be reverted. And AI player tracking should be fixed.

Nah necro is not the worst but most balanced , its just power creep of other classes for the past 2 years made necro looks bad.

Actually there has been countless nerfs since release. The power creep is an illusion that is caused by constant rapid innovation by players in a game where the balance has not been shaken up in any major way (stale and slow balance shifts). Things keep getting nerfed but players find new ways to improve and get the most out of each class. However necro was terrible to begin with and no matter how deep you dive into it you wont get much out of it. Which is why it seems the gap has increased.

The gap has increased due to advanced knowledge and tactics. But from a balance and power perspective the gap has actually decreased.

Not sure if anyone of the original encounter designers still work for anet. Hrouda was one of the lead designers for dungeons at release and hes gone. So i doubt you will get dev confirmation on intended design for dungeons. At this point they should just make changes which make sense for the game and maintain current encounters as they are if they are fine.

So that means fix necrid bolt in this case. Because lupi was fine before and its not popular now. Pugs rely on cheesing to avoid it. It completely destroys necros viability for the fight. And its just annoying how every other class has too sacrifice so much damage to survive.

Which has no value. Because you cant vendor it or salvage it. It just takes up bank space.

Back when fractal skins were statless exotics you could atleast salvage them for ectos. So they had some worth.

It seems unlikely that they would change that and avoid other issues. It also happened alongside a ton of other major bugs. Remember when people were saying the same thing about alphard. Then they fixed it.

Well i know for sure that making BiP group might will not make necros any more popular in groups. Its such an insignificant change.

And yeah i was kind of stuck in the mindset of BiP being 12 second duration. Considering BiP is 30 second cooldown. A 20-25 second might duration would be fine. And actually if it is 6 stacks for 20 seconds it is equal to 10 stacks for 12 seconds. But has greater viability as a sustained might stacker and benefits more from boon duration. Although it would be less powerful for bursting.

So i guess if it isnt nerfed then im fine with it. Anything lower than 6 stacks would be a nerf. And thats assuming the might duration is increased.

My point is you can compensate for slow classes. Mesmer is even slower than necro. And is far more reliant on the group giving swiftness unless the mesmer takes a second set of armour for centaur runes. But mesmer is still fine in the meta because it has other things to make it worth taking despite its slow pace. Good groups support their slow teammates. Bad groups are bad. The necro is fine for solo skipping just like any class. It just takes longer to do. Its the same as doing the same skip on a mesmer. Mobile classes definitely have it easier.

The whole mobility issue is far from what we should be asking for. Giving us a bit of mobility will do absolutely nothing for us in group PvE. Which is where the issue is.

No empower is godly awful. The duration of the those might stacks is so short it completely destroys its own viability. Always fun when pugs use empower right after you stack 25 might. And then lose it because of overwritten might.

The problem with that is 6 stacks on 20 duration is really mediocre. And if thats what we get for a less selfish version of the skill i would rather keep BiP as it is for solo purposes. For group might it would have to be atleast 30 seconds (or perma uptime) for me to consider it worth the change. Simply because blasts give 3 stacks on 30 second duration.

Besides i think getting a few blasts is more likely than a BiP rework. And if we get blasts then our group contribution is far better. We can blast might, stealth and swiftness. And we can still keep our really good solo might skill.

BiP being nerfed to provide group might isnt what i call a good idea. Its one merit is that it gives a good amount of selfish might to the necro. If the 10 stacks was group shared that would be fine. But if you nerf the amount of stacks or the duration then it becomes inferior to a single blast in a fire field. Which means it would have been better off as a decent skill for solo/self sufficient necros (like it currently is).

How is that any different from them being bad? Whether the rewards are good or bad individually is irrelevant. Its their relative reward compared to other areas of differing difficulty which matters. And seeing as rewards in GW2 are generally bad across the board it makes more sense to buff unrewarding areas to create a proper difficulty reward balance.

Areas which are considered to have good rewards are only considered to have good rewards because of their relative position compared to other areas. So what you are saying doesnt really make sense. You could buff/nerf the rewards across all areas of the game and the disparity in rewards would still be the same. Silverwastes and dungeons would still be considered good rewards compared to others and all others would still be considered bad. The balance of rewards needs to be fixed. Which means fractal rewards needs to be buffed or all other areas need to be heavily nerfed. Its as simple as that. :P

Id love mobility but i agree its totally not needed and not the cause for the class being bad. For the PvE meta being able to blast stealth and swiftness is more important. Slow classes can pick up an fgs for extra mobility while stealthed. And you can also abuse executioner axe for necro mobility out of combat.

Id much rather have finishers and some meaningful group interaction than a bit of mobility. It would do so much more for the class.

I just want fractals to reward me appropriately for my time. I want gold for various things in game so i have to make a choice of enjoying fractals but being totally unrewarded. Or doing dungeons and making good progress towards buying skins. The game should not be that poorly balanced in terms of rewards. Its especially frustrating that the most challenging content is the least rewarding.

Making fractals more rewarding wont make it the new gold grind. Most players arent good enough to do high levels fractals fast and consistantly. Even with major gold buffs to fractals dungeons would still be a better gold grind for the average player. But for experienced players it might be different.

You shouldnt be getting burned if you are standing on the highest point. Which is where you leap from. Or if that doesnt work move to the corner to remove the burn then jump from the highest point before the burn reapplies. Dont remember exactly how its done. I just know it can be done because ive done it recently with LH ele. x)

Hi everyone, this maybe is not a bug, or maybe is just something normal that evolves in a bug, but here I got:

AC Path 3:
Giant Lizard fight (Colossus Rumblus)

When Grast is casting the dome to protect the players during the earthquake. If he gets a Knockback, he will stand up and continue casting the dome as if the dome was not casted (During that time the Earthquake is over and the first dome still worked).

But if a second earthquake wave comes up, he will do the animation of the of the dome but this time the Dome will be false, allowing the rock to pass and kill the players.

The best way that my group found to “fix” this bug. (Which, once again the bug is not the knockback but the false dome few seconds after during the next Earthquake) is having a guardian or any other class (If there’s any way) to grant npc Grast some Stability. Since he wont has to “recast” the shield the cooldowns of his ability are setup for the next wave.

This is just a result of stability being overlooked on NPC’s when they changed it. Both Detha and Grast suffer from this. Detha gets chain CC’d while charging traps and grast gets interrupted when doing the bubble. They should have perma stability but it gets stripped by CC. Also the perma stability on mobs like earth elementals in molten facility fractal gets stripped by CC.

tl;dr Anet needs to fix NPC/mob perma stability.

Ive always been a supporter of spectral wall reflecting. But i doubt they will change it. It was already changed once from vuln to fear.

When it was vuln it did actually have a small use in PvE. Then when it became fear it became totally useless in PvE but decent in PvP and WvW. Reflect would make it good in PvE again.

You cant tell us that this doesnt look awkward as hell. While its pretty impressive that he can skill click that well. There is definite gameplay improvements if he used some keybinds. Skill clicking has limitions. You cannot use multiple skills at the same time and swap weapons while casting etc.

PS. Records are tried and practised runs. Im not a skill clicker but i found myself skill clicking some parts of might/swiftness stacking rotations in our old TA records. And that was simply because after a certain amount of attempts every part of the dungeon became like part of a set rotation.

And i dont like trying to fix things by just slapping blast finishers on everything (like they did with elementalist).

But this is exactly the kind of fix we need to improve the base class. Even if the specialisation is good we lack proper group synergy due to finisher shortages. Seeing as we are only getting one new weapon. We will still be a class with major finisher shortages on weapons. Adding blast finishers is such a good way to improve a class immensely without completely breaking its balance. It gives huge group play improvements and only minor solo play improvements (especially in the case of necro with its limited field types). Combo fields and finishers are a core part of the system. To have one class have a severe lack of them doesnt really make sense.

Yeah field priority is always first down and it disregards who placed it. So its not pug friendly at all.

Also the devs suggested a system in the past where you could choose your own personal field priority in the options. But they also decided against it because they said the playerbase was too stupid to use it. Which is really disappointing.

Agree with most of these.

However i think dark pact should be left as it is. Its fine. A cooldown reduction would be nice but it doesnt really need it.

Also for warhorn. I dont want locust as a blast. I would much rather have wail of doom as a blast. It makes more sense, works better (blasting stealth or swiftness) and looks more like a blast.

Also another suggestion i would personally love. Is in addition to enfeebling blood being a blast. Weakening shroud should also be a blast. Its been discussed. Some people think thats too strong. I personally dont think its even close to being OP when you consider what other classes can do.

You are not alone. I find it absolutely absurd that anet has left it like this for so long. Despite the countless suggestions to improve the class with only very minor tweaks. The hope is for the new specialisation to improve things. But we dont know how well that will work out and how long we have to wait.

I would rather the current meta builds were nerfed. I was insta-kicked from AC as soon as I joined and they saw Necro.

Yeah because nerfing classes always makes people happy.

Buff necros and make better and more complex content is what we need.
