on the plus side swap seems to work wayyyy past 600 range. but shhh :P
Pretty sure it always worked that way though. I remember doing swap after I’ve blinked away (to cause confusion or simply to break stun) before the update.
finally my kitten . after all this time….. now the first leap is no longer a leap finisher…. only the swap is…. massive nerf for the ileap….
@Pyro:
In the ReadyUp vid on Dulfy, I saw the new iLeap still maintains its double leap finisher as Karl used it in Chaos Storm.
Can someone confirm if this is true or not?
In the video only the clone gains chaos armor when the leap is initiated inside the chaos storm. Right now both the clone and the Mesmer gain chaos armor. It’s pretty big nerf to chaos armor uptime for the Mesmer….. as you need to swap inside an ethereal field before the real Mesmer gain the chaos armor…. so if someone kill your clone before you swap, you have no chance to gain chaos armor…. I’m not liking it.
What this means is the first leap isn’t a leap finisher (for the real Mesmer). Only the swap is a leap finisher.

laokoko, so are you going to delete your legendary weapon and keep the skin only or not? If you don’t even have one then you’re in no position to comment.
If you think legendary weapons are just skins, make one, account bound it, then delete it. Post a youtube video of you doing so on here I dare you.
Some people really doesn’t have brains and like to trivialise other’s efforts.

can we please make the GW2 keyboard available for purchase again ?
Have to agree with everyone else here. Regardless of whether anet is likely to use any of these or not. These are very nicely thought out. Yes it is something that the Mesmer class needs right now to return it to its full glory.
Development team should definitely take note. For a squishy class like the Mesmer, control of our own abilities is absolutely necessary.
Good on you anet. For once you’re doing something right. Do not ever release these on the gem store. If people want it bad enough they will get good at the game and actually earn it by entering tournaments.
medohgeuh.4650, if you haven’t realised it yet, this game is about skill progression not gear progression. You grind to improve your skill of play. And by the sounds of things, you haven’t gotten very far. And yes you are definitely “newer”, whether that’d be literal or metaphorical does not matter.
The so called ‘exploit’ that your above posts refer to, had never been questioned by anyone as an exploit before the latest LS update, happens to be what makes Mesmer melee (more) viable in this CC heavy meta, and happens to encourage creative and intelligent skilled play. For a person who never even realised this nuance of sword 3 even existed until now, to then simply dismiss the skill as an exploit because you never bothered to try is pure stupidity.

buy permanent bank access.
It’s not just in pvp, in a lot of areas for pve as well, even open world pve. Just that these days with the megaserver the loot is handed to you on a silver platter. Compared to the old days where if you were on a less populated server, you actually had to earn the loot by solo or small group many outnumbered fights where if you didn’t make full use of your stun breakers and have good timing on your skills you’d die pretty quickly.
So you end up with newer players like medohgeuh.4650, who never grinded the hours for practice or had the need to grind, will never come to appreciate just how important that extra stun breaker is (was) on the mainhand sword.
And judging by his attitude he’ll just blame the other person’s build being op on occasions when he gets wrecked in wvw or pvp.
It’s quite obvious that “fix” was used as an excuse to nerf illusionary leap. That is why it took anet 2 years to fix such a simple ‘bug’.
Why should you expect to swap places with a non-existant clone? Summon it and swap instantly, frenzy away then do whatever. These are not nerfs, they are bug-fixes.
Why not? The clone was only a pointer to where the Mesmer is going to potentially teleport to.
If you think the nerf to illusionary leap was only minor then you had no idea how to use sword main hand as a Mesmer before patch. Having the skill as a reliable stun break, combo finisher and teleport was invaluable to high level Mesmer melee game play. Now the skill is reduced to 1 dimensional because it encourages swapping immediately or the clone will get destroyed anyway rendering the skill completely useless.
And of course the nerf to illusionist’s celerity from 1 trait point to the 3 that is it now. How I miss those CD but still able to trait into phantasmal healing for high sustain. The key that gave mesmers a chance at 1vX without traiting into PU.
yes please fix warrior’s leap skills. 99.99% of warriors will no longer be able to escape combat like a kitten.
running arah atm. omg…… without that 2nd swap stun break sword mainhand is so much inferious compared to before. F#$#$ anet…….
Unbelievably bad change for the Mesmer class. With this single change it removes so much counterplay that had made melee combat viable for the Mesmer under so many situations. This is coming from a Mesmer player that grew up on s/s+staff game play fighting outnumbered in both pve and wvw. That 2nd swap skill as a teleport, combo finisher, stun break….. this is an unbelievable big nerf for main hand sword. I’ve personally lost count of how many times that swap had saved me or allowed me to apply more pressure on the enemy….
Anet developers really has lost touch with reality.

Same here. Just noticed it turned into night in Divinity’s Reach just then but the blade didn’t turn into night version after 20 minutes of having black aura around my toon. The blade didn’t change to night version until map changed.
It was pretty cool before this latest quick fix though. In about 7 hours ago I noticed the aura changes 5 minutes before the blade changes when night changed into day. It really felt like the sun was rising.
I personally much prefer the following:
1) for day to night, change aura to night 5 minutes before the blade itself change to night version. Reflecting night fall gradually.
2) for night to day, change aura to day 5 minutes before the blade itself change to day version. Reflecting sunrise gradually.
Something like this above would be really cool imo.
But I will let the anet developers decide how this should be fixed. Hopefully my suggestion is taken into account.

This is really a stupid move by anet. If they wanted to stop then trains then get rid of the loot for the champs, not the champs themselves. Some of us actually like to fight the champs on our spare time. Getting rid of the champs entirely is just stupid.
video if you’re interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZMmdy0amDE
goodjob. these improvements are quite good.
I think it is a matter of personal play style. I like zergging once in a while when I just want to go around mindlessly gathering gold and items and don’t want to think very hard about what I am doing. It is a stress reliever. Other times I want to test my skill ability and challenge myself. Depends on the day.
I think it is evident that people have very different opinions about the matter. For example you have two posts above that are polar opposites right next to each other. @Lambent.6375 who loves zerg content and @morrolan.9608 who thinks it is destroying the game.
I laughed when I saw one of these posts right after the other. It shows that the game is different for every player.
But the point is, before the megaserver implementation you had a choice to guest at servers with varying populations. Now you don’t have a choice.
I think its the wrong way to look at it.
Trains/zergs are the easiest way to farm almost anything, you got some gold, karma, loot, rares and the chance of valuables. And its fast.
I dont think it is about enjoying or having fun so much, zerging is a tool, not a goal.
Of course there are ppl who finds this fun too, I do occasionally. Besides, finding something challenging thats not zerged is almost impossible in the open world.
Its not a player-problem, its a game mechanics problem. Zergs arent destroying the game, Anet is.
Sounds like you have never tried taking on world bosses in a small group. Because if you had you would know that a lot of the times you actually have to use your skills in a timely manner, pulling off heals without being interrupted, make use of combo fields and finishers, corrdinate rezzing each other. In general, you actually had to have a decent build + decent skills to win. Which was far better than the spam fest with a 100 players in one location that is plaguing the game in it’s current state.
they should change this trait to something like 2-3k aoe heal on interrupt. that would make it more interesting.
while you’re at it, please add school uniforms and more styles of glasses.
If you don’t like dying a semi tanky build with a lot of chaos armor is your friend, especially against many enemies at once.
My favorite has to be sword/sword + staff , with blink and feedback as utility. Leap combo finishing inside an ethereal field like chaos storm and feedback will give you a lot of chaos armor uptime. Sword 4 for blocking big hits (champs), sword 5 for quickly taking down single targets, sword 3 to kite by teleporting at the right time, sword 1 and 2 to do aoe damage and sword 2 to avoid dmg from time to time. Then swap to staff to kite enemies around.
Sigils you can try battle + bloodlust on 1 set of weapon and battle + your choice for the 2nd set for increasing damage in general.
Sword/Focus is also good once you get to trait for warden reflect dmg with 4 points in inspiration. You can play cat and mouse with the enemy with temporal curtain.
As for armor, initially u can go with knight armor until you can mix cavalier, Valkyrie and berserker.
You will see more and more wipes like these now that the world bosses are a zerg fest that requires nothing more than spamming #1.
Add to this, the champs is orr are now being farmed to death. You simply don’t get a chance to fight them alone anymore. You will find that wipes like these are because those people are not attuned to their toons well enough yet and is in need to further experimenting with different builds.
I am getting increasing frustrated at the warden not attacking. Was at arah just then, summoned it on a hunter 3 times, didn’t attack and they all got destroyed a few seconds after they were summon. How can anet expect us to play like this?
F@#%%@#
Its quite laughable that some of you actually think this is normal. Quite clearly you’ve been on a high density server before all of this and has been spoilt the whole way through. While you prefer to chit chat in /map with 100 others while spamming #1 on your world bosses, people from smaller servers would still like to continue to do what they’ve had previously, having challenging fights with world bosses in small groups. Guess what? Some of the fights actually will require you to have a semi decent build and use combo finishers to win. Which is completely unnecessary when a zerg is there. But of course some of you wouldn’t know ‘cos you’ve been a zergling all your life.
Anet should allow everyone to choose which map instance to wp to for each map. As a megaserver map gets full, a new empty one is created. Those who wants a challenge can then switch to this newly created map. This way everyone has a choice of what type of fights they’d want with the world bosses. Whether that you’d be go there and get loot or take a big longer to kill and have some fun. I personally rather take 5-10 min to solo ulgoth or to kill him with a small group than to zerg him down in 2.
(edited by squallaus.8321)
Disable or give people a choice whether they want to disable or enable megaserver from the client side.
I could see a possible boon share/condition shatter build through 0/0/6/0/6 with both bountiful disillusionment and maim the disillusioned, although it could be awful.
s/s+staff with both sword and staff traited will do ok actually with those. you won’t be short of illusiosn to shatter with.
PvE was faceroll even before. At least now there are actually people to talk to, makes the “1” spamming somewhat bearable.
No it wasn’t. Just because you’re from a highly dense populated server doesn’t mean everyone else is.
If you actually think pve is so easy, I’d challenge you to complete melandru temple with 3, lyssa with 2, dwayna with 2, grenth with 5, balth with 8. If you’re bored enough you can also try to solo ulgoth, foulbear and the eye of zhaitan world events.
Lets see how you fare when you actually have to work for the loot.
(edited by squallaus.8321)
Mega server is great.
At least now it feel like someone’s actually playing the game and maps aren’t completely empty.
That being said, It seems it’s their way of merging the servers without actually doing it.
Except now there are too many on each map. making all the world bosses a 1 spam fest. And after all that there is still chance you’d be put onto a map without many people on it because the previous instance got full and u don’t have enough to fill the current instance of the map that you want to go to.
In the previous system if you couldn’t find anyone to play with on your own server, you always could guest on another server with a higher population. Conversely, if you’re from a high population server and find it hard to do a certain event because it is constantly being cleared, or simply want the challenge of being to do the event in a smaller group, you could guest on a server with lower population. Now with megaserver you have absolutely no control over any of this.
Cursed Shore and Malchor’s Leap are not megaserver yet.
The problem lies more with trait unlock, people want to do Grenth, Lyssa and gate of Arah. That’s why there are more people on these maps.
Cursed shore isn’t. Malchor’s leap is.
Clearly anet has the ability to disable or enable maps for megaserver implementation. Imo they should allow players the choice to choose whether to turn on or off the megaserver implementation for all maps. It will solve a lot of problems and keep everyone happy.
(edited by squallaus.8321)
Meanwhile, my server isn’t running a gates of arah, temple clear, karka queen every night at server reset for the past year and a half.
This is a great update if one looks past the cesspool of negativity.
Or maybe just maybe you’d stop being so lazy and start rallying others around you and start up a community to run these events every night? Some people have actually put in a lot of effort to organize events for the community that they belong to so that the community as a whole benefits. Then there are others that prefer to tag the bosses with 1 and let the other 100 players do the work for them.
its not about u its about every1, most of us love this update, and they added a specific update for guilds like you, now u can spend ur guild points or w/e on starting an event ANY TIME YOU WANT so use that
So why don’t you enlighten us on how one can use guild points to start up lyssa temple, dwayna temple, melandru temple, grenth temple, Balthazar temple and the gate of arah?
Maybe some players like running with 100 other players. Many of us don’t. Just give me an option to choose whether to go to a Megaserver or to go to my home server, and I’d be happy.
That’s right Anet, give us the option to turn off the mega server feature. You can keep it on as default for the new players to the game so that when they first enter the game they will have people to play with. But we should have the option to turn the feature off because it is clearly having an undesirable effect on a large amount of players.
What I want out of my mesmer:
- I loathe dying. Really truly hate it, even against normal mobs. I do alright against 1 normal mob with my dual sword set up, but many mobs or some tougher than normal and I’m in a bit of trouble. I know I probably won’t reach ranger level of survivability, but this is the main issue I have.
- I’d like to know how to better work the clones or, and I’m not sure it is not possible, remove them from my build. Against a normal mob they seem useless because they don’t have enough time to do anything before the mob dies, and against tough or multiple mobs they don’t seem to do enough, or die too quickly.
- If u hate dying then chaos armor is your best friend but you’ll need a semi tanky semi dps setup. Something like a mixture of knights, cavalier, Valkyrie and berserker gear. Google these. With s/s + staff setup, u have 5 ways of using chaos armor. With staff 4, staff 2 inside an ethereal field, sword 3 (twice) in an ethereal field and sword 5 again in an ethereal field. An Ethereal field is for example your chaos storm, feedback, null field, timewarp. Proc these as often as you can while fighting mobs out numbered. They provide great dmg mitigation.
- Other forms of damage mitigation includes Sword 2 and F4 skills. F4 usually for more serious emergencies as a get out of jail card.
- If you’re out of damage mitigation skills and dodges or if your health is too low distance your self from the enemy with staff 2 with blink. Recover enough hp and at least some skills are off Cooldown then reengage. F3 is also some times good for stopping the enemy from attacking you for a small period of time, as it interrupts their attacks, so that you can have more time to get away for a bit.
- Casting chaos storm on top of yourself and the enemy with staff, then swap to s/s, do a chaos armor combo finisher then start attacking the enemy works very well in pve. Chaos storm dazes the enemy and gives you aegis. This gives you protection while you attack the enemy. Chaos armor will give you protection when hit that reduces enemy damage on you and has chance to blind the enemy. So you can continue to attack for longer without needing to heal.
These are the core basics of playing defensively offensive in pve with s/s + staff as a Mesmer.
(edited by squallaus.8321)
Anet please give each player the option to turn on or off the megaserver feature. When it is turned on a player will be moved to a map that is more populated so he/she can play with other players. If turned off simply move that player to the map on the player’s home server.
Not every one wants to go to a map full of zergs all the time. Some times some players actually want to go to a specific map that has less people so that they actually will get the chance to do a certain event. This can either be on their own home server or at some other server that they are guesting.
Atm the megaserver implementation sucks big time because maps that you get moved to are over populated all the time and u have no control over it. This means when a player or a small group of players actually want to do a certain event they won’t be able to because the event has already been completed on the ‘megaserver map’. And probably never will get a chance to do it since the map is highly populated and any event will be completed shortly afterward it start.
Just now a few friends and I decided to do some catching up after we met at grenth, as we haven’t played together for a period of time. We decided to head to lyssa and dwayna temple because they are contested according to our maps. However when we actually port to malchor’s leap, the map where lyssa and dwayna temples are located, we find that they are not uncontested and we appear to be on a megaserver map. Relogging several times didn’t help our course either. This sucks because those 2 events are contested on our home server and we want to participate but we can’t get to those maps on our own server, and we can’t participate on the mega server because they’ve already been completed.
While the intentions of the mega server is good in that it allows players to find other players to play with more easily, this should not be forced down every players throats. Players should be given an option to choose whether they are actually currently looking for more players to play with.

Same here.
In the past the most fun that I’ve had in harahi hinderlands was being able to solo or fight ulgoth in small groups at certain times of the day. You actually needed a decent build and some strategy in order to win. Today I log in to fight ulgoth for the first time since the patch, because of the megaserver implementation, there was 6 commanders on the map with atleast 100 people camping at ulgoth. Took ages for ulgoth to spawn because of the new schedule. Needless to say when it came to the actual fight was boring as kittens.
Thanks anet for ruining the whole pve experience.
It is no wonder people say pve is easy, when u have a zerg there to kill things for you all you’ll need is spam 1 and nothing else. I forsee pve player skills go down the drain with the megaserver implementation.

iwarden still not properly fixed : <
still stands there and does nothing a lot of the time =_=
the iwarden isn’t mixed either =_=
still stands there 1/2 of the time doing nothing.
omg anet what wtf are you doing? is it that hard to fix these?
What would be really nice is to see the number of legendaries each person who posts in this thread owns as a number below their post…
On page 5 people are still arguing that “stat swapping” more than makes up for the 2000+G loss we will incur.
To clarify, I don’t have a problem with people proposing suggestions, but if you don’t own 2 duplicate legendaries, you don’t really have a valid opinion as to how far up the creek we are right now.
I think anet should let real legendary weapons also have selectable sigils and infusion types, in addition to the existing swappable stats. This will atleast mean that when the player with the legendary weapons need to change build he does not need to recraft or repurchase certain items. This should be the convenience rewarded to someone who had spent so much time crafting a weapon of legendary status.
(edited by squallaus.8321)
Anet, give real legendaries weapons new features please. Like selectable sigils and infusion types, on top of the existing selectable stats when out of combat.
Well they took away the 100% condition proc on the duelist shot and put it back to 20% chance. It would be cool to get a little more here, but the range buff is quite nice.
it was combo finisher not condi proc.
Sword for leveling is very squishy. And not everybody likes to be a Melee. I am very pleased with the leveling build, though there are 2 different ones of them.
Ele may be an AoE class, nevertheless their single target damage is superior to ours in many ways. We have to do it another way… and it works, but not in lower levels.
that’s because most people don’t understand the game mechanics initially. everytime I teach a newbie how to combo finish with staff and sword/sword inside a ethereal field, suddenly they can take on 5 trash mobs at once and then tell me its 200% better than before.
If you want to run that build that’s fine, but I hope you read LFG posts clearly before hitting the join button. If your team is oriented towards DPS, you are pretty much dead weight.
That just simply means his build doesn’t synergize with builds from DPS groups. It does not necessarily mean that his build is bad. Clearing dungeons with the least amount of time possible will not lead you to the meaning of life. There is more than 1 way to play and enjoy this game.
